What is Just Another Grass Seed?
1 part
Just Another Grass Seed adds the Grass Seed item to the pack. The pack ships version 21.1.5 of Just Another Grass Seed, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been included since the pack's 1.0.1 release or earlier.[1][2]
Where it fits in progression
You meet this mod right at the start. The Grass Seed has its own quest, a quest in "?", in the chapter "the_beginning". The quest's task is to obtain Grass Seed, and it unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[2]
Unverified The sources do not describe how the Grass Seed is obtained or used, what its recipe is, or whether the pack changed any of its configs. No in-jar guidebook was found, so check in-game before relying on any specifics. The sources also do not place this mod on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Just Another Grass Seed?
2 parts
The first thing to chase in this mod is Grass Seed. In this pack, a sifting recipe added by the pack can give it to you. That same recipe also has other seeds and crops among its possible results, so Grass Seed is just one of several things it can produce.[3]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/minecraft_dirt_with_cloth_mesh
Pack-added sifting recipe. Grass Seed is one of its possible results.
Getting a Grass Seed also ties into the questbook. A quest in the chapter "the_beginning" asks you to obtain it: a quest in "?". It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter, so it may be locked until you have done that one.[2]
Step 2: Make a Fake Grass Block
Next up is the plain Fake Grass Block. This pack gives you two shapeless crafting recipes for it, so you can pick whichever route suits what you have on hand.[3]
The first shapeless recipe, added by the pack.
A second pack-added shapeless route to the same block.
Step 3: Pick a biome look with the stonecutter
The plain Fake Grass Block is also your base for the biome variants. The pack adds stonecutting recipes that turn it into each variant, and each variant can be cut back into the plain block. That means you can swap looks without losing anything.[3]

And back again: the Plains variant cut into the plain block.
The variants available are Fake Grass Block (Badlands), Fake Grass Block (Birch), Fake Grass Block (Cheery), Fake Grass Block (Dark_forest), Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Jungle), Fake Grass Block (Mangrove), Fake Grass Block (Meadow), Fake Grass Block (Mushroom), Fake Grass Block (Ocean), Fake Grass Block (Pale_garden), Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Sparse_jungle) and Fake Grass Block (Swamp).[3]
How does Just Another Grass Seed work?
4 parts
Here's the honest picture: the sources for this pack don't show the Just Another Grass Seed mod adding machines, multiblocks, power use, fluid handling or automation hooks. What they do show is a small set of crafting, stonecutting and sifting recipes around the Fake Grass Block and the Grass Seed. That's what this section covers.[3]
Getting a Fake Grass Block
The pack adds two shapeless crafting recipes that both produce the plain Fake Grass Block. Both are added by the pack's scripting, not by the mod itself.[3]
A shapeless recipe added by the pack that makes the plain Fake Grass Block.
A second pack-added shapeless way to get the same block.
Biome variants through the stonecutter
Biome-themed variants are made with the vanilla stonecutter, and the pack adds these recipes too. You put the plain Fake Grass Block in and pick the biome you want. Variants confirmed in the sources include Fake Grass Block (Badlands), Fake Grass Block (Birch), Fake Grass Block (Cheery), Fake Grass Block (Dark_forest), Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Jungle), Fake Grass Block (Mangrove), Fake Grass Block (Meadow), Fake Grass Block (Mushroom), Fake Grass Block (Ocean) and Fake Grass Block (Pale_garden).[3]
Stonecutting

Example: the plain block turns into a biome variant in the stonecutter, a pack-added recipe.
It also works in reverse. Every biome variant listed in the sources can go back to the plain Fake Grass Block in the stonecutter, including Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Swamp) and Fake Grass Block (Sparse_jungle). So you can swap a block's look without losing anything: go back to plain, then pick a new biome.[3]
Example: the Plains variant converting back to the plain block, a pack-added stonecutting recipe.
Where Grass Seed comes from
The Grass Seed shows up as one of the possible results of a sifting recipe the pack adds. It uses the Create Sifter recipe type and shares its output list with many other seeds and plants, so the sources don't promise it on any single sift.[3]

What the sources don't confirm
Unverified The sources here do not show what the Grass Seed does once you have it, or how it spreads or converts blocks. There are no config files, tooltips or in-jar guidebook for this mod available, so nothing beyond the recipes above can be stated about its mechanics.
How do you progress through Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
This mod doesn't have a ladder of tiers to climb. In this pack it comes down to three steps: get Grass Seed, make Fake Grass Blocks, and swap those blocks into biome variants.[2][3]
Step 1: Get Grass Seed
The pack's quest book asks you for Grass Seed in the quest a quest in "?", which sits in the The Beginning chapter. It unlocks after another quest in that chapter, so it belongs to your opening progression.[2]
The pack adds a sifting recipe that can give you the seed. Grass Seed is one of many possible results, mixed in with crop seeds and saplings.[3]

Step 2: Craft Fake Grass Blocks
The pack gives you two shapeless ways to make a base Fake Grass Block. The first starts from a normal grass block. The second is an alternative that doesn't need one.[3]
Step 3: Switch biome variants
Once you have the base block, the stonecutter turns it into biome variants. Every variant also converts back into the base block, so you can change your mind later.[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Meadow) and Fake Grass Block (Cheery).[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Badlands) and Fake Grass Block (Snow).[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Swamp), Fake Grass Block (Mangrove), Fake Grass Block (Jungle) and Fake Grass Block (Sparse_jungle).[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Birch), Fake Grass Block (Dark_forest), Fake Grass Block (Pale_garden), Fake Grass Block (Mushroom) and Fake Grass Block (Ocean).[3]

How does Just Another Grass Seed work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.15.0 guide
This pack ties Just Another Grass Seed into several other mods through recipes it adds itself. These are the connections the pack's recipes and quests confirm.[4]
Getting Grass Seed by sifting dirt
The pack adds a Create Sifter recipe that sifts Dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh. Grass Seed is one of the possible results.[4]
The same sift also gives seeds and crops from other mods, plus some vanilla items. The sources do not show drop chances.[4]
- Farmer's Delight: Cabbage Seeds, Rice Crops and Tomato Seeds.[4]
- Immersive Engineering: Industrial Hemp Seeds.[4]
- Integrated Dynamics: Menril Sapling.[4]
- Vanilla: Bamboo, Beetroot Seeds, Cocoa Beans, Melon Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sugar Cane, Sweet Berries and Wheat Seeds.[4]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/minecraft_dirt_with_cloth_mesh
Added by the pack: sifting dirt can give you Grass Seed.
Fake Grass Block with Create
The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for the Fake Grass Block. It connects the mod to Create, since the recipe uses Super Glue.[4]
Added by the pack.
Grass Seed and Ender IO
The pack also adds a Lychee item-inside recipe, grass_seed_from_dirt_water, that uses Grass Seed together with Grains of Infinity from Ender IO. The recipe dump lists no output for it.[4]

Quest link
In the "the_beginning" quest chapter, quest a quest in "?" has you hand in Grass Seed. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[5]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Just Another Grass Seed?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, the mod shows up in one quest, and it lives in the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game quest, so you'll run into it near the start of your run.[6]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the pack files. Its task is an item task: you hand in Grass Seed. That's all the quest asks for.[6]
It comes after the quest with the id 5FCEA8229BB6955C in the same chapter, so you need to finish that one first before this one unlocks.[6]
Unverified The sources don't say what the previous quest asks for, whether this quest gives a reward, or how you obtain Grass Seed in this pack. Check the in-game quest book for those details.
