What is AllTheOres?

1 part

AllTheOres is the pack's shared ore layer. Instead of every tech mod shipping its own copper, silver or uranium, this mod provides one common set of ores, raw drops and ingots under the alltheores namespace, so the material you dig up works across the mods that need it.[1]

The version in this pack is AllTheOres 2.3.3-alpha for NeoForge 1.21, and it has been part of the pack since at least version 0.32, so it is baked into progression rather than being a late addition.[1]

Where it fits in progression

You will meet AllTheOres materials early, because several quest chapters ask for them directly. The Mekanism chapter opens with a quest in "?", which wants Raw Osmium, and follows it with a quest in "?" for Osmium Ingot. That is the pack's on-ramp into Mekanism machines, so osmium is worth collecting as soon as you start mining.[2]

Silver shows up on the Occultism path. a quest in "?" asks for Raw Silver alongside the vanilla raw ores, and the later a quest in "?" wants Silver Ingot as part of its ritual materials. If you are planning summoning work, keep some silver aside rather than smelting it all away.[3]

Further along, the Mekanism reactors chapter uses AllTheOres uranium: a quest in "?" asks for Uranium Ingot together with yellow cake uranium, which puts the mod squarely on the road to fission power.[4]

Tip: Because these quests accept AllTheOres items specifically, check what you are holding before you hand anything in; a same-named ingot from another mod is not necessarily the one the task is looking for.[2][3][4]

AllTheOres itself is not on the ATM Star quest path, so you do not need to complete anything from this mod to finish the pack's main goal. You will still pass through it constantly, since the tech chapters that do lead toward endgame gear lean on its osmium and uranium.[2][4]

Unverified World generation details such as ore spawn heights and vein sizes, and any pack-specific config changes to them, are not covered by the sources available for this section.

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

4 parts

AllTheOres fills out the pack's metal list and, just as importantly, gives you a full hand-crafting chain: dusts, plates, rods, gears, nuggets and storage blocks, all from the crafting grid. That means you can start using it on day one, long before you own a single machine.[5]

Step 1: build an ore hammer

The ore hammer is the key to almost everything else in this mod, and the cheapest one is the Copper Ore Hammer. Make it as soon as you have copper to spare.[5]

Plate, rod and dust recipes all accept any item tagged as an ore hammer, so a single hammer covers every metal in the mod. You do not need a separate tool per material.[5]

The pattern is the same for every metal's plate.

Step 2: smelt the new ores you find

Silver, osmium and uranium all have full smelting and blasting paths in the pack. You can throw the ore block, its deepslate variant, or the raw drop straight into a furnace or blast furnace and get an ingot, so there is nothing special to learn here.[5]

Tip: Hang onto early stacks of these. The quest book wants Raw Silver for a quest in "?" and a Silver Ingot for a quest in "?", plus Raw Osmium for a quest in "?" and an Osmium Ingot for a quest in "?". Much later, a quest in "?" asks for an Uranium Ingot.[2][3][4]

Step 3: hand-blend your first alloys

Once the hammer is in your inventory you can make alloy dusts without any machinery. Crush copper into dust first, then blend that dust with the matching partner dust to get Bronze Dust, Brass Dust or Constantan Dust.[5]

Step 4: upgrade the hammer

When bronze starts flowing, trade up to the Bronze Ore Hammer. It slots into the same ore hammer tag, so every plate, rod and dust recipe keeps working.[5]

How does AllTheOres work?

6 parts

AllTheOres in this pack is a materials mod, not a machine mod: its job is to give every metal a complete, consistent set of forms and to make the conversions between them work with whatever other mods you have installed. Once you understand the two systems behind it (common tags and the ore hammer) you can read any of its recipes at a glance.[5]

Everything runs on common tags

Almost none of the recipes ask for a specific item. Instead they accept anything in a shared tag, so an ingot from another mod satisfies the same recipe as the one from this mod. That is why you rarely end up with duplicate, incompatible metals in your storage system.[5]

