What is EvilCraft?
2 parts
EvilCraft is a magic mod built around somewhat evil things. You collect the blood of your enemies and harness the power of an ancient source of evil, so expect blood, flesh and rituals. All the Mods 10 8.1 ships EvilCraft 1.2.94.[1][2][3]
If you like your magic on the darker side, this mod is for you. Fighting mobs directly fuels your progress, because killing them while you carry a Blood Extractor fills it with blood, and blood is one of the mod's most important resources.[3]
How progression works
- Start by finding some Dark Gem. The pack's EvilCraft chapter opens with "Welcome to EvilCraft!" quest, which asks for exactly that.[3]
- Craft a Blood Extractor and start killing mobs to collect blood. Dark Tank can hold 16 buckets of any liquid, which makes it handy for storing all that blood.[3]
- Collect at least 5 buckets of blood and pour it into a pool with at least 5 blocks of space. Then toss in a Dark Gem to infuse it into a Dark Power Gem.[3]
- Combine Hardened Blood Shard with Dark Power Gems to make Blood Infusion Core, the main crafting component of several EvilCraft machines.[3]
- Look for Dark Temples, which have a massive beam of light coming from their center. The Environmental Accumulator in the middle lets you empower and create items such as Lightning Bombs.[3]
EvilCraft and the ATM Star
EvilCraft is part of the ATM Star path in Chapter 3: The ATM Star. Its branch starts with "EvilCraft" quest, which asks for a Dark Gem, and several quests unlock after it.[2]
- "Lightning Bomb" quest: first fill a Weather Container at a Dark Temple's Environmental Accumulator during a thunderstorm, then make the Lightning Bomb. The pack's quests confirm you need a Lightning Bomb to craft the ATM Star.[2][3]
- "Dark Tank full of Eclipse Ember Fuel" quest: you need a Dark Tank filled with 16 buckets of Eclipse Ember Fuel. Getting that fuel takes extra steps with Liquid Voidflame Fuel and Shadowpulse Goo.[2]
- "2 Piercing Vengeance Focuses" quest: these Piercing Vengeance Focus cost a lot of Dark Gems.[2]
- "Mace of Destruction" quest: the Mace of Destruction is a long crafting chain with a whole lot of infusing, and you also have to fill the Mace itself with Blood.[2]
How do you get started with EvilCraft?
7 parts
EvilCraft is all about collecting the blood of your enemies and harnessing an ancient source of evil. The pack's "Welcome to EvilCraft!" quest quest kicks things off, and everything below follows the order the questline unlocks things, so you always know what to make next and why.[3]
Step 1: Dark Gems
Your very first goal is Dark Gem. You get them by mining, and nearly every early EvilCraft item needs them. If you end up with a Dark Block, you can turn it back into gems.[3][4][5]
Turns a Dark Block back into Dark Gems
Step 2: The Blood Extractor
Blood is the core resource of this mod, and the Blood Extractor is how you start collecting it. Keep it in your inventory and every mob you kill fills it with blood. Crafting it is also what starts the mod's second evil age.[3][4]

- Need more storage? Craft a second Blood Extractor and combine the two in a crafting grid.[3]
- Once you have enough blood stored, sneak-right-click the ground to place a bucket of blood.[3]
Step 3: Dark Tanks for storage
A Dark Tank holds 16 buckets of any liquid, and you'll want that for all the blood you're about to collect. You can combine tanks in a crafting grid to raise the capacity, and you can use them to boost your Blood Extractor's storage too. Tanks can also pull blood from Blood Stains on the ground, which appear when a mob falls to its death.[3][4]
Step 4: Your first Dark Power Gem
To progress, you need a Dark Power Gem, and your first one is made by hand. Collect at least 5 buckets of blood in your Blood Extractor. Then dig a hole with at least 5 blocks of space, fill it with the blood, and toss a Dark Gem into the pool to infuse it.[3]
Step 5: Hardened Blood Shards
Place a bucket of blood on the ground and leave it long enough, and it dries into Hardened Blood. Break it with Flint and Steel to get Hardened Blood Shard. Be careful here, because rain or breaking it with regular tools turns it back into liquid blood.[3][4]
Step 6: Blood Infusion Core and Blood Infuser
Your Dark Power Gem and Hardened Blood Shards come together as a Blood Infusion Core. This is the main crafting component for several EvilCraft machines.[3][5]

