What is AllTheOres?

1 part

All the Mods 10 4.5 ships AllTheOres version 3.1.7, and it has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[1]

In this pack, AllTheOres provides many of the shared metals, alloys and materials that other mods' questlines ask for. You'll run into its ingots, dusts, rods and blocks all over the quest book, from Bronze Ingot and Steel Ingot to Uranium Ingot, Osmium Ingot and Platinum Ingot.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

Where it shows up in your progression

Tip: Steel is the one to stockpile early. Steel Ingot shows up in Steam Age, The Electric Age, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism and the chapter_2_the_star chapter.[2][3][4][5][7]

Unverified The sources don't confirm how AllTheOres generates ores in the world, who the mod is aimed at, or whether its items count toward the ATM Star crafting path. This section leaves those out.

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

5 parts

AllTheOres supplies a lot of the metals you'll use across All the Mods 10. The quest book asks for its ingots in several chapters, starting with the Steam Age and continuing through Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Oritech and Occultism. Getting a steady supply of these metals early pays off everywhere.[2][4][5][12][13]

Know where to dig

Every AllTheOres ore shows its Y range in its tooltip, so check before you start a mine. These are the ranges for the ores you'll want first:[14]

  • Tin ore is found between Y -64 and Y 196, and zinc ore between Y -64 and Y 126.[14]
  • Nickel, silver, osmium and lead ores are all found between Y -64 and Y 56, so a single deep mine covers all of them.[14]
  • Aluminum ore is found anywhere from Y -64 to Y 320.[14]
  • Sulfur ore only goes up to Y 25, and uranium ore only up to Y 16, so dig deep for those.[14]

Step 1: Bronze

Your first AllTheOres quest item is Bronze Ingot, found in the Steam Age chapter at a quest in "?". It's an alloy, so you make it in an alloying machine rather than a regular crafting grid. Both of these recipes work in the pack:[2][15]

Step 2: Steel

Next up is Steel Ingot, which is probably the most requested AllTheOres item in the pack. The Steam Age steel quest a quest in "?" leads into a quest in "?" in The Electric Age. Mekanism asks for steel at a quest in "?", and so does a quest in "?". Later, the big Immersive Engineering multiblock quests need stacks of Steel Block.[2][3][4][5][7]

Step 3: The other alloys

The Immersive Engineering chapter has a separate quest for each of the remaining alloys. You'll need Electrum Ingot for a quest in "?", Constantan Ingot for a quest in "?", Invar Ingot for a quest in "?" and Brass Ingot for a quest in "?". Each of them has an alloy recipe, just like bronze and steel.[4][15]

Step 4: Plain metals for other mods

Tip: Once you have an Immersive Engineering Arc Furnace, the pack gives you extra ways to get ingots. It adds recipes that turn AllTheOres ores plus slag straight into ingots. It also changes the arc furnace recipes for raw materials and raw blocks. On top of that, the pack adds recipes that melt Immersive Engineering sheetmetal back into ingots.[15]

Unverified The sources don't show whether raw AllTheOres materials can be smelted in a regular furnace or blast furnace in this pack. Check the recipe viewer in-game to confirm. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does AllTheOres work?

3 parts

AllTheOres adds a big set of ores, storage blocks and processing chemicals. Its ore blocks come in five variants: a normal stone version, a deepslate version, a Nether version, an End version and an 'other' version. Every variant of the same ore shares the same height range, so once you know where one kind of ore spawns you know where all its variants spawn.[14]

Tip: You don't need to memorise the numbers below. Each ore block has a tooltip that tells you the Y range it's found in, so just hover over it in your inventory or recipe viewer.[14]

Where each ore spawns

Every ore range starts at Y -64, the bottom of the world, and ends at a different height depending on the ore. The lower the top of the range, the deeper you'll need to dig.[14]

  • Aluminum: Y -64 to Y 320, so it can turn up at almost any height.[14]
  • Sapphire: Y -64 to Y 296.[14]
  • Cinnabar, Fluorite, Ruby and Salt: Y -64 to Y 228.[14]
  • Peridot and Tin: Y -64 to Y 196.[14]
  • Zinc: Y -64 to Y 126.[14]
  • Lead, Nickel, Osmium and Silver: Y -64 to Y 56.[14]
  • Platinum: Y -64 to Y 36.[14]
  • Iridium: Y -64 to Y 32.[14]
  • Sulfur: Y -64 to Y 25.[14]
  • Uranium: Y -64 to Y 16, the deepest range of the lot.[14]

Slurry chemicals

The mod also registers chemicals for four of its metals: aluminum, iridium, platinum and uranium. Each one comes as a Dirty Slurry and a Clean Slurry, for example Dirty Iridium Slurry and Clean Iridium Slurry. The dirty and clean pairing means these are meant for an ore-processing chain where you clean the slurry before turning it into metal.[14]

