What is EvilCraft?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

EvilCraft is in All the Mods 10 4.5 as version 1.2.74, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it has been in for a long time.[1]

The pack gives EvilCraft its own quest chapter. The chapter starts with a single task: get a Dark Gem in a quest in "?". From there it splits into two branches. One starts with the Blood Extractor and the other with the Weather Container. The Weather Container quest also includes a structure task.[2]

How the quest chapter unfolds

  1. The Weather Container branch leads to the Necromancer Staff, the Mace of Distortion, the Lightning Bomb and Lightning Grenade, and Eternal Water Block.[2]
  2. The Blood Extractor branch opens up the Dark Power Gem, the Hardened Blood Shard, the Dark Tank, the Vengeance Ring, the Spikey Claws, and the Sanguinary Pedestal with the Spiked Plate.[2]
  3. The Dark Power Gem and Hardened Blood Shard quests both lead into the Blood Infusion Core in a quest in "?". That quest unlocks the Blood Infuser, the Blood Chest and the Invigorating Pendant.[2]
  4. The Blood Infuser leads to the Promise system, starting with the Iron Promise Acceptor and Promise of Tenacity I. It also leads to the Undead Sapling, which opens up the Broom, the Vein Sword and the Vengeance Pickaxe.[2]
  5. Late in the chapter you build the Spirit Furnace, and its quest also asks for 33 Dark Blood Brick. After that come the Spirit Reanimator, Garmonbozia, the Entangled Chalice and the Mace of Destruction.[2]

EvilCraft also appears in other quest chapters. The Forbidden Arcanus chapter asks for a Spiked Plate and a Powered Sanguinary Pedestal, and after that a Blood Bucket.[3]

The "chapter_2_the_star" quest chapter also opens with a Dark Gem. It then asks for a Lightning Bomb, a Dark Tank, a Piercing Vengeance Focus and a Mace of Destruction.[4]

Tip: Both the EvilCraft chapter and the "chapter_2_the_star" chapter start with a Dark Gem, and the Mace of Destruction shows up in both. If you work through the EvilCraft chapter, you'll also be making progress on those other quests.[2][4]

Unverified It is unconfirmed whether the "chapter_2_the_star" quests count toward the ATM Star. It is also unconfirmed how EvilCraft's blood and machine mechanics work in detail, because the available sources only list quest tasks.

How do you get started with EvilCraft?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

EvilCraft has its own chapter in the All the Mods 10 quest book, and it all starts from one item: the Dark Gem. The chapter then splits into two paths. One follows the Blood Extractor, which is where most of the progression goes. The other follows the Weather Container. Follow the steps below in order and you'll hit the quests that unlock the rest of the tree.[2]

Step 1: Get Dark Gems

Your first goal is a Dark Gem, which completes a quest in "?". The mod's own advancement tells you to mine Dark Gems to discover the first evil age, so keep an eye out for them while you're underground. If you find or make a Dark Block, you can turn it back into gems.[2][5][6]

Step 2: Craft a Blood Extractor

The Blood Extractor is your big milestone. The mod calls crafting it the start of the second evil age, and its quest a quest in "?" unlocks most of the chapter. That includes Spikey Claws, the Hardened Blood Shard, the Vengeance Ring, the Dark Power Gem, the Dark Tank and the Sanguinary Pedestal. The recipe uses a Spike. The mod's notes describe making Spikes from a Dark Gem and a piece of iron.[2][5][6]

Step 3: Build a Dark Tank

Next, grab a Dark Tank so you have somewhere to put fluids. The mod describes it as holding about sixteen buckets. You can combine several tanks in a crafting grid to raise the capacity without losing any fluid. If you place it and right-click it, it will fill containers underneath it. If you Shift + right-click while holding it in the air, it will try to fill the container you're holding.[2][6]

Step 4: Start collecting blood

The quest a quest in "?" asks for a Sanguinary Pedestal and a Spiked Plate. The pedestal drains blood from blood stains in the area. Blood stains appear when an entity falls to its death. The Spiked Plate damages mobs, and if you place it on the pedestal it drains their blood.[2][6]

Step 5: The Blood Infusion Core

Once you've done the Dark Power Gem quest a quest in "?" and the Hardened Blood Shard quest a quest in "?", you unlock a quest in "?" for the Blood Infusion Core. This core is the gateway to the Blood Infuser, the Blood Chest and the Invigorating Pendant.[2][5]

