Create is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 6.0.10. Aesthetic Technology that empowers the Player (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

Stuck? Why it might not be working

  • A factory gauge shows ? and will not link
In All the Mods 10 8.2, Create 6.0.10, a factory gauge shows ? and sends nothing while any saved link position on its frequency is not loaded. Redstone 1 to 14 does not choose which stock link is asked, and signal 15 removes the link. A recipe gauge sends again when a null inventory was stored as an empty snapshot and the next real read subtracts the whole inventory from the promise.

What is Create?

2 parts

Create is the pack's hands-on engineering mod: a set of tools and blocks for building, decoration and what its authors call aesthetic automation. Instead of playing the game inside a stack of menus, you build contraptions out of animated components that visibly spin, push and carry things around, and you get to decide how they're arranged. Its built-in visual documentation, Ponder, walks you through every mechanic and gadget in-game, and having JEI up is strongly recommended so you can actually see the recipes you need.[1]

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Create 6.0.10 for Minecraft 1.21.1, so everything in this guide describes that version as it behaves in this pack.[2]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack gives Create its own quest chapter, and the early quests lay out a clear route. Andesite Alloy comes first, since it's the crafting ingredient for almost all of Create's machines and items, so expect to make a lot of it. From there the quests split into rotational power, item logistics and the quality-of-life gear you'll use constantly.[3]

The ATM Star path

Create isn't optional flavour here: it shows up directly in Chapter 3: The ATM Star. The Nexium Emitter needs something to move it, which is either Mechanical Arm from "Mechanical Arm" quest or Modern Industrialization's Large Advanced Motor, and Philosopher's Fuel takes either a Blaze Burner from "Blaze Burner" quest or Uranium Quad Fuel Rods.[4]

Tip: If you're weighing the two options, the pack's own quest text points at the Blaze Burner as the easier craft of that pair: you capture a Blaze in an empty burner by right-clicking it, and Blazes spawn in Nether structures.[4]
Watch out: The Mechanical Arm route runs through Precision Mechanism, which the quest warns is the hard part: it needs a deployer-and-belt line feeding a Gold Plate through several steps, and there's a 20% chance you don't get the item at the end. Build a few at once.[4]

How do you get started with Create?

4 parts

Create is all about contraptions of animated components working together, and the pack's quest chapter walks you through them in order. Start with the material everything else needs: Andesite Alloy. It's Create's most important resource, and it barely does anything on its own: it's the crafting ingredient for almost all machines and items, so make a stack more than you think you need.[1][3][5]

The "Andesite Alloys" quest quest is your first stop in the chapter, and Andesite Alloy is what unlocks everything after it.[3]

Turn alloy into rotation

Every machine needs Rotational Power, which is just your machines moving. Shafts and cogs carry that power from a source to your machines. Shafts can be placed in a straight line next to each other, and when one moves, every shaft connected to it on the same axis moves with it.[3]

Cogwheels come next, and a Large Cogwheel lets you change speed between cog sizes. You can also upgrade a small cog into a large one instead of starting from a shaft.[6]

The two tools you'll carry forever

The Wrench is the Swiss Army knife of Create. Right click a Create block to rotate it, shift right click to break it, and use it to set block configs. It's also how you set up contraptions later. The "Wrench" quest quest covers it.[3]

Engineer's Goggles are the other must-have. Worn on your head, they read out almost everything a block has to tell you: how much stress a Stressometer is reporting and how much it can take, the speed in your system from a Speedometer, boiler size, water and heat, and the stress units machines like Deployers and Mechanical Presses are eating.[3]

Casings and your first machines

Once you have alloy, make Andesite Casing: strip a log with an axe, then right click the stripped wood with an Andesite Alloy. Casing is needed for many, many machines and looks great as decoration too. That's the "Machines" quest quest.[3][5]

With casing in hand, the Mechanical Press and Millstone are strong first picks: the press makes sheets and the millstone pulverises materials, both of which feed later recipes.[5][6]

