Tips and Tricks
22 quests, with the items each asks for and where they come from in All the Mods 10.
- Gate Pearl
Gateways are easy ways to get Passive Mobs and Loot Rewards! \ \ Okay, maybe not easy. You'll need to Fight off Waves of Monsters. Plus you'll need an Eye of Ender or an Ender Pearl to make it. \ \ But it is worth it! \ \ Different Gates give different Rewards and Monsters.
Asks for:Gate Pearl
- Radial Menus for Keybinds
Unlike other quests in this chapter, this one does not focus on any particular items. Do you have too many keybinds, but don't have enough physical keys on your keyboard for all of them. Are you tired of constantly changing rarely used keys to other bindings? Is it too hard to remember what each key does? Allow me to introduce Keybind Bundles! Creating Bundles To create a new bundle, go to Options, then to Controls, then open the Keybinds screen and under the KeyBind Bundles category (which should be the first) click the Add key bundle button, and then enter a name for your bundle. After that, click the Edit button on the bundle. In the new screen hover over the radial menu in the middle and click on Add entry. This will open the keybinds screen again but now each keybind has a select button. Here you can select the bindings you want to add to the bundle. After selecting the bindings you may edit each entry in the radial menu and give it a custom name and item icon. Exit the edit menu by pressing escape and bind the bundle to a key. Using Bundles While in-game you can press and hold the key you assigned to bring up the radial menu. Hover and left click over an entry to trigger that keybind. It's that simple! You can also bookmark a key mapping by right clicking it. Once bookmarked, pressing the key assigned to the bundle will immediately trigger that mapping without opening the radial menu. When a key is bookmarked, the radial menu can be opened again by holding the Radial menu modifier, which is Left alt by default. The current bookmarked key will be highlighted red in the radial menu.
- Crafting... on a Stick! (Less Placing, more Crafting)
Need a portable Crafting Table? How about a portable Smithing Table? Crafting On A Stick adds portable versions of some of your favorite crafting stations! This is a must have in the early game.
- And Other Useful Items!
On this page, you'll find some useful items and info to help you on your journey!
- Ranged Pump
The Ranged Pump is so special it gets its own Mod! The Pump will collect Water Sources beneath it and replace them with Stone. It does need Energy to work though, but it's worth it, it has a huge range! The Water collected in it will need to be Piped out.
Asks for:Pump
- No more Annoying Traders!
Trapped Trader Carpets will kill any Wandering Traders that spawn near it instantly! These might be the best items in the entire pack.
- A way to get Spawn Eggs
Swabs are my favorite way of getting Spawn Eggs, you'll need to use Mob Grinding Utils for it. Simply right click a mob with the Swab then craft Chicken Feed with it, seeds, and a bucket of any kind of XP Fluid. I don't care which type of XP Fluid you use for this. Once you have that, feed a Chicken it. Unfortunately the Chicken won't survive the procedure but hey, Spawn Eggs!
Asks for:GM Chicken Feed,
Mob Swab
- Easy Villagers (Villagers, made easy)
In Vanilla, Villagers can be really frustrating to deal with. Cycling trades is not easy at all, and professions can sometimes be tough to deal with. Easy Villagers is a mod to make all of it much easier to deal with! For starters, you can pick up a villager by sneak-right clicking them. They can then be easily placed in the world, or in specific blocks from the Easy Villager mod! You can search @EasyVillagers in JEI to see blocks the mod offers!
Asks for:Villager
- Iron Jetpacks
Jetpacks are a beloved way of getting around. To start making them you'll need to start with a Wood Jetpack! This can be upgraded all the way to a Creative Jetpack. While it does have many versions each work all the same. They all can be placed in your Chestplate Slot, or Back Curio, or Curio Curio. All of them also need FE to work, you can use any Item Charger to charge them! They will use FE to fly and yes you will drop if you run out of Energy. To fly you'll need to turn on your Engine (V), then when you hold Space you'll fly up and drop when you let go. For those who don't enjoy dropping, then you can turn on Hover (Unbinded), when set on you will Fly at the same altitude; being able to go higher with (Space) and lower with (Shift). To adjust how fast you fly, change your Throttle. Decreasing it is (,) by default and increasing it is (.) by default!
Asks for:Jetpack
- Tool Belt
A quick way to switch between tools. Upgrade with belt pouches in an anvil to increase capacity.
