What is Just Another Grass Seed?
2 parts
Just Another Grass Seed adds the Grass Seed item to the pack. The pack ships version 21.1.5, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, and it has been included since the pack's 1.0.1 release or earlier.[1]
Where it fits in progression
You meet this mod right at the start. The opening chapter, "the_beginning", has a quest (a quest in "?") whose task is to obtain the Grass Seed. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter, so it sits among your very first steps.[2]
What we can't confirm
Unverified The sources don't say how you obtain the grass seed, what it does when used, or how the mod is configured in this pack. No recipe, config option or in-mod guide is available, so treat those details as unverified.
How do you get started with Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
This mod has a short, clear starting path. You get the Grass Seed first, then the Fake Grass Block, then the biome-flavoured variants of that block.[2][3]
Get your first Grass Seed
The first item to get is Grass Seed. The pack's quest book has a quest for it, a quest in "?", in the "the_beginning" chapter. Its task is to have the seed in your inventory, and it comes after another quest in that chapter.[2]
The pack adds a sifting recipe that uses the Mechanical Cloth Mesh on dirt, and the seed is one of its possible results. That recipe also lists crop seeds and plants such as rice, tomato seeds and sugar cane, so you may need to sift a few times. The sources here do not show drop chances.[3]

Added by the pack. Grass Seed is one of several possible results.
Make a Fake Grass Block
Next up is Fake Grass Block. The pack adds two shapeless recipes for it, and you can use whichever suits what you have on hand. The first starts from a grass block, and the second uses different ingredients.[3]
Added by the pack. Starts from a grass block.

Switch biome looks with the stonecutter
Once you have a Fake Grass Block, the pack lets you change its look in a stonecutter. The variants include Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Swamp), Fake Grass Block (Jungle) and Fake Grass Block (Mushroom). There are also badlands, birch, cheery, dark forest, mangrove, meadow, ocean, pale garden and sparse jungle versions.[3]

It works both ways. Every variant can be stonecut back into the plain Fake Grass Block, so you are not locked into your first choice.[3]

How does Just Another Grass Seed work?
4 parts
Honest heads-up: the sources don't document any machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling for Just Another Grass Seed. In this pack it comes down to a handful of recipes around Fake Grass Block and Grass Seed. Here is what those recipes tell us.[3]
Getting the base Fake Grass Block
The pack adds two shapeless crafting recipes for the plain Fake Grass Block. Either one works, so use whichever is easier for you to supply.[3]
First shapeless recipe for the plain Fake Grass Block, added by the pack.
Second shapeless recipe for the same block, also added by the pack.
Switching biome variants with the stonecutter
The mod has a whole set of biome-themed Fake Grass Blocks, such as Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Swamp) and Fake Grass Block (Pale_garden). In this pack you switch between them in a stonecutter. The recipes are added by the pack through KubeJS.[3]
The base block turns into a variant, and a variant turns back into the base block. You can see one of each direction below.[3]

Stonecutting from a biome variant back to the base block (Desert shown).
Every one of the 15 variants in the recipe dump has a recipe back to the plain block. The dump is cut off, so I can't confirm that every variant also has its own forward recipe from the base block. The forward recipes I can see are Badlands, Birch, Cheery, Dark Forest, Desert, Jungle, Mangrove, Meadow, Mushroom, Ocean and Pale Garden.[3]
Where Grass Seed comes from
Grass Seed shows up as one possible result of a sifting recipe the pack adds. It sifts dirt with the pack's cloth mesh, and the same recipe also gives a range of other seeds and plants. The sources don't show drop chances, so I can't tell you how often the Grass Seed appears.[3]

