What is EvilCraft?

1 part

EvilCraft is one of the long-running magic-flavoured mods riding along in this pack, included here as version 1.2.58. It has been part of the pack for a while now, going back to at least an early 0.42 build, so if you have played older versions you will find it in its usual place in the mod list.[1]

Where it fits in progression

The pack does not give EvilCraft its own quest chapter. Instead it makes a single appearance in the "basic_tools" chapter, where a quest in "?" asks you for a Vein Sword. That puts it firmly in the early, optional tooling side of the questbook rather than in any gated progression line.[2]

EvilCraft is not on the ATM Star path in this pack, so nothing in it is required to finish the pack's main goal. Treat it as a side branch you can dip into when you want something different from the usual tech and magic routes.[1][2]

Tip: If you are working through the "basic_tools" chapter and want to tick every box, the Vein Sword is the only EvilCraft item you need to hand in.[2]

Unverified Details of EvilCraft's own mechanics in this pack (its blood and Dark Power systems, altars, how the Vein Sword is obtained, and any config changes the pack makes) are not covered by the sources available for this page, so nothing about them is stated here as fact.

How do you get started with EvilCraft?

4 parts

EvilCraft starts underground. Mining Dark Gems is what kicks off the mod's "first evil age", so grab a pickaxe and head down before you worry about any of the fancier machines. Almost every early recipe in the mod runs through that one gem.[3]

Dark Gems pack into Dark Blocks and back again, which is the easiest way to keep a big stash tidy while you mine.[4]

Get the mod's own book

Before you build anything else, make a Darkened Apple. Feeding one to an animal creates an anomaly, and throwing a book into that anomaly gets you a copy of the Origins of Darkness, EvilCraft's in-game guide.[3][4]

Your first components

Two small parts show up again and again later: Spikes, which are sharp and durable and which mobs really don't enjoy, and Dark Sticks. Make a few of each early so you're not stopping mid-build to backfill them.[3][4]

You'll want somewhere to put fluids too, and the Dark Tank is the answer. It holds about sixteen buckets, and if that's too small you can place several of them together in a crafting table to combine them into a bigger tank without losing any fluid.[3][4]

Tip: A placed Dark Tank can be right-clicked to give it a purple glow, which opens a hole in its base that automatically fills tanks, item containers and players carrying containers underneath it. Shift plus right-click while holding the tank and not aiming at a block turns on a mode that fills whatever container you're currently holding.[3]

Where to go next

Once the blood side of the mod is running, the Blood Infusion Core is the gateway part. It turns into the Blood Infuser, the machine you'll use for most later upgrades, and into the Blood Chest.[4]

How does EvilCraft work?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.27 guide

EvilCraft splits its progression into evil ages. The first age begins when you mine your first Dark Gem, and the second begins when you craft a Blood Extractor. Most of the mod's deeper systems revolve around two resources: Blood, and the Vengeance Spirits you'll run into along the way.[3]

Getting Blood into the world

Blood shows up naturally. When an entity falls to its death, it leaves a Blood Stain behind. Dried Blood forms as Hardened Blood, which turns back into liquid when it rains or when you break it.[3]

To collect Blood from stains, you use Sanguinary Pedestals. The basic pedestal drains Blood from blood stains in the area, and the upgraded version drains more. Pair a pedestal with a Spiked Plate, which damages mobs and can be placed on a Pedestal to drain their blood, and you've got the core of a Blood farm.[3]

The Spiked Plate is made from Spikes and damages any mob that walks over it, but you and other players take no damage. The Dark Gem power in it makes mobs killed this way drop the same things they would if a player killed them.[3]

Tip: Spiked Plates also give off a redstone signal while a mob is taking damage, so you can use them to trigger other parts of your setup.[3]

Blood machines

Crafting the Blood Extractor is what starts the second evil age, so it's the first real Blood machine you'll build.[3][5]

The key component for the next machines is the Blood Infusion Core. In this pack's recipes, it goes into both the Blood Infuser and the Blood Chest. There's also a Colossal Blood Chest, described as an industry-sized Blood Chest.[3][5]

Fluid handling

The Dark Tank is EvilCraft's fluid container. It's made with Iron, Dark Gems and Glass, and it can either be placed down or carried in your inventory. A single tank holds about sixteen buckets.[3]

  • To expand capacity, place several Dark Tanks together in a crafting grid. No fluid is lost when you combine them.[3]
  • Right-clicking a placed tank gives it a purple glow and opens a hole at the bottom. It then automatically fills tanks, item containers and players carrying containers underneath it.[3]
  • Shift + right-click with the tank in your hand while not aiming at a block to enable auto-supply. The tank then tries to fill any container you're holding that can accept its fluid.[3]

Entangled Chalices take this further: their contents are omnipresent, and Shift + right-click switches them to omni-supply. If you just need water, Eternal Water is an infinite source of water.[3]

Item handling and crafting on the go

The Display Stand is a handy automation block that works with any wood type and any rotation. You can pipe items in and out through its top or bottom. Interacting from any other side passes through to the displayed item itself, so you can reach its inventory, fluids and energy.[3]

The Exalted Crafter uses the power of Crushed Dark Gem to let you craft from within your inventory. Attach a chest to it for an internal inventory; even an Ender Chest works.[3]

  • You can bind it to a hotkey. Pressing that hotkey while the GUI is open clears the grid, and pressing it with Shift balances the items across the grid.[3]
  • A toggle button chooses where shift-removed items go: the crafter's inner inventory or your player inventory.[3]
  • Strike it with lightning to bind it to reality, so it can't be destroyed and won't disappear when dropped.[3]

Environmental Accumulators and Biome Extracts

The Environmental Accumulator is found at Dark Temples and can't be crafted. One of its abilities is filling Biome Extract bottles with the biome it's currently placed in. You can then throw those bottles on the ground to transform that area into the stored biome.[3]

Watch out: The Environmental Accumulator degrades its own biome over time, so the bottles it produces eventually become pretty useless.[3]

The Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator is the craftable version. It needs tanks containing Blood at specific locations around it, and it will tell you where they're missing. The empty Biome Extract bottle itself has a crafting recipe in this pack.[3][5]

Unverified The exact positions where the Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator needs its Blood tanks, and how much Blood it uses, aren't covered by the available sources.

