What is EvilCraft?

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta guide

This pack ships EvilCraft at version 1.2.107, built for NeoForge (the jar is evilcraft-26.1.2-neoforge-1.2.107.jar). So everything in this guide describes that version, not other releases you may have seen in videos or elsewhere.[1]

The mod has been in the pack for a while: it was first included in version 0.0.6 or earlier.[1]

How do you get started with EvilCraft?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.64 guide

EvilCraft starts underground. Mining Dark Gems is what kicks off the mod's "first evil age", so grab a pickaxe and head down before you worry about any of the fancier machines. Almost every early recipe in the mod runs through that one gem.[2]

Dark Gems pack into Dark Blocks and back again, which is the easiest way to keep a big stash tidy while you mine.[3]

And back to gems again.

Get the mod's own book

Before you build anything else, make a Darkened Apple. Feeding one to an animal creates an anomaly, and throwing a book into that anomaly gets you a copy of the Origins of Darkness, EvilCraft's in-game guide.[2][3]

Your first components

Two small parts show up again and again later: Spikes, which are sharp and durable and which mobs really don't enjoy, and Dark Sticks. Make a few of each early so you're not stopping mid-build to backfill them.[2][3]

Into the second age

Crafting a Blood Extractor is the milestone that initiates the second evil age, so treat it as your main early goal once you have gems and Spikes to spare.[2][3]

You'll want somewhere to put fluids too, and the Dark Tank is the answer. It holds about sixteen buckets, and if that's too small you can place several of them together in a crafting table to combine them into a bigger tank without losing any fluid.[2][3]

Tip: A placed Dark Tank can be right-clicked to give it a purple glow, which opens a hole in its base that automatically fills tanks, item containers and players carrying containers underneath it. Shift plus right-click while holding the tank and not aiming at a block turns on a mode that fills whatever container you're currently holding.[2]

Where to go next

Once the blood side of the mod is running, the Blood Infusion Core is the gateway part. It turns into the Blood Infuser, the machine you'll use for most later upgrades, and into the Blood Chest.[3]

The pack's quest book also asks you for a Vein Sword in the basic tools chapter, and it's a natural use for your first Spike and Dark Stick.[3][4]

One more quality-of-life pick: Dark Gems can be turned straight into an Eternal Water Bucket, and the Eternal Water Block it places is an infinite source of water.[2][3]

Watch out: Don't bother chasing Dull Dust yet. The mod itself describes it as a weird dust that doesn't seem to be very useful at the moment.[2]

How does EvilCraft work?

6 parts

EvilCraft runs on blood. Almost every machine, tool and upgrade in the mod either produces blood, stores it, or burns it to do something nasty, and the mod frames that progression as a series of "ages": mining Dark Gems opens the first age, and crafting a Blood Extractor marks the start of the second.[2]

Getting blood out of mobs

When an entity falls to its death it leaves behind a Blood Stain block, which is the raw material the mod's early blood farming is built on. The Blood Extractor is your first way to collect it by hand.[2]

For automation you move to the Sanguinary Pedestal, which drains blood from blood stains in the area around it. There is a second, upgraded tier that drains more blood from the same area, so an existing setup can be improved in place rather than rebuilt.[2]

To feed a pedestal you need mobs dying on top of it, and that is what the Spiked Plate is for. It damages any mob walking over it while leaving you and other players unharmed, and the Dark Gem inside it makes mobs killed this way drop the same things they would if a player had killed them. Place the plate on a pedestal and the blood goes straight into your system. The plates also emit a redstone signal while a mob is taking damage, which gives you a free trigger for timers, counters or spawner control.[2]

Tip: Blood that dries into Hardened Blood is not lost. It liquidifies again when it rains on it or when you break the block.[2]

Fluid handling with Dark Tanks

The Dark Tank is EvilCraft's universal fluid container, and it works both as a placed block and as an item in your inventory. A single tank holds about sixteen buckets, and if that is not enough you place several tanks together in a crafting grid to combine them into a larger tank, with no fluid lost in the process.[2]

  • Right-click a placed tank to give it a purple glow and open a hole in its bottom, which automatically fills tanks, item containers and players carrying containers underneath it.[2]
  • Shift + right-click while holding a tank and not aiming at a block enables auto-supply mode, which tops up whatever container you are currently holding if it accepts that fluid.[2]
  • The Entangled Chalice shares its contents across every chalice at once, so any chalice acts as a remote access point to the same fluid; shift + right-click enables its omni-supply mode.[2]

Blood Infusion Cores and the machines that use them

The Blood Infusion Core is the shared heart of the mod's mid-game blocks. You build it once and then use it as the centrepiece of both the Blood Infuser and the Blood Chest.[5]

If a single Blood Chest is not enough throughput for you, the mod also has a Colossal Blood Chest, described as an industry-sized version of the same block.[2]

Unverified The exact recipe types the Blood Infuser accepts, and the blood cost and speed of each operation, are not covered by the sources used for this page. Check JEI in-game for the current in-pack values. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Spirit machines

Vengeance Spirits are the mod's other resource stream. You capture one by using a Vengeance Focus on it while holding a Box of Eternal Closure, and from there two multiblock-style machines take over.[2]

  • The Spirit Furnace cooks captured Vengeance Spirits to obtain the drops of the mob the spirit came from. It halts when there is no more space for drops, so keep its output side pulled away by pipes or a chest.[2]
  • The Spirit Reanimator revives Vengeance Spirits instead of cooking them. It needs a valid, non-empty box and a matching mob spawn egg, and it will refuse to run if you mix different mob eggs into it.[2]
Tip: If spirits are getting in the way of your base, a Gem Stone Torch blocks Vengeance Spirit spawning within a radius of 15 blocks.[2]

