What is All The Mons?

3 parts

All The Mons adds Pokéball-style capture gear built from the pack's top-tier metals: Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium. This pack ships version 0.6.2 of the mod.[1][2]

It's for you if you've got a Pokémon-style setup running and want an endgame progression for your balls. The main quest line is the "Master Ball" chapter, which walks you through the whole chain.[2]

How the progression works

You start with apricorns. In The Other you'll find Apricorn Trees that grow Allthemodium Apricorn and Vibranium Apricorn. They behave like normal Apricorn Trees: you can pluck the apricorns, chop the tree down for wood, and replant. For Unobtainium Apricorn, you trade with a Poké Mart Trader.[2]

From there the quests have you cut apricorns into halves such as Half Vibranium Apricorn, and make apricorn bits, plates, ball bases and mechanisms in each metal. You end up with the Allthemodium Ball, Vibranium Ball and Unobtainium Ball.[2]

Ancient balls

The top step is the Ancient version of each ball. Ancient Mechanisms are made almost like normal ones, but cost a whole Ingot instead of a Nugget. They are the only way to craft the Ancient Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium Balls, for example the Ancient Vibranium Ball.[2]

The Ancient Lids add Tumblestone to the normal lid. The Ancient Unobtainium Ball Lid is an upgrade of the Ancient Vibranium Lid, made with a Block of Unobtainium and Unobtainium Apricorn Bits.[2]

Other content

The pack also has an "ATM Team" quest chapter that includes the ATM Badge Box, and a "Legendaries" chapter.[3][4]

Unverified The sources don't show where this mod sits on the ATM Star path, and the Legendaries chapter's contents were not readable, so how those quests work is unconfirmed.

How do you get started with All The Mons?

7 parts

A great first project in this pack is crafting your own Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium Poké Balls. The pack's quest book covers them in its Master Ball chapter, and the order below follows the same chain: Apricorns, halves, bits, bases, lids, mechanisms, then the finished ball.[2]

Get metal Apricorns

Head to The Other. It has Apricorn Trees that grow Allthemodium Apricorn and Vibranium Apricorn. They work like normal Apricorn Trees: pluck the Apricorns, chop the tree for wood, and replant to get more trees. Once you have those two, you can trade with a Poké Mart Trader for Unobtainium Apricorn.[2]

The pack also changes the Botany Pots crop recipe for these Apricorns, so you can grow them in a pot. The block below shows the exact in-pack version for the Allthemodium one.[5]

Crop (botanypots)

Recipe id: allthemons:botanypots/crop/allthemodium_apricorn

Cut them into halves, then bits

Each Apricorn has to be cut in half. The quest suggests a Mechanical Saw, a Sawmill, a Fragment Forge or a whole Assembly Line. The recipe list also has a grinder version. The halves then become Apricorn Bits, which you need for the lids.[2][5]

Halves into bits. There is also an Atomic Forge recipe for this.

Make the ball bases

The ball base is made from a metal plate in the Atomic Forge. The quest for the bases says you'll need 2 of them.[2][5]

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/allthemodium_ball_base

Craft the lids

Lids are crafted in the Atomic Forge. The quest describes the cost as a Bit, a Blank Lid and a block's worth of ingot. The Unobtainium Ball Lid recipe also takes a Vibranium Ball Lid, so make the Vibranium one first.[2][5]

This one builds on the Vibranium lid.

Build the mechanism

Each metal ball needs its own special mechanism. The Assembler recipe uses a nugget of the metal, a ball base and a Create shaft. Make the mechanism before the final ball.[2][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/allthemodium_ball_mechanism

Assemble the ball

Combine the lid, the mechanism, a Blank Lid and an iron rod to finish the Allthemodium Ball. The recipe shown here is the Assembler one. The quests also mention a Pressure Chamber and Create for the ancient balls.[2][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/allthemodium_ball

Why bother?

  • The Allthemodium Ball has a 4x chance of catching any Pokémon.[2]
  • The Vibranium Ball has a 6x chance.[2]
  • The Unobtainium Ball has a 10x chance, rising to 30x for Legendaries.[2][6]
Tip: Ancient balls come later. Ancient mechanisms are made almost the same way as normal ones, but they cost a whole ingot instead of a nugget. They are the only way to craft the Ancient Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium Balls.[2][5]

How does All The Mons work?

