What is AllTheOres?

1 part

AllTheOres is the pack's shared ore and metal layer. Instead of every tech mod shipping its own copper, silver or uranium, this mod supplies a common set of raw ores and ingots that the rest of the pack draws on, so a chunk of your early mining is automatically useful to several mods at once. You will run into its materials as Raw Osmium, Osmium Ingot, Raw Silver, Silver Ingot and Uranium Ingot while working through other mods' quest chapters.[1][2][3]

This pack ships AllTheOres 2.3.3-alpha for NeoForge 1.21, and the mod has been part of the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it is baked into progression rather than a late addition.[4]

Where it fits in progression

Tip: Because osmium, silver and uranium all show up as quest requirements, it pays to hang onto the raw drops rather than smelting everything on sight; two of the Mekanism and Occultism quests want the raw form specifically.[1][2]

Unverified Nothing in the pack files provided shows AllTheOres materials on the ATM Star quest path, so treat it as supporting infrastructure for other mods rather than a goal in its own right.

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

4 parts

AllTheOres doesn't need a machine or a ritual to get going. Its ores generate in the world alongside vanilla ones, so your first steps are simply mining, smelting and letting the pack's quests pull you forward. The three metals worth chasing first are osmium, silver and uranium, because each of them unlocks a quest line you'll want early.[1][2][3][5]

Step 1: mine raw osmium

Osmium is the single most important thing this mod hands you at the start, because the pack's Mekanism quest line opens with a task for Raw Osmium. Break Osmium Ore or Deepslate Osmium Ore while you're digging out your first base and you'll have the quest done without a detour.[1][5]

The follow-up quest asks for Osmium Ingot, so throw that raw osmium straight into a furnace or blast furnace. If you're short on fuel, you can also smelt the ore block itself instead of the raw drop.[1][5]

A blast furnace works too, with alltheores:osmium_ingot_from_raw_blasting.

Tip: Storage blocks are a two-way street. Nine ingots pack into an Osmium Block, and the block unpacks again with a single shapeless craft, so you can compress everything for transport and unpack on arrival without losing anything.[5]

  • any osmium storage block

Step 2: keep your silver

Silver is the quiet essential here. The pack's Occultism line wants Raw Silver for its first binding quest and Silver Ingot for the next one, so don't burn through your silver on decoration before you get there.[2][5]

Smelting works exactly like osmium: raw silver, Silver Ore or Deepslate Silver Ore all cook down into ingots in a furnace or blast furnace.[5]

Tip: Once you have machines running, silver dust also smelts or blasts into an ingot, which is how you cash in the extra output from ore processing.[5]

Step 3: stockpile uranium for later

You won't need uranium on day one, but the pack's Mekanism reactor quest line asks for Uranium Ingot, so every Raw Uranium you pick up while mining is progress toward it. Toss it in a chest and keep going.[3][5]

Everything else you dig up

AllTheOres adds a long list of other metals, gems and dusts, and nearly all of them have a storage block that turns back into ingots or raw material with one shapeless craft. Aluminum, lead, nickel, platinum, tin, zinc, iridium, ruby, sapphire, peridot, fluorite, sulfur and salt all follow the same pattern, so compress freely and unpack when you need the parts.[5]

Unverified Exact ore generation heights, biome restrictions and per-ore spawn rates for this pack aren't covered by the sources used for this page, so check in-game with your map or ore-finder tooling.

How does AllTheOres work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.27 guide

AllTheOres doesn't give you a big machine to build. Its deeper systems show up in two places in this pack: a set of chemical slurries for a few metals, and crafting recipes that turn compressed storage blocks back into the mod's regular blocks. Here's what each one covers.[6][7]

Ore slurries

The mod registers slurry chemicals in two forms, dirty and clean, for four metals: aluminum, iridium, platinum and uranium. Each metal has both versions.[6]

  • Aluminum: Dirty Aluminum Slurry and Clean Aluminum Slurry.[6]
  • Iridium: Dirty Iridium Slurry and Clean Iridium Slurry.[6]
  • Platinum: Dirty Platinum Slurry and Clean Platinum Slurry.[6]
  • Uranium: Dirty Uranium Slurry and Clean Uranium Slurry.[6]

Unverified The names suggest a processing chain where dirty slurry is washed into clean slurry and then turned into metal, but how these slurries are made and used in this pack, which machines handle them, and what they yield could not be confirmed.

Decompressing storage blocks

If you've been compressing your storage, this pack gives you a simple way back. A shapeless crafting recipe turns each compressed "1x" block back into the normal AllTheOres block. For example, Aluminum Block 1x crafts back into a Aluminum Block.[7]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/aluminum_block_1x

Example: compressed aluminum back to a normal Aluminum Block

The same kind of recipe exists for plenty of the mod's storage blocks, including Brass Block, Bronze Block, Constantan Block, Electrum Block, Enderium Block, Invar Block, Lumium Block, Signalum Block, Lead Block, Nickel Block, Osmium Block, Platinum Block and Iridium Block.[7]

Gem and mineral blocks work the same way: Ruby Block, Sapphire Block, Peridot Block, Fluorite Block, Cinnabar Block and Salt Block all have a decompress recipe.[7]

Raw ore blocks are covered too. You can decompress back to Raw Aluminum Block, Raw Iridium Block, Raw Lead Block, Raw Nickel Block, Raw Osmium Block, Raw Platinum Block, Raw Silver Block, Raw Tin Block, Raw Uranium Block and Raw Zinc Block.[7]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/raw_platinum_block_1x

Example: getting a Block of Raw Platinum back out of compressed storage

Tip: These decompress recipes are shapeless, so the layout in the crafting grid doesn't matter. If you need raw blocks for processing, one craft gets you the normal block back from its 1x compressed form.[7]

Unverified Details on how AllTheOres handles ore generation, machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation in this pack could not be confirmed, so they are not covered here.

