What is AllTheOres?

1 part

AllTheOres is one of those mods you'll use constantly, even if you never think about it much. This pack ships version 3.1.6 for NeoForge 1.21.1, and it has been part of the pack since version 1.9 or earlier.[1]

You won't find an AllTheOres quest chapter. Instead, its materials show up as tasks in chapters for other mods, including Mekanism, Mekanism reactors, Extreme Reactors, Occultism and the steam age. So whether you follow the tech side or the magic side, you'll run into its items early and often.[2][3][4][5][6]

Where its items show up in the quests

Tip: Keep a stack of Steel Ingot around. It's a quest task in the Mekanism chapter, the steam age chapter and one more chapter, so you'll need it more than once.[2][6][7]

Unverified The mod's own description, ore generation and processing mechanics aren't covered by the available pack files. This overview only covers where the mod's items appear in the pack's quests.

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

5 parts

AllTheOres supplies a lot of the basic metals and gems you need early on. Quests in the Mekanism, steam age, Extreme Reactors and Occultism chapters ask for its items, so knowing where to find each ore and how to process it pays off quickly.[2][3][5][6]

Step 1: Know where to dig

Each ore has a tooltip showing its height range. The metals you need first sit fairly deep, so a mining trip into the lower layers covers most of them.[8]

  • Osmium, silver and nickel ore are found between Y -64 and Y 56.[8]
  • Sulfur ore is found between Y -64 and Y 25.[8]
  • Uranium ore is found between Y -64 and Y 16, so it's the deepest of these.[8]
  • Fluorite ore is found between Y -64 and Y 228, so it's easy to come across.[8]

Step 2: Osmium for Mekanism

Your first AllTheOres goal is osmium. The Mekanism chapter starts with a quest for Raw Osmium (a quest in "?"), followed by one for Osmium Ingot (a quest in "?"). Raw osmium goes straight into a regular furnace or a blast furnace.[2][9]

Step 3: Steel, your big early goal

Steel Ingot shows up in three separate quests: a quest in "?" in the steam age chapter, a quest in "?" in chapter 2, and a quest in "?" in the Mekanism chapter. You can't smelt it in a plain furnace from raw materials, so you'll need a machine. The Ender IO alloy smelter and the Immersive Engineering alloy smelter both have recipes for it. In this pack, the Immersive Engineering blast furnace also makes this mod's Steel Ingot.[2][6][7][9]

Step 4: Sulfur and fluorite

Sulfur is needed for quests in the Mekanism and Mekanism reactors chapters (a quest in "?" and a quest in "?"). The quest after that one, a quest in "?", asks for Fluorite. You can get both from their ores with a simple crafting-grid recipe, and sulfur ore can also be smelted.[2][4][9]

How does AllTheOres work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

AllTheOres adds a big set of ores, storage blocks and processing chemicals. Its ore blocks come in five variants: a normal stone version, a deepslate version, a Nether version, an End version and an 'other' version. Every variant of the same ore shares the same height range, so once you know where one kind of ore spawns you know where all its variants spawn.[8]

Tip: You don't need to memorise the numbers below. Each ore block has a tooltip that tells you the Y range it's found in, so just hover over it in your inventory or recipe viewer.[8]

Where each ore spawns

Every ore range starts at Y -64, the bottom of the world, and ends at a different height depending on the ore. The lower the top of the range, the deeper you'll need to dig.[8]

  • Aluminum: Y -64 to Y 320, so it can turn up at almost any height.[8]
  • Sapphire: Y -64 to Y 296.[8]
  • Cinnabar, Fluorite, Ruby and Salt: Y -64 to Y 228.[8]
  • Peridot and Tin: Y -64 to Y 196.[8]
  • Zinc: Y -64 to Y 126.[8]
  • Lead, Nickel, Osmium and Silver: Y -64 to Y 56.[8]
  • Platinum: Y -64 to Y 36.[8]
  • Iridium: Y -64 to Y 32.[8]
  • Sulfur: Y -64 to Y 25.[8]
  • Uranium: Y -64 to Y 16, the deepest range of the lot.[8]

Slurry chemicals

The mod also registers chemicals for four of its metals: aluminum, iridium, platinum and uranium. Each one comes as a Dirty Slurry and a Clean Slurry, for example Dirty Iridium Slurry and Clean Iridium Slurry. The dirty and clean pairing means these are meant for an ore-processing chain where you clean the slurry before turning it into metal.[8]