Your first machine should be the Blood Infuser. It infuses items with blood directly, so you never have to make Dark Power Gems in messy blood pools again. It's one of the main progression machines, and you can upgrade it later with Promises.[3]

Side trip: Dark Temples
Right after your first Dark Gems, keep an eye out for a Dark Temple. They're hard to miss because a massive beam of light shoots out of the centre. At the centre is an Environmental Accumulator, which can't be crafted. Throw a Weather Container into it and you can create items like the Lightning Bomb.[3][4]
How does EvilCraft work?
9 parts
Most of EvilCraft's machines and gear run on Blood. Blood is a fluid: you collect it from mobs, store it in tanks and containers, and spend it in machines and tools. Once you know where Blood comes from, how it moves and what uses it, the rest of the mod gets much easier to follow.[4][6]
Getting Blood
The simplest source is a Blood Stain, a splash of Blood that appears when an entity falls to its death. In this pack, block.blood_stain.bloodMBPerHP is 20. That means a stain gets 20 mB of Blood for every HP of the dead mob's max health.[4][6]
Stains have a couple of limits in this pack. block.blood_stain.spawnOnBlockEntities is false, so stains won't form on block entities. block.blood_stain.spawnBlacklist also stops stains from forming on any block matching tconstruct:.*, so plan your farm floor with that in mind.[6]
Undead Leaves can create Blood Stains by themselves, up to 25 mB per random tick, set by block.undead_leaves.maxBloodStainAmount. An Undead Sapling grows an Undead Tree.[4][6]
Hardened Blood is dried Blood. It turns back into liquid when it rains on it or when you break it.[4]
The Blood Extractor
Crafting the Blood Extractor starts what the mod calls the second evil age. In this pack it holds 5,000 mB of Blood, set by item.blood_extractor.containerSize. The Blood it collects per mob HP uses a multiplier between 5 and 40, set by item.blood_extractor.minimumMobMultiplier and item.blood_extractor.maximumMobMultiplier. It won't auto-fill held buckets here, because item.blood_extractor.autoFillBuckets is false.[4][6]

Automated Blood farming with Spiked Plates and Pedestals
The Sanguinary Pedestal drains Blood from Blood Stains in the area around it, and the second tier drains even more. Since stains form when mobs die from falling, a Pedestal is a natural partner for a fall-damage mob farm.[4]
The Spiked Plate damages any mob that walks over it, but it doesn't hurt you or other players. Place it on a Pedestal to drain Blood. In this pack it deals 4 damage each time it hurts a mob, set by block.spiked_plate.damage. You get 40 mB of Blood per mob HP, set by block.spiked_plate.mobMultiplier.[4][6]
Moving and storing fluids
In this pack, machines and items can push out up to 100 mB of fluid per tick, set by general.general.mbFlowRate. Keep that rate in mind when you plan how fast Blood moves through your setup.[6]
The Dark Tank is the main fluid container. It holds about sixteen buckets, and you can place it in the world or carry it in your inventory. Put several tanks together in a crafting grid to combine them into a bigger one. No fluid is lost when you do this.[4]
- Right-click a placed Dark Tank and it gets a purple glow. It then fills tanks, item containers and players carrying containers directly below it.[4]
- Hold the tank and shift + right-click while not aiming at a block to turn on auto-supply. The tank then tries to fill any container you're holding, as long as that container accepts the fluid.[4]
- Held buckets are not auto-filled in this pack, because item.dark_tank.autoFillBuckets is false.[6]
Entangled Chalices share their contents, so every entangled chalice holds the same fluid wherever it is. Shift + right-click one to turn on omni-supply.[4]
Blood machines and storage
The Blood Infusion Core goes into two key blocks: the Blood Infuser and the Blood Chest. There is also a Colossal Blood Chest, which the mod describes as an industry-sized Blood Chest.[4][5]

