What is EvilCraft?
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta guide
This pack ships EvilCraft at version 1.2.107, built for NeoForge (the jar is evilcraft-26.1.2-neoforge-1.2.107.jar). So everything in this guide describes that version, not other releases you may have seen in videos or elsewhere.[1]
The mod has been in the pack for a while: it was first included in version 0.0.6 or earlier.[1]
How do you get started with EvilCraft?
3 parts
EvilCraft runs on blood, and the mod's own advancements give you a good order to follow: mine Dark Gems first, then craft a Blood Extractor. Here is how that plays out in this pack.[2]
Step 1: Get some Dark Gems
The mod's first advancement asks you to mine some Dark Gem to discover the origins of the first evil age. They come from Dark Ore, which also has a Deepslate Dark Ore variant.[2]
If you already have machines from other mods, the pack adds extra routes. It adds ore-to-gem processing recipes for several machine mods, such as the one in Occultism that gives 2 Dark Gems. It also adds a Hephaestus Forge casting recipe that turns Molten Dark Gem into a Dark Gem, so you can cast them too.[3]

Added by the pack: casting a Dark Gem from Molten Dark Gem.
Step 2: Craft the Blood Extractor
Next, make a Blood Extractor. Crafting it earns the second advancement, which starts the second evil age. It is how you collect blood, and almost everything else in the mod uses blood.[2]

In this pack the extractor holds up to 5,000 mB of blood (item.blood_extractor.containerSize). The mB you get per mob HP is a multiplier between 5 and 40 (item.blood_extractor.minimumMobMultiplier and item.blood_extractor.maximumMobMultiplier).[4]
Step 3: Put the blood to work with a Blood Chest
The Blood Chest is a good first use for your blood, because it repairs items.[2]

The pack's config has the chest use 5 mB of blood and 2 ticks per point of damage repaired (machine.blood_chest.mBPerDamage and machine.blood_chest.ticksPerDamage). Sticks are blacklisted and cannot be repaired (machine.blood_chest.itemBlacklist).[4]
How does EvilCraft work?
8 parts
EvilCraft runs on blood. Most of its machines, tools and charms either collect it, store it or burn it, so it helps to understand how it moves before you build anything. In this pack, fluid can flow out of machines and items at 100 mB per tick (general.general.mbFlowRate).[4]
Where blood comes from
The simplest source is a mob dying from a fall, which leaves a Blood Stain, a splash of blood on the block. The pack's config sets the blood added to a stain when a mob dies from fall damage to 20 mB per HP of the mob's max health (block.blood_stain.bloodMBPerHP). The config also lists blocks that stains cannot spawn onto, currently "tconstruct:.*" (block.blood_stain.spawnBlacklist), and stains on block entities are switched off (block.blood_stain.spawnOnBlockEntities).[2][4]
Undead Leaves can also produce Blood Stains. The config caps this at 25 mB per random tick (block.undead_leaves.maxBloodStainAmount).[4]
The Sanguinary Pedestal drains blood from stains in the area, and the Powered Sanguinary Pedestal drains more. The config sets a blood multiplier of 1.5 for each when Efficiency is active (item.sanguinary_pedestal_0.efficiencyBoost, item.sanguinary_pedestal_1.efficiencyBoost). A Spiked Plate damages mobs, and if you place it on a Pedestal it drains blood from them. Its config sets damage to 4 and the mob multiplier to 40 mB per mob HP (block.spiked_plate.damage, block.spiked_plate.mobMultiplier).[2][4]
The config sets the Blood Extractor's container size to 5,000 mB (item.blood_extractor.containerSize), with a mob multiplier range of 5 to 40 mB per mob HP (item.blood_extractor.minimumMobMultiplier, item.blood_extractor.maximumMobMultiplier). Auto-filling held buckets is turned off (item.blood_extractor.autoFillBuckets). The Vein Sword is set to an extraction boost of 2 and 32 maximum uses (item.vein_sword.extractionBoost, item.vein_sword.durability).[4]
Storing and moving fluid
The Dark Tank is the basic container. You place it in the crafting grid with other tanks to increase its capacity, and Shift + Right click toggles auto-supply. Once placed, you can right-click it to open a hole at the bottom that fills tanks, item containers and players carrying containers underneath it. Auto-filling held buckets is turned off in the pack's config (item.dark_tank.autoFillBuckets).[2][4]
The contents of Entangled Chalices are omnipresent, and each chalice shows a group. Shift + Right click toggles omni-supply. The Eternal Water Block is an infinite source of water. The config default is for it to auto-output water to adjacent blocks (block.eternal_water.autoOutputDefault).[2][4]
The Blood Chest, Colossal Blood Chest and Blood Infuser keep their tank contents when you break them and pick them up. The Box of Eternal Closure likewise keeps its own data in the dropped item.[5][6][7][8]
Blood Chest and Colossal Blood Chest
The Blood Chest repairs items. The config sets repair to 5 mB per point of damage and 2 ticks per point (machine.blood_chest.mBPerDamage, machine.blood_chest.ticksPerDamage). Sticks are on its list of items that cannot be repaired (machine.blood_chest.itemBlacklist). The config also gives a 1 in 10,000 chance that it adds random bad enchantments while repairing (machine.blood_chest.randomBadEnchantsChance).[2][4]

