What is Just Another Grass Seed?
1 part
Just Another Grass Seed adds one item you'll meet early in the pack: Grass Seed. The pack ships the mod at version 21.1.5, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been part of the pack since version 1.0.1 or earlier.[1]
Where it fits in progression
You run into the mod right at the start. The quest a quest in "?" is in the "the_beginning" chapter, and its task is to obtain Grass Seed. It unlocks after another quest in that same chapter, so you'll reach it while you're still getting set up.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe how Grass Seed is obtained or used, or whether the pack changes any of its recipes or configs. Check the quest in-game for the details, because I can't confirm them here.
How do you get started with Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
The starting point for this mod in the pack is the Grass Seed. The recipe dump shows the pack adding a sifting recipe that can give you one, so that is the first thing to go and get.[3]
Step 1: Get Grass Seed
Grass Seed comes out of a sifting recipe that the pack added. The same sift can also drop other seeds and crops, so you pick up a few useful things along the way.[3]
Sifting (createsifter)

Grass Seed also counts as progress in the quest book. In the chapter "the_beginning", the quest a quest in "?" has you obtain one, and it unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter.[2]
Step 2: Make a Fake Grass Block
The pack adds two shapeless recipes for the plain Fake Grass Block. The first turns a regular grass block into a fake one.[3]

If you don't have a grass block to spare, the second recipe gives you the same plain block.[3]
The pack's second shapeless recipe for the same block.
Step 3: Pick a biome look in the stonecutter
Once you have a plain Fake Grass Block, the stonecutter turns it into biome-themed versions. These include Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Swamp) and Fake Grass Block (Desert). There are more, such as Badlands, Birch, Cheery, Dark Forest, Jungle, Mangrove, Meadow, Mushroom, Ocean, Pale Garden and Sparse Jungle.[3]

Example: the plain block into the Plains look. The other biomes follow the same pattern.
Changed your mind? Every variant can go back to the plain block in the stonecutter, so you never get stuck with a look you don't want.[3]
Example: Plains back to the plain Fake Grass Block.
How does Just Another Grass Seed work?
3 parts
This mod is simple in this pack. It has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to manage. What it adds is a family of decorative Fake Grass Blocks and a Grass Seed, and the pack's recipes show how you get and convert them.[3]
Making Fake Grass Blocks
The pack adds two shapeless crafting recipes for Fake Grass Block. Either one gives you the plain base version of the block.[3]
First way to craft the base Fake Grass Block, a shapeless recipe added by the pack.
Second way to craft the base Fake Grass Block, also shapeless and added by the pack.
Switching biome variants with the stonecutter
Once you have the base block, the pack lets you swap it for biome-themed variants in a stonecutter. These stonecutting recipes are all added by the pack. The variants confirmed from the recipes are Fake Grass Block (Badlands), Fake Grass Block (Birch), Fake Grass Block (Cheery), Fake Grass Block (Dark_forest), Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Jungle), Fake Grass Block (Mangrove), Fake Grass Block (Meadow), Fake Grass Block (Mushroom), Fake Grass Block (Ocean) and Fake Grass Block (Pale_garden).[3]
Stonecutting

Example: the base block stonecuts into the desert variant.
It also works in reverse. Stonecutting a variant turns it back into the base Fake Grass Block. That includes Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Sparse_jungle) and Fake Grass Block (Swamp), as well as the variants listed above.[3]
Example: the snow variant stonecuts back into the base block.
Getting Grass Seed
Grass Seed comes from sifting. In this pack, sifting dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh (Mechanical Cloth Mesh) can drop it, and the recipe is added by the pack. It shares its output list with many other seeds and crops, such as rice, cabbage seeds, tomato seeds, sugar cane and bamboo.[3]

How do you progress through Just Another Grass Seed?
4 parts
This mod doesn't have tiers in the usual sense. In this pack it is a short side path with three steps: get a Grass Seed from sifting, hit the quest that asks for it, and craft Fake Grass Blocks.[2][3]
Step 1: Getting the Grass Seed
The pack adds a sifting recipe for Grass Seed. You sift plain dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh, and the Grass Seed is one of many possible results. The same recipe also gives farming seeds and saplings from other mods, plus vanilla crops.[3]

Step 2: The quest
The quest a quest in "?" sits in the "the_beginning" chapter and has no title. Its task is to obtain a Grass Seed, and it unlocks after one other quest.[2]
Step 3: Fake Grass Blocks
The pack gives you two ways to make a Fake Grass Block. Both are shapeless crafting recipes added by the pack.[3]
Biome variants
Once you have a plain Fake Grass Block, you can turn it into any of the biome variants in a stonecutter. Each variant can also be turned back into the plain block the same way.[3]
Here is one example of the conversion, using the Jungle variant.[3]

How does Just Another Grass Seed work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.15.0 guide
This pack ties Just Another Grass Seed into several other mods through recipes it adds itself. These are the connections the pack's recipes and quests confirm.[4]
Getting Grass Seed by sifting dirt
The pack adds a Create Sifter recipe that sifts Dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh. Grass Seed is one of the possible results.[4]
The same sift also gives seeds and crops from other mods, plus some vanilla items. The sources do not show drop chances.[4]
- Farmer's Delight: Cabbage Seeds, Rice Crops and Tomato Seeds.[4]
- Immersive Engineering: Industrial Hemp Seeds.[4]
- Integrated Dynamics: Menril Sapling.[4]
- Vanilla: Bamboo, Beetroot Seeds, Cocoa Beans, Melon Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sugar Cane, Sweet Berries and Wheat Seeds.[4]

Added by the pack: sifting dirt can give you Grass Seed.
Fake Grass Block with Create
The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for the Fake Grass Block. It connects the mod to Create, since the recipe uses Super Glue.[4]
Added by the pack.
Grass Seed and Ender IO
The pack also adds a Lychee item-inside recipe, grass_seed_from_dirt_water, that uses Grass Seed together with Grains of Infinity from Ender IO. The recipe dump lists no output for it.[4]

Quest link
In the "the_beginning" quest chapter, quest a quest in "?" has you hand in Grass Seed. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[5]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Just Another Grass Seed?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, the mod shows up in one quest, and it lives in the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game quest, so you'll run into it near the start of your run.[6]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the pack files. Its task is an item task: you hand in Grass Seed. That's all the quest asks for.[6]
It comes after the quest with the id 5FCEA8229BB6955C in the same chapter, so you need to finish that one first before this one unlocks.[6]
Unverified The sources don't say what the previous quest asks for, whether this quest gives a reward, or how you obtain Grass Seed in this pack. Check the in-game quest book for those details.