Environmental Accumulators and Biome Extracts
You can't craft the Environmental Accumulator. It only appears at Dark Temples. The Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator is the craftable version. It needs tanks with Blood at specific positions, and if the setup is invalid it shows a message listing where those tanks are required.[4]
An Accumulator can fill Biome Extract bottles with the biome it's placed in. Throw a filled bottle on the ground to turn that area into the stored biome. The downside is that the Accumulator slowly degrades its own biome, so the bottles it makes get less useful over time. In this pack, item.biome_extract.craftingBlacklist and item.biome_extract.usageBlacklist are both empty, so no biome is blocked.[4][6]

Vengeance Spirit machines
The Spirit Furnace cooks Vengeance Spirits to get their drops. It halts when it has no more space for drops, so keep its output clear. The Spirit Reanimator revives Vengeance Spirits. It needs a box that holds a spirit, and the mob must have a spawn egg. If different mob eggs are inside, you have to remove them first.[4]
To keep Vengeance Spirits away from your base, place Gem Stone Torches. In this pack each torch blocks spirit spawning in a 15-block radius, set by block.gem_stone_torch.area.[4][6]
Item handling helpers
The Display Stand shows off an item, but you can also use it in automation. Pipe items in and out through the top or bottom. From any other side, interaction passes through to the item it holds, so you can reach that item's inventory, fluids or energy.[4]
The Exalted Crafter lets you craft from your inventory, and you can open it with a hotkey. If you attach a chest to it, it gets an internal inventory, and even an Ender Chest works. Pressing the hotkey while the GUI is open clears the inventory, and shift plus the hotkey balances the items in the grid evenly. A toggle button picks where shift-removed items go: the crafter's inner inventory or your player inventory. If lightning strikes it, it can no longer be destroyed or disappear when dropped.[4]
In this pack, shift-clicking an item never sends it to the Exalted Crafter's grid first, on any variant. The shiftCraftingGrid option is false for all four variants, for example item.exalted_crafter.shiftCraftingGrid.[6]
Blood-powered gear
- The Broom uses 1 mB of Blood per tick, set by item.broom.bloodUsage, plus 1 mB per block broken, set by item.broom.bloodUsageBlockBreak.[6]
- The Kineticator checks the area for items every 1 tick and uses Blood every 20 ticks while valid items are nearby. It also attracts XP orbs, set by item.kineticator.moveXP. The repelling version has the same settings.[6]
- The Invigorating Pendant has a capacity of 5,000. It drains 100 Blood each time it clears a bad effect and reduces the first bad effect it finds by 30 seconds. It drains 500 Blood each time it reduces or clears fire.[6]
- Rejuvenated Flesh holds 10,000 mB and uses 250 mB per bite. The Necromancer Staff has a capacity of 10,000.[6]
How do you progress through EvilCraft?
7 parts
EvilCraft's progression in this pack follows the EvilCraft quest chapter, and it all runs on one resource: blood. You start by finding Dark Gem in the "Welcome to EvilCraft!" quest quest. From there, each tier unlocks the next one. You go from raw blood to Dark Power Gems, then Blood Infusion Cores, then the Blood Infuser, then upgrades with Promises, and finally Garmonbozia.[3]
Tier 1: Dark Gems and blood collection
Your first real tool is the Blood Extractor. Keep it in your inventory, and every mob you kill fills it with blood. Need more storage? Craft a second one and combine them in a crafting grid. With enough blood stored, you can sneak-right click the ground to place a bucket of blood.[3]

Next, grab a Dark Tank. It holds 16 buckets of any liquid, and you can combine two tanks in a crafting grid to make a bigger one. You can also use Dark Tanks to add storage to the Extractor and to pull blood out of Blood Stains on the ground.[3]
The pack also pushes you toward automated collection early. "Collecting Blood Stains" quest asks for a Sanguinary Pedestal and a Spiked Plate: the pedestal soaks up blood stains for later use, and a Spiked Plate on top means a mob standing there does the work for you. Over in the Forbidden and Arcanus chapter, "Auto Blood" quest steps this up to a Powered Sanguinary Pedestal with Spiked Plates on top, which damage mobs that hit them and deposit the blood into the pedestal. Mobs with more health give more blood, and the blood arrives as a fluid you can pipe out.[3][7]
While you're exploring, look for Dark Temples. You can't miss the huge beam of light coming from the center. Each temple has an Environmental Accumulator in the middle. Throw a Weather Container into it and you'll unlock the weather branch: rain gives you Eternal Water, and a thunderstorm gives you the Lightning Grenade and Lightning Bomb.[3]
Tier 2: Dark Power Gems and Infusion Cores
To make your first Dark Power Gem, collect at least 5 buckets of blood in your Extractor. Dig a hole with at least 5 blocks of space, fill it with the blood, and toss in a Dark Gem to infuse it.[3]
You'll also need dried blood. A Bucket of Blood left on the ground long enough, or placed in a Drying Basin, dries into Hardened Blood. Break it with Flint and Steel to get Hardened Blood Shard. If you break it with regular tools, it turns back into blood.[3]
Put those two together and you get the Blood Infusion Core. This is the main crafting component for most EvilCraft machines, including the Blood Chest, Purifier, Spirit Furnace and Spirit Reanimator.[3][5]

