What is IntegratedDynamics?
2 parts
This pack includes Integrated Dynamics 1.35.0, and it gives the mod its own quest chapter. The sources don't include a description or guidebook for the mod, so this overview follows what that chapter asks you to make, in order.[1][2]
Where you start: menril
The chapter opens by asking for a Menril Sapling, a Menril Log and Menril Berries in "Welcome to Integrated Dynamics!" quest. A separate quest in the resources chapter also asks you for the menril sapling, so you'll meet it early.[2][3]
Two quests unlock after that: the Squeezer and the Drying Basin. Once you have both, the next quest asks for Crystallized Menril Chunk and Block of Crystallized Menril.[2]
How the chapter branches
- Machine path: after crystallized menril you make an Energy Battery. After that come the Mechanical Squeezer and Mechanical Drying Basin, then Crystallized Chorus Chunk and Block of Crystallized Chorus.[2]
- Network path: the Logic Cable and Facade come next, and they unlock the Wrench and the Part Connector Mono Directional. The Logic Director is unlocked by the crystallized chorus quest. The Part Connector Omni Directional needs both the mono-directional connector and the logic director.[2]
- Readers and writers: the chapter asks you to make a long list of reader and writer parts, including the Part Redstone Reader, Part Inventory Reader, Part Fluid Reader, Part Redstone Writer and Part Audio Writer.[2]
- Variables and logic: the Variable Card, Logic Programmer, Portable Logic Programmer, Variable Store, Part Display Panel and Materializer are all quest items in the chapter.[2]
The logistics chapter also has a single quest that asks for a wrench, a cable and a variable card together. That tells you the pack expects this mod to be part of your item-moving setups.[4]
Unverified The sources don't show whether Integrated Dynamics is part of the ATM Star path, and they don't describe any pack-specific changes to its recipes or configs.
How do you get started with IntegratedDynamics?
4 parts
The pack's Integrated Dynamics quest chapter starts with Menril, so that's where you begin. The order below follows that chapter: get Menril, turn it into crystals, then use the crystals for your first cables and tools.[2][5]
Step one: get some Menril
The first quest, "Welcome to Integrated Dynamics!" quest, asks for a Menril Sapling, a Menril Log and Menril Berries. Menril trees are most easily found in Meneglin biomes, but you don't have to go hunting for one.[2][5]
The pack adds sifting recipes that give you a Menril Sapling from dirt. You can use either an iron mesh or a cloth mesh.[6]
Sifting (createsifter)

The pack also changed the Menril Essence recipes so that Menril Essence makes Menril Logs and Menril Berries. The sapling needs Nature Essence as well.[6]

Step two: Squeezer and Drying Basin
Both of the next two quests unlock after the Menril quest. You make a Squeezer and a Drying Basin. The idea is to process a Menril Log into Menril Resin, then dry it to get Crystallized Menril.[2][5]

The pack also changed a centrifuge recipe so that Menril Resin gives you a Crystallized Menril Chunk plus wax. That's a second route to the same chunk.[6]
Step three: put the crystals to work
Once you have both a chunk and a block, "Crystallized Menril" quest is done and the chapter branches out. The Crystallized Menril Chunk is the main material from here: the cable, the wrench, the variable card and the facade all use it.[2][6]

Where to go next
- The cable quest leads on to the Part Connector Mono Directional quest, "Mono-Directional Connector" quest.[2]
- The variable card quest, "Variable Card" quest, leads on to the Logic Programmer, the Display Panel and the Variable Store.[2]
- Crystallized Chorus comes after the mechanical machines, and it leads to the Logic Director. In this pack, Liquid Chorus is cast into the chorus chunk and block.[2][6]

How does IntegratedDynamics work?
5 parts
Integrated Dynamics is built around logic networks. The pack's advancements ask you to build a logic network with at least 10 connected Logic Cable, and they walk you through readers, variable cards, display panels and writers. Here is how the main systems fit together, as far as the pack's files explain them.[5]