The Colossal Blood Chest is the industry-sized version. Its config base values are 5 mB per damage (machine.colossal_blood_chest.baseMBPerDamage) and 2 ticks per damage (machine.colossal_blood_chest.ticksPerDamage), with a base of 1 concurrent item before efficiency can rise (machine.colossal_blood_chest.baseConcurrentItems).[2][4]
Vengeance Spirits and their machines
Vengeance Spirits are the mod's second resource. You capture one with a Vengeance Focus into a Box of Eternal Closure, then put the box into a machine. The config allows at most 5 spirits to spawn naturally within a 32 block area (mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnLimit, mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnLimitArea). A Gemstone Torch blocks Vengeance Spirit spawning in a radius of 15 blocks (block.gem_stone_torch.area).[2][4]
- Spirit Furnace: cooks Vengeance Spirits to obtain their drops. The config sets its consumption to 25 mB per tick (machine.spirit_furnace.mBPerTick), 250 for a boss spirit (machine.spirit_furnace.bossMBPerTick) and 100 for a player spirit (machine.spirit_furnace.playerMBPerTick), and the cooking time to 10 ticks per HP of the entity (machine.spirit_furnace.requiredTicksPerHp). It reports "No more space for drops" if its output is full, and "Empty or no box" if the box is missing or empty.[2][4]
- Spirit Reanimator: revives Vengeance Spirits. The config sets its consumption to 5 mB per tick (machine.spirit_reanimator.mBPerTick) and 500 ticks per reanimation (machine.spirit_reanimator.requiredTicks). It reports a problem if the box holds different mob eggs or if the mob has no spawn egg. The config clears the box after a revival (machine.spirit_reanimator.clearBoxContents).[2][4]
Environmental Accumulators
The Environmental Accumulator is not craftable. You find it at Dark Temples. In the structure set, Dark Temples are placed with a spacing of 40 and a separation of 16.[2][9]
The Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator is the craftable version. When it says "Unable to work", it needs tanks with Blood at the positions it lists. The config sets its base usage to 50 mB, multiplied by each recipe's cooldown time (machine.sang_envir_acc.baseUsage). The config defaults for an accumulator are 100 ticks to process an item and 1,200 ticks to cool down (machine.envir_acc.defaultProcessItemTickCount, machine.envir_acc.defaultTickCooldown).[2][4]
Purifier
The Purifier works as a disenchanter. The config lists items matching "tetra:.*" as items that cannot be disenchanted (machine.purifier.disenchantBlacklist). The duration limit for collected potion effects is set to 6,000 ticks (machine.purifier.maxPotionEffectDuration).[2][4]
Blood-powered items
Several items store or spend blood, and the pack's EvilCraft config sets their values as follows.[4]
- Necromancer Staff: container capacity of 10,000 mB (item.necromancer_staff.capacity) and 2,000 drained per usage (item.necromancer_staff.usage).[4]
- Rejuvenated flesh: container size of 10,000 mB (item.flesh_rejuvenated.containerSize) and 250 mB consumed per bite (item.flesh_rejuvenated.biteUsage).[4]
- Invig pendant: capacity of 5,000 (item.invig_pendant.capacity) and 100 blood drained after each clearing of one bad effect (item.invig_pendant.usage).[4]
- Broom: blood usage of 1 mB per tick (item.broom.bloodUsage) and 1 mB per block break (item.broom.bloodUsageBlockBreak).[4]
Dark Gem processing in this pack
The pack adds a casting route for Dark Gems through Hephaestus Forge: 90 mB of Molten Dark Gem casts one Dark Gem, and 810 mB casts a Dark Block.[3]