Vengeance Spirits

Vengeance Spirits have their own processing chain. You capture one with a Vengeance Focus into a Box of Eternal Closure. From there, the Spirit Furnace cooks captured spirits to get their drops, and it halts when it runs out of space for drops. The Spirit Reanimator revives spirits instead, but it only works with a valid box, a mob that has a spawn egg, and no mismatched mob eggs inside.[3]

Tip: Want to keep Vengeance Spirits away from your base? A Gem Stone Torch blocks them from spawning within a radius of 15 blocks.[3]

How do you progress through EvilCraft?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.0 guide

EvilCraft in this pack runs on one currency: dark gems. Almost every tier of the mod branches off them, and the pack's quests follow that same shape. The first EvilCraft quest simply asks you to hold a Dark Gem, and four more quests unlock from it, so getting your first gems is the real gate on everything below.[6]

Tier 1: dark gems

Hand Dark Gem in for the opening quest and the rest of the EvilCraft chain opens up. Gems compress into Dark Block and back, so storage is easy once you have a steady supply.[6][7]

This pack also gives you a bee route: centrifuging the EvilCraft honeycomb from Productive Bees yields Dark Gem and Crushed Dark Gem alongside wax, which is a nice passive trickle once your automation is running.[7]

    Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/evilcraft/honeycomb_dark_gem

    Tier 2: basic dark gear

With gems in hand you build the workhorse parts: Dark Stick, Spike and Blood Extractor, the tool that gets blood flowing. The Dark Tank is your storage for that blood, and it is one of the four quests that unlocks straight off the dark gem quest.[6][7]

Tier 3: dark power gems and the Blood Infuser

Dark Power Gem is the step up from a plain gem, and it is the key to the mod's mid game. Combined with a Hardened Blood Shard it makes the Blood Infusion Core, the component that shows up in nearly every serious EvilCraft machine and trinket.[7]

Dark power gems also unlock your first real weapon tier. The Vein Sword is its own quest over in the basic tools chapter, so you can pick it up independently of the main EvilCraft chain.[7][8]

    Tier 4: infusion-core gear

Once cores are repeatable, spend them on quality-of-life kit: Blood Chest and Colossal Blood Chest for repairing gear, Invigorating Pendant for a wearable buff, and Kineticator or Repelling Kineticator for item pickup. The kineticators also want a filled Blood Orb, so keep your blood production going.[7]

Tier 5: End-tier and empowered gear

The last two quests on the chain are the expensive ones. The Piercing Vengeance Focus pulls in End materials on top of a filled blood orb and a Vengeance Focus, so plan it for after your first End trip.[6][7]

Tip: Four quests branch off the dark gem quest at once, so there is no forced order after that first step. If you just want the weapon, the Vein Sword sits in a separate chapter and only needs tier 3 materials.[6][7][8]

Unverified The sources here do not cover how you first obtain Dark Gems from the world, or how Dark Power Gems, Hardened Blood Shards, Garmonbozia and Empowered Inverted Potentia are produced in this pack. Check JEI in game for those steps. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does EvilCraft work with other mods?

    3 parts

EvilCraft's connections to other mods in this pack come from recipes. The only quest that touches EvilCraft is a single task in the basic tools chapter that asks for a Vein Sword, and that quest involves no other mod, so I'm leaving it out here.[2][4]

    Pack-added recipes

The pack adds a recipe for the Oblivion Shard where EvilCraft's Blood and Piercing Vengeance Focus meet the Eternal Stella from Forbidden Arcanus. It is a shaped crafting recipe, so you make it at a normal crafting table, and the exact layout is shown below.[4]

The Pulsating Black Hole is the big one. The pack's recipe for it pulls in items from many different mods, and EvilCraft's Lightning Bomb is one of them. Expect to gather things from across the pack for this one.[4]

Undead Planks from other mods' sawmills

The pack lets you turn any log in the EvilCraft undead logs tag into Undead Planks with Mekanism's sawing machine. That recipe also gives you Sawdust as a byproduct.[4]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use EvilCraft?

      1 part

EvilCraft only shows up in one place in this pack's quest book, and it's a small one. The sources I have cover a single quest, so this section is short.[2]

      Basic Tools chapter

The only EvilCraft quest I can confirm is a quest in "?", found in the "basic_tools" chapter. It has no title in the quest data, and it has a single task: you hand in a Vein Sword.[2]

Because this is the only EvilCraft quest in the sources, there is no quest order to follow for this mod. The quest data I have doesn't list any rewards or prerequisites for it either.[2]

Unverified Whether this quest has rewards, dependencies on other quests, or sits alongside other EvilCraft quests in other chapters is not confirmed by the available sources. Also, the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.
