Stuck? Why it might not be working
- A factory gauge shows ? and will not linkIn All the Mods 10 8.2, Create 6.0.10, a factory gauge shows ? and sends nothing while any saved link position on its frequency is not loaded. Redstone 1 to 14 does not choose which stock link is asked, and signal 15 removes the link. A recipe gauge sends again when a null inventory was stored as an empty snapshot and the next real read subtracts the whole inventory from the promise.Checked against the versions in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0.

What is Create?
1 part
Create is a mod about building, decoration and what its authors call aesthetic automation. You don't run your base through a pile of machine menus. You build contraptions out of animated, moving parts that work together, and the mod leaves as many of the design choices as possible up to you.[1]
If you like watching your factory actually move, with spinning shafts, running belts and presses stamping away, this is the mod for you. This pack includes Create version 6.0.10.[1][2]
Where it fits in this pack
Create has its own quest chapter in this pack. Everything starts with "Welcome to Create!" quest, which asks for Andesite Alloy. That quest opens up several branches at once.[3]
- Rotation basics: "Early-game Rotational Force" quest asks for Shaft, Cogwheel and Large Cogwheel. It leads to power sources like the Hand Crank, Water Wheel and Windmill Bearing.[3]
- Andesite machines: "Andesite Casing" quest asks for Andesite Casing. It unlocks quests for the Mechanical Belt, Mechanical Drill, Millstone and Mechanical Press, among others.[3]
- After the press: "Plates" quest leads on to the Mechanical Mixer with the Blaze Burner, the Encased Fan, Fluid Pipe and the Engineer's Goggles.[3]
- Other branches from the starting quest include Copper Casing, which leads to the Spout and Item Drain. There is also a branch for Polished Rose Quartz and Electron Tube, and one for the Schematicannon.[3]
How do you get started with Create?
5 parts
Everything in this pack's Create quest chapter starts with one item: Andesite Alloy. Its quest, "Welcome to Create!" quest, unlocks almost every early branch of the chapter. Create itself calls Andesite Alloy its most important resource, so make a good stack of it before you do anything else.[3][4]
Unverified The in-pack recipes for Andesite Alloy and Andesite Casing weren't in the recipe list available for this section. Check them in-game before you gather materials.
Step 1: Shafts and cogwheels
Your next quest, "Early-game Rotational Force" quest, asks for a Shaft, a Cogwheel and a Large Cogwheel. This quest is the gateway to your first power quests and to Andesite Casing, so knock it out right away.[3]

Step 3: Andesite Casing
Also unlocked by the cogwheel quest is "Andesite Casing" quest, which asks for Andesite Casing. You make it by applying Andesite Alloy to stripped wood, and it's the basic casing for your machines.[3][4]
This is the big unlock of the early game. Finishing it opens quests for the Mechanical Belt, Depot, Gearbox, Andesite Funnel, Chute, Millstone, Mechanical Drill and the Mechanical Press, among others.[3]

Step 4: The Mechanical Press
Aim for "Plates" quest next. It asks for a Mechanical Press plus one plate: Iron Plate, Copper Plate or Gold Plate. Create describes the press as the machine that makes sheets.[3][4]
The press quest opens up a long list of follow-ups. These include the Engineer's Goggles, Encased Fan, Mechanical Mixer with the Blaze Burner, Fluid Pipe, Fluid Tank, Item Vault and Mechanical Saw.[3]

Side branches after the alloy
- "Copper Casing" quest asks for Copper Casing, made by applying Copper Ingots to stripped wood. It's a waterproof casing and leads into quests for the Spout, Item Drain and Hose Pulley.[3][4]
- "Clipboard" quest asks for a Clipboard, a cheap early pickup.[3]
- "Schematicannon" quest asks for the Schematic Table and Schematicannon.[3]