Side path: the Weather Container

The quest a quest in "?" asks you to find a structure and get a Weather Container. It unlocks the Necromancer Staff, the Mace of Distortion, the Lightning Grenade and Lightning Bomb, and Eternal Water. The Eternal Water Block block is an infinite source of water, so it's a handy early grab.[2][6]

Tip: EvilCraft matters beyond its own chapter. The pack's Star quest chapter asks for a Dark Gem, a Dark Tank, a Lightning Bomb, a Piercing Vengeance Focus and a Mace of Destruction, so the early steps above also move you toward that goal.[4]

Unverified The sources don't confirm where Dark Gems generate, which structure the Weather Container quest wants, or how you first obtain Dark Power Gems and Hardened Blood Shards beyond the unpacking recipes shown. Check JEI in-game for those. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does EvilCraft work?

7 parts

EvilCraft doesn't run on a big power network. Its systems are built around a few key ideas: harvesting Blood from mobs, moving fluids with its own tanks and chalices, handling Vengeance Spirits, and a portable crafting tool. Here's how each piece works, as far as the mod's own text explains it.[7]

Getting Blood: stains, pedestals and spiked plates

Blood starts out in the world. When an entity falls to its death, it leaves a Blood Stain behind. Dried Blood shows up as Hardened Blood, which turns back into liquid when it rains or when you break it.[7]

To collect Blood, you use a Sanguinary Pedestal. The basic pedestal drains Blood from blood stains in the area, and the upgraded version drains more. If you want a steady supply instead of waiting for fall damage, put a Spiked Plate on the pedestal. The plate damages mobs that walk over it, and the pedestal drains the Blood.[7]

  • Spiked Plates damage mobs but leave you and other players unharmed.[7]
  • Mobs killed on a Spiked Plate drop the same loot as if a player had killed them, so it also works as a farm.[7]
  • The plate gives off a redstone signal whenever a mob takes damage, which is handy for timers or indicator lamps.[7]

The second evil age: Blood machines

Crafting a Blood Extractor starts what the mod calls the second evil age, so treat it as your gateway into the Blood side of the mod. It uses a Spike, which you'll need to make first.[7][8]

The next key component is the Blood Infusion Core. It needs a Dark Power Gem and a Hardened Blood Shard, and you'll use it to craft both the Blood Infuser and the Blood Chest.[8]

There's also a Colossal Blood Chest, which the mod describes as an industry-sized Blood Chest.[7]

Unverified The sources don't say exactly what the Blood Extractor, Blood Infuser or Blood Chest do, how much Blood they use, or how the Colossal Blood Chest is built. Check in-game tooltips or JEI for those details. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Fluid handling: Dark Tanks, chalices and Eternal Water

The Dark Tank is EvilCraft's main fluid container. You can place it in the world or carry it in your inventory, and it holds about sixteen buckets. Need more room? Put several tanks together in a crafting grid to combine them into one bigger tank. No fluid is lost when you do this.[7]

  • Right-click a placed Dark Tank to make it glow purple. It then automatically fills tanks, item containers and players holding containers directly below it.[7]
  • Shift + right-click with the tank in your hand while not aiming at a block to turn on auto-supply. The tank will then try to fill any container you're holding that can accept its fluid.[7]

Entangled Chalices take this further: their contents are omnipresent, so linked chalices share the same fluid. Shift + right-click one to turn on omni-supply. For water, Eternal Water is an infinite source.[7]

Item handling: the Display Stand

The Display Stand looks decorative, but it matters for automation. You can pipe items into and out of it from the top or bottom. From every other side, interactions are passed through to the item on the stand, so you can reach that item's inventory, fluids or energy directly.[7]

Vengeance Spirits: capture, cooking and reviving

Vengeance Spirits power a small chain of machines. You capture a spirit in a Box of Eternal Closure using a Vengeance Focus. From there you have two options.[7]

  • The Spirit Furnace cooks Vengeance Spirits to give you their drops. It stops working when it runs out of space for drops, so keep its output emptied.[7]
  • The Spirit Reanimator revives Vengeance Spirits. It needs a box containing a spirit, and it only works for mobs that have a spawn egg. It also complains if you insert different mob eggs, so use one kind at a time.[7]
Tip: Don't want Vengeance Spirits showing up around your base? A Gem Stone Torch stops them from spawning within a radius of 15 blocks.[7]