7 parts

The sources for this mod explain three systems in detail: a Pikachu-powered generator, an egg incubator, and a chain of assembler recipes for the special Poké Balls. Here is what they say about each one.[5][6]

Pika Power generator

The Pika Power Base is the heart of this generator. It is two blocks tall and makes its own rotation, so you don't need shafts, cogs or stress to run it. Nothing has to hold it up, but keep the block underneath clear, because that face is the only one it gives energy back out of.[6]

Crafted in a normal crafting grid.

Building it

  1. Place the Pika Power Base.[6]
  2. Ring the base with belts, two segments to a side, so the loop closes all the way round. Every side of the ring is driven from the base, so the whole loop runs one way round and the Pokémon all face with it.[6]
  3. Cap the base with a Lightning Rod. The charge arcs up into its tip.[6]

Powering it up

Right click the base to open its Power Mice panel. From there you can send up to eight Pikachu out of your PC and onto the belts. Each one holds its own spot on the belt and runs in place.[6]

Every Pikachu adds power in step with its level, so a full ring of high levels produces the most. The base stores the charge as FE. To pull the power out, run a cable from its bottom face.[6]

Tip: Don't build anything in the block under the base that would stop a cable reaching it. The bottom face is the only side the energy comes out of.[6]

Pokémon Egg Incubator

The Pokemon Egg Incubator makes eggs hatch faster. If you put a ball on top of it, the hatched Pokémon goes straight to your party. It is made in the Oritech assembler rather than a crafting grid.[5][6]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/pokemon_egg_incubator

Special Poké Balls and the assembler

The pack's special balls are made in the assembler, and the Unobtainium line shows the pattern: you assemble a mechanism first, then assemble the finished ball with that mechanism.[5]

First the mechanism, made in the assembler.

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/unobtainium_ball

Then the finished ball, also made in the assembler.

The Ancient versions follow the same pattern, mechanism first and then the ball. For example, the Ancient Unobtainium Ball needs its own Ancient Unobtainium Ball Mechanism.[5]

How do you progress through All The Mons?

6 parts

The main progression in this pack is a ball-crafting ladder. You start with Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium Apricorns, work them into mechanisms, lids and bases, and finish with ever-better Poké Balls. Past that, the Legendaries and the ATM Team badges are the endgame. The Master Ball quest chapter walks you through the ladder, and I'll follow it here.[2][3][4]

Tier 1: Metal Apricorns

Everything begins with the "Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest quest. You find Allthemodium and Vibranium Apricorn Trees in The Other. They act like normal Apricorn Trees, so you can pluck the fruit, chop the tree for wood and replant it. The final metal, Unobtainium, comes from trading with a Poké Mart Trader.[2]

You can also farm them. The pack has Botany Pots crop entries for Allthemodium Apricorn, Vibranium Apricorn and Unobtainium Apricorn. Each takes its matching seed on a dirt-type soil, and the pack marks these entries as changed from the mod's own.[5]

Tier 2: Halves, Bits, Bases and Mechanisms

Next you cut each Apricorn in half, which the "Half Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest quest covers. The pack gives you several ways to do it: a Create cutting recipe, Mekanism sawing, or an Oritech grinder. The halves then become Allthemodium Apricorn Bits, Vibranium Apricorn Bits and Unobtainium Apricorn Bits. You can make those with cutting, sawing or an Atomic Forge.[2][5]

Ball bases start from metal plates. You can stamp a plate into a stamped plate lid with a Lid rubber stamp, using either Create deploying or a Mekanism stamper. A lathe then turns that into a base. Alternatively, an Atomic Forge turns a plate straight into a base. The "Allthemodium Metal Ball Bases" quest quest warns that you'll need 2 of them.[2][5]

A mechanism is a nugget of the matching metal, a base and a Create shaft, combined in the Assembler. Here is the Allthemodium one.[2][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/allthemodium_ball_mechanism

Tier 3: Lids and the Metal Balls

Allthemodium and Vibranium lids are made in an Atomic Forge from a block of the metal, that metal's Apricorn Bits and a blank ball lid. Unobtainium is a step up: its lid starts from a Vibranium Ball Lid instead of a blank one.[2][5]

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/unobtainium_ball_lid

The final ball is a lid, a mechanism and an iron rod. Allthemodium and Vibranium balls also need a blank ball lid, while the Unobtainium ball doesn't. The "Allthemodium Vibranium and Unobtainium Balls" quest quest gives the catch rates: Allthemodium Ball has a 4x chance, Vibranium Ball has 6x, and Unobtainium Ball has 10x, rising to 30x for Legendaries.[2][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/unobtainium_ball

