What is Productive Metalworks?
3 parts
Productive Metalworks is the metal-casting mod in this pack. It adds a multiblock Foundry that melts metal into liquid, plus Casting Tables and Basins that turn that liquid into items. This pack includes version 1.21.1-1.15.1, and the mod was already here by All the Mods 10 2.32.[1][2]
Who it's for
If you use Silent Gear, this mod is for you. The pack's quest says it takes the best of both worlds between Silent Gear and Tinker's Construct. Productive Metalworks changes how you obtain Silent Gear items: instead of Blueprints, you now need Casts and a Foundry.[2]
How it fits into progression
The quest chain starts with "Silent Gear and Productive Metalworks" quest, where you make Fire Clay to begin building the Foundry. From there, the quests walk you through each part of the multiblock.[2]
- Black Foundry Controller: the heart of the Foundry. You need at least one, and its GUI shows the liquids inside and lets you put items in and take them out.[2]
- Black Foundry Tank: adds liquids to the Foundry, mostly fuel. Lava appears to be one of the only ways to fuel it.[2]
- Black Foundry Drain: lets you extract the liquid metal. Connect a Foundry Tap to it and right-click the Tap to drain.[2]
- Liquid Heating Coil: forms the floor and heats the Foundry. The walls use either Black Foundry Window or Black Fire Bricks.[2]
The Foundry needs 4 walls and a floor, but the corners can stay empty. It can be as small as 1x1 inside, though a bigger one has more space. The Controller tells you where a block is missing. You'll know it's finished when the Controller lights up like a Furnace and the coils turn orange.[2]
Casting
Put the Tap on the Drain and place a block underneath. A Casting Basin turns about 900mB of liquid metal into a full metal block. The Casting Table is what you use to make casts. The quests cover these casts: Ingot Cast, Nugget Cast, Plate Cast, Gear Cast, Rod Cast and Gem Cast.[2]
Unverified The available sources don't show where this mod sits in the ATM Star path, and no download-page information is available for it.
How do you get started with Productive Metalworks?
5 parts
In this pack, Productive Metalworks replaces the Blueprint step of Silent Gear. Instead of Blueprints, you use Casts and a Foundry to get your Silent Gear items. So your first goal is to build a Foundry, and everything starts with Fire Clay.[2]
Fire Clay and Fire Bricks
The questline begins at "Silent Gear and Productive Metalworks" quest, which asks you for Fire Clay. Here is the recipe:[2][3]
Nearly every Foundry part below is crafted from Fire Brick, so you will want a good stack of them.[3]
The Foundry core parts
The Controller is the heart of the Foundry, and every Foundry needs at least one. Right-click it to open its GUI, where you can see the liquids inside and put items in or take them out. See "Foundry Controller" quest.[2]

Next, make a Foundry Tank. Tanks hold the fuel for your Foundry, and the quest notes that lava is one of the main ways to fuel it. See "Foundry Tanks" quest. You can right-click a bucket into the tank, or supply fuel through a pipe.[2][4]

Then make a Foundry Drain. Liquid metal is too hot for your hands or buckets, so the Drain is how you get it out. The Foundry needs at least one. See "Foundry Drains" quest.[2][4]

Heating Coils and walls
The floor of the Foundry must be made of Liquid Heating Coil. They heat the Foundry up.[2][4]

- The Foundry needs 4 walls and a floor. The corners can stay empty.[2]
- The quest says the inside can be as small as 1x1, but it recommends going bigger, since a larger Foundry has more space. The in-game Ponder scene gives the minimum size as 3x3x2, with at least a single air block inside.[2][4]
- If a block is missing, the Controller tells you where.[2]
- You will know it is complete when the Controller lights up like a Furnace and the Liquid Heating Coils turn orange.[2]
Getting metal out and casting
Once the Foundry is running, you can drop items in or add them through the Controller GUI, and they melt into liquid after a while. To pull the liquid out, place a Foundry Tap on the Drain, then right-click the Tap. Put a casting block underneath to catch the metal.[2][4]