Asks for:Tool Belt
- Simple Magnets
Don't you hate when your breaking something and the Blocks fall just out of your reach! Well worry no more for we have Magnets! Simply Right Click while holding the Magnet to turn it on. Then, all dropped Items and Blocks in a 5 Block Radius will come to you. You can also equip the Magnet in your Curios to keep using it! If you don't wish to continue using the Magnet (I find this happens near Mob Farms) then just Right Click with it again to disable it. You can also place Demagnetization Coils at your Mob Farms and other factories that involve dropped items to prevent this. It can also be upgraded to increase the range!
Asks for:Basicmagnet
- Disenchanting Methods
There's many ways to extract Enchantments from Items onto Books. This quest will focus on many of such methods. Super Factory Manager: One of the cheapest ways I can think of to disenchant your gear, with no Experience cost whatsoever. Drop your Enchanted Item and a bunch of Books on a block of Obsidian, then make a falling Anvil land on top of the Enchanted Item and the Books. Dis-Enchanting Table: Simply put an Enchanted Item in the Left Slot and a Book in the Middle Slot. Then, the Enchants will go to the Right Slot in Book form! Costs Experience. You can also use Enchanted Books instead of the Item to split up its Enchantments. Draconic Evolution Disenchanter: This one lets you choose a specific enchantment from an Enchanted Item to move to a Book. Costs Experience. EvilCraft Purifier and Blook: Uses Blood to extract enchantments from an Enchanted Item onto a Blook. Apothic Enchanting Tomes: When used in an anvil, these will extract all enchantments from the Enchanted Item. The Tome of Scrapping only extracts half of the enchantments from the Item, destroying that item in the process. The Tome of Superior Scrapping extracts all enchantments from the Item, destroying that item in the process. The Tome of Extraction extracts all enchantments from the Item, keeping the item in the process. Check out the Apothic Enchanting chapter to learn more about how to infuse these Tomes. Industrial Foregoing Enchantment Extractor: Recommended for automated disenchanting. Place an Enchanted Item and Books into the machine, and it will extract Enchantments from the Item. You can also have the enchantments be turned into Essence instead, if you prefer. Corail Tombstone Book of Disenchantment: Occasionally, Decorative Graves will have a Grave Soul roaming them. You can right click on that Grave Soul with the Book in your offhand and an Enchanted Item in your main hand, and it may strip those enchantments and return them as books. Will corrupt the Grave slightly, so be careful with this method. Actually Additions Lens of Disenchanting: These Lens go into an Atomic Reconstructor. Throw an Enchanted Item and a single Book in front of the Laser that the Atomic Reconstructor emits, and it will separate a single Enchantment from the Item onto the Book
Asks for:Lens of Disenchanting,
Tome of Extraction,
Tome of Superior Scrapping,
Tome of Scrapping,
Dis-Enchanting Table,
Disenchanter
- Multi-Piston
The Multi-Piston is a confusing but helpful little Machine made for moving Blocks! Right Click the Piston to open its GUI, there we can set the Sides, Spacing, and Speed. The Sides are the Colors of the Piston: Yellow is Up, Orange is Down, Blue is North, Green is East, Red is South, and Purple is West. You'll need to set the Colors of the Input and Output, which sides you want the Blocks to move from and to! Spacing is how many Blocks you want moved from that side, if you make it 3, it'll move 3 Blocks from one side to the other. If you set it to 30, 30 Blocks will be moved. Speed is just how quickly it moves them. It will need a Redstone Signal to actually work, and some Blocks like Chests, it can't move.
Asks for:Multi-Piston
- Functional Storage (Storage Drawers?)
Functional Storage adds Drawers that can hold several stacks of an item. These can be upgraded to hold even more stacks! This is great for items you get a lot of, like Cobblestone or Seeds!
- Charging Gadgets
The Charging Station is a very helpful Early Game Block. It is clearly used for charging Items. Either Pipe in Energy or use Furnace Fuel to make Energy in the form of FE. Then, you can put any Item that needs charging into the Right most Slot.
Asks for:Charging Station
- Early Mining
The Steam Drill, despite being from Modern Industrialization, will be your best friend for early game mining, only requiring a Forge Hammer to be able to be crafted. It is able to do a 3 by 3 mining area as well as have a toggle-able silk touch. You can toggle 3 by 3 mining by pressing the keybind "Toggle 3x3 Mining" which is default set to 'Y'. Silk Touch can be toggled by Sneak Right-Clicking the Steam Drill To fill the Steam Drill, you can hold the drill over a fuel in your inventory and Right-Click. Water can be either Right-Clicked in world or you can carry a water bucket around.