Unverified Which machines process these slurries in this pack, and what they turn into, isn't shown in the available sources. Check your recipe viewer in game for the exact chain. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Storage blocks and decompression

AllTheOres has storage blocks for its metals, alloys and gems, such as Osmium Block, Bronze Block, Enderium Block and Ruby Block. There are also raw ore blocks like Raw Osmium Block and Raw Uranium Block. In this pack, each of these blocks has a compressed 1x version, and a shapeless crafting recipe turns that 1x compressed block back into the normal block.[10]

Turning a compressed Osmium Block back into a regular one

Crafting Shapeless

The same idea works for raw ore blocks

These decompress recipes cover a wide range of blocks: metals like Aluminum Block, Platinum Block and Iridium Block, alloys like Electrum Block, Signalum Block and Lumium Block, gems and minerals like Sapphire Block, Peridot Block and Salt Block, and raw blocks like Raw Tin Block and Raw Zinc Block. So if you've packed your stockpile into compressed storage, you can always unpack it when you need the regular blocks again.[10]

Unverified The available sources don't show any machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling that belong to AllTheOres itself. The mod appears to supply materials for other mods to process, but this isn't confirmed here.

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

7 parts

AllTheOres supplies many of the shared metals and gems this pack runs on: Osmium Ingot, Silver Ingot, Steel Ingot, Uranium Ingot, Sulfur and Fluorite. Its progression comes from other mods' quest chapters asking for these materials, and from the in-pack recipes that let you process them with better machines as you go.[2][3][4][5][6][7][9]

Where the quests ask for AllTheOres materials

Processing: from hand tools to machines

For most of these materials you have a ladder of options. You can start with hand crafting and plain furnace or blast furnace smelting. Later, machines from other mods take over, such as the Immersive Engineering crusher and arc furnace, the Ender IO SAG mill and alloy smelter, and Mekanism's enriching.[9]

Osmium

Early on, you can smelt or blast Raw Osmium, osmium ore or osmium dust straight into Osmium Ingot. Once you have a SAG mill, milling osmium ore gives you raw osmium plus cobblestone. In this pack, a Modern Industrialization macerator also turns osmium ore into raw osmium, and an Industrial Foregoing laser drill with a light gray lens can produce raw osmium.[9]

Steel

Steel shows up early in the quests, and you have plenty of ways to make it. You can use the Ender IO alloy smelter, the Immersive Engineering alloy smelter, blast furnace or arc furnace, or the Modern Industrialization blast furnace. You can also smelt steel dust. All of these give the same AllTheOres Steel Ingot in this pack.[9]

Uranium

You can smelt or blast raw uranium, uranium ore and uranium dust into Uranium Ingot. The arc furnace also processes raw uranium and raw uranium blocks.[9]

Tip: In this pack, smelting or blasting Raw Yellorium from Extreme Reactors gives you an AllTheOres Uranium Ingot, and a Yellorium Block crafts into Uranium Ingots too. So the uranium the Extreme Reactors quests ask for is the same item you get from Yellorium.[3][9]

Sulfur and Fluorite

The simplest way to get Sulfur and Fluorite is an ore hammer in the crafting grid, and you can also smelt sulfur ore directly. After that, you can crush their ores with the Immersive Engineering crusher, the Ender IO SAG mill, Actually Additions crushing or Mekanism enriching.[9]

This pack also adds sulfur as an output of several other recipes. SAG milling coal gives Sulfur plus coal dust. Crushing blaze rods, or coal, lapis and quartz ores, in the Immersive Engineering crusher lists Sulfur among the outputs. Mekanism can make it through coal gasification, and by injecting gunpowder with hydrogen chloride. That's handy once the Mekanism Reactors quests start asking for sulfur.[4][9]

Watch out: The pack has changed many recipes that make these items, including the arc furnace recipes for raw osmium, silver and uranium. Check the recipe viewer in game rather than relying on what the mods do by default.[9]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

4 parts

AllTheOres is the shared metal and gem backbone of this pack, so its items show up in other mods' machines, recipes and quest chapters. Here's how those connections work in this pack.[2][9]