Readers and what they can see
Readers expose aspects of whatever they point at. The pack has advancements for the Block Reader, Inventory Reader, Machine Reader, Redstone Reader and Entity Reader. Each aspect describes the target as it is when it is read. The aspects include:[5]
- Inventories: whether the target currently has an inventory, whether all slots are empty, at least one item is present, or all slots hold at least one item, and a fill ratio (non-empty slots divided by total slots).[5]
- Fluids: whether the target currently has a fluid tank, whether it is empty, full or has something in it, the fluid itself, and a fill ratio (fluid in the active tank divided by its capacity).[5]
- Energy (FE): whether the target handles FE, whether it can provide or receive it, whether FE can really be inserted or extracted (taking storage and capacity into account), whether the buffer is empty, non-empty or full, and a fill ratio.[5]
- Machines: whether the target is a worker machine, is currently working, has work to process, or would be able to start working in its current state.[5]
- Redstone: whether the level is at its maximum, whether there is currently no level, or whether there is a level. There is also a clock aspect that pulses with a configurable length and interval.[5]
- World: day or night, clear weather, rain or thunderstorm, plus whether the target space has a block, entity, animal, mob, item or player. TPS (ticks per second) can also be read.[5]
The Machine Reader can also read the list of recipes from a machine that handles recipes, such as a Crafting Table. The Block Reader can read the NBT tag from a block, for example a Lectern.[5]
Variables, cards and display
Values you read can be captured on a Variable Card. The advancements ask you to define a constant Integer on one, or to make one for a redstone Integer value. Operators then work on those values: the advancements cover adding numbers, building and filtering lists, and invoking operators dynamically. They also mention visually creating a recipe in the Logic Programmer.[5]
The advancements also have you show cards in a Display Panel, materialize a variable in a Materializer, and create a proxy variable in a Proxy. One example has an Entity Reader matching an entity name, with a Redstone Writer pointing directly at a door to open it.[5]
The Input Variable Transformer and Output Variable Transformer each have an advancement asking you to craft them.[5]

Menril and the Drying Basin
Crystallized Menril Chunk appears in many of the pack's recipes. The advancements describe the route to Crystallized Menril: chop down a Menril tree (which can most easily be found in Meneglin biomes), process the Menril Log into Menril Resin, then dry it. The Drying Basin has its own advancement.[5][6]

Power
Parts have base energy consumptions, and the pack's config file sets them. Mono-directional connectors use 32 and omni-directional connectors use 128. The Delayer uses 2. A Display Panel uses 1 without a variable and 2 with one. The block, inventory, machine, fluid and entity readers and writers use 1, and the dynamic and static light panels use 0.[7]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: integrateddynamics:crafting/energy_battery
The mod also has an Energy Battery block, shown here with the pack's recipe.
In the pack's config, general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier, described as the energy usage multiplier for networks, is set to 0.[7]
The maximum network energy transfer rate, core.general.energyRateLimit, is set to 2,147,483,647.[7]
Tuning and troubleshooting
You can enforce a minimum update interval on specific parts with general.general.partMinimumUpdateIntervals. Entries look like integrateddynamics:machine_reader:10, where 10 is the number of ticks. In the pack's config the list is empty.[7]
The pack's config lets the ingredient network observer work on separate threads, with up to 4 of them. The slowest observation frequency is 40 ticks and the fastest is 5. The relevant options are core.general.ingredientNetworkObserverFrequencyMin, core.general.ingredientNetworkObserverFrequencyMax and core.general.ingredientNetworkObserverThreads.[7]
- core.general.safeMode is off in the pack's config. When enabled, networks stop ticking and values are not shown or evaluated again. The config describes this as a way to fix crashing networks by temporarily enabling the option.[7]
- core.general.recreateCorruptedNetworks is set to on in the pack's config, which means corrupted networks are restored automatically on the first tick.[7]
- core.general.tickUnloadedNetworkElements is set to off in the pack's config. When true, network elements tick whether or not their chunk is loaded.[7]
- core.general.operatorRecursionLimit is 256. It limits how deep the recursion stack on an operator can become, to avoid game crashes when building things like the omega operator.[7]
- core.general.logCardEvaluation and core.general.logChangeEvents are both off in the pack's config. Card logging is useful for debugging crashes caused by card evaluation, and the config says to enable change event logging only when debugging.[7]
How do you progress through IntegratedDynamics?
6 parts
The pack gives Integrated Dynamics its own quest chapter, and it's a nice guided path. It starts with menril, moves through power and cabling, and then branches into variables, programming and a big set of readers and writers. Here it is tier by tier.[2]
Tier 1: Get menril
The chapter opens with "Welcome to Integrated Dynamics!" quest. It wants a Menril Sapling, a Menril Log and some Menril Berries. A separate quest in another chapter also asks you for the sapling.[2][3]
The pack gives you a few ways to get these. Sifting dirt with a cloth mesh or an iron mesh can drop a menril sapling. Mystical Agriculture essence recipes, which the pack changed, turn menril essence into berries or a log. The sapling recipe also needs nature essence. The pack also changed the XyCraft extractor so it produces menril berries from water.[6]
- Sifting with the iron mesh drops a menril sapling from dirt.[6]
- Sifting with the cloth mesh also lists the sapling, alongside many other seeds.[6]
- Menril essence is crafted into berries or a log, and into a sapling together with nature essence.[6]
Tier 2: Squeezer, drying basin and crystallized menril
Once you have menril, two quests open up: the Squeezer in "Extracting Menril" quest and the Drying Basin in "Drying Basin" quest. Both come before "Crystallized Menril" quest, which asks for a Block of Crystallized Menril and a Crystallized Menril Chunk.[2]