Unverified Which machines process these slurries in this pack, and what they turn into, isn't shown in the available sources. Check your recipe viewer in game for the exact chain. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Storage blocks and decompression

AllTheOres has storage blocks for its metals, alloys and gems, such as Osmium Block, Bronze Block, Enderium Block and Ruby Block. There are also raw ore blocks like Raw Osmium Block and Raw Uranium Block. In this pack, each of these blocks has a compressed 1x version, and a shapeless crafting recipe turns that 1x compressed block back into the normal block.[15]

Turning a compressed Osmium Block back into a regular one

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/raw_osmium_block_1x

The same idea works for raw ore blocks

These decompress recipes cover a wide range of blocks: metals like Aluminum Block, Platinum Block and Iridium Block, alloys like Electrum Block, Signalum Block and Lumium Block, gems and minerals like Sapphire Block, Peridot Block and Salt Block, and raw blocks like Raw Tin Block and Raw Zinc Block. So if you've packed your stockpile into compressed storage, you can always unpack it when you need the regular blocks again.[15]

Unverified The available sources don't show any machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling that belong to AllTheOres itself. The mod appears to supply materials for other mods to process, but this isn't confirmed here.

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

7 parts

AllTheOres items show up as quest tasks all over this pack's quest book instead of in one place. The quests follow a clear path: you start with basic alloys like bronze and steel, move on to aluminum and the rarer metals, and finish with materials for reactors. Here's how each tier fits together, with the in-pack recipes for each step.[2][3][4][5][6][8][11]

Tier 1: Bronze and steel

Your first AllTheOres goals are in the steam_age chapter. One quest asks for a Bronze Ingot (a quest in "?") and another asks for a Steel Ingot (a quest in "?"). That steel quest also unlocks a quest in "?" in the_electric_age chapter, so steel is your bridge into the next era.[2][3]

Steel is the most-requested AllTheOres item in the pack. It is a task in the immersive_engineering, the_electric_age, mekanism and chapter_2_the_star chapters, so it's worth setting up a steady supply early.[3][4][5][7]

You can alloy steel in the Immersive Engineering Alloy Smelter or with Ender IO alloy smelting. Both recipes use iron and coal.[15]

Tier 2: The alloy set

The immersive_engineering chapter has one quest for each AllTheOres alloy, and they all share the same prerequisite. You need Electrum Ingot (a quest in "?"), Bronze Ingot (a quest in "?"), Constantan Ingot (a quest in "?"), Brass Ingot (a quest in "?") and Invar Ingot (a quest in "?"). A steel quest (a quest in "?") sits in the same chapter.[4]

Each alloy has a recipe in the Immersive Engineering Alloy Smelter, in Ender IO alloy smelting and in the Arc Furnace. Use whichever machine you've built.[15]

Tier 3: Aluminum

the_electric_age chapter walks you through aluminum as a chain of three quests. First comes Ruby Dust (a quest in "?"), then Aluminum Dust (a quest in "?"), then Aluminum Ingot (a quest in "?"). Finishing that chain unlocks another aluminum ingot quest in the rust_free_and_oiled chapter (a quest in "?").[3][10]

You can make both dusts by hand with an ore hammer. If you have an Immersive Engineering Crusher, crushing aluminum ore or raw aluminum gives Zinc Dust as well as the aluminum dust.[15]

Tier 5: Chemistry and reactors

Mekanism chemistry needs Sulfur. It's a task in a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" in the mekanism chapter, and in a quest in "?" in the mekanism_reactors chapter. That last quest leads to a quest in "?", which asks for Fluorite. You can hammer sulfur and fluorite out of their ores, and the pack also adds an Actually Additions crushing recipe for sulfur.[5][11][15]

Arc Furnace changes in this pack

The pack changed the Arc Furnace recipes that turn raw materials and raw blocks into ingots for aluminum, nickel, osmium, platinum, silver and uranium. It also added its own Arc Furnace recipes that turn ores plus slag into ingots, and recipes that recycle Immersive Engineering sheetmetal back into ingots. Check the in-game recipes rather than relying on memories of the default mod.[15]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

5 parts

AllTheOres is the metal backbone of this pack, so its ingots, blocks and dusts show up across lots of other mods. Here's how it links with Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Applied Energistics add-ons and All the Compressed, plus which quest lines ask for its items.[4][5][15]

