What is AllTheOres?

1 part

AllTheOres is the pack's shared ore layer. This pack ships version 2.3.6, and it has been part of the pack since version 0.44 or earlier, which is why its ores and ingots turn up everywhere instead of each tech mod bringing its own copies.[1]

In practice you meet it as a set of materials that other mods ask for: Raw Osmium and Osmium Ingot, Raw Silver and Silver Ingot, Steel Ingot, Uranium Ingot, Sulfur and Fluorite. If you are playing this pack for the tech and magic mods, you are going to be mining and processing these whether you plan to or not.[2][3][4][5][6]

Where it fits in progression

There is no AllTheOres quest chapter of its own. Instead its materials are gates inside other chapters, so the mod tracks your progress from early mining right up into reactors.[2][3][4][5][6]

Tip: Because so many separate chapters pull from the same few materials, it pays to automate osmium, silver, uranium, sulfur and fluorite once rather than mining each batch by hand.[2][3][4][5][6]

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

4 parts

AllTheOres doesn't have a machine or a starter block you build. It's the ore layer underneath most of the pack's tech mods: osmium, silver, uranium, steel, sulfur and fluorite all resolve to AllTheOres items, so a single furnace recipe feeds Mekanism, Ender IO, Modern Industrialization and the reactor mods at once. Getting started means mining a few ores and smelting them in the right order.[7]

Osmium first

Osmium is the single most useful early ore because Mekanism's whole starter chain runs on it. The pack has quests for it as a pair: one for picking up Raw Osmium, then a follow-up for smelting your first Osmium Ingot.[2]

Any osmium ore in the pack smelts straight to an ingot, so you can start with nothing more than a furnace. A blast furnace does the same job faster once you have one.[7]

Tip: If you'd rather bank the ore and process it later, a macerator turns osmium ore into raw osmium, and raw osmium smelts or blasts into ingots just like the ore does.[7]

Silver for the magic side

Silver is the ore you'll want next if you're heading toward Occultism. One of its quests asks for Raw Silver alongside raw iron, gold and copper, and a later one wants a finished Silver Ingot.[6]

Silver works exactly like osmium: smelt or blast the ore, or smelt the raw form. If you end up short on silver later, the pack also adds an Ars Nouveau imbuement that transmutes gold into a silver ingot.[7]

Steel and uranium

Steel Ingot shows up as a quest in both the Mekanism and the star chapters, so it's worth unlocking early. The pack gives you several routes: smelting Steel Compound, alloy-smelting it in Ender IO, or a Modern Industrialization blast furnace once you're industrialised.[2][3][7]

Uranium Ingot is a quest item in the star chapter and twice in the Extreme Reactors chapter, where the second quest asks for four of them. Uranium ore smelts and blasts to an ingot directly, and Raw Yellorium from the reactor mod feeds the same item.[3][4][7]

Sulfur and fluorite

Sulfur and Fluorite are the two you'll need when you start Mekanism's chemical line. Sulfur is a quest task alongside the Chemical Oxidizer, and fluorite is asked for together with the Chemical Dissolution Chamber in the reactor chapter.[2][5]

You don't need machines for either one at first. The pack adds an Ender IO SAG Mill recipe that gives sulfur from coal, plus an enriching recipe straight from sulfur ore, and fluorite comes out of an Enrichment Chamber fed with fluorite ore.[7]

How does AllTheOres work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.27 guide

AllTheOres doesn't give you a big machine to build. Its deeper systems show up in two places in this pack: a set of chemical slurries for a few metals, and crafting recipes that turn compressed storage blocks back into the mod's regular blocks. Here's what each one covers.[8][9]

Ore slurries

The mod registers slurry chemicals in two forms, dirty and clean, for four metals: aluminum, iridium, platinum and uranium. Each metal has both versions.[8]

  • Aluminum: Dirty Aluminum Slurry and Clean Aluminum Slurry.[8]
  • Iridium: Dirty Iridium Slurry and Clean Iridium Slurry.[8]
  • Platinum: Dirty Platinum Slurry and Clean Platinum Slurry.[8]
  • Uranium: Dirty Uranium Slurry and Clean Uranium Slurry.[8]

Unverified The names suggest a processing chain where dirty slurry is washed into clean slurry and then turned into metal, but how these slurries are made and used in this pack, which machines handle them, and what they yield could not be confirmed.