Crystallized menril is used in a lot of the recipes further down the chapter, so it's worth setting up early. The pack changed how you get it. Casting Menril Resin with a nugget cast gives a chunk, and casting resin on its own gives a block. A centrifuge recipe that turns resin into a chunk plus wax is also listed as changed by the pack.[6]

Tier 3: Power and cables
After crystallized menril, the chapter splits in two. "Energy Battery" quest asks for the Energy Battery. "Networks" quest asks for the Logic Cable and a Facade. The battery leads to "Upgrading Menril Extraction" quest, the Mechanical Squeezer and Mechanical Drying Basin. The cables lead to the Wrench in "Wrench" quest and the Part Connector Mono Directional in "Mono-Directional Connector" quest.[2]

A separate quest in the logistics chapter also asks for the wrench, the cable and a variable card together.[4]
Tier 4: Chorus and the logic director
The mechanical machines lead to "Crystallized Chorus Chunks" quest, which asks for a Block of Crystallized Chorus and a Crystallized Chorus Chunk. The pack changed these to be cast from Liquid Chorus. The chunk needs a nugget cast, and the block does not.[2][6]
Chorus leads to the Logic Director in "Logic Director" quest. "Omni-Directional Connector" quest, the Part Connector Omni Directional, comes after both that quest and the mono-directional connector quest.[2]

Tier 5: Variables and programming
The logic side starts with "Variable Card" quest, the Variable Card card. Three quests branch from it. "Logic Programmer" quest wants the Logic Programmer and the Portable Logic Programmer. "Reading Data" quest wants the Part Display Panel. "Variable Store" quest wants the Variable Store. The Variable Store then leads to the Materializer in "Materializer" quest.[2]

You can convert the Logic Programmer to the portable version and back with simple shapeless recipes.[6]
Tier 6: Readers, writers and enhancements
The remaining quests are a large set of parts that all share one prerequisite quest. The readers are "Reading World Information" quest (block, world, extradimensional and audio), "Reading Inventories" quest (inventory and fluid), "Reading Networks & Machines" quest (redstone, network and machine) and "Reading Entities" quest (entity). The writers are "Writing Redstone" quest (redstone) and "Writing Sounds & Effects" quest (audio and effect). For example, one reader is the Part Inventory Reader and one writer is the Part Redstone Writer.[2]
The readers are mostly crafted around the Input Variable Transformer, and the writers around the Output Variable Transformer. The last quest, "Part Enhancement: Offset" quest, asks for Part Enhancement: Offset. Its prerequisite quest isn't part of the chapter data available here.[2][6]

