What is Farmer's Delight?
2 parts
Farmer's Delight is a cozy expansion to farming and cooking. With a simple cooking system and familiar ingredients, you prepare a wide variety of hearty meals, from sandwiches and stews to desserts and big feasts. It also adds utilities like a way to improve the soil your crops grow in, new tools and weapons, and decorations for your builds.[1]
This pack includes version 1.3.4 of the mod (the 1.21.1 build).[2]
Getting started
The mod's own advancements explain many of the basic concepts, so they are a good first stop. Pick up any item, then press L (the default key) to open the Advancements screen.[1]
Where it fits in the pack's quests
The pack's quest book puts the mod in the "cooking_and_brewing" chapter. Several quests there have nothing before them: the Cooking Pot, the Cutting Board, the Pie Crust, and the crops Cabbage, Onion and Tomato. The rest of the chapter follows from the cooking pot, cutting board and pie crust quests:[3]
- Cooking pot: after "Cooking Pot" quest you can go for Stuffed Pumpkin, Pasta with Meatballs and Apple Cider.[3]
- Cutting board: after "To The Chopping Board" quest come Cooked Chicken Cuts, which leads on to the Chicken Sandwich, and the Beef Patty, which leads on to the Hamburger.[3]
- Pie crust: after "Baking a Pie" quest you can make the Apple Pie, the Chocolate Pie and the Sweet Berry Cheesecake.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show whether the ATM Star path uses this mod. Check the pack's quest book to see how these cooking quests connect to the rest of the progression.
How do you get started with Farmer's Delight?
5 parts
The pack gives you a questline for Farmer's Delight, and it doubles as a handy order to learn the mod in. Start with the tools, then the crops, then the real meals. Every step below links to the exact in-pack recipe.[3]
Make a Cutting Board
One of the starting quests in the cooking chapter asks for a Cutting Board, and it makes sense as your first craft. The mod's advancements describe it as a way to break an item down with a tool in your hand.[3][4]

A Cutting Board unlocks the knife-based recipes. Cutting a Wild Onion with a knife gives you an Onion. Cutting a Tomato Shrub gives you a Tomato and Tomato Seeds. Both are easy ways to get started on crops.[5]
Make a Cooking Pot
Next comes the Cooking Pot, where most of the real meals get made. Placing one down is also a Farmer's Delight advancement, which the mod describes as the start of preparing meals. In the pack, the pot quest leads on to the Stuffed Pumpkin, Pasta with Meatballs and Apple Cider quests.[3][4]

Apple Cider is a good first pot recipe because it is a short one.[5]
Get your crops going
The chapter also has quests for Cabbage, Onion and Tomato. Crates can be unpacked back into single crops, for example Cabbage Crate into Cabbage, and the same goes for the Onion and Tomato crates.[3][5]
The pack also adds Cloche recipes for these crops. Seeds and plain dirt are enough for a start, and the pack adds variants for better soils such as Rich Soil.[5]
This Cloche recipe is added by the pack.

Pie Crust and desserts
The Pie Crust quest leads on to three dessert quests: Apple Pie, Chocolate Pie and Sweet Berry Cheesecake.[3]

If you use Create, the pack has changed the mixing recipe for Pie Crust. It also changed the Create filling recipe for Chocolate Pie, so check these versions rather than the mod defaults.[5]

Meat and sandwiches
Two quests follow the Cutting Board quest: Cooked Chicken Cuts and Beef Patty. Cooked Chicken Cuts can be made by cutting cooked chicken with a knife.[3][5]
Cutting (farmersdelight)

The Beef Patty can be cooked in a furnace, a smoker or over a campfire.[5]
Those two lead to the Chicken Sandwich and Hamburger quests. The Hamburger is where your Onions and Tomatoes pay off.[3][5]