Mekanism ore processing

AllTheOres includes its own Mekanism processing recipes, so its metals work with Mekanism's ore multiplication. Purifying turns ores, raw materials, raw blocks and shards into clumps like Aluminum Clump, Iridium Clump and Nickel Clump. Injecting turns ores, raw materials and raw blocks into shards like Aluminum Shard and Iridium Shard. Dissolution turns them into dirty slurries.[15]

Immersive Engineering sheetmetal recycling

The pack adds Arc Furnace recipes that melt Immersive Engineering sheetmetal back into AllTheOres ingots, and sheetmetal slabs back into nuggets. This works for aluminum, constantan, electrum, lead, nickel, silver, steel and uranium. So if you over-crafted Steel Sheetmetal, you can get Steel Ingot back.[15]

Applied Energistics range upgrade

The pack's own recipe for the Infinity Range Booster pulls in gears from AllTheOres. Stock up on those gears before you go for unlimited wireless range.[15]

All the Compressed

All the Compressed's 1x blocks, like Steel Block 1x or Raw Osmium Block 1x, decompress straight back into the matching AllTheOres storage blocks. This covers metals, alloys, raw blocks and gems. Salt Block also has a compress recipe listed here.[15]

Quests that use AllTheOres items

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheOres?

5 parts

This mod's metals, dusts and gems show up as quest items in a lot of chapters in the pack. Most of these quests simply ask you to obtain one item, so they tick off as you progress. Below, the quests are grouped by chapter, with the order spelled out where the quest links show it.[2][3][4][5]

Steam Age into The Electric Age

In the Steam Age chapter, a quest in "?" asks for a Bronze Ingot and a quest in "?" asks for a Steel Ingot. That steel quest unlocks a quest in "?" in The Electric Age chapter, which asks for another steel ingot. a quest in "?" in the same chapter also wants a steel ingot.[2][3]

The Electric Age also has a short aluminum chain that carries over into the Rust Free and Oiled chapter. Here's the order:[3][10]

  1. a quest in "?" asks for Ruby Dust.[3]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for Aluminum Dust.[3]
  3. a quest in "?" asks for an Aluminum Ingot.[3]
  4. a quest in "?" in the Rust Free and Oiled chapter asks for an aluminum ingot again.[3][10]

Immersive Engineering

Six alloy quests share the same prerequisite, so they open up together. They ask for Electrum Ingot (a quest in "?"), Bronze Ingot (a quest in "?"), Constantan Ingot (a quest in "?"), Brass Ingot (a quest in "?"), Invar Ingot (a quest in "?") and Steel Ingot (a quest in "?"). The steel quest also needs one additional prerequisite.[4]

a quest in "?" accepts a lava bucket, a magma block or an Uranium Block. a quest in "?" accepts a Steel Rod, Iron Rod or Aluminum Rod, as well as some Immersive Engineering items.[4]

Two bigger quests ask for full sets of Immersive Engineering building parts. a quest in "?" includes 9 Steel Block in its list. a quest in "?" includes 6 steel blocks, plus 27 reinforced blast bricks among other parts.[4]

Mekanism and Mekanism Reactors

The Mekanism chapter has four quests that use this mod's items. a quest in "?" asks for an Osmium Ingot and a quest in "?" asks for a steel ingot. a quest in "?" asks for Sulfur. a quest in "?" asks for sulfur together with five Mekanism machines.[5]

In the Mekanism Reactors chapter, a quest in "?" asks for sulfur and three Mekanism machines. It leads into a quest in "?", which asks for Fluorite alongside more machines.[11]

Uranium and reactors

Several quests ask for Uranium Ingot: a quest in "?" in Basic Power, a quest in "?" in Extreme Reactors, and a quest in "?" in chapter 2, The Star. Extreme Reactors also has a quest in "?", which wants 4 uranium ingots. The Star chapter also has a quest in "?", which asks for a steel ingot.[7][8][9]

Other chapters

Tip: Steel is the item from this mod that the quests ask for most. It's requested in the Steam Age, The Electric Age, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism and Star chapters, so it's worth getting a steady steel supply going early.[2][3][4][5][7]

What changed in AllTheOres between versions?

Here's what the sources let me confirm about how AllTheOres has moved through the pack's releases. It's a short history, because the changelogs I have only record version bumps.[1][16][17]

  • AllTheOres has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier.[1]
  • All the Mods 10 2.29 updated AllTheOres from 3.1.5 to 3.1.6.[17]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5 updated AllTheOres from 3.1.6 to 3.1.7. That's the version you get in this pack release, shipped as the NeoForge 1.21.1 build.[1][16]

Unverified The pack changelogs only list the version numbers, and no changelogs are stored for the shipped jars. What actually changed inside AllTheOres 3.1.6 and 3.1.7 (new ores, recipe changes, fixes) is unverified, so check the mod's own release notes before assuming anything.