How does IntegratedDynamics work with other mods?
5 parts
Integrated Dynamics connects to a lot of other mods in this pack. Most of the links are recipes. Menril and Chorus items get made, processed or used in other mods' machines, and the Integrated add-on mods build directly on its parts.[6]
Getting Menril through other mods

The Integrated add-on mods
Integrated Tunnels, Integrated Terminals and Integrated Crafting all use Integrated Dynamics items in their own recipes. These are listed as the mods' own recipes, not pack changes.[6]
- Integrated Tunnels: the interface parts are the starting point. Importer and exporter parts are built from them with the Input and Output Variable Transformers, and the world variants build on those again with the Logic Director.[6]
- Integrated Terminals: Part Terminal Storage and Portable Storage Terminal both use Integrated Dynamics items. Menril Glass and Chorus Glass are made in the Drying Basin or the Mechanical Drying Basin.[6]
- Integrated Crafting: Part Interface Crafting and its attuned version use Integrated Dynamics crystallized blocks and variable transformers.[6]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use IntegratedDynamics?
3 parts
Integrated Dynamics shows up in three quest chapters in this pack. Most of it is in the dedicated integrated_dynamics chapter, which takes you from growing Menril to building full logic networks. The quests have no titles in the pack data, so they are listed here by ID.[2][3][4]
The integrated_dynamics chapter: the main path
The chapter starts with Menril and works up through crystals, power, cables and logic. Here is the order of the early chain.[2]
- "Welcome to Integrated Dynamics!" quest is the entry point. It asks for a Menril Sapling, a Menril Log and Menril Berries.[2]
- "Extracting Menril" quest asks for the Squeezer, and "Drying Basin" quest asks for the Drying Basin. Both unlock after the Menril quest, so you can do them in either order.[2]
- "Crystallized Menril" quest needs both of those done first. It asks for a Block of Crystallized Menril and a Crystallized Menril Chunk.[2]
- The chapter then splits in two. "Energy Battery" quest asks for the Energy Battery. "Networks" quest asks for a Logic Cable and a Facade.[2]
- The battery branch continues with "Upgrading Menril Extraction" quest, which asks for the Mechanical Squeezer and the Mechanical Drying Basin. After that comes "Crystallized Chorus Chunks" quest, which asks for a Block of Crystallized Chorus and a Crystallized Chorus Chunk.[2]
- The cable branch opens "Wrench" quest for the Wrench and "Mono-Directional Connector" quest for the Part Connector Mono Directional.[2]
- "Logic Director" quest follows the chorus quest and asks for the Logic Director. "Omni-Directional Connector" quest then needs both that quest and the mono-directional connector quest. It asks for the Part Connector Omni Directional.[2]
Parts, variables and the Materializer
The rest of the chapter is gated behind quests that are not in the sources I was given, so I can't place them in the overall order. What I can tell you is what each one asks for and what it needs first.[2]
- Six quests unlock after the same earlier quest, 729DF05C1D2AE6E7. "Reading Networks & Machines" quest asks for the Part Redstone Reader, Part Network Reader and Part Machine Reader. "Reading Inventories" quest asks for the Part Inventory Reader and Part Fluid Reader.[2]
- "Reading World Information" quest asks for four readers: Part Block Reader, Part World Reader, Part Extradimensional Reader and Part Audio Reader. "Reading Entities" quest asks for the Part Entity Reader.[2]
- The writers come from the same group. "Writing Sounds & Effects" quest asks for the Part Audio Writer and Part Effect Writer, and "Writing Redstone" quest asks for the Part Redstone Writer.[2]
- "Part Enhancement: Offset" quest asks for the Part Enhancement: Offset. It unlocks after a quest whose ID is 629C6374800613C4, and that quest is not covered in the sources.[2]
- "Variable Card" quest asks for the Variable Card. Three quests unlock after it: "Reading Data" quest for the Part Display Panel, "Logic Programmer" quest for the Logic Programmer and Portable Logic Programmer, and "Variable Store" quest for the Variable Store.[2]
- "Materializer" quest is the last one listed. It follows the Variable Store quest and asks for the Materializer.[2]