How does Create work?
8 parts
Create is built around contraptions: animated components that work together in the world instead of inside menus. Almost every design choice is left to you, so there is rarely one correct layout. The mod's in-game visual documentation, called Ponder, walks you through its mechanics and gadgets. Because the vanilla recipe book can't show everything, a recipe viewer such as JEI is strongly recommended.[1]
Rotational power and stress
Create machines run on rotation, which the mod calls torque. You can generate it with a Water Wheel, an assembled windmill or a Steam Engine. Windmills can be built up to a maximum strength, and a boiler can run up to a maximum power level.[4]
You move rotation around with shafts and cogwheels. Connecting a Large Cogwheel to a Small Cogwheel changes the speed of everything after it. A Rotation Speed Controller lets you fine-tune the speed, and a Mechanical Belt can link two Shaft blocks together.[4]
Every machine puts load on its network. Wear Engineer's Goggles and read a Stressometer to get an exact figure for how much of your capacity is being used. Keep the Goggles together with a Wrench as your core toolkit.[4]
If you end up with Create Connected's inverted clutch or inverted gearshift, this pack adds shapeless recipes to turn them back into a regular Clutch or Gearshift.[7]

Materials and casings
Andesite Alloy is described as Create's most important resource. Applying it to stripped wood gives you a basic casing for your machines. Brass Ingots come from a Blaze-heated Mechanical Mixer, and applying them to stripped wood makes a casing for more sophisticated machines. Copper Ingots applied the same way give a waterproof casing.[4]
Processing machines
- The Mechanical Press makes sheets. Paired with a Basin, it compacts larger amounts of items into fewer ones.[4]
- The Mechanical Mixer combines ingredients. Some mixing needs Blaze heat, which you get from a Blaze Burner.[4]
- The Millstone pulverises materials. A pair of Crushing Wheels also processes materials and can run up to a maximum speed.[4]
- An Encased Fan processes materials in bulk, and an upright Mechanical Saw handles sawing.[4]
- A Deployer acts as a copy of you, using items on blocks. Mechanical Crafters handle crafting automatically, but they get very slow if you starve them of rotation speed.[4]
- A Spout fills fluid-containing items, and an Item Drain empties them. Items can travel across a whole row of Item Drains.[4]
Fluids
Copper is the base of Create's fluid handling. Place and power a Mechanical Pump to move fluid through pipes. The pulling end of a Fluid Pipe or pump can collect water, and pipes can even pull honey straight from a Bee Nest or Beehive. Use your Wrench on a pipe that contains fluid to turn it into a see-through glass pipe.[4]
A Hose Pulley lowers into a body of fluid and either drains or fills it. A large enough lake counts as infinite, and that includes lava. In this pack, which fluids can be drained infinitely is controlled by tag, through fluids.bottomlessFluidMode set to ALLOW_BY_TAG.[4][8]
The Fluid Tank stores fluid and forms the base for boilers and Steam Whistles. If you have Create Connected's Fluid Vessel, this pack lets you convert it into a Fluid Tank.[4][7]

Moving items
- Mechanical Belts carry items. Funnels, including ones mounted on belts, extract items from containers or insert items into them.[4]
- Chutes transport items, and a Weighted Ejector launches items or even you. It can throw a player more than 30 blocks.[4]
- A Mechanical Arm picks up and delivers items. It can be programmed with 10 or more output locations and can keep a Blaze Burner fed.[4]
- Filters let machines pick which items they handle. You can copy a block's settings, such as its filter, with a right-click of the Clipboard and apply them elsewhere with a left-click.[4][7]

Filter items can be wiped by crafting them on their own. The List Filter and Attribute Filter each have a clearing recipe.[7]
If you have Create Connected's Item Silo, this pack lets you convert it into an Item Vault.[7]

Packages and logistics
Create's package system goes one step beyond belts. A Packager boxes up items from an inventory, and a Frogport catches packages from a Chain Conveyor. Factory Gauges can trigger package requests automatically. Put a mob to work at a Stock Ticker to place requests, or set out a Table Cloth to put items up for sale. You'll also collect Cardboard along the way, which crafts into cardboard armor and a sword.[4][7]
Contraptions and remote control
Super Glue groups blocks together so they can move as one contraption. You can mount structures on bearings such as the Clockwork Bearing, lower them with a Rope Pulley, or put them on minecarts. Contraptions can carry drills, saws or harvesters, and a Portable Storage Interface takes items out of a moving contraption or puts them in. Trains go further still, using tracks, signals and a Train Schedule for the driver.[4]
For wireless redstone, a Redstone Link carries a signal. A Linked Controller lets you activate Redstone Links from your hand.[4]