You'll also want a Mechanical Mixer and a Basin fairly early: combining ingredients in a mixer over a basin is how you get Brass Ingots from copper and zinc, and it needs to be Blaze-heated to do it.[5][6]

Heat and item movement

For heated recipes you need a Blaze Burner. Right click a Blaze with an empty burner to fill it, then feed it: furnace fuels like wood or coal get it Heated, while Blaze Cake makes it Super-Heated, which is hotter than Orange Hot. Automated brewing, mixing and the steam boiler all want heat.[3]

Finally, get items moving. Mechanical Belt attaches to two shafts; the belt runs at the same speed and direction as the shafts it spans, and can be placed horizontal, vertical or diagonal at 45-degree angles. Items on a belt can't be picked up off it by walking mobs and won't despawn, and you can right click a belt to pull an item off. The "Item Logistics" quest quest is your entry point here.[3]

Tip: Create ships an in-game visual guide called Ponder that walks you through each mechanic and gadget, and you'll want JEI installed to see all of Create's recipes, the vanilla recipe book can't guide you through it.[1]

How does Create work?

11 parts

Create isn't a mod you play through menus. Almost everything happens in the world as animated components working together, and the mod ships its own visual in-game documentation called Ponder to walk you through each block's mechanics. Keep JEI open alongside it, because the vanilla recipe book can't guide you through Create on its own.[1]

Tip: Whenever you place a new Create block and aren't sure what it does, open its Ponder scene first. It's the mod's intended tutorial and it covers every added mechanic and gadget.[1]

Rotational force

Everything in Create runs on rotation. Your first sources of torque are the Water Wheel, an assembled windmill and the Hand Crank for quick manual bursts; later you graduate to the Steam Engine, which generates torque from a boiler. Windmills can be assembled at varying strengths, and boilers can be pushed all the way to their maximum level of power.[5]

Rotation is carried between machines by Shaft and by Mechanical Belts, which connect two shafts together. To change how fast that rotation moves, connect a Large Cogwheel to a Small Cogwheel (that's the basic gear shift) or use a Rotation Speed Controller when you need to fine-tune a contraption to an exact speed.[5]

Every machine you add draws on the network's stress capacity. To see exactly how loaded a network is, wear Engineer's Goggles and look at a Stressometer; it will read out the current load, up to a full 100% readout when you've maxed the network.[5]

Casings and materials

Andesite Alloy is Create's most important resource and the gateway to the first machine tier. Machines are then built around casings: Andesite Casing for the basic tier, Brass Casing for the more sophisticated machines, and Copper Casing as the waterproof option for fluid work. Brass itself is alloyed in a Mechanical Mixer heated by a Blaze Burner.[5]

Further up the chain you'll refine Powdered Obsidian into Sturdy Sheets, polish Rose Quartz, and assemble the Precision Mechanism, the component-crafting item that gates Create's most advanced gear.[5]

Processing machines

Most of Create's ore and food processing comes from a handful of powered blocks, each with its own recipe type:[5]

  • The Millstone pulverises materials on its own, while a pair of powered Crushing Wheels does the same job at far higher throughput and can be run right up to maximum speed.[5]
  • The Mechanical Press makes sheets, and when placed over a Basin it performs compacting, turning more items into fewer.[5]
  • The Mechanical Mixer combines ingredients in a Basin, and with a Blaze Burner underneath it handles heated recipes such as alloying.[5]
  • An upright Mechanical Saw processes materials placed in front of it.[5]
  • The Encased Fan pushes air through fire, water, lava or ice to perform fan processing: washing, smelting and the like.[5]
  • The Deployer acts as a stand-in for you, using items and tools on whatever is in front of it.[5]
  • Mechanical Crafters chained together handle multi-step crafting automatically; they can be deliberately slowed right down if you feed them very low speed.[5]