Environmental Accumulators and Biome Extracts

The Environmental Accumulator can't be crafted. You find it at Dark Temples. One of its jobs is filling Biome Extract bottles with the biome it's sitting in. Throw a filled bottle on the ground and it turns that area into the stored biome. The catch is that the accumulator slowly degrades its own biome, so the bottles it produces become less and less useful over time.[7]

The Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator is the craftable version. It needs tanks containing Blood at specific positions around it. If they're missing, it shows you where the Blood tanks are required, so build it as a small structure rather than a single block.[7]

The Biome Extract itself has a crafting recipe in this pack.[8]

Unverified The sources don't give the exact layout of the Blood tanks for the Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator, or confirm whether it avoids the biome degradation.

Crafting on the go: the Exalted Crafter

The Exalted Crafter lets you craft from your inventory, powered by Crushed Dark Gem. Attach a chest to give it an internal inventory. Even an Ender Chest works.[7]

  • You can bind it to a hotkey. Pressing that hotkey with the GUI open clears the grid, and pressing it with Shift balances the items in the grid.[7]
  • A toggle button chooses where items go when you shift-remove them from the grid: the internal inventory or your player inventory.[7]
  • If it gets struck by lightning, it becomes bound to reality and can't be destroyed or despawn when dropped.[7]

How do you progress through EvilCraft?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

The EvilCraft quest chapter in this pack is a big branching tree. Everything starts with a single item, Dark Gem, in a quest in "?". From there the chapter splits into two lines: a weather and combat branch that opens with Weather Container, and a blood branch that opens with Blood Extractor. The blood branch is where the real progression happens.[2]

Unverified The sources don't say how you get your first Dark Gems, or what the structure task in the Weather Container quest asks for. Check the quest book in-game for those details.

Weather and combat branch

a quest in "?" has a structure task and also asks for a Weather Container. Completing it unlocks several side quests.[2]

Early blood tier

Your first real milestone is the Blood Extractor in a quest in "?". Almost every later quest in the chapter traces back to it.[2]

The Blood Infusion Core gate

a quest in "?" asks for a Blood Infusion Core. It only unlocks once you've finished both the Dark Power Gem quest and the Hardened Blood Shard quest. Plan on making lots of these cores: in this pack they go into the Blood Chest, Blood Infuser, Colossal Blood Chest, Purifier, both Kineticators, both pendants, the Spirit Furnace, the Spirit Reanimator and the Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator.[2][5]

The core quest unlocks three follow-ups: the Invigorating Pendant in a quest in "?", the Blood Chest in a quest in "?", and the Blood Infuser in a quest in "?". The Blood Chest line continues to a quest in "?", which asks for a Colossal Blood Chest and Reinforced Undead Planks.[2]

The Blood Infuser quest opens two paths. The first is the Undead Sapling in a quest in "?", which leads to the Vengeance Pickaxe, the Vein Sword, and the Broom quest a quest in "?" (three Broom Part tasks plus the broom itself). The second is the promise tiers.[2]

Promise tiers

Each Promise of Tenacity quest pairs the promise with a matching acceptor, so you step up from iron to gold to diamond.[2]

  1. a quest in "?" asks for an Iron Promise Acceptor and a Promise of Tenacity I. It is the hub for the mid game.[2]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for a Gold Promise Acceptor and a Promise of Tenacity II.[2]
  3. a quest in "?" asks for a Diamond Promise Acceptor and a Promise of Tenacity III.[2]

The Promise of Productivity and Promise of Velocity quests together lead to a quest in "?", which asks for the Effortless Ring.[2]

a quest in "?" needs both the second Tenacity quest and the Vengeance Focus quest. It asks for a Spirit Furnace plus 33 Dark Blood Brick. After that, a quest in "?" asks for the Spirit Reanimator.[2]

Endgame

Finishing the third Tenacity quest unlocks the Entangled Chalice quest and the Garmonbozia quest. Garmonbozia is the final gate: it leads to the Mace of Destruction, the Primed Pendant, the Sanguinary Environmental Acc., Werewolf Flesh and Humanoid Flesh. The two flesh quests together unlock a quest in "?", the last quest in the chapter, which asks for Rejuvenated Flesh.[2]

Tip: Get your Blood Infusion Core production going early. It unlocks the Blood Infuser, and nearly every mid- and late-game quest in this chapter builds on it.[2][5]

How does EvilCraft work with other mods?