Tier 3: The Blood Infuser
The Blood Infuser means no more blood pools. It infuses items with blood directly, and the quests call it one of the main machines for progression. Once you have it, you unlock Undead Sapling. Undead Trees give you the logs and planks you need for tools like the Vein Sword, the Vengeance Pickaxe and Brooms.[3]

Promise ranks: upgrading your machines
You upgrade EvilCraft machines with Promises. The Promise of Tenacity line usually increases a machine's storage capacity. On the Blood Infuser, it also unlocks more recipes, so it's the backbone of the tier system.[3]
- "Upgrading Machines" quest: craft an Iron Promise Acceptor and a Promise of Tenacity I.[3]
- "Rank 2: More Blood" quest: step up to the Gold Promise Acceptor and Promise of Tenacity II.[3]
- "Rank 3: Even More Blood" quest: finish with the Diamond Promise Acceptor and Promise of Tenacity III.[3]

The Tips and Tricks chapter lists the Purifier and the Blook among the options in "Disenchanting Methods" quest.[3][8]
Spirits and the mob farm
Vengeance Spirits sometimes spawn when you kill mobs, and their essence goes into more advanced EvilCraft crafting. Build a Vengeance Focus to freeze them in place, then set a Box of Eternal Closure nearby to suck one in. Once you have Rank 2 and a captured spirit, you can build EvilCraft's own mob farm out of Dark Blood Brick. It is a cuboid with enough room for the mob to spawn, 3x4x3 at minimum, and a Spirit Furnace on one of the faces closes it off so you can interact with the structure. The spirit in the box decides the drops, and bigger mobs need a bigger build.[3]

Endgame: Garmonbozia
After Rank 3, you use the Blood Infuser and the power of a slain Vengeance Spirit to make Garmonbozia, Pain and Sorrow materialized. The quest book calls it the high-end crafting material for EvilCraft's powerful tools and items, and the quests that follow it are where the mod's best gear lives: the Primed Pendant, the Mace of Destruction, the flesh line that ends in an infinite food source with Rejuvenated Flesh, and your own Sanguinary Environmental Acc. so you are no longer tied to Dark Temples.[3]

EvilCraft and the ATM Star
The ATM Star chapter needs several EvilCraft items. You'll need a Lightning Bomb, two Piercing Vengeance Focuses, a Mace of Destruction, and a Dark Tank filled with 16 buckets of Eclipse Ember Fuel. Eclipse Ember Fuel comes from outside EvilCraft: drop an Eclipse Ember into Liquid Voidflame Fuel, then let Shadowpulse Goo spread to it.[2]