Moving items around

Funnels extract from and insert into containers, Chutes move items vertically, and belts carry them horizontally. For more flexible routing, the Mechanical Arm picks items up and delivers them to targets you program in: it can handle 10 or more output locations from a single arm, including odd jobs like feeding a Blaze Burner. The Weighted Ejector launches items (and players) across gaps, with enough range to throw you more than 30 blocks.[5]

Filters are what make all of this precise. List Filter matches a list of items, Attribute Filter matches by item properties, and Package Filter handles Create's packages. All three can be wiped back to blank on a crafting grid if you want to reuse them.[6]

Fluids

Fluid Pipes and the Mechanical Pump move liquids around; the pulling end of a pipe or pump is what collects water from a source, and pipes can even draw honey straight out of a Bee Nest or Beehive. Wrenching a pipe that contains fluid turns it into a windowed pipe so you can watch the contents. Watch out when two different fluids meet in the same network.[5]

For bulk work, the Hose Pulley lowers into a body of fluid to drain or fill it, and a large enough lava lake counts as infinite. On the item side, the Spout fills fluid-containing items from above and the Item Drain empties them as they roll across it, you can chain several drains in a row for continuous emptying.[5]

Steam and boilers

Fluid Tanks double as boilers: heat them, attach Steam Engines, and you get torque scaled to the boiler's power level. Steam Whistles mounted on a tank play notes, and a single Fluid Tank can carry up to 12 uniquely pitched whistles if you want a working pipe organ.[5]

Contraptions

Contraptions are groups of blocks that move as one. Super Glue binds loose blocks into a group, bearings (including the Clockwork Bearing) spin assembled structures, and the Rope Pulley raises and lowers them, it can extend over 200 blocks deep. Minecart Contraptions can carry at least 200 attached blocks, and with a Deployer on board they'll even place track in front of themselves as they go.[5]

Contraptions aren't just scenery: drills, saws and harvesters mounted on them keep working while they move, and a Portable Storage Interface lets you push items into or pull them out of a moving contraption from a fixed point.[5]

Trains

Train Tracks, Train Casing made from Sturdy Sheets and a bearing get you an assembled Train. Trains can be built out to 6 or more carriages, driven by a conductor following a Train Schedule, and managed on shared track with Train Signals. They can pass through portals, and Train Seats will happily carry you thousands of blocks: over 5,000 blocks from where you started, if you're patient. Display Links can forecast a train's arrival on a Display Board.[5]

Watch out: Signals matter: running a red signal or reversing into another train will cause a crash, and passengers are along for the ride when it happens.[5]

Packages and requests

Create's logistics layer works with cardboard packages. A Packager boxes items up from an inventory, Chain Conveyors carry packages across your base, and a Frogport catches them at the destination. A Stock Ticker lets you employ a mob and place item requests against your network, while Factory Gauges trigger those package requests automatically when stock runs low. A Table Cloth turns a block into a small shop you can put items up for sale on.[5]

Control and readouts

Redstone Link pairs transmit redstone wirelessly, and the Linked Controller activates those links from your hand. Display Links visualise information from blocks onto displays such as Display Boards. The Clipboard keeps notes, and it also copies settings like filters from one block with a right-click and applies them elsewhere with a left-click, a huge time-saver when you're configuring a row of identical machines.[5]

For rails, the Controller Rail is a uni-directional powered rail whose speed varies with the redstone signal strength you feed it.[5]

Gear and gadgets

A Copper Backtank accumulates air pressure while it's driven, and paired with a Copper Diving Helmet it becomes a diving suit for extended underwater work. Netherite diving gear goes a step further and survives a dip in lava. Other handheld tools include the Extendo Grip for extra reach and the Potato Cannon.[5]

How do you progress through Create?

