What is Just Another Grass Seed?
1 part
Just Another Grass Seed is in the pack at version 21.1.5, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. The one item the sources confirm for it is Grass Seed.[1]
Where the quest book puts it
The pack's quest book places it in the "the_beginning" chapter. The quest a quest in "?" has no title, and its task is the Grass Seed item.[2]
That quest comes after a quest in "?" in the same chapter, so you reach it early in the pack. The sources show no quest that comes after it.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show whether the ATM Star path uses this mod, and they include no in-jar guidebook for it. They also do not say how Grass Seed is obtained or what it does when used.
How do you get started with Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
Just Another Grass Seed gives you two things to care about early in this pack: the Grass Seed and the Fake Grass Block. Here is the order I'd tackle them in.[2][3]
Get your first Grass Seed
The pack adds a sifting recipe where plain dirt is sifted with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh, and Grass Seed is one of the possible results. The same drop list also includes things like wheat seeds, pumpkin seeds and sugar cane, so it is a handy early recipe for farming bits too.[3]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/minecraft_dirt_with_cloth_mesh
Added by the pack. Grass Seed is one of the possible outputs.
This is worth doing early because a quest in the beginning chapter, a quest in "?", has you hand in a Grass Seed. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that same chapter.[2]
Craft a Fake Grass Block
The pack gives you two ways to make a Fake Grass Block. The first is a shapeless recipe that turns a grass block into one.[3]
Added by the pack, and it starts from a grass block.
The second is an alternative that does not start from a grass block. Both give the same result, so use whichever is easier for you right now.[3]
Also added by the pack, with the same output.
Pick a biome look
Once you have a Fake Grass Block, the pack lets you turn it into biome-themed variants with a stonecutter. The variants are Badlands, Birch, Cheery, Dark Forest, Desert, Jungle, Mangrove, Meadow, Mushroom, Ocean, Pale Garden, Plains, Snow, Sparse Jungle and Swamp. The Plains one, Fake Grass Block (Plains), is shown here as an example.[3]

Changed your mind? Each variant can also be stonecut back into the plain Fake Grass Block, so experimenting costs you nothing.[3]

How does Just Another Grass Seed work?
3 parts
Just Another Grass Seed is a simple mod in this pack. The sources here show no machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item-handling systems for it, so there is nothing to automate. What the mod gives you is Fake Grass Block and its biome-colored variants, plus Grass Seed.[3]
Getting a Fake Grass Block
The pack adds two shapeless crafting recipes for the base Fake Grass Block. One starts from a normal grass block, and the other is an alternative that doesn't need a grass block at all.[3]

Switching biome variants
The biome variants are swapped at the stonecutter. The pack adds stonecutting recipes that turn the base Fake Grass Block into a variant, and recipes that turn a variant back into the base block. The variants are Badlands, Birch, Cheery, Dark Forest, Desert, Jungle, Mangrove, Meadow, Mushroom, Ocean, Pale Garden, Plains, Snow, Sparse Jungle and Swamp.[3]

Where Grass Seed comes from
The sources show one way to get Grass Seed. The pack's sifting recipe takes dirt and a Mechanical Cloth Mesh, and Grass Seed is one of many possible outputs. Other outputs include Farmer's Delight crops, Immersive Engineering hemp seeds and vanilla seeds.[3]

How do you progress through Just Another Grass Seed?
4 parts
Just Another Grass Seed has a very short progression in this pack: get Grass Seed, make Fake Grass Blocks, then convert them into biome variants. The pack gives the mod one quest and a handful of recipes, so this section is short too.[2][3]
The quest
The mod appears once in the pack's quest book, in the "the_beginning" chapter. The quest a quest in "?" has no title and asks you to obtain Grass Seed. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[2]
Step 1: Getting Grass Seed
In this pack, Grass Seed is one of the possible results when you sift dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh. The pack added this sifting recipe itself. The same recipe also gives farming seeds and saplings, and the sources do not show drop chances.[3]

Sifting dirt with the cloth mesh is the in-pack source of Grass Seed.
Step 2: Fake Grass Block
The pack adds two shapeless crafting recipes for Fake Grass Block. Use whichever fits what you have on hand.[3]

Step 3: Biome variants
The pack lets you convert a plain Fake Grass Block into biome-themed versions with a stonecutter. Here are a few examples:[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Plains)[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Desert)[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Snow)[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Swamp)[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Mushroom)[3]
The other biome variants follow the same pattern: Badlands, Birch, Cheery, Dark Forest, Jungle, Mangrove, Meadow, Ocean, Pale Garden and Sparse Jungle. Each one has its own stonecutting recipe from the plain block.[3]

Example of the stonecutting pattern: plain block to Plains variant.
The conversion also works in reverse. Every variant has a stonecutting recipe back to the plain Fake Grass Block, so you can switch a variant back later.[3]

How does Just Another Grass Seed work with other mods?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
This pack connects Just Another Grass Seed to other mods through three custom recipes, all added by the pack. Here is what each one does.[4]
Sifting for Grass Seed
The pack adds a Create Sifter sifting recipe where dirt and a Mechanical Cloth Mesh can give you Grass Seed. The same recipe lists seeds and crops from several other mods among its results.[4]
- Farmer's Delight: Cabbage Seeds, Rice Crops and Tomato Seeds[4]
- Immersive Engineering: Industrial Hemp Seeds[4]
- Integrated Dynamics: Menril Sapling[4]
- Vanilla items: Bamboo, Beetroot Seeds, Cocoa Beans, Melon Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sugar Cane, Sweet Berries and Wheat Seeds[4]

Pack-added sifting recipe. Grass Seed is one of the listed results.
In the pack's quest book, the quest a quest in "?" in the the_beginning chapter has an item task for Grass Seed. It comes after another quest in that chapter.[5]
Fake Grass Block
The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for the Fake Grass Block that uses Super Glue from Create. The recipe is below.[4]

Grass Seed and Grains of Infinity
The third link is a Lychee recipe added by the pack, with the id grass_seed_from_dirt_water. It is an item-inside type recipe that takes Grains of Infinity, Grass Seed and Dirt as inputs.[4]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Just Another Grass Seed?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, the mod shows up in one quest, and it lives in the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game quest, so you'll run into it near the start of your run.[5]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the pack files. Its task is an item task: you hand in Grass Seed. That's all the quest asks for.[5]
It comes after the quest with the id 5FCEA8229BB6955C in the same chapter, so you need to finish that one first before this one unlocks.[5]
Unverified The sources don't say what the previous quest asks for, whether this quest gives a reward, or how you obtain Grass Seed in this pack. Check the in-game quest book for those details.