5 parts

EvilCraft ties into a lot of other mods in this pack. Blood and several EvilCraft items show up in endgame crafting recipes the pack added, in automated forge recipes, in bee and sawmill recipes, and in quest chapters for other mods. Here's where your blood magic pays off outside its own tree.[8][11][12]

Endgame crafting and the ATM Star

The pack added a recipe for the Oblivion Shard that needs Blood and a Piercing Vengeance Focus. It also needs items from other mods, including the Hydra Trophy, Snow Queen Trophy and Ur-Ghast Trophy. Getting a Vengeance Focus going early saves you trouble later.[8]

The Lightning Bomb is part of the pack's recipe for the Pulsating Black Hole. It sits next to parts from many other mods, such as the ME Quantum Ring, Stable Wormhole and Paradox Machine.[8]

The questbook's star chapter asks for EvilCraft items. It starts with a Dark Gem in a quest in "?". That quest leads to the Lightning Bomb in a quest in "?", the Dark Tank in a quest in "?", the Piercing Vengeance Focus in a quest in "?" and the Mace of Destruction in a quest in "?".[11]

Tip: Once you have an ATM Star, the pack lets you craft a Creative Blood Drop from it, Blood and a Promise of Tenacity III. This is a pack-added recipe, and a quest in "?" asks for the drop.[8][13]

Blood for the automated Hephaestus Forge

The pack adds a set of Modular Machinery Reborn machine recipes whose ids name an automated Hephaestus Forge. Every one of them uses Blood. The other inputs vary by recipe and include Forbidden Arcanus items like the Deorum Ingot, Mundabitur Dust, Quantum Injector and the prisms. If you plan to run these, set up a steady blood supply first.[8]

Sawing Undead Planks

You don't have to hand-craft your Undead Planks. The pack added sawing recipes for undead logs in both Mekanism and Productive Trees. The Mekanism version also gives Sawdust.[8]

    Blood Extractor branch

Once you have the Blood Extractor, several quests open at the same time: Spikey Claws in a quest in "?", a Hardened Blood Shard in a quest in "?", a Vengeance Ring and Vengeance Essence in a quest in "?", a Sanguinary Pedestal and Spiked Plate in a quest in "?", a Dark Power Gem in a quest in "?", and a Dark Tank in a quest in "?".[2]

The Vengeance quest leads to a quest in "?", which asks for a Vengeance Focus and a Box of Eternal Closure. The Dark Power Gem unlocks a quest in "?" for the Blood Pearl of Teleportation. Together with the Hardened Blood Shard, it also unlocks the key quest a quest in "?", which asks for a Blood Infusion Core.[2]

    After the Blood Infusion Core

    Endgame of the chapter

a quest in "?" needs both the Gold Promise quest and the Vengeance Focus quest done first. It asks for a Spirit Furnace and 33 Dark Blood Brick, and it leads to the Spirit Reanimator in a quest in "?".[2]

The Diamond Promise quest unlocks the Entangled Chalice in a quest in "?" and Garmonbozia in a quest in "?". Garmonbozia then opens the final group: Werewolf Flesh in a quest in "?", the Mace of Destruction in a quest in "?", the Primed Pendant in a quest in "?", the Sanguinary Environmental Acc. in a quest in "?", and Humanoid Flesh in a quest in "?". With both flesh quests done, you can finish a quest in "?" by getting Rejuvenated Flesh.[2]

What changed in EvilCraft between versions?

    1 part

EvilCraft has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time: it was first included in All the Mods 10 1.9 or earlier. In All the Mods 10 2.28 the pack ships EvilCraft 1.2.64, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[15]

    Pack updates

    • All the Mods 10 2.26 updated EvilCraft from 1.2.63 to 1.2.64.[16]
    • All the Mods 10 2.28 still ships EvilCraft 1.2.64, so it runs the same EvilCraft version as 2.26.[15][16]

Unverified The specific changes in EvilCraft 1.2.64, and the mod's update history before All the Mods 10 2.26, could not be confirmed because the mod's own changelogs were not available.