Your first Casts
The pack's quest chapter has a Cast quest for each of these: Ingot Cast, Nugget Cast, Gem Cast, Rod Cast, Plate Cast and Gear Cast. You make each one by pouring liquid steel over the matching item on a Casting Table. For example, the Ingot Cast uses an ingot.[2][3][4]

How does Productive Metalworks work?
6 parts
Productive Metalworks is built around one big idea: the Foundry. You build it as a multiblock, fuel it, drop items in to melt them, and then pour the resulting liquid metal into casting blocks. The sources I have explain this workflow well, so that's what this section covers.[4]
Building the Foundry
The minimum size is 3x3x2. It needs at least one air block inside the structure, and the corners are optional, so you can skip them if you're short on bricks.[4]
The bottom layer has to be made of Heating Coils. On top of that, the structure needs a Foundry Controller, a Foundry Tank and at least one Foundry Drain.[4]
- Controller: this is where you open the GUI to add items. It is also where upgrades are installed.[4]
- Tank: holds the fuel for the Foundry.[4]
- Drain: where the molten fluid comes out. You need at least one.[4]
The pack has a recipe for the black variant of the controller. The other colors are made by recoloring, which I cover below.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:crafting/black_foundry_controller
Fueling: liquid or power
The Foundry only works when there is fuel inside a Foundry Tank. You can right-click a bucket into the tank, or feed fuel in through a pipe.[4]
If you'd rather use energy, swap the Fluid Heating Coils for Powered Heating Coils. High Powered Heating Coils create even more heat. When you go powered, you must also replace the Foundry Tank with a Foundry Capacitor, and you supply energy through a cable attached to the capacitor.[4]
Smelting and alloying
You can add items through the controller GUI, or just drop them into the Foundry. After some time they turn into liquid.[4]
If a second liquid is present, some of it may undergo an alloying reaction. The example the mod gives is 2/3 Iron and 1/3 Nickel turning into Invar. You can also add fluids by hand by right-clicking a drain with a bucket.[4]
Controller upgrades
- Stability upgrade: disables fluid alloying in the Foundry. Use it when you want your metals to stay separate.[4]
- Time upgrade: speeds up melting and alloying. You can install multiple of them.[4]
- Second-tier time upgrade: described as twice as good as the other time upgrade.[4]
Casting
To turn fluid into blocks, you use a Casting Basin. Right-click a Foundry Tap attached to a drain to extract the fluid. The basin slowly cools the fluid into a block. Right-click the basin to take the result out, or empty it with a pipe or a hopper.[4]
A Casting Table turns fluids into different casts. You add a cast by right-clicking the table with the item in hand. You can also pour liquids over items placed in a Casting Table or Basin to create new items.[4]
Colors and recoloring
Foundry parts come in several colors, and the pack has dye recipes for them. Combine a dye with any matching part (fire bricks, controllers, drains, tanks, windows or capacitors) to get that color. Black, blue and brown are all confirmed in the sources I have. For example, this recipe recolors a controller to black.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any foundry controller

Recipe id: productivemetalworks:crafting/black_foundry_controller_from_dye
The Black Foundry Drain and the Black Foundry Tank have their own base recipes too, built from the Fire Brick. The tank and the Black Foundry Window also use colorless glass.[3]
Unverified The sources don't give heating coil recipes, fuel burn rates, melting speeds, fluid capacities or energy use per tick. The pack has no config files for this mod either, so any pack-specific tuning of the Foundry is unconfirmed. The in-game guide also has a section on gear parts, casts and grading, but its text isn't available to me, so I can't describe how it works.
How do you progress through Productive Metalworks?
6 parts
In this pack, Productive Metalworks is tied to Silent Gear. The quest line explains that you no longer get Silent Gear items with Blueprints. You now need Casts and a Foundry. All of these quests sit in the pack's Silent Gear quest chapter, so here's the path step by step.[2]
Step 1: Fire Clay
The path starts with the quest "Silent Gear and Productive Metalworks" quest, and its task is Fire Clay. The Controller, Drain and Tank quests all come after it.[2]
Step 2: Controller, Drains and Tanks
Three quests follow the first one. Each asks for the black version of a Foundry part. The colored variants are covered further down.[2]
- "Foundry Controller" quest wants the Black Foundry Controller. It is the heart of the Foundry, and every Foundry needs at least one. Open its GUI to see the liquid amounts inside and to put items in or take them out.[2]
- "Foundry Drains" quest wants the Black Foundry Drain. You pull liquid metal out through the Drain by connecting a Foundry Tap to it and right-clicking the Tap. Viewing the Drain also shows the liquid amounts in the Foundry.[2]
- "Foundry Tanks" quest wants the Black Foundry Tank. Tanks hold the liquids you feed in, mostly fuel. The quest says lava appears to be one of the only ways to fuel the Foundry.[2]

