What is EvilCraft?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

EvilCraft is in All the Mods 10 4.5 as version 1.2.74, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it has been in for a long time.[1]

The pack gives EvilCraft its own quest chapter. The chapter starts with a single task: get a Dark Gem in a quest in "?". From there it splits into two branches. One starts with the Blood Extractor and the other with the Weather Container. The Weather Container quest also includes a structure task.[2]

How the quest chapter unfolds

  1. The Weather Container branch leads to the Necromancer Staff, the Mace of Distortion, the Lightning Bomb and Lightning Grenade, and Eternal Water Block.[2]
  2. The Blood Extractor branch opens up the Dark Power Gem, the Hardened Blood Shard, the Dark Tank, the Vengeance Ring, the Spikey Claws, and the Sanguinary Pedestal with the Spiked Plate.[2]
  3. The Dark Power Gem and Hardened Blood Shard quests both lead into the Blood Infusion Core in a quest in "?". That quest unlocks the Blood Infuser, the Blood Chest and the Invigorating Pendant.[2]
  4. The Blood Infuser leads to the Promise system, starting with the Iron Promise Acceptor and Promise of Tenacity I. It also leads to the Undead Sapling, which opens up the Broom, the Vein Sword and the Vengeance Pickaxe.[2]
  5. Late in the chapter you build the Spirit Furnace, and its quest also asks for 33 Dark Blood Brick. After that come the Spirit Reanimator, Garmonbozia, the Entangled Chalice and the Mace of Destruction.[2]

EvilCraft also appears in other quest chapters. The Forbidden Arcanus chapter asks for a Spiked Plate and a Powered Sanguinary Pedestal, and after that a Blood Bucket.[3]

The "chapter_2_the_star" quest chapter also opens with a Dark Gem. It then asks for a Lightning Bomb, a Dark Tank, a Piercing Vengeance Focus and a Mace of Destruction.[4]

Tip: Both the EvilCraft chapter and the "chapter_2_the_star" chapter start with a Dark Gem, and the Mace of Destruction shows up in both. If you work through the EvilCraft chapter, you'll also be making progress on those other quests.[2][4]

Unverified It is unconfirmed whether the "chapter_2_the_star" quests count toward the ATM Star. It is also unconfirmed how EvilCraft's blood and machine mechanics work in detail, because the available sources only list quest tasks.

How do you get started with EvilCraft?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

EvilCraft has its own chapter in the All the Mods 10 quest book, and it all starts from one item: the Dark Gem. The chapter then splits into two paths. One follows the Blood Extractor, which is where most of the progression goes. The other follows the Weather Container. Follow the steps below in order and you'll hit the quests that unlock the rest of the tree.[2]

Step 1: Get Dark Gems

Your first goal is a Dark Gem, which completes a quest in "?". The mod's own advancement tells you to mine Dark Gems to discover the first evil age, so keep an eye out for them while you're underground. If you find or make a Dark Block, you can turn it back into gems.[2][5][6]

Step 2: Craft a Blood Extractor

The Blood Extractor is your big milestone. The mod calls crafting it the start of the second evil age, and its quest a quest in "?" unlocks most of the chapter. That includes Spikey Claws, the Hardened Blood Shard, the Vengeance Ring, the Dark Power Gem, the Dark Tank and the Sanguinary Pedestal. The recipe uses a Spike. The mod's notes describe making Spikes from a Dark Gem and a piece of iron.[2][5][6]

Step 3: Build a Dark Tank

Next, grab a Dark Tank so you have somewhere to put fluids. The mod describes it as holding about sixteen buckets. You can combine several tanks in a crafting grid to raise the capacity without losing any fluid. If you place it and right-click it, it will fill containers underneath it. If you Shift + right-click while holding it in the air, it will try to fill the container you're holding.[2][6]

Step 4: Start collecting blood

The quest a quest in "?" asks for a Sanguinary Pedestal and a Spiked Plate. The pedestal drains blood from blood stains in the area. Blood stains appear when an entity falls to its death. The Spiked Plate damages mobs, and if you place it on the pedestal it drains their blood.[2][6]

Step 5: The Blood Infusion Core

Once you've done the Dark Power Gem quest a quest in "?" and the Hardened Blood Shard quest a quest in "?", you unlock a quest in "?" for the Blood Infusion Core. This core is the gateway to the Blood Infuser, the Blood Chest and the Invigorating Pendant.[2][5]

Side path: the Weather Container

The quest a quest in "?" asks you to find a structure and get a Weather Container. It unlocks the Necromancer Staff, the Mace of Distortion, the Lightning Grenade and Lightning Bomb, and Eternal Water. The Eternal Water Block block is an infinite source of water, so it's a handy early grab.[2][6]

Tip: EvilCraft matters beyond its own chapter. The pack's Star quest chapter asks for a Dark Gem, a Dark Tank, a Lightning Bomb, a Piercing Vengeance Focus and a Mace of Destruction, so the early steps above also move you toward that goal.[4]

Unverified The sources don't confirm where Dark Gems generate, which structure the Weather Container quest wants, or how you first obtain Dark Power Gems and Hardened Blood Shards beyond the unpacking recipes shown. Check JEI in-game for those. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does EvilCraft work?