How does Farmer's Delight work?
7 parts
Farmer's Delight describes itself as a cozy expansion to farming and cooking. Here is how its systems work in this pack, as far as the sources explain them.[1]
The Cooking Pot
The Cooking Pot is where you prepare meals: the mod's advancement for it asks you to put one down and start preparing meals. The mod also has a Cooking Pot tooltip for several servings, which reads "Holds %s servings of:".[4]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: farmersdelight:cooking_pot
crafting.enableCookingPotRecipeBook is set to true in this pack. Its description says that when it is enabled, the Cooking Pot provides a Recipe Book on its interface, similar to the one on Crafting Tables and Furnaces.[4][6]
Cutting Board and Knife
The mod's advancement for the Cutting Board says to hold a tool and use the board to break an item down. The option crafting.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus sets how much each level of Fortune increases the odds of rare results on the board. The pack sets it to 0.1, the same as the mod default, and 0.0 would disable it.[4][6]
Crafting Shaped
| any plank | any plank | |
| any plank | any plank |
Recipe id: farmersdelight:cutting_board
For automation, overrides.enableCuttingBoardDispenserBehavior is set to true in this pack. Its description says that when it is enabled, a Dispenser is able to operate a Cutting Board in front of itself, using stored items as cutting tools.[4][6]
The Knife is described as a lightweight melee weapon with fast swings and gentle damage. It can harvest Straw from grasses, and the mod's advancement for it says it scavenges extra goods from plants and animals. A Knife can also extract Ham from Pigs or Hoglins.[4]
Skillet and cooking on the go
The Skillet lets you cook while you move around. Stand near heat and hold the food in your other hand. You can also sneak to place the Skillet down as a block.[4]
Organic Compost and Rich Soil
The mod's advancement says Organic Compost slowly decays into Rich Soil, an upgrade for your farms, and that it composts better with sun, water and mushrooms. The recipe viewer entries say decomposition is sped up by adjacent water and by adjacent activators.[4]
Crops planted on Rich Soil get a chance of a bone meal boost. farming.richSoilBoostChance is 0.2 in this pack, the same as the mod default. Rich Soil is also what you need to grow a Mushroom Colony to full maturity so you can shear it.[4][6]
This pack also has a crafting route for Organic Compost that uses tree bark.[5]
Crops and ropes
- The mod's advancement for Rice asks you to plant grains of Rice in a shallow water puddle.[4]
- The mod's advancement says to hang rope above a tomato crop to make it grow taller. With debug.enableTomatoRopePermanence set to true in this pack, its description says tomato crops hanging on rope force-place a Rope block when broken. The default rope tomato vines leave behind is this mod's own rope.[4][6]
- Tomatoes can climb any rope tagged as a Farmer's Delight rope, because farming.enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes is on. Those blocks get converted into the default tomato rope.[4][6]
- You can reel rope back from bottom to top by sneak-using on it with an empty hand, since settings.enableRopeReeling is on.[4][6]
Storage crates
Cabbage can be packed into a Cabbage Crate. crafting.enableVanillaCropCrates is set to true in this pack, and its description says that when it is enabled, storage crates for vanilla crops become craftable.[5][6]
Meals, soups and effects
Comfort and Nourishment are the effects to know. Comfort provides natural regeneration regardless of how hungry you are. Nourishment prevents the food meter from decreasing, except when healing with saturation.[4]
overrides.enableVanillaSoupExtraEffects is set to true in this pack, and its description says that when it is enabled, Minecraft soups and stews grant Nourishment when eaten. With overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems enabled, the items in overrides.stack_size.soupItemList (mushroom stew, beetroot soup and rabbit stew in this pack) become stackable to 16. overrides.enableRabbitStewBuff is also true, and its description says that when it is enabled, Rabbit Stew has improved food stats.[4][6]
The mod's recipe info says wheat can be turned into Dough by crafting it with a Water Bucket, and that the bucket's water won't be depleted.[4]
How do you progress through Farmer's Delight?
4 parts
Farmer's Delight progression in this pack lives in the cooking_and_brewing quest chapter. It's a small, friendly tree: six starter quests with no prerequisites, and three short branches of dishes that unlock after them. The quests have no titles in the pack files, so I'll point you to them by the item each one asks for.[3]
Starting quests
Six quests are open from the start: "To The Chopping Board" quest (the Cutting Board), "Cooking Pot" quest (the Cooking Pot), "Baking a Pie" quest (the Pie Crust), and one each for the crops Cabbage ("Cabbage Farm" quest), Onion ("Onion Farm" quest) and Tomato ("Tomato Farm" quest).[3]
Tier 1: Cutting Board, Cooking Pot and Pie Crust
These three quests are the roots of the dish branches below. Here is how each item is crafted in the pack.[3][5]

