What is AllTheOres?

1 part

All the Mods 10 4.0 ships with AllTheOres version 3.1.6, and it has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier. It's one of those mods you'll interact with constantly without always noticing, because its materials pop up all over the questbook.[1]

If you're following the quests, this mod is for you. Its items, like Steel Ingot, Uranium Ingot, Sulfur and Raw Silver, are the shared materials that tech and magic chapters ask you to bring in.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

Where it shows up in your progression

Unverified Which ores AllTheOres adds to world generation, where they spawn, and how they are processed isn't covered by the pack data available here.

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

6 parts

AllTheOres supplies a lot of the metals and materials that the rest of this pack builds on. Its items appear as quest tasks across many chapters, and the one you'll see most is Steel Ingot. It's a task in a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". Here's a sensible order for your first AllTheOres items.[2][3][7][9]

Know where to dig

Every AllTheOres ore has a tooltip that shows the Y range where it generates. The Nether, End and other variants of each ore use the same range. Here are the ranges for the ores you'll want early on:[10]

  • Tin: Y -64 to Y 196.[10]
  • Zinc: Y -64 to Y 126.[10]
  • Silver, nickel, lead and osmium: Y -64 to Y 56.[10]
  • Sulfur: Y -64 to Y 25.[10]
  • Uranium: Y -64 to Y 16, so plan on digging deep.[10]
  • Aluminum: Y -64 to Y 320.[10]
Tip: Keep some Raw Silver instead of smelting all of it. The Occultism quest a quest in "?" asks for one, together with raw iron, raw gold and raw copper.[6]

Step 1: Get an ore hammer

Several of the most useful early crafting-table recipes accept any ore hammer. With a hammer you can make rods like Iron Rod by hand, and you can turn sulfur and fluorite ores straight into Sulfur and Fluorite.[11]

Unverified The recipe for the ore hammer itself isn't in the sources for this section, so check it in JEI. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

That quest is a quest in "?". It accepts an Iron Rod, a Steel Rod or an Aluminum Rod, so the iron rod is the quickest way to clear it. Later, Immersive Engineering's metal press can also make these rods.[2][11]

Step 2: Make steel

Steel unlocks the most quests, so it's your first real alloy target. You can make it in Immersive Engineering's alloy recipe or in Ender IO's alloy smelting. Use whichever machine you reach first.[2][3][7][9][11]

Keep going with steel. The Immersive Engineering multiblock quest a quest in "?" asks for 9 Steel Block, and a quest in "?" asks for 6 more.[2]

Step 3: The other alloys

Once your alloy setup is running, work through the other alloys. Each one has its own quest in the Immersive Engineering chapter, and each can be made with the same two alloying methods as steel.[2][11]

Tip: If you have bronze, brass or constantan dust, you can also smelt it in a furnace or blast furnace. Look up the dust smelting recipes in JEI.[11]

Step 4: Sulfur and fluorite

Sulfur is a task in the Mekanism quests a quest in "?" and a quest in "?", and in a quest in "?" in the Mekanism reactors chapter. That quest leads into a quest in "?", which needs Fluorite. The hammer recipes are the easy way to get both early on.[3][5][11]

Looking ahead

Start saving osmium and uranium. Osmium Ingot is a Mekanism quest task in a quest in "?". Uranium Ingot shows up in a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?", and Extreme Reactors quest a quest in "?" asks for 4 of them.[3][4][8][9]

Watch out: This pack changed the Immersive Engineering arc furnace recipes that turn raw osmium and raw uranium into ingots. Check JEI for the in-pack versions and don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[11]

How does AllTheOres work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

AllTheOres adds a big set of ores, storage blocks and processing chemicals. Its ore blocks come in five variants: a normal stone version, a deepslate version, a Nether version, an End version and an 'other' version. Every variant of the same ore shares the same height range, so once you know where one kind of ore spawns you know where all its variants spawn.[10]

Tip: You don't need to memorise the numbers below. Each ore block has a tooltip that tells you the Y range it's found in, so just hover over it in your inventory or recipe viewer.[10]

Where each ore spawns

Every ore range starts at Y -64, the bottom of the world, and ends at a different height depending on the ore. The lower the top of the range, the deeper you'll need to dig.[10]

