What is Just Another Grass Seed?
1 part
Just Another Grass Seed adds the Grass Seed item to the pack. The pack ships version 21.1.5 of the mod, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since version 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[1]
Where it fits in progression
You meet this mod right at the start. The Grass Seed is the task of the quest a quest in "?" in the "the_beginning" chapter, so it's one of your very first objectives. That quest unlocks after the quest with ID 5FCEA8229BB6955C in the same chapter.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't explain how the Grass Seed is obtained, how it is used, or whether the pack changed any recipes or configs for this mod, so I'm leaving those out rather than guessing. There is also no in-jar guidebook or platform page to confirm them, and I can't confirm any role on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
Just Another Grass Seed adds the Grass Seed and a family of Fake Grass Blocks. In this pack, the first thing you do with the mod is get a Grass Seed. It is also the very first step in the mod's quest line.[2][3]
Step 1: Get a Grass Seed
The Grass Seed is a task in the opening quest chapter, quest a quest in "?", and it unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter. You hand in a Grass Seed to complete it.[2]
The pack adds a sifting recipe that can give you the seed. It is one of many possible outputs of that recipe, alongside crop seeds, saplings and other plant items. The sources don't give drop chances, so expect to sift more than once.[3]

Grass Seed is one of several possible results.
Unverified What the Grass Seed does once you use it in the world is not confirmed by the available sources, so check it in game.
Step 2: Craft a Fake Grass Block
The pack also adds two ways to craft the plain Fake Grass Block. Pick whichever fits what you have on hand.[3]
Step 3: Pick a biome look
Once you have a plain Fake Grass Block, you can turn it into biome-themed versions in a stonecutter. The variants are Badlands, Birch, Cheery, Dark Forest, Desert, Jungle, Mangrove, Meadow, Mushroom, Ocean, Pale Garden, Plains, Snow, Sparse Jungle and Swamp. For example, Fake Grass Block (Plains) and Fake Grass Block (Desert) each have their own stonecutting recipe.[3]

Every variant has a matching recipe that follows the same pattern.
How does Just Another Grass Seed work?
3 parts
Here's the honest picture: the sources for this mod only cover recipes. I found nothing on machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation, so I'm not going to make any of that up. What the pack's recipe data does show is how you get Fake Grass Block and Grass Seed, and how the biome variants work.[3]
Making Fake Grass Blocks
The pack adds two shapeless crafting recipes for the base Fake Grass Block. One starts from a grass block. The other uses Super Glue, dirt and moss carpet.[3]
Biome variants and the stonecutter
Biome variants are handled with stonecutting recipes that the pack adds. Put the base Fake Grass Block in a stonecutter to get a variant such as Fake Grass Block (Desert). Put a variant back in to get the base block again.[3]

The dump shows the base block converting to each of these variants:[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Badlands), Fake Grass Block (Birch) and Fake Grass Block (Cheery)[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Dark_forest), Fake Grass Block (Desert) and Fake Grass Block (Jungle)[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Mangrove), Fake Grass Block (Meadow) and Fake Grass Block (Mushroom)[3]
- Fake Grass Block (Ocean) and Fake Grass Block (Pale_garden)[3]
Every variant also has a stonecutting recipe back to the base block. That includes Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Sparse_jungle) and Fake Grass Block (Swamp). Their recipes in the other direction aren't in the part of the dump I was given, so I can't confirm them.[3]
Getting Grass Seed
Grass Seed comes from sifting. The pack adds a sifting recipe where dirt is sifted with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh (Mechanical Cloth Mesh). It's one of many possible results, shared with other seeds and crops such as wheat seeds, pumpkin seeds and sugar cane.[3]

Unverified What Grass Seed actually does once you have it, and any drop chances for the sifting recipe, aren't covered by the available sources. Check in-game before relying on them.
How do you progress through Just Another Grass Seed?
4 parts
Just Another Grass Seed has no tiers in this pack. Progression is one short step: you get Grass Seed, and then you can make decorative Fake Grass Blocks from it. Nothing in the sources shows further stages, so this section stays short.[2][3]
Step 1: The quest
The mod appears once in the quest book. It is in the chapter "the_beginning", where quest a quest in "?" has you obtain Grass Seed. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[2]
Step 2: Getting Grass Seed
The pack adds a sifting recipe that can give you Grass Seed. It is one of many possible results, mixed in with farming seeds and saplings, so expect to repeat the process. This is a Create Sifter recipe added by the pack, not something from the mod itself.[3]

Grass Seed is one of several possible outputs.
Step 3: Fake Grass Blocks
The pack adds two ways to craft the base Fake Grass Block. Both are shapeless recipes added by the pack.[3]
Step 4: Biome variants
The pack also adds stonecutting recipes that turn the base block into biome-tinted variants. Examples are Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Swamp), Fake Grass Block (Desert) and Fake Grass Block (Mushroom). Other variants cover badlands, birch, cheery, dark forest, jungle, mangrove, meadow, ocean, pale garden and sparse jungle.[3]

Every variant is made from the base block in the same way.
Each variant can be stonecut back into the base Fake Grass Block, so you can switch biome looks without crafting from scratch.[3]

How does Just Another Grass Seed work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.15.0 guide
This pack ties Just Another Grass Seed into several other mods through recipes it adds itself. These are the connections the pack's recipes and quests confirm.[4]
Getting Grass Seed by sifting dirt
The pack adds a Create Sifter recipe that sifts Dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh. Grass Seed is one of the possible results.[4]
The same sift also gives seeds and crops from other mods, plus some vanilla items. The sources do not show drop chances.[4]
- Farmer's Delight: Cabbage Seeds, Rice Crops and Tomato Seeds.[4]
- Immersive Engineering: Industrial Hemp Seeds.[4]
- Integrated Dynamics: Menril Sapling.[4]
- Vanilla: Bamboo, Beetroot Seeds, Cocoa Beans, Melon Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sugar Cane, Sweet Berries and Wheat Seeds.[4]

Added by the pack: sifting dirt can give you Grass Seed.
Fake Grass Block with Create
The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for the Fake Grass Block. It connects the mod to Create, since the recipe uses Super Glue.[4]
Added by the pack.
Grass Seed and Ender IO
The pack also adds a Lychee item-inside recipe, grass_seed_from_dirt_water, that uses Grass Seed together with Grains of Infinity from Ender IO. The recipe dump lists no output for it.[4]

Quest link
In the "the_beginning" quest chapter, quest a quest in "?" has you hand in Grass Seed. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[5]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Just Another Grass Seed?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, the mod shows up in one quest, and it lives in the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game quest, so you'll run into it near the start of your run.[6]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the pack files. Its task is an item task: you hand in Grass Seed. That's all the quest asks for.[6]
It comes after the quest with the id 5FCEA8229BB6955C in the same chapter, so you need to finish that one first before this one unlocks.[6]
Unverified The sources don't say what the previous quest asks for, whether this quest gives a reward, or how you obtain Grass Seed in this pack. Check the in-game quest book for those details.