  • Metal forms are matched through tags such as the ingot, nugget, dust, raw material and storage block tags for each metal, so equivalents from other mods slot straight in.[5]
  • Gem-style materials use the gem tag instead, which is how Cinnabar and Cinnabar Block convert back and forth.[5]
  • Even the vanilla side is tag-driven: gear recipes take iron nuggets through the iron nugget tag rather than the vanilla item directly.[5]
  • Ore hammers are matched through their own hammer tag, so any hammer that belongs to it can drive every hammer recipe.[5]

The nugget, ingot and block ladder

Each metal has a full compression ladder, and it runs in both directions. Nuggets pack up into an ingot, ingots pack up into a storage block, and shapeless recipes unpack blocks back into ingots and ingots back into nuggets. That makes storage blocks a safe way to keep bulk metal without losing anything on the way back out.[5]

Crafting Shapeless

  • any aluminum ingot

Recipe id: alltheores:aluminum_nugget_from_ingot

Ingots also break down into nuggets, with Aluminum Ingot recraftable from nuggets.

The same pattern repeats for the alloys: Bronze Block and Constantan Block both have block-to-ingot recipes alongside their ingot-to-nugget and nugget-to-ingot steps, and Brass Block and Brass Ingot follow the same shape.[5]

Ore hammers: your early-game processing

The ore hammer is the one tool the mod really cares about, and it is your no-power alternative to a crushing machine. Hammers belong to a shared hammer tag, so a single Bronze Ore Hammer is enough to satisfy every hammer recipe in the mod, you do not need a hammer per metal.[5]

Hammers cover three jobs. They crush raw ore drops into dust, they crush finished ingots back into dust when you need dust for an alloy, and they are what turns ingots into plates and rods. All of it happens in a normal crafting table.[5]

Unverified The recipe data does not say whether the ore hammer is consumed, takes durability damage or survives the craft unchanged, so check the hammer's tooltip in game before you rely on one.

Hand-mixed alloys

Alloying here is a shapeless dust mix rather than a multiblock or an alloy smelter. Copper Dust is the shared base for the alloy dusts, and the partner dust is matched by tag, so dust from any mod works. That means brass, bronze and constantan are all available with nothing but a hammer and a crafting table.[5]

Tip: Because the alloy recipes want dust, it is worth keeping a hammer in your crafting grid's reach even after you have automated smelting, you can hammer spare ingots straight back into dust whenever an alloy recipe comes up short.[5]

Unverified Furnace, blast furnace or machine recipes that smelt these alloy dusts into ingots are not shown in the recipe data available here; the dump lists many more recipes that were not included, so look the dust up in your recipe viewer in game to see how it smelts. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Plates, rods and gears

Beyond the basic forms, each metal gets three crafting components that other mods commonly ask for: plates, rods and gears. Plates and rods are hammer work, while gears combine the metal with iron nuggets. All three are plain crafting table recipes, which is handy because it means they automate with any simple crafting automation rather than needing a dedicated press.[5]

The same three recipes exist for the alloys, giving you Brass Plate, Brass Rod and Brass Gear, the matching bronze set including Bronze Plate, and the constantan set with Constantan Plate and Constantan Gear.[5]

Automating it

Since the recipes shown for this mod are ordinary shaped and shapeless crafting recipes, the practical automation route is a crafting automation setup from another mod feeding raw materials, ingots and nuggets in by tag. There is nothing in the mod's own recipes that requires power, fluids or a multiblock.[5]

Unverified Whether this mod ships its own machines, ore processing multiblocks or power and fluid handling of any kind could not be confirmed from the data available, and no config file for it exists in the pack, so nothing here is tunable through mod options.

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

4 parts

In the quest sources for this pack, AllTheOres items show up as tasks inside other mods' chapters. The mod isn't on the ATM Star quest path. So here is how the ore, ingot and alloy items fit together, with the quest tasks that touch them.[2][3][4]

Raw ores to ingots

Osmium, silver and uranium follow the same pattern. The ore, its slate (deepslate) variant and its raw form can each be smelted or blasted into an ingot. Osmium and uranium dust can be cooked into ingots too. For example, Raw Osmium cooks into Osmium Ingot, and Raw Uranium cooks into Uranium Ingot.[5]

Blasting works too, using the matching blasting recipe.