Mekanism ore processing

Mekanism handles most of the ore processing for AllTheOres materials. Its purifying, injecting and dissolution recipes take ores, raw materials and raw storage blocks and turn them into AllTheOres clumps, shards and dirty slurries. Aluminum, iridium, nickel and platinum get the full set, so you can make items like Aluminum Clump, Iridium Shard, Nickel Clump and Platinum Shard directly from ore, raw material or raw blocks.[9]

Clumps can also be made from shards, and shards can be injected from crystals. Crystal-to-shard recipes exist for aluminum, copper, gold, iridium, iron, lead, nickel, osmium and platinum, giving you items like Copper Shard, Gold Shard, Iron Shard, Lead Shard and Osmium Shard. Copper, gold, iron, lead and osmium also have dissolution recipes that turn ore, raw material or raw blocks into dirty slurry.[9]

Watch out: All of the crystal-to-shard injecting recipes listed above are changed by the pack, so check the in-game recipe rather than relying on the default version.[9]

All The Compressed storage blocks

All The Compressed adds 1x compressed versions of many AllTheOres storage blocks, and you can craft each one back into the original block. That covers metal blocks like Steel Block, gem blocks like Ruby Block and raw blocks like Raw Osmium Block. There's also a recipe to compress a Salt Block into a Salt Block 1x.[9]

Quests that use AllTheOres items

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheOres?

5 parts

AllTheOres doesn't get its own quest chapter in this pack. Its ores, ingots and gems appear as tasks in six other chapters. Here's what each one asks for and, where the quest book links quests together, the order you'll do them in.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

Mekanism

The Mekanism chapter uses AllTheOres materials the most. Osmium comes first: collect some Raw Osmium, then smelt it into an Osmium Ingot to unlock the next quest.[2]

  1. a quest in "?" asks for Raw Osmium.[2]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for an Osmium Ingot and unlocks after the raw osmium quest.[2]

Later in the chapter, a quest in "?" asks for a Steel Ingot. a quest in "?" asks for a Chemical Oxidizer together with Sulfur. Both of these unlock from quests outside this mod's material.[2]

Mekanism Reactors

  1. a quest in "?" asks for Sulfur.[4]
  2. a quest in "?" comes right after it and asks for Fluorite plus a Chemical Dissolution Chamber.[4]

Extreme Reactors

This chapter uses uranium. a quest in "?" asks for an Uranium Ingot. a quest in "?" asks for 4 uranium ingots and unlocks from a quest outside this mod's material.[3]

Occultism

Silver is the AllTheOres material in the Occultism chapter. a quest in "?" asks for Soul Sand, a Diamond, a Copper Ingot, a Silver Ingot and an Book of Binding: Djinni (Bound).[5]

a quest in "?" asks for an Book of Binding: Foliot (Bound) along with Raw Iron, Raw Gold, Raw Copper and Raw Silver. It needs several earlier quests from that chapter to be done first.[5]

Steam Age and chapter_2_the_star

Steel shows up in the steam_age chapter too, where a quest in "?" asks for a Steel Ingot.[6]

The chapter_2_the_star chapter has two quests that use this mod: a quest in "?" asks for an Uranium Ingot and a quest in "?" asks for a Steel Ingot. The quest data doesn't link these two quests to each other.[7]

Tip: Steel and uranium each count toward more than one chapter. Steel ingots are asked for in the Mekanism, steam_age and chapter_2_the_star chapters, and uranium ingots in Extreme Reactors and chapter_2_the_star, so keeping a few spares lets you finish those quests as soon as they unlock.[2][3][6][7]

Unverified The sources don't say which chapter you're meant to do first, so the order between chapters isn't covered here.

What changed in AllTheOres between versions?

1 part

AllTheOres has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time. The mod list shows it was first included in All the Mods 10 1.9 or earlier, so you've had it since the early days of the pack.[1]

All the Mods 10 2.29

In All the Mods 10 2.29, the pack updated AllTheOres from version 3.1.5 to 3.1.6.[11]

This pack version ships AllTheOres 3.1.6 as the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. If you're comparing notes with someone on a different pack version, check which AllTheOres version they're running.[1]

Unverified No changelogs for the AllTheOres jars shipped with the pack were available. This section can't confirm what changed between 3.1.5 and 3.1.6, such as new ores, fixes or recipe changes, or what happened in earlier pack releases.