7 parts

Almost everything in EvilCraft runs on Blood, a fluid measured in mB. You collect it from dying mobs, store and move it with tanks, and spend it to power your tools and gear. Once you understand where Blood comes from and how it flows, the rest of the mod clicks into place.[7][8]

Getting Blood

The simplest source is the Blood Stain, a splash of Blood that appears when an entity falls to its death. In this pack, block.blood_stain.bloodMBPerHP is set to 20, so the stain gets 20 mB of Blood for every HP of the mob's max health (2 HP is 1 heart). Bigger mobs mean bigger stains, which makes fall-damage mob farms a natural first Blood setup.[7][8]

Watch out: Blood Stains won't spawn on everything. In this pack, block.blood_stain.spawnBlacklist blocks any tconstruct block from getting stains. block.blood_stain.spawnOnBlockEntities is false, so stains also won't form on block entities. Give your kill floor plain blocks to land on.[8]

Hardened Blood is dried Blood. It turns back into liquid when it rains on it or when you break it, so you don't lose Blood that has set.[7]

To automate collection, use a Sanguinary Pedestal. It drains Blood from Blood Stains in the area around it, and the upgraded version drains even more. If you put a Spiked Plate on top of a Pedestal, the plate damages mobs that walk over it and feeds the Blood straight into the Pedestal.[7]

The Spiked Plate is built from Spike, and it's a great mob grinder. It only hurts mobs, not you or other players. Thanks to the Dark Gem, mobs it kills drop the same loot as mobs killed by a player. It also gives off a redstone signal whenever a mob takes damage. In this pack, block.spiked_plate.damage is 4 and block.spiked_plate.mobMultiplier is 40 mB of Blood per mob HP.[7][8]

Undead Trees give you a passive Blood trickle. An Undead Sapling grows an Undead Tree, and its leaves can create Blood Stains. In this pack, block.undead_leaves.maxBloodStainAmount caps this at 25 mB per random tick.[7][8]

Crafting a Blood Extractor kicks off the mod's second evil age. In this pack it holds 5,000 mB of Blood. The Blood you get per mob HP ranges from a minimum multiplier of 5 to a maximum of 40. item.blood_extractor.autoFillBuckets is false, so it won't auto-fill buckets you're holding.[7][8]

Unverified The exact way you use the Blood Extractor to collect Blood (which targets it takes Blood from, and how) is not described in the available sources.

Storing and moving fluids

Fluid transfer has a global speed limit. In this pack, general.general.mbFlowRate is 100, so machines and items can push out up to 100 mB per tick.[8]

The Dark Tank is your main fluid container. You can place it in the world or carry it in your inventory, and it holds about sixteen buckets. Need more space? Put several tanks together in a crafting grid to combine them into a bigger one. No fluid is lost when you do.[7]

  • Placed tank: right-click it and it glows purple. It then drains through its bottom, automatically filling tanks, item containers and players holding containers underneath it.[7]
  • Held tank: Shift + right-click while holding it and not aiming at any block. This turns on a mode that fills any container you're holding, as long as it accepts that fluid.[7]
  • In this pack, item.dark_tank.autoFillBuckets is false, so held buckets are not auto-filled even with that mode on.[8]

The Entangled Chalice shares its fluid everywhere: every linked chalice sees the same contents. Shift + right-click it to switch on omni-supply. For water, the Eternal Water block is an infinite source.[7]

The Display Stand is handy for automation. You can pipe items in and out through its top or bottom. Every other side passes interaction on to the item on display, so you can reach that item's inventory, fluids or energy.[7]

Blood Infusion Core machines

The Blood Infusion Core goes into both the Blood Infuser and the Blood Chest, so make one early. There's also a Colossal Blood Chest, an industry-sized version of the Blood Chest.[7][9]

Environmental Accumulators and Biome Extracts

You can't craft the Environmental Accumulator: you find it at Dark Temples. It can fill Biome Extract bottles with the biome it's placed in. Throw a filled bottle on the ground and the area turns into that biome. The catch is that the Accumulator slowly degrades its own biome, so the bottles it makes get worse and worse.[7]

The Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator is the craftable version. It needs tanks filled with Blood at specific spots around it. If one is missing, the machine tells you where they're required. In this pack, both Biome Extract blacklists are empty: item.biome_extract.craftingBlacklist and item.biome_extract.usageBlacklist. That means no biome is blocked from being made or used.[7][8]

Vengeance Spirits

To capture a Vengeance Spirit, use a Vengeance Focus to trap it in a Box of Eternal Closure. The Spirit Furnace cooks Vengeance Spirits to get their drops, and it stops when there's no room left for drops, so give it an output. The Spirit Reanimator revives them. It needs a valid box holding a spirit whose mob has a spawn egg, and it won't run if you've added a different mob's eggs.[7]

Tip: Don't want spirits spawning around your base? A Gem Stone Torch blocks Vengeance Spirit spawning within a radius of 15 blocks, and block.gem_stone_torch.area is 15 in this pack.[7][8]

Spending Blood

  • Broom: uses 1 mB of Blood per tick, plus 1 mB per block it breaks, in this pack.[8]
  • Invigorating Pendant: holds 5,000 mB. It uses 100 mB each time it clears one bad effect, cuts 30 seconds off the first bad effect it finds, and uses 500 mB each time it reduces or clears fire.[8]
  • Kineticator and Repelling Kineticator: they check the area every tick and use Blood every 20 ticks while there are valid items nearby. Both also move XP orbs in this pack.[8]
  • Necromancer Staff: holds 10,000 mB.[8]
  • Rejuvenated Flesh: holds 10,000 mB and uses 250 mB per bite.[8]

You can keep an eye on your Blood with the on-screen Blood overlay, which is on in this pack. It sits in the bottom-right corner (position 1, SE) with an offset of -5 on both axes. You can move it with general.general.bloodGuiOverlayPosition.[8]

Exalted Crafter

The Exalted Crafter lets you craft right from your inventory. Attach a chest to give it an internal inventory; even an Ender Chest works. You can bind it to a hotkey. Pressing the hotkey with the GUI open clears the grid, and Shift + hotkey balances the items in the grid. A toggle button chooses whether shift-removed items go to the crafter's inventory or yours. If lightning strikes it, it can no longer be destroyed or vanish when dropped. In this pack, shift-clicking doesn't send items into the crafting grid first.[7][8]

How do you progress through EvilCraft?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

The EvilCraft quest chapter in this pack is a big branching tree. Everything starts with a single item, Dark Gem, in a quest in "?". From there the chapter splits into two lines: a weather and combat branch that opens with Weather Container, and a blood branch that opens with Blood Extractor. The blood branch is where the real progression happens.[2]

Unverified The sources don't say how you get your first Dark Gems, or what the structure task in the Weather Container quest asks for. Check the quest book in-game for those details.

Weather and combat branch

a quest in "?" has a structure task and also asks for a Weather Container. Completing it unlocks several side quests.[2]

The Blood Infusion Core gate

a quest in "?" asks for a Blood Infusion Core. It only unlocks once you've finished both the Dark Power Gem quest and the Hardened Blood Shard quest. Plan on making lots of these cores: in this pack they go into the Blood Chest, Blood Infuser, Colossal Blood Chest, Purifier, both Kineticators, both pendants, the Spirit Furnace, the Spirit Reanimator and the Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator.[2][5]

The core quest unlocks three follow-ups: the Invigorating Pendant in a quest in "?", the Blood Chest in a quest in "?", and the Blood Infuser in a quest in "?". The Blood Chest line continues to a quest in "?", which asks for a Colossal Blood Chest and Reinforced Undead Planks.[2]

The Blood Infuser quest opens two paths. The first is the Undead Sapling in a quest in "?", which leads to the Vengeance Pickaxe, the Vein Sword, and the Broom quest a quest in "?" (three Broom Part tasks plus the broom itself). The second is the promise tiers.[2]

Promise tiers

Each Promise of Tenacity quest pairs the promise with a matching acceptor, so you step up from iron to gold to diamond.[2]

  1. a quest in "?" asks for an Iron Promise Acceptor and a Promise of Tenacity I. It is the hub for the mid game.[2]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for a Gold Promise Acceptor and a Promise of Tenacity II.[2]
  3. a quest in "?" asks for a Diamond Promise Acceptor and a Promise of Tenacity III.[2]

Endgame

Finishing the third Tenacity quest unlocks the Entangled Chalice quest and the Garmonbozia quest. Garmonbozia is the final gate: it leads to the Mace of Destruction, the Primed Pendant, the Sanguinary Environmental Acc., Werewolf Flesh and Humanoid Flesh. The two flesh quests together unlock a quest in "?", the last quest in the chapter, which asks for Rejuvenated Flesh.[2]

Tip: Get your Blood Infusion Core production going early. It unlocks the Blood Infuser, and nearly every mid- and late-game quest in this chapter builds on it.[2][5]

How does EvilCraft work with other mods?

