What is Just Another Grass Seed?
1 part
Just Another Grass Seed is part of this pack, which ships version 21.1.5 of it (file jags-neo-21.1.5+mc1.21.1.jar). It has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier. The item the pack's quests point to is Grass Seed.[1]
Where the quest book puts it
The pack's quest book has one quest for this mod, in the chapter "the_beginning" (a quest in "?"). It has no title of its own, and its single task is to obtain Grass Seed.[2]
That quest comes after another quest in the same chapter, so you reach it by working through "the_beginning" and not as a standalone goal. The sources show no quest that depends on it.[2]
How do you get started with Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
Just Another Grass Seed is a small mod, and your first steps with it in this pack are short. You start with the Grass Seed, then move on to the Fake Grass Block and its biome variants. Here is the order I'd go in.[2][3]
Step one: get your first Grass Seed
You get the Grass Seed by sifting dirt. The pack adds a Create Sifter recipe for this, using the Mechanical Cloth Mesh, and Grass Seed is one of its possible results. The same recipe also gives crop seeds and saplings from other mods, plus several vanilla seeds, so you may need a few tries before the Grass Seed shows up.[3]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/minecraft_dirt_with_cloth_mesh
Added by the pack: sifting dirt with the cloth mesh can drop Grass Seed among other seeds.
It is worth getting early, because the Grass Seed is the task of the quest a quest in "?" in the Beginning chapter. That quest comes after another quest in the same chapter.[2]
Step two: make a Fake Grass Block
The pack gives you two ways to craft the Fake Grass Block. The first is a shapeless crafting recipe that turns a regular grass block into a fake one.[3]
Added by the pack: a shapeless recipe starting from a grass block.
The second is a shapeless recipe added through KubeJS, which gives you another route to the same block.[3]
Added by the pack: an alternative recipe for the same Fake Grass Block.
Step three: pick a biome look
Once you have a plain Fake Grass Block, you can change its look in a stonecutter. The pack has stonecutting recipes from the plain block to each biome variant, for example Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Jungle), Fake Grass Block (Snow) and Fake Grass Block (Desert). Other variants include Badlands, Birch, Cheery, Dark Forest, Mangrove, Meadow, Mushroom, Ocean, Pale Garden, Sparse Jungle and Swamp.[3]

One example: the plain Fake Grass Block stonecut into the Plains variant. The other biomes follow the same pattern.

How does Just Another Grass Seed work?
3 parts
Here's the honest picture for this one: the sources for Just Another Grass Seed show no machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item-handling systems. What they do show is a small set of decorative blocks and a seed, plus the recipes the pack uses to get them and convert between them.[3]
Getting the base Fake Grass Block
The pack adds two shapeless recipes for the plain Fake Grass Block. Neither is a mod default: both are added by the pack.[3]
The first pack-added shapeless recipe for the plain Fake Grass Block.
The second pack-added shapeless recipe, which uses a Create item.
Switching biome variants with the stonecutter
The biome-styled variants are handled with stonecutting recipes that the pack adds. Put the plain Fake Grass Block into a stonecutter to get a variant such as Fake Grass Block (Badlands), Fake Grass Block (Birch), Fake Grass Block (Cheery), Fake Grass Block (Dark_forest), Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Jungle), Fake Grass Block (Mangrove), Fake Grass Block (Meadow), Fake Grass Block (Mushroom) or Fake Grass Block (Ocean).[3]
Stonecutting

One example of the plain block being cut into a variant (Badlands). The other variants listed above use the same kind of stonecutting recipe.
It works in reverse too. The pack has a stonecutting recipe for each variant that turns it back into the plain block, including Fake Grass Block (Pale_garden), Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Sparse_jungle) and Fake Grass Block (Swamp), as well as all the ones above.[3]

Grass Seed
You get Grass Seed from a sifting recipe that the pack adds. The same recipe can also give various crop seeds and saplings.[3]

How do you progress through Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
In this pack the progression for this mod is a short path rather than a ladder of tiers: get Grass Seed, then turn it into Fake Grass Blocks and their biome variants.[2][3]
Step 1: Get Grass Seed
The pack's quest book has a quest for this in the "the_beginning" chapter. The quest a quest in "?" asks you to obtain Grass Seed, and it comes after another quest (5FCEA8229BB6955C).[2]
The pack adds a sifting recipe that can drop Grass Seed. It shares its results with several crops and saplings, so the seed is one possible result among many.[3]

Grass Seed is one of many possible results from this sifting recipe, which the pack adds.
Step 2: Craft Fake Grass Blocks
The pack adds two ways to make a plain Fake Grass Block. Pick whichever one suits you.[3]
Step 3: Pick a biome variant
The pack lets you turn a Fake Grass Block into biome variants with a stonecutter. The variants include Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Swamp), Fake Grass Block (Mushroom) and Fake Grass Block (Cheery). There are also Badlands, Birch, Dark Forest, Jungle, Mangrove, Meadow, Ocean, Pale Garden, Plains and Sparse Jungle versions.[3]
Here is the stonecutting recipe from the plain block to the desert variant.[3]

Every variant can be stonecut back into the plain block, so you can change your mind later. Here is the desert variant going back.[3]
How does Just Another Grass Seed work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.15.0 guide
This pack ties Just Another Grass Seed into several other mods through recipes it adds itself. These are the connections the pack's recipes and quests confirm.[4]
Getting Grass Seed by sifting dirt
The pack adds a Create Sifter recipe that sifts Dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh. Grass Seed is one of the possible results.[4]
The same sift also gives seeds and crops from other mods, plus some vanilla items. The sources do not show drop chances.[4]
- Farmer's Delight: Cabbage Seeds, Rice Crops and Tomato Seeds.[4]
- Immersive Engineering: Industrial Hemp Seeds.[4]
- Integrated Dynamics: Menril Sapling.[4]
- Vanilla: Bamboo, Beetroot Seeds, Cocoa Beans, Melon Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sugar Cane, Sweet Berries and Wheat Seeds.[4]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/minecraft_dirt_with_cloth_mesh
Added by the pack: sifting dirt can give you Grass Seed.
Fake Grass Block with Create
The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for the Fake Grass Block. It connects the mod to Create, since the recipe uses Super Glue.[4]
Added by the pack.
Grass Seed and Ender IO
The pack also adds a Lychee item-inside recipe, grass_seed_from_dirt_water, that uses Grass Seed together with Grains of Infinity from Ender IO. The recipe dump lists no output for it.[4]

Quest link
In the "the_beginning" quest chapter, quest a quest in "?" has you hand in Grass Seed. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[5]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Just Another Grass Seed?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, the mod shows up in one quest, and it lives in the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game quest, so you'll run into it near the start of your run.[6]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the pack files. Its task is an item task: you hand in Grass Seed. That's all the quest asks for.[6]
It comes after the quest with the id 5FCEA8229BB6955C in the same chapter, so you need to finish that one first before this one unlocks.[6]
Unverified The sources don't say what the previous quest asks for, whether this quest gives a reward, or how you obtain Grass Seed in this pack. Check the in-game quest book for those details.