How do you progress through EvilCraft?
5 parts
Here is what the pack's recipes show for EvilCraft. The recipe sources I have do not list ingredients for these recipes, and they do not say which item comes before which. So this section sticks to what is confirmed: where Dark Gems come from, and which items you can craft.[3]
Unverified The sources here show no quest that involves EvilCraft, so there is no quest-driven order to follow. Check the pack's quest book yourself, because the sources here do not confirm what it says about this mod.
Dark Gem: the base material
Dark Gem is the material the pack's recipes add the most routes for. Crushed Dark Gem is the crushed form, and the pack adds gem-to-dust recipes for it in several machine mods. The same machines also have ore-to-gem recipes that produce Dark Gem.[3]
- Ender IO sag milling: gem to crushed gem, and ore to Dark Gem. The stone ore recipe also gives cobblestone, and the deepslate one gives cobbled deepslate.[3]
- Energized Power pulverizer, FTB Industrial Contraptions macerating and LTX Industries grinding: each has both a gem-to-crushed-gem recipe and an ore-to-gem recipe.[3]
- Oritech: a pulverizer for gem to dust and ore to gem, plus a fragment forge recipe that produces Dark Gem.[3]
- Occultism crushing: the ore-to-gem recipe gives 2 Dark Gems, and there is also a gem-to-dust recipe.[3]
- Horse Powered grinding: a gem-to-dust recipe, plus a recipe that turns a Dark Gem into 2 Dark Gems.[3]
- Neo Vitae: both smelting and blasting recipes that turn dark gem dust into Dark Gem.[3]
- Productive Bees: a centrifuge recipe that outputs Dark Gem, Crushed Dark Gem and Wax.[3]
Casting Dark Gems
The pack also adds casting for Dark Gem through Hephaestus Forge. A casting table makes one Dark Gem from 90 Molten Dark Gem, and a casting basin makes one Dark Block from 810.[3]

You can also craft a Dark Block directly, because the mod's own shaped crafting recipe for it is in the pack.[3]
Blood machines and storage
Blood Extractor, Blood Infuser, Blood Chest, Colossal Blood Chest and Dark Tank are all craftable in the pack. The Blood Extractor and Blood Infuser recipes are shown here.[3]

How does EvilCraft work with other mods?
3 parts
EvilCraft's Blood and its Dark Gem line both show up in recipes from other mods in this pack. There are no quests for EvilCraft, so everything below comes from the recipes themselves.[3]
Blood in fabricating recipes
Recipes from Baubley Heart Canisters and Thunder Relics use Blood and are made with the fabricating recipe type from FTB Evolution 2 Companion. The second fluid in these recipes comes from other mods in the pack: essentia vitae (Essentia Vitae Source) from Neo Vitae and XP fluid (Xp Fluid Source) from Just Dire Things. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack recipes.[3]
The pack changed the recipes for the Vitality Blade and the Vigor Bow. The Miniature Blue Heart and the Royal Glaive are recipes the pack added.[3]