After the Fully Automated ATM Star, the Creative chapter offers the Creative Blood Drop. It fills any blood container infinitely. Crafting it takes 4 Promise of Tenacity, an ATM Star, and 4 other items that must be full of blood.[9]
How does EvilCraft work with other mods?
4 parts
EvilCraft is woven deep into this pack. The pack adds a lot of recipes that pull EvilCraft items into other mods, and Blood is the big one. If you're heading into endgame magic or the ATM Star, you'll want a healthy blood supply.[5]
Blood in the Automatic Hephaestus Forge
The pack adds a large set of Automatic Hephaestus Forge recipes, and every one of them uses Blood. These cover a lot of Forbidden Arcanus, Modern Industrialization and Allthemodium progression. Here are the highlights:[5]
- Hephaestus Forge upgrades: Hephaestus Forge Tier 2, Hephaestus Forge Tier 3, Hephaestus Forge Tier 4 and Hephaestus Forge Tier 5.[5]
- Forbidden Arcanus prisms and materials: Sea Prism, Smelter Prism, Terrastomp Prism, Whirlwind Prism, Eternal Stella, Quantum Injector, Quantum Catcher, Boss Catcher, Soul Binding Crystal, Ferrognetic Mixture and Runic Attuned Arcane Crystal.[5]
- Runic machine parts: Automatic Hephaestus Forge itself, Runic Star Altar, Runic Crucible, Runic Enchanter and the runic item, fluid and energy hatches.[5]
- Allthemodium alloy gear: Allthemodium Alloy Pick, Allthemodium Alloy Axe, Allthemodium Alloy Shovel, Allthemodium Alloy Blade and Allthemodium Alloy Paxel, plus several recipes for Modularium.[5]
The road to the ATM Star
Two EvilCraft items feed into the ATM Star crafting chain. Lightning Bomb is part of the Pulsating Black Hole recipe, and Piercing Vengeance Focus is part of the Oblivion Shard recipe. The EvilCraft quest "You've Been Thunderstruck" quest reminds you directly that you'll need a Lightning Bomb for the ATM Star.[3][5]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use EvilCraft?
3 parts
EvilCraft has its own full quest chapter in All the Mods 10 8.1, and it also turns up in several other chapters. The biggest one is the ATM Star chapter, where a few EvilCraft items are required. Here's the path through each of them.[2][3]
The EvilCraft chapter
The chapter opens with "Welcome to EvilCraft!" quest, which asks for a Dark Gem and points you to the Origins of Darkness guidebook. From there it branches in two directions: blood collection and the Dark Temples.[3]
- "Collecting Blood" quest asks for a Blood Extractor. As long as it's in your inventory, killing mobs fills it with blood.[3]
- "Dark Temples" quest has you find a Dark Temple and craft a Weather Container for the Environmental Accumulator in its center. It unlocks "Stop the Rain!" quest (Eternal Water block and bucket), "You've Been Thunderstruck" quest (Lightning Bomb and Lightning Grenade), the Mace of Distortion and the Necromancer Staff.[3]
- Several quests branch off Collecting Blood: "Storing Fluids" quest (a Dark Tank holding 16 buckets), "Collecting Blood Stains" quest (Sanguinary Pedestal and Spiked Plate), "Revenge of the Spirits" quest (a Vengeance Ring) and the Spikey Claws.[3]
- "Infusing Gems with Blood" quest asks for a Dark Power Gem. You collect at least 5 buckets of blood, pour it into a pool of at least 5 blocks and toss in a Dark Gem. Alongside it, "Drying... Blood?" quest asks for a Hardened Blood Shard, which you get by breaking Hardened Blood with Flint and Steel.[3]
- Once you have both, "Infusion Cores" quest unlocks. It opens "The Blood Infuser" quest, "Repairing Tools with Blood" quest and the Invigorating Pendant.[3]
- The Blood Infuser leads to "Undead Trees" quest and "Upgrading Machines" quest. Undead Trees opens the Vengeance Pickaxe, the Vein Sword and "Blood Brooms" quest. Upgrading Machines opens "Removing Enchantments and Curses" quest, the speed and efficiency Promises, "Kineticators" quest, the Sceptre of Thunder and "Rank 2: More Blood" quest.[3]
- Rank 2 together with "Capturing Spirits" quest unlocks "Mob Farms using Blood" quest. You need at least 33 Dark Blood Bricks, and the smallest farm is 3x4x3. After that comes "Creating Spawn Eggs" quest.[3]
