ForgeBase is a fan project run by one person. You can read every page without an account and without giving us anything. This page says what is stored, where, and for how long.

  • Reading, searching and comparing need no account and set no cookies.
  • There is no advertising and there are no advertising trackers on this site.
  • If you sign in with Discord to comment, vote or report, we store a small account record and what you write.
  • Search words are saved without your address or any account, so we can find the questions the site cannot answer yet.

Your light or dark choice, the pages you looked at recently, and how far you have got along a pack's path are kept in your browser's own storage on your device. They are never sent to us. Clearing your site data removes them.

Signing in is optional and uses Discord. We ask Discord for your public profile only (the identify permission), never your email address, friends or servers. We store:

  • your Discord user id, display name and avatar;
  • a placeholder email address we make up, because the account system needs one;
  • the sign-in tokens Discord hands us, kept with the account and never shown;
  • a session record that lasts up to 30 days and can include the address and browser details your device sent when you signed in;
  • one cookie, which says you are signed in. It is set only when you sign in, and removed when you sign out or it expires.

A comment, a vote or a report is stored with your account. Your display name is shown beside a comment that is published. New comments are checked automatically for spam and abuse and may wait for a moderator before they appear. Moderators can see who wrote, voted on or reported a comment. Do not post anything you would not want public.

On a guide, "Was this helpful?" and "Report wrong info" need no account. We store your answer, or your report with its category and the words you typed, against that guide and its version, and the time. We do not store your address or any account with it, and counts are shown only to moderators. Please do not put personal details in the box. Reports are read by a person and never change a guide by themselves.

We keep the words searched for, the filters used, how many results there were, which result was clicked and how long the search took, with the time. We do not store your address or any account with it. We read this list to find what people ask and the site cannot answer. It is not deleted automatically, so please do not type personal information into the search box.

To stop one visitor overloading search and sign-in, the server counts recent requests per network address. That count is held in the server's memory only. It is not written to our database and is gone when the server restarts. Behind Cloudflare the address is taken from the header Cloudflare adds. Cloudflare and our hosting also handle your connection and keep their own logs under their own policies, which we do not control.

This site counts page views with an analytics service we run ourselves at umami:3000. It is not an advertising network, and the figures are not sold or shared.

Some pages show pictures hosted elsewhere, and your browser fetches them directly, so those hosts can see your address and the page you were on:

  • Modrinth's and CurseForge's image servers, for mod icons and screenshots;
  • YouTube, for video thumbnails and for videos you choose to play, which load from its privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com);
  • Discord's image server, for avatars, when you are signed in.

The fonts are served from this site, not from Google.

You can ask us to delete your account, your comments and your votes, or to tell you what we hold about you. When you write, say which Discord account is yours so we can find the right record.

You do not need an account to use ForgeBase. Signing in needs a Discord account, and Discord's own age rules apply to that.

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.