Quests in other chapters
- In the logistics chapter, "Integrated Dynamics" quest asks for the Wrench, the Logic Cable and the Variable Card. No prerequisite is listed for it.[4]
- In the resources_and_you chapter, "Menril Sapling" quest asks for a Menril Sapling. It unlocks after two quests, 79758946937D2AE9 and 32E926D3AC96233A, which are not covered in the sources.[3]
Unverified The sources give no quest titles, descriptions or rewards for these quests. They also don't say which quests unlock 729DF05C1D2AE6E7, 629C6374800613C4 or 3B6540C11FAF6C3D. So the exact position of the parts, enhancement and variable quests in the overall order is unconfirmed.
Which IntegratedDynamics config options matter?
4 parts
Everything below is what this pack's Integrated Dynamics common config file sets. The file only shows the pack's values, not the mod's own defaults, so the sources here don't show which of them the pack changed.[7]
Energy
- The pack sets general.general.energyConsumptionMultiplier to 0. The file describes this option as the energy usage multiplier for networks.[7]
- The pack still lists the per-part base costs. general.general.connectorMonoDirectionalBaseConsumption is set to 32, general.general.connectorOmniDirectionalBaseConsumption to 128 and general.general.variablestoreBaseConsumption to 4.[7]
- Other base costs in the pack's file are low: general.general.blockReaderBaseConsumption is set to 1, and general.general.panelLightStaticBaseConsumption to 0.[7]
- The pack sets the Coal Generator's energy production rate to 20 RF/t (machine.coal_generator.energyPerTick).[7]
- The pack sets the default Energy Battery capacity to 1,000,000 (machine.energy_battery.capacity) and the minimum transfer rate to 2,000 per tick (machine.energy_battery.minEnergyRate).[7]
- For the Mechanical Squeezer, the pack sets an energy capacity of 100,000 (machine.mechanical_squeezer.capacity) and a consumption rate of 80 (machine.mechanical_squeezer.consumptionRate). The auto-eject rate is set to 500 mB per tick (machine.mechanical_squeezer.autoEjectFluidRate).[7]
- For the Mechanical Drying Basin, the pack sets an energy capacity of 100,000 (machine.mechanical_drying_basin.capacity) and a consumption rate of 80 (machine.mechanical_drying_basin.consumptionRate).[7]
Parts and networks
- The pack sets the maximum offset a part can target to 32 blocks (machine.general.maxPartOffset). A directional connector can look up to 512 blocks for its target (machine.general.maxDirectionalConnectorOffset).[7]
- In this pack the minimum update interval for all parts is 1 tick (general.general.partsMinimumUpdateInterval). The per-part override list (general.general.partMinimumUpdateIntervals) is empty.[7]
- The pack sets core.general.tickUnloadedNetworkElements to false, so network elements are not set to tick regardless of chunk loading. core.general.recreateCorruptedNetworks is true, which means corrupted networks are restored automatically on the first tick.[7]
- In this pack the ingredient network observer is multithreaded (core.general.ingredientNetworkObserverEnableMultithreading) and can use 4 threads (core.general.ingredientNetworkObserverThreads). Its observation frequency is set between 5 ticks at the fastest (core.general.ingredientNetworkObserverFrequencyMin) and 40 ticks at the slowest (core.general.ingredientNetworkObserverFrequencyMax).[7]
- The pack sets the operator recursion limit to 256 (core.general.operatorRecursionLimit). The file says it exists to avoid crashes when building things like the omega operator.[7]
Items and world generation
- In this pack the info book isn't automatically obtained on first spawn (item.on_the_dynamics_of_integration.obtainOnSpawn is false). It also can't give item rewards for tutorial completion (item.on_the_dynamics_of_integration.bookRewards is false).[7]
- The pack sets item.menril_berries.nightVision to true, so Menril berries give the night vision effect when eaten.[7]
- The pack sets worldgeneration.menril_log_filled.filledMenrilLogChance to 10, a 1/10 chance for Menril wood to be filled with Menril Resin when generated. The higher that value, the lower the chance.[7]
Housekeeping
The pack sets the version checker off (core.general.versionChecker) and analytics on (core.general.analytics). If cables hurt your FPS, the file suggests disabling machine.cable.dynamicShape, which is true in this pack.[7]
