What is Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

2 parts

This is where Create meets your Poké Ball supply. Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul is an addon for Create and Cobblemon that rebalances Cobblemon's ball recipes around Create's easy access to materials, and adds a new way to build balls with Create machinery.[1]

The pack ships version 0.0.4 of the mod. The mod's author describes it as their first mod, so expect it to be a bit rough around the edges.[1][2]

What it changes

  • Every Cobblemon Poké Ball recipe now gives only 2 balls instead of 4, because materials are easier to get with Create.[1]
  • You process Apricorn and Tumblestone with Create to make the base Poké Ball lids.[1]
  • Every Poké Ball can be made with sequenced assembly recipes, so you can build a full assembly line for them.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The mod has its own quests in the Master Ball chapter. They walk you through the parts you need: "Half Apricorns" quest, "Ball Lids" quest, "Apricorn Bits" quest, "Ball Bases" quest, "Stamped Nuggets" quest and "Mechanisms" quest. Several of them unlock after Create-themed quests such as Pressing, Deploying and Bulk Washing, so this is a mid-game Create project.[3]

The mechanisms decide which tier of ball you can make. Each tier is listed below.[3]

Tip: Half Apricorns and Apricorn Bits don't do much on their own. Half Apricorns are there to make lids, and Apricorn Bits are only used with Deployers to mix Dyes and Ball Lids into other lids. Don't spend time looking for other uses.[3]

The top end is the Ancient Origin Ball Lid. It starts from a Red Poké Ball Lid and needs a long sequence of Netherite Scraps, Lava and Tumblestone steps, which the quest repeats a second time.[3]

How do you get started with Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

3 parts

This mod turns Pokeball building into a Create production line, and the pack's quest chapter walks you through it in a sensible order. Start with the mechanism side, because each mechanism decides which tier of ball you can make.[1][3]

Mechanisms first

  1. Craft the Rubber Stamp (Lid) (quest a quest in "Master Ball"). The quest says you don't need Create to craft it, only to use it.[3]
  2. Use a Deployer to press the stamp onto nuggets. This gives you Stamped Copper Nugget (Lid), Stamped Iron Nugget (Lid), Stamped Zinc Nugget (Lid) or Stamped Brass Nugget (Lid) (quest "Stamped Nuggets" quest). The quest also covers the Stamped Sturdy Sheet (Lid): Spout Lava over Obsidian Dust, then Press it, twice.[3]
  3. Turn those into ball bases (quest "Ball Bases" quest). The quest says Zinc is what makes the Iron Ball Base, and that you need 2 ball bases for each mechanism.[3]
  4. Combine the bases with extra items into mechanisms (quest "Mechanisms" quest).[3]

The pack also has machine shortcuts. The Atomic Forge makes a copper base straight from a copper nugget, and a Mekanism lathe turns the stamped nugget into the same base.[4]

The sturdy base is different here: the pack changed its Atomic Forge recipe so it takes an obsidian plate.[4]

Which mechanism for which ball

Each mechanism metal sets the tier of ball you can build. Copper covers the default Pokeballs plus the Safari and Heal Ball. Iron gives Great Balls and a few others like the Net and Dive Balls. Brass gives Ultra Balls, Love and Luxury Balls and a bit more. The sturdy mechanism is for Dream and Beast Balls.[3]

Lids from apricorns

For lids, you first make half apricorns (quest "Half Apricorns" quest). The colour of the half apricorn decides the colour of the lid you get (quest "Ball Lids" quest). The pack lets a grinder cut a Red Apricorn into a Half Red Apricorn, and an EnderIO tank can turn that half plus water into a Red Ball Lid.[3][4]

Smelting a coloured lid gives a Blank Ball Lid, which you can dye into other colours. Apricorn Bits (quest "Apricorn Bits" quest) are only useful for mixing into lids with Deployers, so don't expect anything else from them.[3][4]

Blasting any coloured lid gives a blank lid.

Once you have bits, your first upgraded lid is the Great Ball Lid, made from a Blue Lid and Red Apricorn Bits. The quest describes this as deploying 2 Red Apricorn Bits on top of the Blue Lid.[3][4]

Watch out: The mod marks the old apricorn punch as an obsolete item. Use the Rubber Stamp (Lid) instead.[5]
Tip: The Ancient Origin Ball Lid is a late goal. It starts from a simple Red Pokeball Lid and goes through Netherite Scraps, Lava, pressing and three kinds of Tumblestone, then you repeat the process (quest "Ancient Origin Ball Lid" quest). Save it for after the basics.[3]

How does Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul work?