The pack also changes the Create route for pie dough. The Create mixing recipe for Pie Crust and the Create filling recipe for Chocolate Pie are marked as changed by the pack, so don't assume the mod's defaults for those.[5]

Tier 2: the quest branches
- Cutting Board branch: "Cooked Chicken Cuts" quest asks for Cooked Chicken Cuts, and "Chicken Sandwich" quest follows it with the Chicken Sandwich. Separately, "Beef Patty" quest asks for a Beef Patty, which leads to "Hamburger" quest, the Hamburger.[3]
- Cooking Pot branch: "Stuffed Pumpkin" quest asks for Stuffed Pumpkin, "Pasta with Meatballs" quest for Pasta with Meatballs, and "Apple Cider" quest for Apple Cider. All three unlock after the Cooking Pot quest.[3]
- Pie Crust branch: "Apple Pie" quest asks for Apple Pie, "Chocolate Pie" quest for Chocolate Pie, and "Sweet Berry Cheesecake" quest for Sweet Berry Cheesecake. All three unlock after the Pie Crust quest.[3]
Here are the in-pack recipes for some of the branch dishes.[5]

Automating the crops
The crop quests aren't locked behind anything, and the pack adds Cloche recipes for cabbage, onion and tomato. Each works on plain dirt, on Rich Soil, on four tiers of Just Dire Things soil (Primogel, Blazebloom, VoidShimmer and Shadowpulse), and on six tiers of Mystical Agriculture farmland: Inferium, Prudentium, Tertium, Imperium, Supremium and Insanium. Cabbage and tomato use their seeds, while the onion recipe takes an onion itself.[5]
You can also skip the planting for onions. The pack has a Farming for Blockheads market entry for Onion that has no item inputs, and onion and tomato crates can be crafted back into single items.[5]
How does Farmer's Delight work with other mods?
5 parts
Farmer's Delight doesn't live on its own in this pack. Its items show up in Create, Immersive Engineering, Mystical Agriculture and Ars Nouveau recipes, and the pack adds or changes a lot of them. Here's where the connections are.[5]
Create
The Create mixer can make Pie Crust, and the pack changed that recipe. Pie Crust is also the base of every pie, so this is a handy automation step.[5]
Mixing (create)
3× Wheat Flour
- 250× any milk
Recipe id: farmersdelight:integration/create/mixing/pie_crust_from_mixing
The pack also added a shapeless crafting recipe for Wheat Dough that uses Create's Wheat Flour.[5]
Create's saw also gives you Tree Bark. The pack adds cutting recipes that turn logs and wood into their stripped versions and also produce Tree Bark. These cover logs from Ars Nouveau, Ars Elemental, Chipped, Enchanted, Integrated Dynamics, Malum, Occultism, Roots and Silent Gear. Here is the Runewood one as an example.[5]
Cutting (create)
Recipe id: create:cutting/runtime_generated/compat/malum/runewood_log_to_stripped_runewood_log
Create Sifter
Sifting dirt with an Andesite Mesh or a String Mesh can give you Cabbage Seeds, Rice Crops and Tomato Seeds. The pack changed both recipes, so you can start your kitchen garden without hunting for seeds.[5]
Sifting (createsifter)