- "Rank 3: Even More Blood" quest unlocks "Entangled Chalice" quest and "Garmonbozia" quest. Garmonbozia is the endgame branch: it leads to the Primed Pendant, the Mace of Destruction, the "Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator" quest and the flesh quests that end in Rejuvenated Flesh.[3]
Chapter 3: The ATM Star
This chapter starts with its own "EvilCraft" quest quest, which asks for a Dark Gem. That quest unlocks four requirements: "Lightning Bomb" quest, "Dark Tank full of Eclipse Ember Fuel" quest (16 buckets of that fuel, which takes a multi-step process explained in the quest), "2 Piercing Vengeance Focuses" quest and "Mace of Destruction" quest. The Mace also has to be filled with blood.[2]
Other chapters
- Forbidden & Arcanus: "Auto Blood" quest asks for Spiked Plates and a Powered Sanguinary Pedestal so you can pipe blood into the Forge. "Blood" quest follows and asks for a Blood Bucket.[7]
- Apothic Spawners: this chapter includes a quest for the Spirit Reanimator, which turns trapped spirits into Spawn Eggs.[10]
- Chapter 4: Creative: "Creative Blood Drop" quest comes after the Fully Automated ATM Star quest. The drop fills any container that needs blood, infinitely.[9]
- Basic Tools: the Vein Sword shows up here, noted at 4 Attack Damage.[11]
- Tips and Tricks: "Disenchanting Methods" quest accepts the Purifier or Blook as one of many ways to pull enchantments off items.[8]
Which EvilCraft config options matter?
5 parts
EvilCraft has a big common config file, but only a handful of options really change how your blood-soaked playthrough feels. Here's what All the Mods 10 8.1 sets for the ones you're most likely to notice.[6]
Unverified The sources only show the values this pack ships with, not the mod's own defaults. So this section can't tell you which of these values the pack changed from stock EvilCraft.
Getting blood
- When a mob dies from fall damage, block.blood_stain.bloodMBPerHP is 20, so you get 20 mB of blood stain per HP of the mob's max health (2 HP is 1 heart).[6]
- Blood stains won't spawn on block entities because block.blood_stain.spawnOnBlockEntities is false. block.blood_stain.spawnBlacklist also blocks them on every Tinkers' Construct block.[6]
- Spiked Plates deal 4 damage per hit (block.spiked_plate.damage) and give 40 mB per mob HP (block.spiked_plate.mobMultiplier).[6]
- The Blood Extractor holds 5,000 mB. Each mob HP gives between 5 and 40 mB, set by item.blood_extractor.minimumMobMultiplier and item.blood_extractor.maximumMobMultiplier.[6]
- The Vein Sword has 32 uses (item.vein_sword.durability) and multiplies the blood you get by 2 (item.vein_sword.extractionBoost).[6]
- Undead Leaves can make at most 25 mB of blood stain per random tick (block.undead_leaves.maxBloodStainAmount).[6]
- Machines and items push out up to 100 mB per tick (general.general.mbFlowRate).[6]
Blood Chest repairs
The Blood Chest uses 5 mB and 2 ticks to repair each point of damage (machine.blood_chest.mBPerDamage and machine.blood_chest.ticksPerDamage). Sticks can't be repaired.[6]
Spirits and mobs
- At most 2 Vengeance Spirits can spawn naturally within a 24-block check area (mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnLimit and mob.vengeance_spirit.spawnLimitArea).[6]
- Actions like mining with the Vengeance Pickaxe have a 1 in 5 chance to spawn an actual spirit (mob.vengeance_spirit.nonDegradedSpawnChance).[6]
- A Gem Stone Torch keeps a radius of 15 spirit-proof (block.gem_stone_torch.area).[6]
- Spirits of the Ender Dragon, werewolves and a few other mobs are blacklisted (mob.vengeance_spirit.entityBlacklist).[6]
- Poisonous Libelles spawn only at Y 55 or higher. They deal no attack damage, but each hit has a 1 in 20 chance to poison you.[6]
- A villager struck by lightning has a 50% chance to become a werewolf villager (mob.werewolf.convertOnLightning).[6]
Spirit Furnace
The Spirit Furnace burns 25 mB per tick for normal mobs, 100 mB for player spirits and 250 mB for bosses. It needs 10 ticks per HP of the entity it's cooking. Villagers have a 1 in 20 chance to drop emeralds.[6]
Quality of life
- The blood overlay is on and sits in the bottom-right corner (position 1 = SE) of your screen (general.general.bloodGuiOverlayPosition).[6]
- Teleporting with the Blood Pearl of Teleportation gives you 0 seconds of slowness (item.blood_pearl_of_teleportation.slownessDuration).[6]