6 parts

EvilCraft isn't a side mod you can skip in this pack. Its items show up in endgame crafting, in the ATM Star questline, in automation machines and even in bee breeding. Here's where it connects to everything else.[9][12]

The road to the ATM Star

The Star questline has its own set of EvilCraft quests. It starts with a quest in "?", which asks for a Dark Gem. That unlocks quests for a Lightning Bomb (a quest in "?"), a Dark Tank (a quest in "?"), a Piercing Vengeance Focus (a quest in "?") and a Mace of Destruction (a quest in "?").[12]

The pack adds its own Oblivion Shard recipe that uses EvilCraft materials. It sits alongside items from Forbidden & Arcanus, Steve's Carts and Twilight Forest boss trophies.[9]

Pack-added recipe

The pack's Pulsating Black Hole recipe also needs an EvilCraft Lightning Bomb, together with parts from a whole range of other tech and magic mods.[9]

Pack-added recipe

Creative Blood Drop

Once you've made an ATM Star, you can put it to work here. The pack adds a recipe for the Creative Blood Drop that uses the Star together with EvilCraft items. The ATM Star chapter has a quest for it, a quest in "?".[9][13]

Tip: This recipe needs a Promise of Tenacity III. You get it through the EvilCraft chapter's Promise line, which ends in a quest in "?" together with the Diamond Promise Acceptor.[9][14]

Automated Hephaestus Forge

The pack adds a series of Modular Machinery Reborn machine recipes for an automated Hephaestus Forge. Every one of them uses EvilCraft Blood. If you plan to automate Forbidden & Arcanus rituals, set up a steady Blood supply first.[9]

Processing Undead Logs

You don't have to cut Undead Logs by hand. The pack adds a Mekanism sawing recipe that turns them into Undead Planks and gives you Sawdust on the side. It also adds a Productive Trees sawmill recipe for the same planks.[9]

The Vein Sword also appears outside EvilCraft's own chapter, in the Basic Tools chapter as a quest in "?".[15]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use EvilCraft?

    5 parts

EvilCraft has its own quest chapter in this pack, and a few of its items also show up in other chapters. The mod's chapter starts with one quest and then branches out, so you can work on several paths at once. The quests are untitled, so use the quest links below to see where each step sits.[12][13][14][15]

    The EvilCraft chapter: getting started

Everything starts with a quest in "?", which asks for a Dark Gem. From there the chapter splits into two branches. a quest in "?" needs a structure task plus a Weather Container, and a quest in "?" asks for a Blood Extractor.[14]

The Weather Container branch is short. It leads to the Necromancer Staff in a quest in "?", the Mace of Distortion in a quest in "?", the Lightning Bomb and Lightning Grenade in a quest in "?", and the Eternal Water Block with an Eternal Water Bucket in a quest in "?".[14]

    The blood branch

The Blood Extractor quest opens up a lot of the chapter. Here's what it unlocks directly:[14]

The big hub is a quest in "?", which asks for the Blood Infusion Core. It needs both the Dark Power Gem and Hardened Blood Shard quests. It opens the Invigorating Pendant in a quest in "?", the Blood Chest in a quest in "?" and the Blood Infuser in a quest in "?". The Blood Chest then leads to a Colossal Blood Chest and Reinforced Undead Planks in a quest in "?".[14]

    Undead gear and Promises

The Blood Infuser opens two paths. The first is the Undead Sapling in a quest in "?". That leads to the Vengeance Pickaxe in a quest in "?", the Vein Sword in a quest in "?", and a quest in "?", where you hand in Broom Part tasks plus a Broom.[14]

The second path is a quest in "?", which asks for an Iron Promise Acceptor and Promise of Tenacity I. From there you get Promise of Productivity in a quest in "?" and Promise of Velocity in a quest in "?". Together those two unlock the Effortless Ring in a quest in "?". The same quest also opens the Purifier and Blook in a quest in "?", the Sceptre of Thunder in a quest in "?", and the Kineticator and Repelling Kineticator in a quest in "?".[14]

The Promise tiers continue with the Gold Promise Acceptor and Promise of Tenacity II in a quest in "?". After that come the Diamond Promise Acceptor and Promise of Tenacity III in a quest in "?".[14]