Immersive Engineering
The pack changed the Immersive Engineering squeezer recipes that involve Cabbage Seeds, Tomato Seeds and Plant Oil. The two recipes below show the exact in-pack versions.[5]
Squeezer (immersiveengineering)

Squeezer (immersiveengineering)
Recipe id: farmersdelight:integration/immersiveengineering/squeezer/tomato_seeds
The Immersive Engineering cloche is where Farmer's Delight really shows up. The pack adds cloche recipes that use Rich Soil as the soil for crops from other mods. These include Mystical Agriculture seeds that become essences, Roots' Aubergine Seeds, Enchanted's Belladonna Seeds, and Actually Additions' Canola Seeds and Coffee Beans. They also include the Ars Nouveau pods Bastion Fruit and Bombegranate.[5]
Cloche (immersiveengineering)
Recipe id: ftb:cloche/copper_essence_from_rich_soil
Going the other way, Cabbage can be grown in the cloche on other mods' soils. These are Just Dire Things' goo soils such as Primogel Soil, and Mystical Agriculture farmlands from Inferium Farmland up to Supremium Farmland. Insanium Farmland works too.[5]
Cloche (immersiveengineering)

Ars Nouveau and Ars Delight
The Ars Delight add-on brings Ars Nouveau into the kitchen. Its pies all use Pie Crust together with Ars fruit, for example Bastion Pie.[5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: arsdelight:bastion_pie
The other Ars Delight pies are Bombegranate Pie, Frostaya Pie and Mendosteen Pie, shown below, plus Flashpine Pie. The pack changed the Flashpine Pie recipe. The sources don't show what is different from the mod's default.[5]

Two more Ars Delight items cross over with Farmer's Delight. Honey Glazed Chimera uses a Farmer's Delight cooking recipe, and the Enchanter's Knife is an Ars Nouveau enchanting apparatus recipe that involves the Diamond Knife. Both recipes are shown below.[5]