Decompressing storage blocks

If you've been compressing your storage, this pack gives you a simple way back. A shapeless crafting recipe turns each compressed "1x" block back into the normal AllTheOres block. For example, Aluminum Block 1x crafts back into a Aluminum Block.[9]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/aluminum_block_1x

Example: compressed aluminum back to a normal Aluminum Block

The same kind of recipe exists for plenty of the mod's storage blocks, including Brass Block, Bronze Block, Constantan Block, Electrum Block, Enderium Block, Invar Block, Lumium Block, Signalum Block, Lead Block, Nickel Block, Osmium Block, Platinum Block and Iridium Block.[9]

Gem and mineral blocks work the same way: Ruby Block, Sapphire Block, Peridot Block, Fluorite Block, Cinnabar Block and Salt Block all have a decompress recipe.[9]

Raw ore blocks are covered too. You can decompress back to Raw Aluminum Block, Raw Iridium Block, Raw Lead Block, Raw Nickel Block, Raw Osmium Block, Raw Platinum Block, Raw Silver Block, Raw Tin Block, Raw Uranium Block and Raw Zinc Block.[9]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/raw_platinum_block_1x

Example: getting a Block of Raw Platinum back out of compressed storage

Tip: These decompress recipes are shapeless, so the layout in the crafting grid doesn't matter. If you need raw blocks for processing, one craft gets you the normal block back from its 1x compressed form.[9]

Unverified Details on how AllTheOres handles ore generation, machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation in this pack could not be confirmed, so they are not covered here.

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

5 parts

This mod isn't a tech tree of its own, it's the shared ore layer the rest of the pack builds on. The pack rewires recipes from Mekanism, Modern Industrialization, EnderIO, Big Reactors, MFFS and more so they all output the same ingots, and most of those recipes accept any matching ore, raw material, dust or nugget tag rather than one specific mod's version. So your progression through these materials is really the progression of whatever tech mod you're chasing.[7]

Tip: Nearly every ingot recipe here takes a tag, not a single item, so ore from one mod and raw material from another feed the same furnace recipe. Don't bother sorting your silver or uranium by source mod.[7]

Tier 1: ores you can smelt on day one

Silver and osmium are the entry point. Both have ores in the world and both have plain furnace and blast furnace recipes that the pack has retargeted to the shared ingots, so a basic Furnace is all you need to start. Osmium is what the Mekanism quest line asks for first: a quest in "?" wants Raw Osmium, and a quest in "?" follows it with Osmium Ingot.[2][7]

Silver shows up early in the Occultism chapter as well: a quest in "?" collects Raw Silver alongside the vanilla raw metals, and a quest in "?" later asks for Silver Ingot. If you're short on silver ore, the pack also changed an Ars imbuement recipe to transmute gold into a silver ingot.[6][7]

Tier 2: steel, the first processed metal

Steel has no ore: you only get it by running a processing chain, which makes it the first real gate. The pack points several routes at the same Steel Ingot: an MFFS smelting recipe, an EnderIO alloy smelting version the pack added, Modern Industrialization blast furnace recipes, and simple furnace or blast furnace recipes for steel dust. Whichever mod you're on, the ingot is the same one a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" ask for.[2][3][7]

Tier 3: sulfur and fluorite for chemical processing

Once you're into Mekanism's chemical line, Sulfur and Fluorite become the materials to watch. The reactors chapter walks you through it: a quest in "?" wants sulfur, and a quest in "?" then pairs Fluorite with a Chemical Dissolution Chamber. Over in the main Mekanism chapter, a quest in "?" asks for sulfur next to a Chemical Oxidizer.[2][5]

Sulfur is generous about where it comes from. The pack added an enriching recipe straight from sulfur ore and a SAG milling recipe from coal, and there are also coal gasification, gunpowder injecting, Modern Industrialization electrolyzer and even lava centrifuge routes that all hand you the same dust.[7]

Tier 4: uranium and the reactor path

Uranium is the late-game material here because it's what the reactor chapters run on. The pack unified Big Reactors' yellorium into Uranium Ingot (raw yellorium smelting, blasting and the block-to-component recipe all give you the shared ingot) and Mekanism's uranium recipes land on the same item. The Extreme Reactors chapter starts with a single ingot in a quest in "?" and scales up to four in a quest in "?", and a quest in "?" asks for it too.[3][4][7]

Automating the back half

When mining stops keeping up, two pack-changed recipes are worth knowing: the Industrial Foregoing laser drill produces Raw Osmium and Raw Silver with the matching lenses, and macerating raw lead in Modern Industrialization gives you Lead Dust with Raw Silver as a byproduct.[7]

Unverified The exact drop rates and byproduct chances for the laser drill and macerator routes aren't in the sources used for this page.