  • Aluminum: Y -64 to Y 320, so it can turn up at almost any height.[10]
  • Sapphire: Y -64 to Y 296.[10]
  • Cinnabar, Fluorite, Ruby and Salt: Y -64 to Y 228.[10]
  • Peridot and Tin: Y -64 to Y 196.[10]
  • Zinc: Y -64 to Y 126.[10]
  • Lead, Nickel, Osmium and Silver: Y -64 to Y 56.[10]
  • Platinum: Y -64 to Y 36.[10]
  • Iridium: Y -64 to Y 32.[10]
  • Sulfur: Y -64 to Y 25.[10]
  • Uranium: Y -64 to Y 16, the deepest range of the lot.[10]

Slurry chemicals

The mod also registers chemicals for four of its metals: aluminum, iridium, platinum and uranium. Each one comes as a Dirty Slurry and a Clean Slurry, for example Dirty Iridium Slurry and Clean Iridium Slurry. The dirty and clean pairing means these are meant for an ore-processing chain where you clean the slurry before turning it into metal.[10]

Unverified Which machines process these slurries in this pack, and what they turn into, isn't shown in the available sources. Check your recipe viewer in game for the exact chain. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Storage blocks and decompression

AllTheOres has storage blocks for its metals, alloys and gems, such as Osmium Block, Bronze Block, Enderium Block and Ruby Block. There are also raw ore blocks like Raw Osmium Block and Raw Uranium Block. In this pack, each of these blocks has a compressed 1x version, and a shapeless crafting recipe turns that 1x compressed block back into the normal block.[12]

Turning a compressed Osmium Block back into a regular one

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/raw_osmium_block_1x

The same idea works for raw ore blocks

These decompress recipes cover a wide range of blocks: metals like Aluminum Block, Platinum Block and Iridium Block, alloys like Electrum Block, Signalum Block and Lumium Block, gems and minerals like Sapphire Block, Peridot Block and Salt Block, and raw blocks like Raw Tin Block and Raw Zinc Block. So if you've packed your stockpile into compressed storage, you can always unpack it when you need the regular blocks again.[12]

Unverified The available sources don't show any machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling that belong to AllTheOres itself. The mod appears to supply materials for other mods to process, but this isn't confirmed here.

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

6 parts

AllTheOres doesn't have a questline of its own in this pack. Instead, its ingots, gems and blocks show up as quest tasks across other mods' chapters: Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Mekanism reactors, Extreme Reactors, basic power, Occultism and the steam age. The best way to follow its progression is to track which materials each stage asks for and which machines can make them.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

Early game: raw ores and hand processing

Your first AllTheOres quest item might be Raw Silver. The Occultism quest a quest in "?" asks for it together with vanilla raw iron, gold and copper. An Ender IO SAG mill recipe can also give you raw silver from silver ore.[6][11]

Before you have machines, you can still get Sulfur, Fluorite and rods like Iron Rod with simple shapeless and shaped crafting recipes that use an ore hammer. Sulfur ore can also go straight into a furnace or blast furnace.[11]

The alloy tier

The Immersive Engineering chapter asks for a whole set of alloys: Bronze Ingot in a quest in "?", Brass Ingot in a quest in "?", Constantan Ingot in a quest in "?", Electrum Ingot in a quest in "?" and Invar Ingot in a quest in "?". All five share the same prerequisite quest, so they unlock together. Steel Ingot in a quest in "?" shares that prerequisite but also needs one more.[2]

Every one of these alloys has recipes in the Immersive Engineering alloy smelter, the Ender IO alloy smelter and the Immersive Engineering arc furnace. Bronze, brass and constantan dusts can also be smelted or blasted into ingots.[11]

Mekanism tier: osmium, sulfur and fluorite

Mekanism asks for Osmium Ingot in a quest in "?". You can smelt or blast osmium ore, raw osmium or osmium dust. The pack also changed Create's osmium clump recipes so they give the AllTheOres ingot.[3][11]

Sulfur appears in a quest in "?" and in the chemical machines quest a quest in "?". On the reactor path, a quest in "?" asks for sulfur and leads into a quest in "?", which needs Fluorite and a chemical dissolution chamber.[3][5]

Sulfur has plenty of routes: Mekanism enriching, the Immersive Engineering crusher, the Ender IO SAG mill, smelting, and an Actually Additions crushing recipe added by the pack. Fluorite comes from the crusher, the SAG mill or Actually Additions crushing.[11]

Uranium and power

Uranium Ingot is where power generation comes in. It's needed for the basic power quest a quest in "?", for a quest in "?", and for the Extreme Reactors quests a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". The second of those asks for 4 ingots. In the Immersive Engineering chapter, a quest in "?" also accepts a Uranium Block instead of a lava bucket or magma block.[2][4][8][9]