Quests
The Cooking and Brewing quests I could see ask only for Farmer's Delight items. The Pie Crust quest "Baking a Pie" quest unlocks the Apple Pie, Chocolate Pie and Sweet Berry Cheesecake quests. So the cross-mod side of Farmer's Delight comes from the recipes above, not from quests.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Farmer's Delight?
4 parts
In this pack, Farmer's Delight shows up in one quest chapter: cooking_and_brewing. Every quest in it is an item task for a Farmer's Delight item, and the quests have no titles, so this section refers to them by quest ID. They form three small chains plus three standalone crop quests.[3]
Starter quests
Six quests have no prerequisite, so you can start any of them right away. Three of them are crops: "Cabbage Farm" quest asks for Cabbage, "Onion Farm" quest asks for Onion, and "Tomato Farm" quest asks for Tomato. Nothing in the chapter is unlocked by these three.[3]
The other three starters each open a chain: "Cooking Pot" quest asks for the Cooking Pot, "Baking a Pie" quest asks for the Pie Crust, and "To The Chopping Board" quest asks for the Cutting Board.[3]
Cooking Pot chain
Once "Cooking Pot" quest is done, three quests unlock side by side. "Stuffed Pumpkin" quest asks for the Stuffed Pumpkin, "Pasta with Meatballs" quest asks for Pasta with Meatballs, and "Apple Cider" quest asks for Apple Cider. They all depend only on the Cooking Pot quest, so you can take them in any order.[3]
Pie Crust chain
Finishing "Baking a Pie" quest unlocks three dessert quests, again side by side: "Apple Pie" quest for the Apple Pie, "Chocolate Pie" quest for the Chocolate Pie, and "Sweet Berry Cheesecake" quest for the Sweet Berry Cheesecake.[3]
Cutting Board chain
After "To The Chopping Board" quest, this chain splits into two short branches, each two quests long.[3]
- Chicken branch: "Cooked Chicken Cuts" quest asks for Cooked Chicken Cuts, which then unlocks "Chicken Sandwich" quest for the Chicken Sandwich.[3]
- Beef branch: "Beef Patty" quest asks for Beef Patty, which then unlocks "Hamburger" quest for the Hamburger.[3]
Which Farmer's Delight config options matter?
4 parts
The pack's config files show how each Farmer's Delight option is set. The config file only prints a mod default next to the pack value for farming.richSoilBoostChance and crafting.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus. For both, the pack keeps the default.[6]
Farming and crafting
- farming.richSoilBoostChance is 0.2, the same as the mod default. It is the chance that Rich Soil provides a bone meal boost to a crop planted on it. Setting it to 0.0 disables the boost.[6]
- crafting.cuttingBoardFortuneBonus is 0.1, also the mod default. It sets how much each level of Fortune increases the odds of rare results on the Cutting Board, and 0.0 disables it.[6]
- crafting.enableCookingPotRecipeBook is on. When enabled, the Cooking Pot provides a Recipe Book on its interface.[6]
- crafting.enableVanillaCropCrates is on. When enabled, the 3x3 storage crates for vanilla crops become craftable.[6]
- farming.enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes is on. When enabled, tomato crops can climb any rope tagged as farmersdelight:ropes. farming.defaultTomatoVineRope is set to Rope, the rope tomato vines leave behind when broken.[6]
- settings.enableRopeReeling is on. When enabled, players can reel back rope, bottom to top, by sneak-using with an empty hand on it.[6]
Food and soups
- overrides.stack_size.enableStackableSoupItems is on. When enabled, bowl foods in overrides.stack_size.soupItemList become stackable to 16. In this pack that list is Mushroom Stew, Beetroot Soup and Rabbit Stew.[6]
- overrides.enableVanillaSoupExtraEffects is on. When enabled, soups and stews from Minecraft grant Nourishment when eaten, like the mod's own meals.[6]
- overrides.enableRabbitStewBuff is on. When enabled, Rabbit Stew is given improved food stats to match its crafting cost.[6]
- overrides.enablePumpkinPieSneakToPlace is off, so Pumpkin Pie does not require sneaking to be placed as a block.[6]
- overrides.enableCuttingBoardDispenserBehavior is on. When enabled, a Dispenser can operate a Cutting Board in front of itself, using stored items as cutting tools.[6]
World generation and trades
- world.generateFDChestLoot is on. When enabled, new loot pools are added to chest loot across the game, containing items from the mod (ropes, crops, tools etc).[6]
- world.generateFDCropsOnVillageFarms and world.generateVillageCompostHeaps are both on. When enabled, Farmer's Delight crops will sometimes replace standard crops in village farm plots, and Compost Heaps will sometimes generate across villages.[6]
- settings.enableFarmerFDTrades and settings.enableWanderingTraderFDTrades are on. When enabled, Novice and Apprentice Farmer villagers have a chance to buy the mod's crops, and the Wandering Trader has a chance to sell its seeds and plantables.[6]
Client options
All the client options are on: enableComfortHealthOverlay, enableNourishmentHungerOverlay and enableFoodEffectTooltip. You get a scrolling overlay on the health meter with the Comfort effect, a gilded overlay on the food meter with the Nourishment effect, and tooltips showing which effects food grants when eaten, if any. The tooltips apply to foods from both Minecraft and the mod.[7]
What changed in Farmer's Delight between versions?
6 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Farmer's Delight 1.3.4 (the 1.21.1 build), and the mod was already in the pack by FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. I have no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, from 1.2.8 up to the version you are playing.[2][8]
1.3.4
- Fixed a broken behavior when pushing Feasts with Pistons.[9]
- Fixed the config option generateFDChestLoot not properly disabling the mod's extra chest loot (1.21.1 and later, so it applies here).[9]
1.3.2
- Fried Rice and Chicken Soup were nerfed down to the 3-minute tier of meals, due to their ease of cooking.[10]
- Rice Bag was removed from the straw_blocks tag, since it isn't made with Straw, and was added directly to mineable/knife instead.[10]
- New fuel values: Straw Bale smelts 5 items, and Rope Fence and Rope Fence Gate smelt 1 item each. On 1.21 these now live in a NeoForge datamap, furnace_fuels.json.[10]
- Fixed Rope Fences not holding leashed animals in some circumstances, Pumpkins having inverted slicing logic with Silk Touch, and a Cutting Board crash when Fortune is disabled through datapacks.[10]
- Also fixed an occasional crash caused by a tag reference load order.[10]
1.3.1 and 1.2.11a
- 1.3.1 re-introduced deprecated code references (tag references, configuration, and the old BASKET fields, which now point to BAMBOO_BASKET) to stop crashes with add-ons that depended on them.[11]
- 1.2.11a fixed block entities not clearing properly on contraption mods.[12]
1.2.10
- Villagers can now eat FD crops to become willing to breed.[13]
- New mod tags farmersdelight:snacks and farmersdelight:sweets. FD foods were properly tagged under c:foods, and all FD recipes now use c:drinks/milk, with c:foods/milk kept only for backwards compatibility.[13]
- Fixed the foodEffectTooltip config not affecting vanilla foods with FD effect overrides, the Cutting Board playing sounds at the wrong corner, and non-contained meals like Dumplings being deleted when served against the pot.[13]
- Fixed the Chocolate Pie spouting recipe in the Create integration to use the correct fluid tag.[13]
1.2.9
- Rich Soil Farmland can now be hydrated by any fluid type capable of hydration.[14]
- Wild Cabbage and Sea Beet can now generate on any biome tagged minecraft:is_beach.[14]
- Fixed the Cooking Pot allowing players to cook and store up to 99 servings, Rabbit Stew not returning bowls, and Create milling recipes never finishing.[14]
- As a temporary fix, the Cooking Pot can no longer be opened in spectator mode, since it crashed.[14]
1.2.8
- New item tags: meals, drinks and feasts.[8]
- Wheat Dough got a simpler, less cumbersome crafting recipe built around a Water Bucket, which acts as a simple technology gate. The egg recipe is still there so auto-crafting setups don't break.[8]
- Knives were added to the breaks_decorated_pots tag.[8]
- The Cooking Pot now always cools down when a recipe becomes invalid mid-cooking, instead of losing all progress in some cases.[8]
- Fixed Rich Soil negating fall damage, Knives with Silk Touch slicing Pumpkin blocks, and the Jack-O-Lantern not being mineable with a Knife.[8]