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

6 parts

AllTheOres is mostly a supplier of metals and gems, so most of its links to other mods are recipes and quests where its items show up next to someone else's machines. Here is what the pack actually does with them.[2][7]

Mekanism ore processing

The biggest connection is Mekanism. AllTheOres ships its own Mekanism processing recipes for aluminum, iridium, nickel, platinum and silver. They follow the same pattern for each metal, and the recipes accept ores, raw materials, raw blocks and, where relevant, shards or crystals.[7]

Zinc is covered too, but the zinc recipes in my sources only produce Zinc Clump through purifying with oxygen. Zinc shard and slurry recipes are not confirmed.[7]

Mekanism quests

The Mekanism questline uses AllTheOres items as tasks. You are asked for Raw Osmium in a quest in "?", then Osmium Ingot in a quest in "?", and Steel Ingot in a quest in "?".[2]

a quest in "?" pairs the Chemical Oxidizer with Sulfur. In the Mekanism reactors chapter, a quest in "?" asks for sulfur again, and a quest in "?" asks for Fluorite together with the Chemical Dissolution Chamber.[2][5]

Reactor and progression quests

Uranium Ingot shows up as a quest task in the Extreme Reactors chapter, in a quest in "?" and in a quest in "?", which asks for 4 of them. It also appears in a quest in "?" in the chapter_2_the_star chapter, which also asks for a steel ingot in a quest in "?".[3][4]

Occultism

The Occultism chapter also asks for AllTheOres silver. a quest in "?" lists Silver Ingot among its tasks, alongside a bound djinni book. a quest in "?" lists Raw Silver next to a bound foliot book.[6]

AllTheCompressed

Every AllTheOres storage block in my sources has a matching 1x block from AllTheCompressed, and a shapeless decompress recipe turns that 1x block back into the normal AllTheOres block. That covers metals, alloys, gems and raw blocks. The only compress recipes I can confirm go the other way for Salt Block and Sulfur Block.[7]

Applied Energistics 2 add-on

The pack adds its own recipe for the Infinity Range Booster, which uses the Wireless Booster. It needs both Enderium Gear and Lumium Gear from AllTheOres, so this is a pack-specific connection rather than a mod default.[7]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheOres?

5 parts

Items from this mod show up as quest tasks in several chapters. Most of them are plain ingot or raw-ore hand-ins. None of these quests has a title in the pack files, so they are listed by their quest refs, in the order their prerequisites set.[2][3][4][5][6]

Mekanism chapter

The first chain starts with a quest in "?", which asks for Raw Osmium. It unlocks a quest in "?", which asks for Osmium Ingot.[2]

The remaining quests each follow an earlier quest that isn't covered here. a quest in "?" asks for Steel Ingot. a quest in "?" asks for a Chemical Oxidizer and Sulfur.[2]

Mekanism reactors chapter

  1. a quest in "?" asks for Sulfur. It follows an earlier quest that isn't covered here.[5]
  2. a quest in "?" unlocks after the sulfur quest. It asks for Fluorite and a Chemical Dissolution Chamber.[5]

Extreme reactors chapter

a quest in "?" asks for a single Uranium Ingot. a quest in "?" asks for 4 uranium ingots. It follows an earlier quest that isn't covered here.[4]

Chapter 2: The Star

This chapter has quests that ask for ingots from this mod: a quest in "?" for Uranium Ingot and a quest in "?" for Steel Ingot. The sources list no prerequisites for either, so no order is given.[3]

Occultism chapter

Silver turns up in this chapter too. a quest in "?" asks for a Bound Foliot book, plus raw iron, raw gold, raw copper and Raw Silver. It unlocks only after a group of earlier quests is done.[6]

a quest in "?" asks for soul sand, a diamond, a copper ingot, a Silver Ingot and a Bound Djinni book. It follows an earlier quest that isn't covered here.[6]
