What is AllTheOres?

1 part

AllTheOres is one of the quiet workhorse mods in this pack. It runs on version 2.3.4-alpha for NeoForge 1.21.1, and it has been part of the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so its materials are baked into the progression rather than bolted on late.[1]

Its job here is to supply the raw and processed metals that other mods expect you to have: things like Raw Osmium, Osmium Ingot, Steel Ingot, Raw Silver, Silver Ingot, Uranium Ingot, Sulfur and Fluorite. You will mine and process these constantly without ever really visiting a dedicated AllTheOres machine or menu.[2][3][4][5]

Where it fits in progression

Tip: Because four separate quest chapters draw on the same materials, it pays to over-mine osmium, silver, uranium and sulfur early instead of gathering just enough for one quest at a time.[2][3][4][5]

Unverified Details of which ores generate in which dimensions, their worldgen settings and any pack-side config tweaks for this mod could not be confirmed from the available sources.

How do you get started with AllTheOres?

3 parts

AllTheOres doesn't give you a machine or a quest line of its own. Instead it supplies the ores and ingots that the pack's big tech mods run on, so your first steps are simply mining and smelting. The good news is that the pack wires these ingots into recipes from several mods at once, so one ore vein feeds a lot of different progression paths.[6]

Osmium first

Osmium is the one to look for early, because it's the backbone of Mekanism's starter machines and the pack's Mekanism quest line opens with Raw Osmium and then Osmium Ingot as its first two steps.[2]

Ore blocks go straight into a furnace or blast furnace, so you don't need any machine to get started.[6]

Twice as fast in a blast furnace.

If you'd rather double up later, raw osmium smelts into ingots too, and once you have a Modern Industrialization macerator you can grind osmium ore into Raw Osmium instead of smelting it straight away.[6]

Silver for magic and early crafting

Silver is your other early pickup. Occultism asks for Raw Silver in one quest and Silver Ingot in a later one, so grab every vein you pass on the way down.[5]

Steel, sulfur and uranium

Steel Ingot shows up a little later in the Mekanism chapter, and the pack gives you more than one way to make it. MFFS steel compound smelts into an ingot, and a Modern Industrialization blast furnace can produce it from dusts.[2][6]

Sulfur is a quest item in both the Mekanism chapter, alongside the Chemical Oxidizer, and the reactors chapter. The easiest first source is Mekanism's injection recipe that turns gunpowder into sulfur.[2][3][6]

Uranium Ingot is what the reactor chapters are built around: it's a task in the Mekanism reactors chapter next to yellow cake uranium, and Extreme Reactors asks for it twice, once on its own and once as a stack of four. Uranium ore smelts or blasts like any other ore, and the pack also routes Big Reactors' raw yellorium into the same ingot.[3][4][6]

Once you're deeper into Mekanism, Fluorite joins the list as a quest task alongside the Chemical Dissolution Chamber. You can enrich it out of fluorite ore, so an Enrichment Chamber pays for itself here.[3][6]

6× FluoriteChanged by the pack

Enriching (mekanism)

  • any fluorite ore

Recipe id: mekanism:processing/fluorite/from_ore

Tip: Keep an eye on the ore processing chain later on: the pack's macerator recipe for raw lead also drops Raw Silver as a byproduct, and centrifuging lava yields Aluminum Nugget, Copper Nugget and Sulfur.[6]

How does AllTheOres work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.27 guide

AllTheOres doesn't give you a big machine to build. Its deeper systems show up in two places in this pack: a set of chemical slurries for a few metals, and crafting recipes that turn compressed storage blocks back into the mod's regular blocks. Here's what each one covers.[7][8]

Ore slurries

The mod registers slurry chemicals in two forms, dirty and clean, for four metals: aluminum, iridium, platinum and uranium. Each metal has both versions.[7]

  • Aluminum: Dirty Aluminum Slurry and Clean Aluminum Slurry.[7]
  • Iridium: Dirty Iridium Slurry and Clean Iridium Slurry.[7]
  • Platinum: Dirty Platinum Slurry and Clean Platinum Slurry.[7]
  • Uranium: Dirty Uranium Slurry and Clean Uranium Slurry.[7]

Unverified The names suggest a processing chain where dirty slurry is washed into clean slurry and then turned into metal, but how these slurries are made and used in this pack, which machines handle them, and what they yield could not be confirmed.