Show settings
| Setting | FTB Skies 2 value | Mod default |
|---|---|---|
enableComfortHealthOverlay If enabled, a scrolling overlay will be shown over the health meter when the player has the Comfort effect. config/farmersdelight-client.toml | true | not documented |
enableFoodEffectTooltip If enabled, food items will display tooltips showing which effects they grant when eaten, if any. Applies to foods from both Minecraft and this mod. config/farmersdelight-client.toml | true | not documented |
enableNourishmentHungerOverlay If enabled, a gilded overlay will be shown over the food meter when the player has the Nourishment effect. config/farmersdelight-client.toml | true | not documented |
crafting.enableCookingPotRecipeBook If enabled, the Cooking Pot will provide a Recipe Book on its interface, similar to the one on Crafting Tables and Furnaces. config/farmersdelight-common.toml | true | not documented |
crafting.enableVanillaCropCrates If enabled, storage crates (3x3) for vanilla crops (similar to Quark and Thermal Cultivation) will become craftable. config/farmersdelight-common.toml | true | not documented |
debug.enableTomatoRopePermanence Tomato crops hanging on rope will force-place a Rope block when broken. Due to technical limitations, this affects things such as commands, making them fail to 'setblock' at first. Disable this if this block is preventing you from editing a region in creative or with commands. For normal gameplay, I recommend leaving this enabled. config/farmersdelight-common.toml | true | not documented |