Which EvilCraft config options matter?
5 parts
These options are all set in config/evilcraft-common.toml. Below are the ones you are most likely to touch in EvilCraft, with the values this pack sets in that file.[4]
Getting blood
- The pack sets item.blood_extractor.containerSize to 5,000 mB, the amount that container can hold. The multiplier for mB received per mob HP is set between item.blood_extractor.minimumMobMultiplier = 5 and item.blood_extractor.maximumMobMultiplier = 40.[4]
- For the Vein Sword, the pack sets item.vein_sword.extractionBoost to 2 (a multiplying boost on the blood obtained) and item.vein_sword.durability to 32 maximum uses.[4]
- For the spiked plate, the pack sets the damage per time to 4 (block.spiked_plate.damage) and the multiplier for mB received per mob HP to 40 (block.spiked_plate.mobMultiplier).[4]
- general.general.mbFlowRate caps how much can flow out of machines and items at 100 mB per tick.[4]
Machines
- The Spirit Furnace is set to consume 25 mB per tick (machine.spirit_furnace.mBPerTick), 250 for boss spirits (machine.spirit_furnace.bossMBPerTick) and 100 for player spirits (machine.spirit_furnace.playerMBPerTick). The required time for cooking an entity is 10 ticks per HP (machine.spirit_furnace.requiredTicksPerHp).[4]
- The Spirit Reanimator is set to consume 5 mB per tick (machine.spirit_reanimator.mBPerTick) and to require 500 ticks for each reanimation (machine.spirit_reanimator.requiredTicks).[4]
- For the Blood Chest, the pack sets 5 mB to repair one damage value (machine.blood_chest.mBPerDamage) and 2 ticks required per damage value (machine.blood_chest.ticksPerDamage). Sticks are in the list of items that cannot be repaired (machine.blood_chest.itemBlacklist). The chance of random bad enchants is set to 1 in 10,000 (machine.blood_chest.randomBadEnchantsChance).[4]
- For the Environmental Accumulator, the pack sets the default processing time to 100 ticks (machine.envir_acc.defaultProcessItemTickCount) and the default cooldown to 1,200 ticks (machine.envir_acc.defaultTickCooldown).[4]
- The Purifier's list of items that cannot be disenchanted contains tetra:.* (machine.purifier.disenchantBlacklist). The duration limit for collecting a potion effect is 6,000 ticks (machine.purifier.maxPotionEffectDuration).[4]
Vengeance spirits
The maximum number of naturally spawnable vengeance spirits is set to 5 (mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnLimit), checked in an area of 32 (mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnLimitArea). The chance that an actual spirit spawns from actions like mining with the Vengeance Pickaxe is 1 in 5 (mob.vengeance_spirit.nonDegradedSpawnChance). mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnOnNonPlayerKills is false, so spirits are not set to spawn when entities are killed by non-player damage sources.[4]
The spirit blacklist (mob.vengeance_spirit.entityBlacklist) lists the vengeance spirit, controlled zombie and werewolf, the Ender Dragon and the merchant from Farming for Blockheads. The Gem Stone Torch is set to keep a radius of 15 spirit-proof (block.gem_stone_torch.area).[4]
Gear
- The Necromancer Staff is set to a capacity of 10,000 mB and drains 2,000 per usage (item.necromancer_staff.capacity, item.necromancer_staff.usage).[4]
- The Invigorating Pendant is set to a capacity of 5,000 and drains 100 after each clearing of one bad effect (item.invig_pendant.capacity, item.invig_pendant.usage). It drains 500 after one reduction or clearing of fire (item.invig_pendant.fireUsage).[4]
- The Primed Pendant is set to a capacity of 5,000 and drains 10 after one effect application (item.primed_pendant.capacity, item.primed_pendant.usage). In item.primed_pendant.potionMultipliers, health boost has a multiplier of -1 (a number smaller than one blacklists that potion) and regeneration has 10.[4]
- The broom's blood usage is set to 1 mB per tick and 1 mB per block break (item.broom.bloodUsage, item.broom.bloodUsageBlockBreak). general.general.broomSmashEnabled is true, so the broom smash modifier is enabled to allow breaking blocks.[4]
- The Vengeance Ring's area of effect is set to 10 blocks (item.vengeance_ring.areaOfEffect).[4]
Interface and world
general.general.bloodGuiOverlay is true, so the blood overlay is rendered. general.general.bloodGuiOverlayPosition is 1, which the config describes as SE. If it clashes with another HUD, change the offsets: general.general.bloodGuiOverlayPositionOffsetX is set to -5 and general.general.bloodGuiOverlayPositionOffsetY is set to -5.[4]
For world generation, the spawn chance for loot chests in dark temples is set to 0.15 (worldgeneration.general.darkTempleChestChance), and worldgeneration.general.extraSilverfish is false, so extra silverfish blocks are not set to spawn in all biomes.[4]
