Oritech is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.2.13. A technology-focused mod, with animated machinery, diverse processing options, and plenty of new mechanics and equipment (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Oritech?

2 parts

Oritech is a technology mod packed with new machines and tools: processing machines, machines that interact with the world, logistics parts, equipment and more. Most machines are animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them by attaching addon blocks instead of slotting in upgrade items.[1]

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Oritech 1.2.11 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 4.0 or earlier.[2]

Oritech is for players who like building big automated bases. It is designed so that most things can be made in more than one way, which helps you avoid getting stuck waiting on one rare item. It also aims to make most resources renewable through large automated farms, and in the late game it offers renewable metals from the bedrock extractor. It also includes compatibility with other NeoForge tech mods such as Mekanism, Create and Applied Energistics 2, so metals and components from those mods can be processed in Oritech machines, and the reverse.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack has its own Oritech quest chapter, and the chapter's quest text calls machine cores the basics of the mod. You right-click a machine with a core such as the Primitive Machine Core to build it. Cores do not make a machine faster or more efficient; they only set how many modifiers the machine can take. The "Machine Cores" quest quest introduces this.[3]

The "Basic Building Components" quest quest asks for the Magnetic Coil and the Motor, which its quest description says are used in most machines. From there the chapter branches into power generation, such as the Basic Generator and Bio Generator, item, fluid and energy pipes, Drone Port logistics, alloys from the Foundry, and the Enderic Laser.[3]

The ATM Star path

Oritech is part of Chapter 3: The ATM Star. The "Oritech" quest quest asks for a Magnetic Coil to get started. It then unlocks "Manhattan Module" quest, which asks for the Manhattan Module. The quest warns that you'll need a lot of machines, many different alloys and materials, and plenty of time. The crafting tree uses the Particle Accelerator and engraving in the Atomic Forge, so plan to build a proper Oritech base before you go for it.[4]

Tip: Magnetic Coils are both the entry item for the ATM Star Oritech quest and one of the basic components used in most machines. Making a good stack of them early will help you on both fronts.[3][4]

How do you get started with Oritech?

5 parts

Oritech is a tech mod built around multiblock machines, dangerous blocks and colourful tiled blocks. It needs a lot of machines, alloys, materials and time. In All the Mods 10 its entry point is the Oritech quest "Oritech" quest in the ATM Star chapter, and that quest asks for exactly one thing to kick you off: a Magnetic Coil.[4]

Most Oritech machines are animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them by placing addon blocks next to them. Keep that in mind as you build your first setup.[1]

Step 1: Coils and Motors

Your first real goal is the Basic Building Components quest "Basic Building Components" quest. It asks for 2 Magnetic Coil and 2 Motor, because these parts go into most of the machines in the mod.[3]

Unverified The recipes shown above run in the Assembler, but the questline asks for coils and motors before the Assembler. A crafting-table recipe for your very first coils and motors is likely, but it could not be confirmed here, so check JEI or EMI in-game. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Step 2: Machine Cores

Every Oritech machine uses machine cores, so grab a Primitive Machine Core for the Machine Cores quest "Machine Cores" quest. You right-click a machine with machine cores to build it. Cores don't directly change a machine's speed or efficiency. They only change how many modifiers it can take.[3]

Tip: Later core tiers unlock one after another in the questline. Heads up: this pack adds its own recipe for the Improved Machine Core, so don't rely on outside guides for that one.[3][5]

Step 3: Power

Oritech machines need power, and the chapter gives you several generator options. Each one runs on something different, so pick the one that fits your base.[3]

Step 4: Assembler, Pulverizer and Centrifuge

Once you have coils and motors, build the Assembler for the Putting things together quest "Putting things together" quest. It's more than a crafter: it unlocks newer items and also improves yield for some others.[3]

Next, pick up the Pulverizer for a quest in "Oritech" and the Centrifuge for a quest in "Oritech". The quest calls the Centrifuge an important machine for your future plans. With both built, you can go for the 4 Carbon Fibre Strands in a quest in "Oritech".[3]

Step 5: Your first alloy

Finally, a quest in "Oritech" asks for a Foundry and 4 Adamant Ingot. Adamant turns up in plenty of later recipes, so it's worth stocking up.[3][5]

Tip: The pack has changed Oritech's compat alloy recipes, so you can also make Adamant Ingots with Ender IO alloy smelting or Immersive Engineering alloying and its arc furnace. That's handy if you already have those mods running.[5]

How does Oritech work?