Decompressing storage blocks

If you've been compressing your storage, this pack gives you a simple way back. A shapeless crafting recipe turns each compressed "1x" block back into the normal AllTheOres block. For example, Aluminum Block 1x crafts back into a Aluminum Block.[8]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/aluminum_block_1x

Example: compressed aluminum back to a normal Aluminum Block

The same kind of recipe exists for plenty of the mod's storage blocks, including Brass Block, Bronze Block, Constantan Block, Electrum Block, Enderium Block, Invar Block, Lumium Block, Signalum Block, Lead Block, Nickel Block, Osmium Block, Platinum Block and Iridium Block.[8]

Gem and mineral blocks work the same way: Ruby Block, Sapphire Block, Peridot Block, Fluorite Block, Cinnabar Block and Salt Block all have a decompress recipe.[8]

Raw ore blocks are covered too. You can decompress back to Raw Aluminum Block, Raw Iridium Block, Raw Lead Block, Raw Nickel Block, Raw Osmium Block, Raw Platinum Block, Raw Silver Block, Raw Tin Block, Raw Uranium Block and Raw Zinc Block.[8]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/raw_platinum_block_1x

Example: getting a Block of Raw Platinum back out of compressed storage

Tip: These decompress recipes are shapeless, so the layout in the crafting grid doesn't matter. If you need raw blocks for processing, one craft gets you the normal block back from its 1x compressed form.[8]

Unverified Details on how AllTheOres handles ore generation, machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation in this pack could not be confirmed, so they are not covered here.

How do you progress through AllTheOres?

4 parts

The sources for this pack don't lay out named tiers for AllTheOres. What they do show is where its metals appear in the pack's quest chapters and which recipes the pack has changed to produce them. Here is that path, chapter by chapter.[2][6]

Osmium and steel: the Mekanism chapter

The Mekanism chapter has several AllTheOres quests. a quest in "?" asks for Raw Osmium. Right after it, a quest in "?" asks for an Osmium Ingot.[2]

The pack has changed the smelting and blasting recipes that turn osmium ore into an ingot. Here is the furnace one.[6]

Osmium IngotChanged by the pack

Smelting

  • any osmium ore

Recipe id: alltheores:osmium_ingot_from_oresmelting

Another quest in the chapter, a quest in "?", asks for a Steel Ingot. The pack's recipe dump lists several ways to get steel from different mods, including Mekanism, Modern Industrialization, MFFS and Railcraft's blast furnace. Every one of those recipes is marked as changed by the pack. Here is the Mekanism nugget route.[2][6]

Sulfur and fluorite

a quest in "?" wants a Chemical Oxidizer and some Sulfur. In the Mekanism reactors chapter, a quest in "?" asks for sulfur again, and a quest in "?" follows it. That one wants Fluorite and a Chemical Dissolution Chamber.[2][3]

The pack lists many sulfur sources. Mekanism can make it from gunpowder, and Modern Industrialization, Occultism and Productive Bees can too. This is the Mekanism route.[6]

Uranium for the reactors

Both reactor chapters ask for Uranium Ingot. In the Mekanism reactors chapter, a quest in "?" pairs it with Yellow Cake Uranium. In the Extreme Reactors chapter, a quest in "?" asks for a single ingot, and a quest in "?" later asks for 4.[3][4]

The pack has changed the smelting recipe for uranium ore. It also has recipes that turn Extreme Reactors' yellorium into uranium ingots.[6]