- A backtank holds 900 air, and each point of air equals one second of underwater breathing. Each level of the Capacity enchantment adds 300 more. The pack keeps both mod defaults.[8]
- One filled backtank covers 1000 free Extendo Grip actions and 200 free Potato Cannon shots. Both are the mod defaults.[8]
How do you progress through Create?
5 parts
Create's quest chapter in this pack is one big tree, and almost everything grows out of a single starting quest: "Welcome to Create!" quest, which asks you to make Andesite Alloy. From there the tree fans out into a few clear stages: basic kinetics, andesite machines, the press-gated mid game, and a late game built around brass, precision parts and trains.[3]
Stage 1: Andesite Alloy and your first branches
Finishing the Andesite Alloy quest opens several side branches at once. The main one is "Early-game Rotational Force" quest, where you make a Cogwheel, a Large Cogwheel and a Shaft. The others are side goals you can pick up whenever you like.[3]
- "Schematicannon" quest asks for the Schematicannon and the Schematic Table.[3]
- "Copper Casing" quest is the Copper Casing quest, which leads to the Spout, Hose Pulley, Item Drain and Portable Fluid Interface.[3]
- "Electron Tube" quest wants Polished Rose Quartz and an Electron Tube, and unlocks Contraption Controls and the Adjustable Chain Gearshift.[3]
- Smaller quests cover the White Postbox, the Item Hatch and the Clipboard.[3]
One of the first parts you'll need for the gears quest.
Stage 2: Power and Andesite Casing
Once you have your gears, the tree branches into power sources and gear. You'll find the Hand Crank, the Windmill Bearing with Windmill Sail, and the Water Wheel and Large Water Wheel. The copper diving set ("Copper Diving Suit" quest) also sits here, and it upgrades later into the netherite diving set in "Netherite Diving Suit" quest.[3]
The key quest in this stage is "Andesite Casing" quest, which asks for Andesite Casing. It's the biggest hub in the chapter. It unlocks the Mechanical Belt, Depot, gearboxes, gearshift and clutch, pistons, the Mechanical Bearing, gantries, chassis, the Mechanical Drill, the Millstone, the Chain Conveyor, andesite funnels, chutes and tunnels, and more.[3]

Stage 3: The Mechanical Press gate
Out of the andesite hub comes "Plates" quest. Here you build a Mechanical Press and also turn in an iron, copper or gold plate. Treat this quest as the gate to the mid game: a huge chunk of the chapter requires it.[3]

- Processing: the Mechanical Mixer with Blaze Burner, the Encased Fan, the Mechanical Saw, and the Mechanical Plough with Mechanical Harvester.[3]
- Fluids: the Fluid Pipe leads to the Mechanical Pump and Fluid Valve, and the Fluid Tank leads to the Steam Engine.[3]
- Logistics: the Item Vault, Weighted Ejector, Rope Pulley, Super Glue and the Brown Toolbox.[3]
- Redstone and info: the Engineer's Goggles, the Redstone Contact and the Transmitter, which leads to the Redstone Link and Display Link.[3]
The mixer branch also kicks off packaging. Pulp leads to Cardboard, which opens cardboard armor and the Packager with Re-Packager. On a separate line, the item vault leads to the Package Frogport. Finishing both the vault quest and the transmitter quest unlocks the Stock Link, which leads to the Stock Ticker and Redstone Requester.[3]
Stage 4: Brass, precision and trains
The late-game quests cluster around brass. Brass Casing unlocks the Elevator Pulley, the Threshold Switch and the Smart Observer. The Mechanical Crafter and brass funnels and tunnels sit alongside it. The Deployer leads on to Train Track and to the Precision Mechanism.[3]
The Precision Mechanism is the last big unlock. It opens the Mechanical Arm, the Rotation Speed Controller and the Factory Gauge. Together with the mechanical crafter quest, it also opens the Potato Cannon, the Wand Of Symmetry and the Extendo Grip.[3]