Ancient Balls

Ancient Balls are the next rung. They need Ancient Mechanisms, which are made almost like normal ones but cost a whole ingot instead of a nugget. The a quest in "Master Ball" quest says they are the only way to craft the Ancient Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium Balls.[2][5]

Watch out: Ancient Mechanisms cost an ingot each, not a nugget, so budget your Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium before you start this tier.[2][5]
  • Ancient Allthemodium and Vibranium lids are the normal lid plus Tumblestone Dust. You can use an Atomic Forge, or Mekanism's Metallurgic Infuser. See Ancient Allthemodium Ball Lid and Ancient Vibranium Ball Lid.[2][5]
  • Ancient Unobtainium Ball Lid is an upgrade of the Ancient Vibranium lid. The Atomic Forge combines it with a block of Unobtainium and Unobtainium Apricorn Bits.[2][5]
  • The Ancient Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium balls all use an Apricorn Wood lid, except the Unobtainium one, which doesn't list it in its Assembler recipe. Each also needs the matching ancient lid, the ancient mechanism and an iron rod.[5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/ancient_vibranium_ball

Great Ball of Fire

The Great Ball of Fire is a side branch. Its lid comes from filling a Great Ball Lid with Soul Lava, giving Great Ball of Fire Lid. The ball itself needs that lid, a blank lid, a Sturdy Mechanism and an iron rod. It has a 2x chance on almost every type, but 50x on Fire types and 0x on Water types, so skip it for Mudkips.[2][5]

Endgame: Badges and Legendaries

The ATM Badge Box holds the badges you earn by beating ATM Team members, and it unlocks after you beat Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. In the Elite Gym the chain runs from "CesarZorak" quest through "_Rosary_" quest, "Satherov" quest, "Uncandango" quest, "Thevortex" quest and "Whatthedrunk" quest, finishing with "Notch" quest.[3]

Beating Notch rewards you with an Ancient DNA Sample. The "Capturing Mewtwo" quest quest uses it with an Unbound Pika Star in the Fossil Analyzer to clone Mewtwo.[3]

Legendaries, Mythicals, Ultra Beasts and Paradox species can't be battled or caught until you carry the regional Pika Star for their home region. Even then you must beat each one in battle before a ball will hold it. The "Catching Legendaries" quest chapter groups them by how you find them. Some rituals are demanding. For example, the pack's altar recipe for the Deoxys Crystal uses an Ancient DNA Sample and a Plutonium Pellet.[4][5]

Unverified The Shiny Pika Star and Unbound Pika Star rites are only mentioned in passing in the sources available for this section, so their requirements aren't covered here.

How does All The Mons work with other mods?

3 parts

The Mons side of this pack is a bridge between Cobblemon and a whole stack of tech mods. Almost every metal ball part can be made in more than one machine, so you can build with whatever setup you already have running.[2][5]

Metal balls and the machines that make them

  • Oritech: the Atomic Forge makes the metal ball bases and ball lids, such as Allthemodium Ball Base and Allthemodium Ball Lid. The Oritech Assembler makes the mechanisms and the finished balls.[5]
  • PneumaticCraft: an Assembly Drill recipe makes each ball base, and the Pressure Chamber has recipes for lids, mechanisms and finished balls, including the Ancient versions.[5]
  • Create: the Deploying machine makes the stamped plate lids, such as Vibranium Stamped Plate Lid, using a Rubber Stamp (Lid). A Create Shaft is also part of every metal ball mechanism recipe.[5]
  • Mekanism: a stamping recipe also makes the stamped plate lids, and Metallurgic Infusing makes the coated ball lids from Create Mons Balls Overhaul, such as Coated Red Ball Lid.[5]
  • Mekanism also converts Tumblestone and its dusts into Standard, Light and Dense Tumblestone, using both oxidizing and chemical conversion recipes. Plain Tumblestone gives Standard, Sky gives Light and Black gives Dense.[5]

Deploying (create)

Recipe id: allthemons:deploying/vibranium_stamped_plate_lid

The Create deploying route for a stamped plate lid.