Silver for Occultism

The Occultism chapter asks for silver in a couple of quests. a quest in "?" asks for Raw Silver alongside other raw metals. a quest in "?" asks for a Silver Ingot.[5]

The pack changed silver ore blasting. It also has a silver recipe through Ars Nouveau's imbuement, which uses an Occultism essence and gem.[6]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.3 guide

AllTheOres is mostly a supplier of metals and gems, so most of its links to other mods are recipes and quests where its items show up next to someone else's machines. Here is what the pack actually does with them.[9][10]

Mekanism ore processing

The biggest connection is Mekanism. AllTheOres ships its own Mekanism processing recipes for aluminum, iridium, nickel, platinum and silver. They follow the same pattern for each metal, and the recipes accept ores, raw materials, raw blocks and, where relevant, shards or crystals.[9]

Zinc is covered too, but the zinc recipes in my sources only produce Zinc Clump through purifying with oxygen. Zinc shard and slurry recipes are not confirmed.[9]

Mekanism quests

The Mekanism questline uses AllTheOres items as tasks. You are asked for Raw Osmium in a quest in "?", then Osmium Ingot in a quest in "?", and Steel Ingot in a quest in "?".[10]

a quest in "?" pairs the Chemical Oxidizer with Sulfur. In the Mekanism reactors chapter, a quest in "?" asks for sulfur again, and a quest in "?" asks for Fluorite together with the Chemical Dissolution Chamber.[10][11]

Reactor and progression quests

Uranium Ingot shows up as a quest task in the Extreme Reactors chapter, in a quest in "?" and in a quest in "?", which asks for 4 of them. It also appears in a quest in "?" in the chapter_2_the_star chapter, which also asks for a steel ingot in a quest in "?".[12][13]

Occultism

The Occultism chapter also asks for AllTheOres silver. a quest in "?" lists Silver Ingot among its tasks, alongside a bound djinni book. a quest in "?" lists Raw Silver next to a bound foliot book.[14]

AllTheCompressed

Every AllTheOres storage block in my sources has a matching 1x block from AllTheCompressed, and a shapeless decompress recipe turns that 1x block back into the normal AllTheOres block. That covers metals, alloys, gems and raw blocks. The only compress recipes I can confirm go the other way for Salt Block and Sulfur Block.[9]

Applied Energistics 2 add-on

The pack adds its own recipe for the Infinity Range Booster, which uses the Wireless Booster. It needs both Enderium Gear and Lumium Gear from AllTheOres, so this is a pack-specific connection rather than a mod default.[9]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AllTheOres?

4 parts

AllTheOres items appear as tasks in the "mekanism", "mekanism_reactors", "extreme_reactors" and "occultism" quest chapters of this pack. Its ores and ingots are handed in as part of quests built around other mods. These quests have no titles in the pack files, so I refer to them by their IDs.[2][3][4][5]

Mekanism chapter

The osmium quests form a short chain here. The steel and sulfur quests unlock after other quests in the chapter, and the sources don't show what those are. Order follows the "after" links.[2]

  1. a quest in "?" asks for Raw Osmium.[2]
  2. a quest in "?" unlocks after the quest above and asks for an Osmium Ingot.[2]
  3. a quest in "?" asks for a Steel Ingot. It unlocks after a different quest in this chapter that doesn't involve this mod.[2]
  4. a quest in "?" asks for a Chemical Oxidizer and Sulfur. It also unlocks after a quest that doesn't involve this mod.[2]

Mekanism reactors chapter

Here you hand in uranium, sulfur and fluorite. a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" both unlock after the same earlier quest, which doesn't involve this mod.[3]

Extreme reactors chapter

  1. a quest in "?" has no prerequisite and asks for an Uranium Ingot.[4]
  2. a quest in "?" asks for 4 Uranium Ingot. It unlocks after a quest that doesn't involve this mod.[4]

Occultism chapter

The silver quests in this chapter are multi-item hand-ins that mix vanilla materials, silver and an Occultism book.[5]