The Mekanism chapter touches osmium. a quest in "?" asks for raw osmium, and a quest in "?" follows it by asking for an osmium ingot.[2]

Silver comes in through the Occultism chapter. a quest in "?" lists Raw Silver among its tasks, and a quest in "?" lists a Silver Ingot.[3]

Uranium shows up in the Mekanism reactors chapter. a quest in "?" has a Uranium Ingot task alongside yellow cake.[4]

Tip: Silver dust can also be turned into an ingot by smelting or blasting. If you end up with dust from processing, you don't need a different route.[5]

Ore hammers

The mod has the Copper Ore Hammer and the Bronze Ore Hammer. A hammer crushes raw ore or ingots into dust in a crafting grid, for example Copper Dust from raw copper. Hammers are also needed for plates and rods.[5]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

4 parts

AllTheOres does not live in a bubble in this pack. Its metals show up in Mekanism processing chains, Modern Industrialization machines, a few crafting recipes for other mods' gear, and several quest chapters. Here is where those links are.[2][3][4][5]

Mekanism ore processing

The dump lists Mekanism recipes for aluminum, iridium, nickel, platinum, silver and zinc, all marked as mod recipes. Each metal gets the same set of processing steps, and they accept the ore, the raw ore or the raw block.[5]

Modern Industrialization

The pack adds an electrolyzer recipe that takes Dirty Aluminum Dust and gives you Aluminum Dust, Oxygen and Titanium Tiny Dust.[5]

Electrolyzer (modern_industrialization)

The pack also adds Modern Industrialization quarry recipes, one per drill type. Several AllTheOres ores are among the outputs, mixed in with vanilla and other mods' ores.[5]

Gears in other mods' recipes

The pack adds crafting recipes that use AllTheOres gears. You craft the Infinity Range Booster from a Wireless Booster, an Enderium Gear, a Lumium Gear and a netherite ingot.[5]

The Explorer's Compass and the Building Gadget are also pack recipes that rely on a gear from this mod: the Enderium Gear for the compass and the Diamond Gear for the gadget.[5]

Quests that use AllTheOres items

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheOres?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.38 guide

AllTheOres shows up in the Mekanism, Occultism and Mekanism Reactors quest chapters of the pack. In every case the ores are just part of a bigger task list, since the quests ask you to hand in AllTheOres items next to items from other mods. None of these quests have titles in the pack files, so they are listed by their IDs.[6][7][8]

Mekanism chapter

This is the simplest one, a short chain. Quest a quest in "?" asks you to submit Raw Osmium. Once that is done, a quest in "?" unlocks and asks for an Osmium Ingot. In short: mine the ore first, then smelt it.[6]

Occultism chapter

This chapter has quests that use AllTheOres items. Each one lists several tasks, so you need to collect everything on the list.[7]

  • a quest in "?" asks for the Occultism bound foliot book of binding, raw iron, raw gold, raw copper and Raw Silver. It unlocks only after several earlier quests in the chapter are done.[7]
  • a quest in "?" asks for soul sand, a diamond, a copper ingot, a Silver Ingot and the Occultism bound djinni book of binding. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the chapter.[7]

Raw silver in the first quest and a silver ingot in the second means you will want a silver supply running before you get far into this chapter. Neither of these quests lists the other as a prerequisite, so each follows its own earlier quests.[7]

Mekanism Reactors chapter

Quest a quest in "?" asks for an Uranium Ingot and Mekanism's uranium yellow cake. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter.[8]

Suggested order

  1. Start with the Mekanism chapter: a quest in "?" for raw osmium, then a quest in "?" for the ingot.[6]
  2. Work through the Occultism chapter as the earlier quests unlock a quest in "?" and a quest in "?", and have silver ready.[7]
  3. Reach a quest in "?" in the Mekanism Reactors chapter once its earlier quest is complete, with a uranium ingot in hand.[8]