Trains have their own branch starting from Train Casing. From there you get the Train Station, Train Signal, Train Observer and Train Controls. The Train Schedule quest shares the same prerequisite as Train Casing.[3]
Unverified The brass casing, brass funnel, mechanical crafter, deployer, smart chute, smart fluid pipe, train casing and train schedule quests depend on prerequisite quests that aren't included in the quest data used here, so their exact position in the tree could not be confirmed.
Recipe changes in this pack
The core Create recipes shown here are the mod's own recipes. The pack has changed a set of conversion recipes that turn Create Connected variants back into standard Create parts: the Clutch, Gearshift, Fluid Tank, Item Vault and Redstone Link.[7]

How does Create work with other mods?
5 parts
Create is at the centre of a lot of this pack's cross-mod recipes. Add-ons are built straight from Create parts, other mods' ores and materials run through Create's crushing and washing, and Wheat Flour shows up in food recipes from several mods. Many of these recipes are changed or added by the pack, so trust the in-game recipes shown here over any mod defaults.[7]
Create Connected
Create Connected adds extra kinetic blocks on top of Create's, like the Brake, the Kinetic Battery and the 6-way Gearbox. The pack has changed all of these recipes, so trust the in-game versions shown here.[7]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Create?
4 parts
Create gets its own quest chapter in this pack, simply called create. The quests are untitled and each one asks you to obtain specific Create items. They unlock in a branching tree, so you can follow whichever line you're most excited about.[3]
Everything starts with "Welcome to Create!" quest, which only asks for Andesite Alloy. There's also a standalone quest, "Mechanical Roller" quest, for the Mechanical Roller, which has no listed prerequisite.[3]
First branches from Andesite Alloy
- "Early-game Rotational Force" quest asks for a Cogwheel, Large Cogwheel and Shaft. This is the key power quest.[3]
- "Copper Casing" quest asks for Copper Casing, and "Electron Tube" quest asks for Polished Rose Quartz and an Electron Tube.[3]
- Smaller side quests cover the Schematicannon with the Schematic Table in "Schematicannon" quest, the White Postbox in "Postbox" quest, the Item Hatch in "Item Hatch" quest and the Clipboard in "Clipboard" quest.[3]
Power sources and Andesite Casing
The cogwheel quest opens up several paths. "Hand Crank" quest asks for a Hand Crank, "Windmills" quest for a Windmill Bearing and Windmill Sail, and "Water Wheel" quest for both water wheels. "Copper Diving Suit" quest asks for the copper diving set, and it leads to the netherite set in "Netherite Diving Suit" quest. Most importantly, it unlocks "Andesite Casing" quest for Andesite Casing.[3]
Andesite Casing is the chapter's biggest hub. Its quests cover the Mechanical Belt, Depot, Millstone, Mechanical Drill, Mechanical Bearing, Cart Assembler, Chain Conveyor and Portable Storage Interface. They also cover pistons, gantries, chassis, gearboxes, the gearshift and clutch, the Encased Chain Drive, the Speedometer, and the andesite funnel, chute and tunnel.[3]
The Mechanical Press hub
"Plates" quest asks for an iron, copper or gold plate plus a Mechanical Press. This quest unlocks a second big wave of quests. That wave includes the Engineer's Goggles, Encased Fan, Mechanical Saw, Super Glue, Item Vault, Transmitter, Fluid Pipe and Fluid Tank. It also includes the mixer and Blaze Burner quest "Mechanical Mixer" quest.[3]
- Fluids and steam: the fluid pipe quest leads to the Mechanical Pump and Fluid Valve. The fluid tank quest leads to the Steam Engine in "Steam Engine" quest.[3]
- Packaging: the mixer quest leads to Pulp and then to Cardboard in "Cardboard" quest. Cardboard unlocks the cardboard armour and the Packager with Re-Packager.[3]
- Logistics: the item vault quest unlocks the Package Frogport. "Stock Link" quest for the Stock Link needs both the vault and transmitter quests, and it leads to the Stock Ticker and Redstone Requester.[3]
- Redstone and displays: the transmitter quest unlocks the Redstone Link and Display Link. "Display Board" quest for the display board and nixie tube needs both the display link quest and the rose quartz quest.[3]
Brass, precision and trains