9 parts

Oritech is a tech mod built around animated machinery. Most of its machines are animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them by placing addon blocks next to them rather than slotting upgrade items into a GUI. The mod covers processing machines, world interaction machines, logistics, power generation, equipment and cybernetic augments.[1]

Two design ideas shape the whole mod. The first is that most things can be made in more than one way, so you rarely get stuck needing one rare item. Plastic, for example, can come from farming items or from oil processing. The second is renewability: fuel and items can come from large automated farms, and in the late game the bedrock extractor gives you renewable metals. Resource nodes for the extractor and oil wells spawn naturally in the world, which pushes you to build outposts and ship materials back to a central base.[1]

Machines and addons

Addons are separate blocks that attach to a machine and change how it behaves. This pack has recipes for these addon blocks:[1][5]

This recipe is modified in All the Mods 10.

The number of addons a machine can take seems to depend on its machine core. The advancement for the ultimate machine core reads "Now you can add excessive addons!", so higher core tiers let you stack more upgrades.[6]

Unverified The sources don't describe what each addon does or how many addon slots each core tier gives. Check the machine's in-game help or EMI for details. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

If you get lost in a machine screen, Oritech machine UIs can show a help button. There is a config option to enable it.[6]

Power generation

Oritech has many ways to make power, from burning fossil fuels to running sustainable farms for biofuel. All the Mods 10 raises generator output a lot compared to the mod defaults. Here are the energy per tick values this pack uses:[1][7]

Tip: Solar gets the biggest buff in this pack: 1,600 per tick instead of the mod default of 32. If you watch an Oritech video made for another pack, its solar numbers won't match what you see here.[7]

Power consumption and storage

Machines also use more power in this pack than in the base mod, roughly double or more across the board. Plan your generation to match.[7]

  • Powered furnace and pulverizer: 64 per tick each (defaults 32).[7]
  • Centrifuge and refinery: 128 per tick each (defaults 64).[7]
  • Cooler: 128 per tick (default 32).[7]
  • Foundry: 256 per tick (default 128).[7]
  • Fragment forge: 512 per tick (default 256).[7]

Energy storage is bigger to match. The small energy storage holds 5,000,000 (default 1,000,000) under storageBlocks.smallEnergyStorage.energyCapacity. The large energy storage holds 60,000,000 (default 20,000,000) under storageBlocks.largeEnergyStorage.energyCapacity.[7]

For moving power over distance, there is the Energy Transmission Pole. It's crafted using a Portable Energy Storage as one of its parts.[5]

Unverified The sources don't explain how far Energy Transmission Poles can connect or how much power they carry.

Pipes and logistics

Oritech has item, fluid and energy pipes. There is only one tier of each, and they are fast, so you don't need to upgrade them. They're also built for performance: a pipe only gets a block entity where it needs one, such as where it connects to a machine. Networks are cached, and updates are only sent when something changes. For really long distances, Oritech has drones that carry items across vast distances.[1]

In this pack, the Fluid Pipe and Pump use Ender IO compatibility recipes that the pack has changed. Check these recipes rather than the ones you remember from other packs.[5]

World interaction and farming

Oritech's automation goes beyond processing ores. It includes automated farming machines and laser arms that mine blocks for you. The laser arm is also how you mine Fluxite. In this pack the laser arm uses 512 energy per tick (default 128) and accepts up to 2,048 per tick (default 1,024).[1][6][7]

EMI has an Enderic Laser Block Destruction category that shows what the laser does to specific blocks, so look there before you point a laser at something new.[6]

The placer and fertilizer machines were made more expensive in this pack. The placer uses 16 energy to move and 128 per work action (defaults 8 and 64). The fertilizer uses 16 to move and 256 per work action (defaults 8 and 128).[7]

The nuclear reactor

The reactor is a multiblock built from parts like the Reactor Wall and the Reactor Coolant Absorber Port. All the Mods 10 retunes it heavily, so the pack's numbers are very different from the base mod's.[5][6][7]