Step 3: Building the Foundry
"Building the Foundry" quest unlocks once you have finished the first quest and the Controller, Drain and Tank quests. It asks for Liquid Heating Coil and either Black Foundry Window or Black Fire Bricks. The Coils form the floor and heat the Foundry. Windows or Fire Bricks make up the walls.[2]

The structure only needs 4 walls and a floor. The corners can stay empty, so you don't have to build a frame. If a block is missing, the Controller tells you where. The inside can be as small as 1x1, but the quest recommends going bigger because a bigger Foundry has more space in it. You'll know it worked when the Controller lights up like a Furnace and the Coils turn orange.[2]
Step 4: Casting
"Casting Items" quest comes after the Foundry is built. Its tasks are the Casting Table, the Casting Basin and the Foundry Tap. Place the Tap on the Drain, then put a casting block underneath so the liquid metal drains into it. The Basin (the quest text calls it the Casting Bin) turns about 900mB of liquid metal into a full metal block. The Table is what you need for making Casts.[2]

Step 5: The Casts
The last stretch is a set of quests that follow a Casts quest. Each one asks for a single cast: Ingot Cast, Nugget Cast, Gem Cast, Rod Cast, Plate Cast and Gear Cast.[2]
The pack changed some of these recipes. The gear, plate and rod cast recipes are marked as changed by the pack, while the gem, ingot and nugget cast recipes are the mod's own. There is also a second Ingot Cast recipe that starts from a plain brick.[3]

Colored variants
Fire bricks, windows, tanks, drains, controllers and capacitors all have dye recipes, so you can recolor them into variants such as Blue Fire Bricks or Cyan Foundry Window. The quests ask for the black versions, but the dye recipes are in the pack's recipe list.[3]
How does Productive Metalworks work with other mods?
5 parts
Productive Metalworks doesn't sit on its own in this pack. The pack ships recipes that let the foundry melt and cast materials from several other mods, so one foundry can handle most of your metal processing. The recipes below are the ones the pack provides or changes.[3]
Oritech
Oritech has the deepest connection. Its Copper, Gold, Iron, Nickel and Platinum materials can all be melted into the matching Productive Metalworks molten metal. That covers Copper Gem, Gold Gem, Iron Gem, Nickel Gem and Platinum Gem. It also covers the small clumps such as Small Iron Clump and the small dusts such as Small Copper Dust. So even leftover bits of Oritech processing can go straight into the foundry.[3]
The foundry also makes Oritech's own materials. You can alloy molten metals into Molten Adamant, Molten Biosteel, Molten Duratium and Molten Energite using these alloying recipes:[3]
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: oritech:compat/productivemetalworks/alloying/adamant

Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: oritech:compat/productivemetalworks/alloying/duratium
Fluid Alloying (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: oritech:compat/productivemetalworks/alloying/energite
Each of those can then be cast into its ingot with an Ingot Cast: Adamant Ingot, Biosteel Ingot, Duratium Ingot and Energite Ingot. Molten Fluxite and Biofuel can be cast with a Gem Cast into Fluxite and Biomass.[3]
The same set of recipes also covers some All the Ores metals. You can cast Electrum, Nickel, Platinum and Steel into ingots, for example Steel Ingot and Electrum Ingot. Nickel and Platinum can also be cast into nuggets. Electrum, Nickel and Steel can be cast into full blocks such as Steel Block.[3]
Allthemodium
The three Allthemodium metals, Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium, can be cast in the foundry. Each has a casting recipe for its ingot, nugget, plate, rod and gear, using the matching cast. For example, Molten Vibranium becomes Vibranium Plate with a Plate Cast. The pack changes all of these recipes.[3]
Allthemodium also feeds back into the foundry itself. The top heating coil upgrade uses Soul Lava in the pack:[3]
Block Casting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/atm/high_powered_heating_coil
Create and All the Ores
The pack adds foundry casting for a few items tied to Create. Any molten brass can be cast into Brass Ingot, Brass Nugget or Brass Plate. Any molten copper can be cast into Copper Nugget. Create's Chocolate can also be cast with an Ingot Cast into a Bar of Chocolate, which is a fun one to try.[3]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Recipe id: productivemetalworks:casting/create/bar_of_chocolate
Dyenamics and Friends
Foundry Capacitors come in many dyed colors, and the pack adds a casting recipe for each one. They use the matching colored fire bricks together with Molten Redstone. Examples are Amber Foundry Capacitor and Wine Foundry Capacitor.[3]
Silent Gear
The questbook sets Productive Metalworks up as the way to get Silent Gear items in this pack. Instead of blueprints, you use casts and a foundry. The chapter starts with "Silent Gear and Productive Metalworks" quest, where you craft Fire Clay, and then walks you through the foundry parts. Those parts include the "Foundry Controller" quest, "Foundry Drains" quest and "Foundry Tanks" quest, followed by "Building the Foundry" quest and "Casting Items" quest.[2]
Unverified The in-game guide has a Silent Gear section covering parts, casts and grading, but its text isn't available here, so the exact Silent Gear casting recipes aren't covered on this page.
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Productive Metalworks?
4 parts
All of this mod's quests sit in a single chapter, Silent Gear. The pack uses Productive Metalworks as the way to get Silent Gear items. The first quest says you'll need Casts and a Foundry instead of Blueprints.[2]
Starting the Foundry
The chapter opens with "Silent Gear and Productive Metalworks" quest, which asks you for Fire Clay. Everything else in the Foundry line unlocks after it.[2]
Three quests unlock right after that opener, and you can do them in any order. Each one asks you to get a single Foundry part:[2]
- "Foundry Controller" quest wants the Black Foundry Controller. The quest calls it the heart of the Foundry, and every Foundry needs at least one. Its GUI shows the liquids inside, and you can put items in and take them out through it.[2]
- "Foundry Drains" quest wants the Black Foundry Drain. Liquid metal is too hot for your hands or buckets, so you connect a Foundry Tap to the Drain and right-click the Tap to pour it out. Viewing the Drain also shows how much liquid is in the Foundry.[2]
- "Foundry Tanks" quest wants the Black Foundry Tank. Tanks are for putting liquids into the Foundry, mostly fuel. The quest says lava appears to be one of the only ways to fuel it.[2]
Building the Foundry
"Building the Foundry" quest unlocks once you've finished the opener, the Drain, the Controller and the Tank quests. It asks for the Liquid Heating Coil, plus either the Black Foundry Window or Black Fire Bricks.[2]
The coils form the floor and heat the Foundry. The windows or bricks make up the walls. You don't need to build the frame, so every corner can stay empty, but the Foundry must have 4 walls and a floor. The Controller tells you where a block is missing. The inside can be as small as 1x1, though the quest recommends going bigger because a bigger Foundry holds more.[2]
Getting the metal out
"Casting Items" quest comes after the Foundry build. It asks for the Casting Table, the Casting Basin and the Foundry Tap. Place the Tap on the Drain, then put a casting block underneath to catch the liquid metal. The quest text says the basin turns about 900mB of liquid metal into a full metal block. It also says the Casting Table is what you need for the next step.[2]
Casts
Six more quests each ask you to get one cast. They are all listed as coming after a quest called Casts, which isn't among the sources I was given. They are untitled, so they show up by ID:[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear": Ingot Cast[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear": Nugget Cast[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear": Gem Cast[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear": Plate Cast[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear": Rod Cast[2]
- a quest in "Silent Gear": Gear Cast[2]
Unverified The Casts quest that these six cast quests follow isn't in the sources, so I can't say what it asks for or how it connects to Casting Items.