    Endgame of the chapter

The gold tier and the Vengeance Focus quest together unlock a quest in "?". That quest asks for a Spirit Furnace and 33 Dark Blood Brick, so start stockpiling bricks early. After that comes the Spirit Reanimator in a quest in "?".[14]

The diamond tier unlocks the Entangled Chalice in a quest in "?" and Garmonbozia in a quest in "?". Garmonbozia opens the last batch of quests. These ask for the Mace of Destruction in a quest in "?", the Primed Pendant in a quest in "?", the Sanguinary Environmental Acc. in a quest in "?", Werewolf Flesh in a quest in "?" and Humanoid Flesh in a quest in "?". Finish both flesh quests to unlock the final Rejuvenated Flesh quest, a quest in "?".[14]

    EvilCraft in other chapters

Another chapter has a small EvilCraft cluster. It starts with a Dark Gem in a quest in "?". It then asks for a Lightning Bomb in a quest in "?", a Dark Tank in a quest in "?", a Piercing Vengeance Focus in a quest in "?" and a Mace of Destruction in a quest in "?".[12]

The basic tools chapter asks for a Vein Sword in a quest in "?". A separate chapter asks for a Creative Blood Drop in a quest in "?". Both of these quests unlock after earlier quests in their own chapters, not after the EvilCraft chapter.[13][15]

    Which EvilCraft config options matter?

    5 parts

EvilCraft keeps its settings in one common config file. Most of them tune how much Blood things hold, use or produce, and those numbers shape how grindy the mod feels. Below are the options you're most likely to notice in play, with the exact values this pack ships.[8]

Unverified The sources only show the values this pack uses, not the mod's defaults. It's unconfirmed which of these values the pack changed and which are EvilCraft's own defaults.

    Blood flow and your HUD

Tip: If the blood overlay clashes with another mod's HUD, change its position: 0 is NE, 1 is SE, 2 is SW and 3 is NW. The broom has its own overlay position setting, item.broom.guiOverlayPosition, which is also 1 here.[8]

    Collecting Blood

    Gear costs

    • The Invigorating Pendant holds 5,000 mB. It uses 100 mB each time it clears a bad effect, cuts 30 seconds off that effect, and uses 500 mB to put out fire.[8]
    • The Primed Pendant holds 5,000 mB and uses 10 mB per effect application. Health Boost is blacklisted, and Regeneration costs 10 times more.[8]
    • The Necromancer's Staff holds 10,000 mB and drains 2,000 mB per use.[8]
    • The Broom uses 1 mB per tick and 1 mB per block broken.[8]
    • The Blood Pearl of Teleportation gives 0 seconds of Slowness, so you don't slow down after teleporting (item.blood_pearl_of_teleportation.slownessDuration).[8]
    • Both Kineticators also pull in XP orbs. They use blood every 20 ticks while valid items are nearby.[8]

    Machines

    • The Blood Chest repairs one point of damage for 5 mB every 2 ticks. It has a 1/10000 chance to add a random bad enchant (machine.blood_chest.randomBadEnchantsChance). Sticks can't be repaired in it.[8]
    • The Spirit Furnace uses 25 mB per tick for normal spirits, 100 for player spirits and 250 for bosses. It needs 10 ticks per HP. Villagers have a 1/20 chance to drop emeralds.[8]
    • The Purifier caps collected potion effects at 6000 ticks (machine.purifier.maxPotionEffectDuration). It won't disenchant items matching tetra:.*.[8]
    • The Spirit Reanimator needs 500 ticks per revival at 5 mB per tick, and it empties the Box of Eternal Closure afterwards.[8]
    • The Environmental Accumulator has a default cooldown of 1200 ticks. The Sanguinary version uses a base of 50 mB, multiplied by each recipe's cooldown.[8]

    Mobs and world

    • At most 5 Vengeance Spirits spawn naturally within a 32 area (mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnLimit). A Gem Stone Torch keeps a radius of 15 spirit-proof.[8]
    • Actions like mining with the Vengeance Pickaxe have a 1/5 chance to spawn an actual spirit (mob.vengeance_spirit.nonDegradedSpawnChance).[8]
    • Poisonous Libelles spawn from Y 55 upward and poison you on a 1/20 chance per hit. They deal no extra damage.[8]
    • Villagers struck by lightning have a 50% chance to become werewolf villagers (mob.werewolf.convertOnLightning).[8]
    • Humanoid flesh drops on a 1/5 chance. Dark Temple loot chests spawn at a 0.15 chance, and extra silverfish blocks are off.[8]