  • Maximum multiblock size is 32, down from the default of 64, set by reactor.maxSize.[7]
  • Each reactor pulse makes 1,100 RF (default 64).[7]
  • Each energy port can output up to 125,000 RF/t (default 25,000).[7]
  • The reactor can store up to 150,000,000 RF (default 50,000,000).[7]
  • Cooling is stronger. Neutron absorbers reduce heat at a rate of 64 (default 16), and vents have a base cooling rate of 24 (default 4) and a proportional rate of 160 (default 100).[7]

Arcane machines and the tainted refinery

The Arcane Stabilizer, or catalyst, works with souls. In this pack it has a base soul capacity of 50, and each level of soul capacity adds 20 RF/t to its power use. Soul costs for the enchanter and spawner are scaled by arcane.enchanterCostMultiplier and arcane.spawnerCostMultiplier.[6][7]

If you explode a refinery next to a soul-charged catalyst, you get a tainted refinery. Place arcane blocks around it to make it more energy efficient, or sculk blocks to raise its output multiplier. EMI has categories for both how to create it and which blocks give which bonus.[6]

Machine paints

Oritech machines can be recolored with machine paints like the Orange Machine Paint, White Machine Paint, Camo Machine Paint and Sculk Machine Paint. In this pack, the recipes for the Redstone Machine Paint and Netherite Machine Paint have been changed.[1][5]

How do you progress through Oritech?

6 parts

In All the Mods 10, Oritech first shows up in Chapter 3: The ATM Star. There, "Oritech" quest asks for a single Magnetic Coil to get you going, and the follow-up quest "Manhattan Module" quest asks for the Manhattan Module. The quest text warns that you'll need a bunch of machines, many alloys and materials, and lots of time. The dedicated Oritech quest chapter is your roadmap from that first coil all the way to the Manhattan Module.[3][4]

Getting started

Almost every early quest in the Oritech chapter unlocks straight from Oritech Beginnings, so you can pick your own order. A good first target is "Basic Building Components" quest. It asks for 2 Magnetic Coil and 2 Motor, the parts that go into most machines.[3]

For power, each generator has its own quest. The Basic Generator runs on furnace fuel, the Lava Generator runs on lava, the Bio Generator needs biomass, and the Fuel Generator burns liquid fuel.[3]

Machine core tiers

Machine cores come in six tiers, and the quests walk you through them one after another. Each tier's quest unlocks after the one before it.[3][5]

  1. Primitive Machine Core comes from the "Machine Cores" quest quest.[3]
  2. Basic Machine Core has two recipes in the pack.[3][5]
  3. Improved Machine Core ("Slightly better") uses a recipe added by the pack.[3][5]
  4. Advanced Machine Core ("Its betterer").[3]
  5. Elite Machine Core ("Betterest").[3]

The Enderic Laser and Target Designator quest unlocks once you've done both the Assembler and Foundry quests. Enderic Lasers can transfer energy, transform materials, break blocks and speed up amethyst growth.[3]

Next, the laser charges amethyst into Fluxite, and the quest asks for 4 of them. Shift right-click the amethyst cluster with your Target Designator, then shift right-click the laser to set the target. The pack also lets you turn amethyst into Fluxite in an AE2 Charger or through Powah energizing.[3][5]

Ore processing branch

To process ores, you need a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon, plus a Pulverizer or Fragment Forge. The Fragment Forge improves yield on all pulverisation recipes. Centrifuging clumps with Sulfuric Acid gives you gems, while using water instead gives a lower yield.[3]

Watch out: The quest book notes that some of these recipes are currently broken and output dusts or nuggets instead.[3]

How does Oritech work with other mods?

5 parts

Oritech plugs into a lot of this pack. Every cross-mod recipe below has been changed by the pack, and the biggest change is simple: whenever Oritech produces a normal metal, you get the All the Ores version. That means Oritech's dusts, clumps, nuggets and ingots stack with what the rest of your base uses.[5]

Ore processing outputs All the Ores items

When you run raw ores through the Pulverizer, the main product is an All the Ores dust, such as Copper Dust. You also get an Oritech byproduct, such as Small Copper Dust. You can craft the small dusts and small clumps into the matching All the Ores dust or clump. You can also smelt small dusts into All the Ores nuggets.[5]

Pulverizer (oritech)

The gems from Oritech's top ore line all end up as All the Ores items. Nickel Gem and Platinum Gem smelt, blast or go through the Foundry into All the Ores ingots. The Atomic Forge turns any metal gem plus Fluxite into the matching All the Ores dust.[5]