The late part of the chapter includes Brass Casing in "Brass Casing" quest. That quest leads to the Elevator Pulley, Threshold Switch and Smart Observer. "Deployer" quest for the Deployer leads to Train Track and to Precision Mechanism in "Precision Mechanism" quest. The precision mechanism quest unlocks the Mechanical Arm, Factory Gauge and Rotation Speed Controller. Together with the Mechanical Crafter quest, it also unlocks the potato cannon, wand of symmetry and extendo grip.[3]
For trains, "Train Casing" quest asks for Train Casing and branches into the train signal, observer, controls and station quests. A separate quest asks for a Train Schedule.[3]
Unverified Some of these later quests (the brass, deployer and train casing lines, the mechanical crafter, the smart chute and smart fluid pipe, and the train schedule) require quests that aren't included in the quest data used here. Their exact unlock requirements are therefore unverified.
Which Create config options matter?
4 parts
Good news: you don't need to relearn Create for this pack. The only value the pack's config files flag as changed from the mod default is a cosmetic one. client.mainMenuConfigButtonRow is set to 0 instead of 2, which hides the Create config button on the main menu. The in-game menu button is still there on row 3, set by client.ingameMenuConfigButtonRow.[5][8]
One setting matters a lot on a skyblock map: worldgen.disableWorldGen is set to true. That stops all worldgen added by Create from taking effect, so don't expect to find any of Create's world generation.[6]
Stress and power
Stress is fully active, because kinetics.disableStress is false. So you have to plan your power sources. Here is how much stress capacity each source provides in this pack:[8]
- Hand crank: 8, set by kinetics.stressValues.v2.capacity.hand_crank.[8]
- Water wheel: 32, and large water wheel: 128.[8]
- Windmill bearing: 512. A windmill needs at least 8 sail-type blocks to assemble, and you gain 1 RPM for every 8 sails, set by kinetics.windmillSailsPerRPM.[8]
- Steam engine: 1,024, and creative motor: 16,384.[8]
The heaviest consumers are the crushing wheel and the mechanical press, each with a stress impact of 8. Fans, mechanical arms and mechanical crafters sit at 2. Shafts, cogwheels, gearboxes and belts cost 0. Rotation speed is capped at 256 RPM by kinetics.maxRotationSpeed.[8]
Processing
- Bulk processing is off. Presses and saws don't process whole stacks at once, because recipes.bulkPressing and recipes.bulkCutting are both false.[8]
- The mixer can't run shapeless crafting recipes, and the press can't compact 2x2 or 3x3 recipes. Both recipes.allowShapelessInMixer and recipes.allowShapedSquareInPress are false.[8]
- Mechanical crafters can run any standard crafting recipe, saws can do stonecutting, and a mixer with a basin can brew supported potions.[8]
- Fan processing takes 150 game ticks, set by kinetics.encasedFan.fanProcessingTime.[8]
Fluids and storage
- Fluid tanks hold 8 buckets per block and can be up to 32 blocks tall.[8]
- Item vaults hold 20 stacks per block, set by logistics.vaultCapacity.[8]
- A hose pulley treats a body of fluid as infinite once it finds 10,000 fluid blocks. Which fluids can be drained infinitely is controlled by tag, because fluids.bottomlessFluidMode is set to ALLOW_BY_TAG.[8]
- Open-ended pipes are allowed to place fluid source blocks, through fluids.pipesPlaceFluidSourceBlocks.[8]
Contraptions and trains
- Contraptions can move up to 2,048 blocks, and belts can be up to 20 blocks long.[8]
- Spawners and budding amethyst are set to NO_PICKUP for contraptions. Obsidian and reinforced deepslate are set to UNMOVABLE.[8]
- Harvesters replant crops and skip crops that aren't fully grown.[8]
- Trains reach a top speed of 28 blocks per second, or 40 when powered. They can hurt mobs and players they collide with, because trains.trainsCauseDamage is true.[8]
What changed in Create between versions?
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Create version 6.0.10, packaged as the file create-1.21.1-6.0.10.jar. That's the version this whole guide is written against, so everything you read here applies to 6.0.10 as it runs in this pack.[2]
The pack's records show Create has been in FTB Skies 2 since version 1.22.0 or earlier, so it isn't a brand-new addition in this release.[2]
Unverified No pack changelog entries mention Create, and no changelogs for the shipped jar are available here. So there's no confirmed record of which earlier pack releases included Create, which versions they used, or what changed between them. If you're coming from an older version of the pack, check the official changelogs yourself before counting on any specific change.