Tip: This pack changed the Extreme Reactors yellorium blasting and storage recipes so they produce AllTheOres Uranium Ingots and Uranium Blocks. Create's uranium clump recipes were changed the same way.[11]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

AllTheOres is the metal backbone of this pack, so its ingots, blocks and dusts show up across lots of other mods. Here's how it links with Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Applied Energistics add-ons and All the Compressed, plus which quest lines ask for its items.[12][13][14]

Mekanism ore processing

AllTheOres includes its own Mekanism processing recipes, so its metals work with Mekanism's ore multiplication. Purifying turns ores, raw materials, raw blocks and shards into clumps like Aluminum Clump, Iridium Clump and Nickel Clump. Injecting turns ores, raw materials and raw blocks into shards like Aluminum Shard and Iridium Shard. Dissolution turns them into dirty slurries.[12]

Immersive Engineering sheetmetal recycling

The pack adds Arc Furnace recipes that melt Immersive Engineering sheetmetal back into AllTheOres ingots, and sheetmetal slabs back into nuggets. This works for aluminum, constantan, electrum, lead, nickel, silver, steel and uranium. So if you over-crafted Steel Sheetmetal, you can get Steel Ingot back.[12]

Applied Energistics range upgrade

The pack's own recipe for the Infinity Range Booster pulls in gears from AllTheOres. Stock up on those gears before you go for unlimited wireless range.[12]

All the Compressed

All the Compressed's 1x blocks, like Steel Block 1x or Raw Osmium Block 1x, decompress straight back into the matching AllTheOres storage blocks. This covers metals, alloys, raw blocks and gems. Salt Block also has a compress recipe listed here.[12]

Quests that use AllTheOres items

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheOres?

3 parts

AllTheOres doesn't have its own quest chapter in this pack. Its ingots, dusts and raw ores show up as quest tasks all over the questbook instead. You'll find them in the immersive_engineering, mekanism, mekanism_reactors, extreme_reactors, basic_power, steam_age, occultism and chapter_2_the_star chapters.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

Immersive Engineering

This chapter uses the mod the most. It has a set of alloy quests, one for each ingot, and they all unlock after the same prerequisite quest. That means you can do them in any order once it's done.[2]

a quest in "?" is flexible. A Steel Rod, Iron Rod or Aluminum Rod all complete it, and so do some Immersive Engineering parts. a quest in "?" works the same way: a lava bucket, a magma block or an Uranium Block will all do.[2]

Two bigger build quests need steel in block form. a quest in "?" asks for 9 Steel Block along with a pile of Immersive Engineering structural parts. a quest in "?" asks for 6 steel blocks, 27 reinforced blast bricks, a cauldron and more Immersive Engineering parts.[2]

Mekanism and Mekanism reactors

In the mekanism_reactors chapter, the order is clear. Start with a quest in "?", which asks for Sulfur. That unlocks a quest in "?", which wants Fluorite and a chemical dissolution chamber.[5]

Power, reactors and other chapters

Tip: Steel ingots are the most common request from this mod. They're needed in the immersive_engineering, mekanism, steam_age and chapter_2_the_star chapters, so it pays to get steel production running early.[2][3][7][9]
Tip: Uranium ingots show up in the extreme_reactors, basic_power and chapter_2_the_star chapters. Keep a few spare once you start processing uranium.[4][8][9]

Unverified The quest data doesn't show a recommended order for working through these chapters, and many of the prerequisite quests don't involve this mod. So the best chapter to start with is unconfirmed.

What changed in AllTheOres between versions?

AllTheOres has been in All the Mods 10 for a long time. It was first included in version 2.2 or earlier, and it's still in the pack today.[1]

  • All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier: AllTheOres is first included in the pack.[1]
  • All the Mods 10 2.29: AllTheOres is updated from 3.1.5 to 3.1.6.[25]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0: the pack ships AllTheOres 3.1.6, using the file alltheores-3.1.6_neoforge_1.21.1.jar.[1]

If you're playing All the Mods 10 4.0, you're running AllTheOres 3.1.6. That's the same version number the pack moved to in 2.29.[1][25]

Unverified The specific changes between AllTheOres 3.1.5 and 3.1.6 aren't documented in the available sources, so it's unconfirmed whether that update changed any ores, recipes or other in-game behaviour. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