Deep drilling also connects here: the nickel, platinum and uranium resource nodes give you All the Ores raw ores, such as Raw Platinum.[5]

Processing metals from other tech mods

Oritech also handles metals it doesn't add itself. With Sulfuric Acid, the centrifuge turns zinc, lead, osmium and tin clumps into All the Ores dusts or nuggets, plus Mineral Slurry. With Sheol Fire, the refinery turns raw zinc, aluminum, lead, silver and osmium into All the Ores dusts or clumps, and returns lava.[5]

Productive Metalworks and Mekanism alloys

Productive Metalworks can melt Oritech's metal gems, small clumps and small dusts into its molten metals. It can also alloy Oritech's own molten metals: adamant, biosteel, duratium and energite. You then cast them into ingots with an Ingot Cast. With a Gem Cast, you can also cast Fluxite and Biomass.[5]

This gives you a second way to finish the quest that asks for 8 Duratium Ingot, which hints at mixing netherite and platinum.[3][5]

Endgame

Oritech's Manhattan Module is one of many ingredients in the pack's Pulsating Black Hole recipe. That recipe also pulls in items from AE2, EvilCraft, Industrial Foregoing, Just Dire Things, Occultism, PneumaticCraft, Pocket Storage and Roots Classic.[5]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Oritech?

4 parts

Oritech shows up in two places in the questbook. It has its own full "Oritech" chapter, and it also plays a part in Chapter 3: The ATM Star, where you'll need one of its biggest crafts.[3][4]

The Oritech chapter: first steps

Almost everything in the chapter unlocks after a quest called Oritech Beginnings, so you can branch out in whatever order you like once that's done. A good place to start is "Machine Cores" quest, which asks for a Primitive Machine Core. You right-click machines with machine cores to build them. Cores don't directly change a machine's speed or efficiency. They only change how many modifiers it can take.[3]

Ore processing

The Pulverizer (a quest in "Oritech") leads to the Fragment Forge (a quest in "Oritech"), which improves yield on all pulverising recipes. The Centrifuge (a quest in "Oritech") leads to a Fluid Addon (a quest in "Oritech"). Finish both branches to unlock "Ore Processing" quest, which asks for any Oritech gem, such as Iron Gem.[3]

Watch out: The "Spinning into gems" quest quest explains that clumps processed in a centrifuge with sulphuric acid give gems, and that water also works but gives a lower yield. The quest also notes that some of these recipes are currently broken and output dusts or nuggets instead.[3]

Lasers and the Atomic Forge

Once you've finished "Putting things together" quest and the Foundry quest, a quest in "Oritech" asks for an Enderic Laser and a Target Designator. The laser opens up "Hurting Mobs" quest, 4 Fluxite from charging amethyst (a quest in "Oritech"), and Plutonium Dust (a quest in "Oritech").[3]

Fluxite and a Processing Unit (a quest in "Oritech") unlock the Flux Gate (a quest in "Oritech"). Combine that with 8 Duratium Ingot (a quest in "Oritech") and Enderic Compound (a quest in "Oritech") to reach the Atomic Forge (a quest in "Oritech"). The Atomic Forge can only be powered by Enderic Lasers.[3]

  1. Make 8 Silicon Wafer (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  2. Make 4 Advanced Computing Engine (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  3. Make 2 Super AI Chip (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  4. Make a Heisenberg Compensator (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
  5. Combine the compensator with 2 Plutonium Pellet (a quest in "Oritech") to finish the Manhattan Module (a quest in "Oritech").[3]

Alongside this, the machine core chain climbs from a quest in "Oritech" through a quest in "Oritech", a quest in "Oritech" and a quest in "Oritech" up to the Ultra Machine Core in a quest in "Oritech".[3]

Unverified The machine addon quests (speed, processing, efficiency, fluid, capacitor, acceptor and the Machine Addon Extender) and the Refinery quest depend on quests that aren't described in the available quest data, so their exact unlock requirements are unconfirmed.

Chapter 3: The ATM Star

Here "Oritech" quest only asks for a Magnetic Coil. It then leads to "Manhattan Module" quest, which asks for the same Manhattan Module you work towards in the Oritech chapter. The quest points out that the Heisenberg Compensator has 2 recipes, and both need the Atomic Forge, so working through the Oritech chapter first is the natural route.[3][4]

Which Oritech config options matter?