5 parts

Create's quest chapter in this pack is a tree, not a straight line. A few quests sit at the root and open immediately, and almost everything else hangs off two branches: "Andesite Alloys" quest for machines and rotation, and "Item Logistics" quest for moving items around.[3]

Tier 1: Andesite

"Andesite Alloys" quest is the real gate. Andesite Alloy is the crafting ingredient for nearly every machine, and it immediately splits into two follow-ups: "Rotational Power" quest for Shaft and "Machines" quest for Andesite Casing, which you make by applying an alloy to a stripped log.[3]

With casing in hand the andesite machine quests open up: "Mechanical Press" quest, "Encased Fan" quest, "Mechanical Mixer" quest and "Deployer" quest all follow Machines. Off the rotation side you get the transmission set instead: "Gearbox" quest, "Clutch" quest, "Gearshift" quest, "Encased Chain Drives" quest and "Cogwheels!" quest.[3]

Item logistics branch

"Item Logistics" quest starts you on Mechanical Belt and then fans out into "Andesite Funnel" quest, "Andesite Tunnel" quest, "Brass Funnel" quest, "Brass Tunnel" quest, "Chute" quest, "Depot" quest and "Item Vaults" quest. "Smart Chute" quest sits one step further, behind the Chute.[3]

Copper tier: fluids

The fluid line runs through "Copper Casings" quest; copper casing is made the same way as andesite casing, just with a copper ingot on a stripped log. From there you get "Spout" quest and "Hose Pulley" quest, while "Fluid Pipe" quest and "Fluid Tanks" quest cover the plumbing itself. "Basin" quest is the crossover point: it needs both the Fluid Pipe and Item Logistics quests done.[3]

Tip: A single Fluid Tank holds 8 buckets, or 8,000mB, and tanks merge when placed together: stacked up to 32 tall, or built as 2x2 or 3x3 columns. The Hose Pulley only buffers 1.5 buckets (1,500mB) on its own, so pipe it into tanks.[3]

Brass, trains and packages

Past andesite and copper the chapter keeps climbing: "Brass Casing" quest and "Precision Mechanism" quest unlock the smart gear like "Sequenced Gearshift" quest, "Mechanical Arm" quest and "Mechanical Crafter" quest, then the rail block runs through "Train Tracks" quest, "Train Stations" quest, "Train Signals" quest and "Trains" quest.[3]

The newest line, "Create 1.21" quest, is gated behind a working Mechanical Mixer and Basin, because Cardboard is made from pulp mixed in a basin and then pressed. That's what opens "Packagers" quest, "Chain Conveyor" quest, "Package Frogport" quest, "Stock Ticker" quest and "Stock Link" quest.[3]

Unverified The exact unlock order inside the brass, train and package sections isn't visible in the quest data available here, so treat that last stretch as a grouping rather than a strict chain.

Tip: Create shows up in the ATM Star chapter too: "Blaze Burner" quest asks for a captured Blaze Burner, which is exchanged for Uranium Quad Fuel Rods to make Philosopher's Fuel, and there's a "Mechanical Arm" quest task alongside it. Worth keeping an extra burner around.[4]

One pack-specific bonus: the Wrench isn't only a Create craft here. Ars Technica adds an enchanting apparatus recipe that produces one as well.[6]

How does Create work with other mods?

4 parts

Create doesn't sit in its own corner in this pack. Its ore products feed AllTheOres, its machines and materials show up in Ars Nouveau's magic chain, a stack of Create addons build directly on its blocks, and two of its items are gates on the ATM Star path. Here's where those wires actually connect.[4][6]

Ore processing hands off to AllTheOres

The pack rewrote Create's crushed ore smelting so it feeds the pack's unified ore set. Blasting Crushed Raw Aluminum, Crushed Raw Lead and Crushed Raw Silver gives you Aluminum Ingot, Lead Ingot and Silver Ingot, and Crushed Raw Tin gives Tin Ingot. That means crushing wheels are a valid front end for basically any AllTheOres-based processing line.[6]

Ars Nouveau, Ars Technica and Ars Creo

Ars Technica is the main bridge between Create and the Ars family. Its Calibrated Precision Mechanism is built from a Create Precision Mechanism on the Enchanting Apparatus, and that part then goes into the Source Motor, the Mark of Technomancy, the Pressure thread (which also wants a Copper Backtank) and a Runic Spanner upgrade that returns an upgraded Wrench.[6]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_technica:calibrated_precision_mechanism

The gateway part for everything else in Ars Technica.