What isn't confirmed
Unverified What Grass Seed does once you have it (for example how it spreads or what it can be used on), plus any machine, power or automation behaviour for this mod. The sources here contain no guidebook, config files or item descriptions covering these.
How do you progress through Just Another Grass Seed?
3 parts
This mod has no tier ladder in the pack. What the sources show is a short chain: get Grass Seed, make a Fake Grass Block, then convert it into biome-colored variants.[2][3]
Step 1: Get Grass Seed
The pack adds a sifting recipe that gives you Grass Seed from dirt, using the pack's cloth mesh. It sits in a result list alongside several crop seeds and saplings, so it is one possible result rather than a guaranteed one.[3]
Sifting (createsifter)
Recipe id: ftb:sifting/minecraft_dirt_with_cloth_mesh
Grass Seed is one of several possible results of this pack-added sifting recipe.
Grass Seed also shows up in the pack's quest book. In the_beginning chapter, a quest in "?" has Grass Seed as its task. It unlocks after another quest, and it has no title in the pack files.[2]
Step 2: Craft Fake Grass Blocks
The pack gives you two shapeless ways to make Fake Grass Block. The first converts a regular grass block directly.[3]
Shapeless recipe added by the pack.
The second is also added by the pack and builds the block from other materials instead of a grass block.[3]
Second shapeless recipe added by the pack.
Step 3: Pick a biome variant
Once you have a plain Fake Grass Block, the pack lets you convert it in a stonecutter into biome-specific versions. These include Fake Grass Block (Plains), Fake Grass Block (Desert), Fake Grass Block (Snow), Fake Grass Block (Swamp), Fake Grass Block (Jungle) and Fake Grass Block (Mushroom). Others cover the badlands, birch, cheery, dark forest, mangrove, meadow, ocean, pale garden and sparse jungle looks.[3]
Stonecutting
Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/jags_desert_fake_grass_block
Every variant follows this same stonecutting pattern.
Going back works too. Every variant has its own stonecutting recipe that turns it back into the plain Fake Grass Block, so picking the wrong biome look does not cost you the block.[3]
How does Just Another Grass Seed work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.15.0 guide
This pack ties Just Another Grass Seed into several other mods through recipes it adds itself. These are the connections the pack's recipes and quests confirm.[4]
Getting Grass Seed by sifting dirt
The pack adds a Create Sifter recipe that sifts Dirt with a Mechanical Cloth Mesh. Grass Seed is one of the possible results.[4]
The same sift also gives seeds and crops from other mods, plus some vanilla items. The sources do not show drop chances.[4]
- Farmer's Delight: Cabbage Seeds, Rice Crops and Tomato Seeds.[4]
- Immersive Engineering: Industrial Hemp Seeds.[4]
- Integrated Dynamics: Menril Sapling.[4]
- Vanilla: Bamboo, Beetroot Seeds, Cocoa Beans, Melon Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sugar Cane, Sweet Berries and Wheat Seeds.[4]
Sifting (createsifter)

Added by the pack: sifting dirt can give you Grass Seed.
Fake Grass Block with Create
The pack adds a shapeless crafting recipe for the Fake Grass Block. It connects the mod to Create, since the recipe uses Super Glue.[4]
Added by the pack.
Grass Seed and Ender IO
The pack also adds a Lychee item-inside recipe, grass_seed_from_dirt_water, that uses Grass Seed together with Grains of Infinity from Ender IO. The recipe dump lists no output for it.[4]

Quest link
In the "the_beginning" quest chapter, quest a quest in "?" has you hand in Grass Seed. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[5]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Just Another Grass Seed?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, the mod shows up in one quest, and it lives in the "the_beginning" chapter. It's an early-game quest, so you'll run into it near the start of your run.[6]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title in the pack files. Its task is an item task: you hand in Grass Seed. That's all the quest asks for.[6]
It comes after the quest with the id 5FCEA8229BB6955C in the same chapter, so you need to finish that one first before this one unlocks.[6]
Unverified The sources don't say what the previous quest asks for, whether this quest gives a reward, or how you obtain Grass Seed in this pack. Check the in-game quest book for those details.