5 parts

All the Mods 10 rebalances Oritech's energy numbers quite a bit. Generators, energy storage and the reactor all get bigger values than the mod defaults, and many machines have higher per-tick energy values too. Here are the settings most worth knowing, with the pack's value first and the mod default in brackets.[7]

Generators

Machine energy values

Machine per-tick energy values are also raised, so plan your power lines with that in mind.[7]

  • Pulverizer and powered furnace: 64 each (default 32).[7]
  • Centrifuge and refinery: 128 each (default 64). Cooler: 128 (default 32).[7]
  • Foundry: 256 (default 128). Fragment forge: 512 (default 256).[7]
  • Laser arm: machineSettings.laserArmConfig.energyPerTick is 512 (default 128), and max insertion is 2,048 (default 1,024).[7]
  • Fertilizer: move energy usage is 16 (default 8) and work energy usage is 256 (default 128). Placer: move usage is 16 (default 8) and work usage is 128 (default 64).[7]

Unverified The config files don't say directly whether energyPerTick means output or usage. For generators it most likely means RF produced and for machines RF consumed, but the pack files don't confirm this.

Energy storage

The small energy storage holds 5,000,000 RF (default 1,000,000) and the large one holds 60,000,000 RF (default 20,000,000). Their transfer rates are not changed. The small one moves 5,000 in and out, and the large one moves 10,000.[7]

Reactor

  • reactor.rfPerPulse is 1,100 RF per pulse (default 64).[7]
  • reactor.reactorMaxEnergyOutput is 125,000 RF/t per energy port (default 25,000), and max stored energy is 150,000,000 RF (default 50,000,000).[7]
  • Cooling is stronger. The neutron absorber rate is 64 (default 16), the vent base rate is 24 (default 4), and the vent proportional rate is 160 (default 100).[7]
  • reactor.maxSize is lowered to 32 (default 64), so the maximum multiblock size is smaller in this pack.[7]
Watch out: reactor.safeMode is off in this pack, so an overheated reactor will explode instead of cooling down. Meltdown happens at 2,000 heat, and an overheated reactor explodes after 600 ticks. reactor.boringNukes is on, but that only disables the fancy explosion effects.[7]

What changed in Oritech between versions?

1 part

Oritech joined All the Mods 10 in pack version 4.0 at mod version 0.16.2. It's been updated many times since then, and All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Oritech 1.2.11.[2][9]

Update timeline

Here are the Oritech version changes from the pack changelogs, starting with its arrival in 4.0 and ending with the current 8.1 release.[9][10]

  • Pack 4.0: Oritech added at version 0.16.2.[9]
  • Pack 4.5: updated from 0.16.2 to 0.17.3.[11]
  • Pack 4.12: updated from 0.17.3 to 0.18.1.[12]
  • Pack 4.13: updated from 0.18.1 to 0.18.2.[13]
  • Pack 4.15: updated from 0.18.2 to 0.19.4.[14]
  • Pack 5.2: updated from 0.19.4 to 0.19.5.[15]
  • Pack 5.3: updated from 0.19.5 to 0.19.6.[16]
  • Pack 5.5: updated from 0.19.6 to 1.0.0.[17]
  • Pack 6.0: updated from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1.[18]
  • Pack 6.2: updated from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0.[19]
  • Pack 7.0: updated from 1.1.0 to 1.2.6.[20]
  • Pack 7.1: updated from 1.2.6 to 1.2.8.[21]
  • Pack 7.2: updated from 1.2.8 to 1.2.9.[22]
  • Pack 7.3: updated from 1.2.9 to 1.2.10.[23]
  • Pack 8.1: updated from 1.2.10 to 1.2.11.[10]

To check which build you're running, look for the jar file oritech-neoforge-1.21.1-1.2.11.jar. That's the one the 8.1 pack uses.[2]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record version numbers, and none of the mod's own changelogs were available. That means the specific features, fixes or balance changes in each Oritech update could not be confirmed for this guide. This includes the bigger jumps such as 0.19.6 to 1.0.0 and 1.1.0 to 1.2.6. If a machine or recipe works differently than it did in an older video or world, check the in-game recipe viewer for how it works in your current version. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