Several Ars Technica glyphs are also learned from Create items: Press uses a Mechanical Press, Apply uses a Brass Hand, Polish uses Sand Paper, and Superheat uses a Blaze Cake. On the armour side, Engineer's Goggles are part of the Artificer's Cap, Machinaguard's Helmet and Technomancer's Hat upgrades, and the pack changed those three to take the Ars Elemental Mark of Mastery, alongside the mod's default versions that use the Mark of Technomancy.[6]

Ars Creo keeps it simple: a Starbuncle Charm plus a Water Wheel gets you the Starbuncle Wheel.[6]

Create addons built on Create's own blocks

Create Enchantment Industry leans hardest on the base mod. It grinds Nugget of Experience and Block of Experience into Liquid Experience and compacts it back, presses experience blocks into Enchanting Template, and builds its Printer and Mechanical Grindstone from Create parts. Its three blaze upgrades all start from a Blaze Burner and a smithing template from Create: Dragons Plus, and the Experience Hatch is an item application onto that mod's Fluid Hatch, which the pack itself changed to be crafted from a Create Item Drain.[6]

The pack also pushed Enchantment Industry's high end into Apotheosis. Infuser and Affix Augmentor now want Apotheosis pearls next to Create's Nixie Tube and Spout, the Ender Woven Bag takes an Ender Lead, and the Brass Bookshelf sequenced assembly now runs through an Pearlescent Endshelf.[6]

Pack-modified: an Apotheosis pearl sits at the centre.

Create Hypertube runs on Create logistics parts: Cogwheel, Smart Chute, Precision Mechanism, Transmitter, Brass Hand and Electron Tube all appear in its blocks. Create Aquatic Ambitions puts a Fluid Pipe into its Conduit Cage and adds crushing recipes that drop Nugget of Experience, including a pack-changed prismarine brick recipe that also gives Copper Nugget. Bells and Whistles is pure decoration: Andesite Alloy, Create's polished cut stones and the Ornate Iron Window turn into train trim.[6]

The ATM Star path

Two Create items are hard requirements late game. A Blaze Burner is one of the options for Philosopher's Fuel, and the quest points out you can hand it in instead of Uranium Quad Fuel Rods. A Mechanical Arm goes into the Nexium Emitter alongside parts from Advanced AE, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Modern Industrialization and Powah.[4][6]

Tip: Grab the "Blaze Burner" quest and "Mechanical Arm" quest quests in the ATM Star chapter early: both items are cheap by the time you're star hunting, so there's no reason to be caught short.[4]

And once you already have an ATM Star, Create gets something back: the pack adds a mechanical crafting recipe that turns a star and one of nearly every cake in the pack into a Creative Blaze Cake.[6]

Pack-added. Yes, you need all of the cakes.

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Create?

5 parts

Create gets its own quest chapter, simply called Create, and almost every entry is a "hand in the machine" task: craft the block, turn it in, read the write-up, move on. The chapter fans out from a handful of starter quests into four big branches (rotation, machines, item logistics and fluid logistics) so you can follow whichever one you need first.[3]

Where the chapter starts

The first tier hangs directly off the chapter's opening entry and asks for the basics you will use all game: "Andesite Alloys" quest wants an Andesite Alloy, "Item Logistics" quest wants a Mechanical Belt, "Wrench" quest wants a Wrench, "Super-Glue" quest wants Super Glue and "Engineer's Goggles" quest wants Engineer's Goggles. "Blaze Burner" quest sits on its own and asks for a Blaze Burner, which you will need later for heated recipes like brewing and mixing.[3]