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

5 parts

AllTheOres has no quest chapter of its own in this pack. Its ores and ingots show up as task items in the Mekanism, Occultism and Mekanism reactors chapters, so your progression with this mod follows whichever of those lines you are working on. The quests are untitled, so I refer to them by ID.[1][2][3]

From raw ore to ingots

The ores the quests ask for are osmium, silver and uranium. Each has a normal ore and a slate ore, and both kinds can be smelted or blasted straight into an ingot. Raw drops can be smelted or blasted too. Osmium and uranium dust can be smelted or blasted into ingots as well. Silver dust also has smelting and blasting recipes, which sit under a Mekanism processing path in the pack.[1][2][3][5]

If you already have nuggets or storage blocks, you can turn those back into ingots by crafting. That applies to osmium, silver and uranium.[5]

Osmium: the Mekanism line

In the Mekanism chapter, a quest in "?" wants Raw Osmium. a quest in "?" comes after it and asks for an Osmium Ingot. Smelt or blast your raw osmium to get the ingot.[1][5]

Silver: the Occultism line

Silver shows up in the Occultism chapter. a quest in "?" asks for Raw Silver alongside raw iron, raw gold, raw copper and a Foliot binding book. a quest in "?" asks for an Silver Ingot along with other items, including a bound Djinni binding book. Smelt or blast your raw silver to get the ingot.[2][5]

Uranium: the reactor line

In the Mekanism reactors chapter, a quest in "?" asks for an Uranium Ingot together with Mekanism's yellow cake. It unlocks after another quest in that chapter.[3]

Alloys and hammer tools

The pack has shapeless crafting recipes that blend copper dust with another dust to make alloy dusts. Here are bronze and brass.[5]

Some recipes use an ore hammer, for example crushing raw aluminum or an aluminum ingot into Aluminum Dust, and making aluminum plates and rods. Brass plates and rods are hammer-made as well.[5]

Unverified I could not confirm a full tier order for the rest of the mod's metals, gems and alloys. No quest in the sources ties them together, and part of the recipe list was not available to me. This section only covers what the quests and recipes above confirm.

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

4 parts

AllTheOres is mostly a supply mod, so its links to other mods show up in a few specific places: Mekanism ore processing, AllTheCompressed storage blocks, and a pack-added AE2 addon recipe. A few quests also ask you to hand in AllTheOres items.[1][2][3][5]

Mekanism ore processing

AllTheOres ships its own Mekanism processing recipes. For aluminum and iridium, the recipes cover purifying with Liquid Oxygen to make clumps, injecting with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride to make shards, and dissolving with Liquid Sulfuric Acid to make dirty slurry. Nickel has purifying recipes for clumps, plus an injecting recipe that turns crystals into shards. You get Aluminum Clump, Iridium Clump and Nickel Clump from purifying, and Aluminum Shard, Iridium Shard and Nickel Shard from injecting.[5]

The recipes accept several kinds of input. For aluminum and iridium, ores, raw materials and raw storage blocks can go into every step. Shards can go back into purifying, and crystals can go into injecting. Here is one example of each step for aluminum:[5]

Purifying (mekanism)

Unverified The recipe data I had access to only covers aluminum, iridium and part of nickel. I can't confirm from it whether other AllTheOres metals have the same Mekanism recipes.

AllTheCompressed storage blocks

AllTheCompressed has a compress recipe and a decompress recipe for AllTheOres storage blocks. Compressing is a shaped crafting recipe and turns a block into its 1x version. Decompressing is shapeless and turns it back. This covers metal blocks like Steel Block and Silver Block, gem blocks like Ruby Block, and raw blocks like Raw Uranium Block.[5]

The pack adds its own recipe for the Infinity Range Booster, and it uses Enderium Gear and Lumium Gear from AllTheOres. This recipe belongs to the pack, not to either mod.[5]

Quests that use AllTheOres items

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheOres?

4 parts

AllTheOres shows up in the Mekanism, Occultism and Mekanism Reactors quest chapters of the pack. In every case the ores are just part of a bigger task list, since the quests ask you to hand in AllTheOres items next to items from other mods. None of these quests have titles in the pack files, so they are listed by their IDs.[1][2][3]

Mekanism chapter

This is the simplest one, a short chain. Quest a quest in "?" asks you to submit Raw Osmium. Once that is done, a quest in "?" unlocks and asks for an Osmium Ingot. In short: mine the ore first, then smelt it.[1]

Occultism chapter

This chapter has quests that use AllTheOres items. Each one lists several tasks, so you need to collect everything on the list.[2]

  • a quest in "?" asks for the Occultism bound foliot book of binding, raw iron, raw gold, raw copper and Raw Silver. It unlocks only after several earlier quests in the chapter are done.[2]
  • a quest in "?" asks for soul sand, a diamond, a copper ingot, a Silver Ingot and the Occultism bound djinni book of binding. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the chapter.[2]

Raw silver in the first quest and a silver ingot in the second means you will want a silver supply running before you get far into this chapter. Neither of these quests lists the other as a prerequisite, so each follows its own earlier quests.[2]

Mekanism Reactors chapter

Quest a quest in "?" asks for an Uranium Ingot and Mekanism's uranium yellow cake. It unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter.[3]

Suggested order

  1. Start with the Mekanism chapter: a quest in "?" for raw osmium, then a quest in "?" for the ingot.[1]
  2. Work through the Occultism chapter as the earlier quests unlock a quest in "?" and a quest in "?", and have silver ready.[2]
  3. Reach a quest in "?" in the Mekanism Reactors chapter once its earlier quest is complete, with a uranium ingot in hand.[3]