Environmental Accumulators and biome swapping

The Environmental Accumulator is not craftable and is found at Dark Temples out in the world. One of its abilities is filling Biome Extract bottles with the biome the machine is standing in; throw a filled bottle on the ground anywhere and it transforms that area into that biome. The catch is that the accumulator degrades its own biome over time, so bottles from a long-running machine become close to useless.[2]

The Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator is the craftable alternative. It is a structure rather than a single block: when it is built wrong, its help text lists the positions where tanks holding blood are still required, so follow those coordinates to finish the build.[2]

This pack also gives you a straight crafting recipe for Biome Extract, which sidesteps the accumulator's biome degradation entirely.[2][5]

Item handling and automation helpers

The Display Stand supports any wood type and can be placed at any rotation, and it is genuinely automatable: you pipe items in and out through the bottom or the top faces. Interaction from every other side is delegated to the item sitting on the stand, so you can access that item's own inventory, fluids or energy through the block.[2]

The Exalted Crafter is the mod's portable crafting solution. Attach a chest to it for an internal inventory (even an Ender Chest works) and you can craft from inside your inventory anywhere. It can be bound to a hotkey: pressing that key with the GUI open clears the grid back into your inventory, and holding shift while pressing it balances the items currently in the grid. A toggle button lets you choose whether shift-removing items from the grid sends them to the crafter's internal inventory or your player inventory. Striking the crafter with lightning binds it to reality so it can no longer be destroyed or despawn when dropped.[2]

Watch out: EvilCraft adds curse-style enchantments as well as useful ones. Breaking makes your tools break faster, Unusing makes a tool unusable once it has one durability left, and Vengeance spawns Vengeance Spirits whenever you use the tool. Check what you are enchanting before you commit a good tool to it.[2]

How do you progress through EvilCraft?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.0 guide

EvilCraft in this pack runs on one currency: dark gems. Almost every tier of the mod branches off them, and the pack's quests follow that same shape. The first EvilCraft quest simply asks you to hold a Dark Gem, and four more quests unlock from it, so getting your first gems is the real gate on everything below.[6]

Tier 1: dark gems

Hand Dark Gem in for the opening quest and the rest of the EvilCraft chain opens up. Gems compress into Dark Block and back, so storage is easy once you have a steady supply.[6][7]

This pack also gives you a bee route: centrifuging the EvilCraft honeycomb from Productive Bees yields Dark Gem and Crushed Dark Gem alongside wax, which is a nice passive trickle once your automation is running.[7]

Centrifuge (productivebees)

    Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/evilcraft/honeycomb_dark_gem

    Tier 2: basic dark gear

With gems in hand you build the workhorse parts: Dark Stick, Spike and Blood Extractor, the tool that gets blood flowing. The Dark Tank is your storage for that blood, and it is one of the four quests that unlocks straight off the dark gem quest.[6][7]

The other early quest on this branch wants a Lightning Bomb. Its little sibling, the Lightning Grenade, is cheap enough to make in bulk.[6][7]

Tier 3: dark power gems and the Blood Infuser

Dark Power Gem is the step up from a plain gem, and it is the key to the mod's mid game. Combined with a Hardened Blood Shard it makes the Blood Infusion Core, the component that shows up in nearly every serious EvilCraft machine and trinket.[7]

The Blood Infuser is the mod's main crafting machine.

Dark power gems also unlock your first real weapon tier. The Vein Sword is its own quest over in the basic tools chapter, so you can pick it up independently of the main EvilCraft chain.[7][8]

    Tier 4: infusion-core gear

Once cores are repeatable, spend them on quality-of-life kit: Blood Chest and Colossal Blood Chest for repairing gear, Invigorating Pendant for a wearable buff, and Kineticator or Repelling Kineticator for item pickup. The kineticators also want a filled Blood Orb, so keep your blood production going.[7]

Tier 5: End-tier and empowered gear

The last two quests on the chain are the expensive ones. The Piercing Vengeance Focus pulls in End materials on top of a filled blood orb and a Vengeance Focus, so plan it for after your first End trip.[6][7]

The Mace of Destruction closes out the chain and needs Garmonbozia and Empowered Inverted Potentia. The same two exotic ingredients feed the Mace of Distortion and the Necromancer Staff, so batch them together.[6][7]

The plain Inverted Potentia is the base for the empowered version.

Tip: Four quests branch off the dark gem quest at once, so there is no forced order after that first step. If you just want the weapon, the Vein Sword sits in a separate chapter and only needs tier 3 materials.[6][7][8]

Unverified The sources here do not cover how you first obtain Dark Gems from the world, or how Dark Power Gems, Hardened Blood Shards, Garmonbozia and Empowered Inverted Potentia are produced in this pack. How does EvilCraft work with other mods?

    3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.53 guide

EvilCraft shows up in a handful of recipes that belong to other mods in this pack. Some were added by the pack itself, and others come from Productive Bees' own EvilCraft support. The recipe dump I have lists no quests that involve EvilCraft, so everything below comes from recipes.[9]

    Pack-added recipes

The pack adds a recipe for the Oblivion Shard that needs an EvilCraft item as one of its ingredients. It's a shaped crafting recipe, so you make it at a normal crafting table.[9]