The metals themselves come from All The Modium. Plates, ingots, nuggets and blocks of Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium feed the bases, mechanisms and lids. Normal mechanisms use a nugget, while the Ancient mechanisms use a full ingot, as in Allthemodium Nugget versus Allthemodium Ingot.[2][5]

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/allthemodium_ball_lid

One of the Oritech Atomic Forge routes for a metal ball lid.

The Great Ball of Fire line connects to Create too. Filling a Create Great Ball Lid with Soul Lava gives the Great Ball of Fire Lid, and the Ancient version works the same way. PneumaticCraft's Pressure Chamber can do the Ancient lid using a Soul Lava Bucket instead.[5]

Tip: The Master Ball quests often list several machines for the same step, such as the Assembler, the Pressure Chamber or a Create setup for Ancient Vibranium Balls. You can pick whichever one you already have. The Ancient lid quest even covers the Spout and the Metallurgic Infuser.[2]

If you want the full overview of the ball chain, the "Pokeballs!" quest quest covers all the balls, including the Ancient ones.[2]

Which All the Mons quests use All The Mons?

6 parts

This mod's quests are spread over several chapters. The biggest is Master Ball, where you build the metal Pokéballs. After that come the ATM Team gym badges, the Pika Star chapter, and the Legendaries chapter.[2][3][4][7]

Master Ball chapter

You start with apricorns. "Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest asks for an Allthemodium Apricorn, Vibranium Apricorn or Unobtainium Apricorn. Apricorn Trees with these metal apricorns grow in The Other. The quest says you trade with a Poké Mart Trader for the last type, Unobtainium.[2]

From there the chapter splits into one quest per part. Each part has its own quest and they unlock in a chain.[2]

The final quest gives the catch rates. The Allthemodium ball has a 4x chance and the Vibranium ball has 6x. The Unobtainium ball has 10x, rising to 30x for Legendaries.[2]

Ancient and fire balls

a quest in "Master Ball" covers the Ancient mechanisms. They are made like normal mechanisms but cost a whole ingot instead of a nugget, and they are the only way to craft the Ancient balls. The lid quests come next: "Ancient Allthemodium Ball Lid" quest for Allthemodium, "Ancient Vibranium Ball Lid" quest for Vibranium, and the second quest named Ancient Vibranium Ball Lid, "Ancient Vibranium Ball Lid" quest, which actually asks for the Ancient Unobtainium Ball Lid. Then you build "Ancient Allthemodium Ball" quest, "Ancient Vibranium Ball" quest and "Ancient Unobtainium Ball" quest. "Pokeballs!" quest accepts any of these balls.[2]

The Great Ball of Fire has two quests, "Great Ball of Fire Lid" quest for the lid and then "Great Ball of Fire" quest for the ball. It has a 2x chance on most types, 50x on Fire types and 0x on Water types.[2]

ATM Team chapter

This chapter is the gym-badge run. It opens with "ATM Badge Box" quest, which gives you the ATM Badge Box to store your badges. After that you beat each team member for a badge. Several gym badges unlock from their own gym quests: "Toshiba Microwave" quest, "Toblerone0508" quest, "Joey" quest, "Oly2o6" quest and "Lobsterjonn" quest.[3]

Then you reach the Elite Gym, where the quests follow a strict order: "CesarZorak" quest, "_Rosary_" quest, "Satherov" quest, "Uncandango" quest, "Thevortex" quest, "Whatthedrunk" quest and "Notch" quest. The last one, "Capturing Mewtwo" quest, rewards an Ancient DNA Sample for cloning Mewtwo.[3]

The Pika Star chapter

"AllTheBadges" quest asks for every badge from the gyms. The badges are not consumed when you craft the Unbound Pika Star. "Unbound Pika Star" quest comes after it and needs 55 Create Mechanical Crafters laid out as a star. The final quest, "Shiny Pika Star" quest, asks for the Shiny Pika Star. While it is in your inventory, Shiny odds are 50 times more likely.[7]

Legendaries chapter

"Catching Legendaries" quest asks for the Pika Star. The other quests in the chapter unlock after it. Legendaries, Mythicals, Ultra Beasts and Paradox species cannot be battled or caught without the regional Pika Star for their home region.[4]

Other chapters

a quest in "Getting Started" in Getting Started asks for the PC on a Stick.[8]

Unverified "Paradox Pokémon" quest (Paradox Pokémon) also appears in the Paradox chapter, but its tasks and text could not be confirmed.