Andesite Alloys is the real gateway. Finishing it opens "Rotational Power" quest (a Shaft) and "Machines" quest (an Andesite Casing), and those two feed the rest of the tree.[3]

The rotation branch

The machine branch

Machines unlocks the processing blocks: "Mechanical Press" quest (Mechanical Press), "Encased Fan" quest (Encased Fan), "Mechanical Mixer" quest (Mechanical Mixer), "Deployer" quest (Deployer), "Millstone" quest (Millstone) and "Crushing Wheels" quest (Crushing Wheel). "Contraptions" quest needs both Machines and Super-Glue done, and asks you to hand in Super Glue and an Andesite Casing.[3]

Tip: Crushing Wheels is the heaviest entry in this branch: the quest points out you need Mechanical Crafters and a pile of Andesite Alloys to make them, and two wheels to actually crush anything.[3]

The item logistics branch

Item Logistics opens a wide row of quests: "Andesite Funnel" quest, "Brass Funnel" quest, "Andesite Tunnel" quest, "Brass Tunnel" quest, "Chute" quest, "Depot" quest, "Item Vaults" quest and "Create 1.21" quest, each asking for its matching block. Two follow-ups sit behind those: "Smart Chute" quest after Chute, and "Weighted Ejector" quest after Depot.[3]

"Create 1.21" quest is the one that points at the newer Create content: it asks for Cardboard, which you press from pulp, and that in turn leads into the newer blocks.[3]

The fluid branch

The fluid quests sit behind a Fluid Logistics entry rather than Andesite Alloys. "Fluid Pipe" quest, "Fluid Tanks" quest and "Copper Casings" quest come first, then Fluid Pipe unlocks "Mechanical Pump" quest and "Smart Fluid Pipe" quest, while Copper Casings unlocks "Spout" quest and "Hose Pulley" quest.[3]

Unverified The Create chapter also contains later entries for trains, contraption hardware and package logistics, but the ordering and prerequisites for those parts aren't covered by the quest data available here.

Which Create config options matter?

There's nothing to report here yet. No Create config files from this pack were available when this page was written, so there's no way to confirm which options All the Mods 10 changed from the mod's defaults.[1]

Unverified Any specific Create config values for this pack version, including kinetic stress limits, contraption size caps, world generation toggles and client rendering options, are unverified. Check the pack's config folder in your instance before relying on a number you read elsewhere.

Tip: One thing you don't need to configure: since Create 0.5.1 the Flywheel rendering library ships with the mod, so there's no separate install or setup step for it.[1]

What changed in Create between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Create 6.0.10, in the file create-1.21.1-6.0.10.jar. It's been part of the pack since at least version 2.39, so if you've been playing along since the early builds, Create has been with you the whole way.[2]

Across the pack's releases Create has only moved forward in small patch steps, from 6.0.2 to the 6.0.10 you're running now. There were no major version jumps, so worlds carried over between pack updates without Create changing shape underneath you.[2][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]

Update timeline

  • All the Mods 10 2.39 added Create 6.0.2 to the pack.[13]
  • All the Mods 10 2.40 updated Create from 6.0.2 to 6.0.3.[12]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42 updated Create from 6.0.3 to 6.0.4.[11]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0 updated Create from 6.0.4 to 6.0.6.[10]
  • All the Mods 10 4.15 updated Create from 6.0.6 to 6.0.8.[9]
  • All the Mods 10 5.5 updated Create from 6.0.8 to 6.0.9.[8]
  • All the Mods 10 7.0 updated Create from 6.0.9 to 6.0.10, the version in 8.1.[2][7]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record which Create version each release shipped, not what changed inside those versions. The mod's own per-version changelogs were not available, so the specific bug fixes, features and balance tweaks in each 6.0.x patch are unverified here.

Tip: If you're updating an older All the Mods 10 world, check which pack version you were on and you can read straight off the list above which Create patches you're jumping over.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