3 parts

This mod is a small addon that links Create and Cobblemon. It rebalances how Poké Ball recipes work and adds a way to build balls with Create machinery, by processing apricorns and Tumblestone into the parts of each ball. The project page describes it as a big assembly line. It has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid systems of its own that the sources document.[1]

What the mod does

  • Apricorns and Tumblestone are processed with Create to make the base ball lids.[1]
  • Every ball can be made through sequenced assembly recipes. The project page says the full list is in its gallery.[1]
  • The mod's description says Cobblemon's own ball recipes give 2 balls instead of 4, because materials are easier to get with Create. I couldn't confirm this value in the pack's own data, so check it in game before relying on it.[1]

Sequenced assembly leaves behind intermediate items while a ball is only partly built. One example is the Unfinished White Ball, which the mod names Unfinished White Ball.[5]

How the pack routes the parts

The pack's recipe list shows that several ball parts have extra recipes using Oritech machines. These are pack-specific recipes with the pack's own ids, not something the mod's page describes. The sources don't say whether they replace the Create routes or sit alongside them. They also don't give any power, fluid or speed requirements for these machines.[4]

Ball mechanisms are made in the Oritech Assembler. This covers the copper, iron, brass and sturdy mechanisms, and also their ancient versions. For example, here is the recipe for the Iron Ball Mechanism:[4]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/iron_ball_mechanism

The ancient versions work the same way. See the Brass Ancient Ball Mechanism and Sturdy Ancient Ball Mechanism as examples. The Ancient Gigaton Ball Lid is also made in the Assembler.[4]

Most finished lids are made in the Oritech Atomic Forge. This includes the Beast Ball Lid and the ancient lids such as the Ancient Great Ball Lid, Ancient Ultra Ball Lid and Ancient Wing Ball Lid. The forge also makes simpler parts, like the Black Apricorn Bits and the Black Ball Lid. Here is the black lid recipe:[4]

Black Ball LidMod recipe

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/black_ball_lid

Many lids are built in stages. The Atomic Forge recipes take earlier lid tiers as inputs, such as coated or dense coated lids, plus apricorn bits. The apricorn bits are the colored processed pieces, like the White Apricorn Bits and Blue Apricorn Bits.[4]

Rubber Stamp (Lid)

The Rubber Stamp (Lid) is crafted by hand in a normal crafting grid. A tooltip in the mod marks the older apricorn punch item as obsolete and tells you to use the Rubber Stamp (Lid) instead.[4][5]

Unverified The sources don't cover the exact Create machine steps (such as pressing, deploying or filling) for each ball. They also don't give any power, fluid or automation setups, or any config options. The mod has no config files in this pack and no in-jar guidebook. For the step-by-step sequences, check the recipe viewer in game. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you progress through Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

5 parts

The path in this pack follows the quest chain: make a Rubber Stamp, stamp metal, turn it into Ball Bases, build Mechanisms, and then pick the ball tier you want. Lids run alongside that path, and they come from Apricorns.[3]

Step 1: Stamps and nuggets

It starts with Rubber Stamp (Lid) (quest a quest in "Master Ball"). The quest says you don't need Create to craft it, only to use it. In "Stamped Nuggets" quest you use a Deployer to press the stamp onto nuggets. The quest accepts a stamped copper, iron, zinc or brass nugget, or a stamped sturdy sheet. It also says the zinc one ends up as the Iron Ball Base.[3]

The Sturdy Sheet is where the pack differs from the quest text. The quest describes spouting Lava over Obsidian Dust and pressing it twice, but the Mekanism stamping recipe for Stamped Sturdy Sheet (Lid) is marked as changed by the pack. Follow the recipe below.[3][4]

Stamped Sturdy Sheet (Lid)Changed by the pack

Stamper (mekmm)

Recipe id: allthemons:mekanism/stamping/stamped_sturdy_sheet_lid

This recipe is changed by the pack compared with the mod default.

Step 2: Ball Bases

"Ball Bases" quest covers the copper, iron, brass and sturdy Ball Bases. The quest says you need 2 Ball Bases for each Mechanism, plus more items added with Deployers. The Mekanism lathe turns each stamped item into its matching base, and the atomic forge also has recipes for the copper, iron and brass bases.[3][4]

The Sturdy Ball Base recipe in the atomic forge is changed by the pack.[4]

Step 3: Mechanisms and ball tiers

"Mechanisms" quest is the key step. Each Mechanism unlocks a tier of Poke Ball:[3]

The same quest also accepts an ancient version of each Mechanism, for example Copper Ancient Ball Mechanism. The pack has assembler recipes for each of them.[3][4]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/iron_ball_mechanism

Lids

In "Half Apricorns" quest you get Half Apricorns, and the grinder and Mekanism sawing recipes make them from whole Apricorns. In "Ball Lids" quest the color of the Half Apricorn decides which colored Lid you get. Smelting a colored Lid gives a Blank Ball Lid, which you can dye into other colors.[3][4]

The pack changed the Productive Bees conversion recipes that turn Half Apricorns into Lids. They are shown for the black, blue, green, pink and red Lids.[4]

Apricorn Wood Ball Lid comes from a Stripped Apricorn Log, through either the grinder or Mekanism sawing.[4]

Apricorn Bits ("Apricorn Bits" quest) can't be eaten or given to Pokemon. You only use them with Deployers, mixing Bits and dyes with Lids to make other Lids. One example is the Great Ball Lid, which the quest has you make by deploying 2 Red Apricorn Bits onto a Blue Lid.[3]

The Ancient Origin Ball Lid

The final lid in the Master Ball chapter ("Ancient Origin Ball Lid" quest) starts from a plain Red Poke Ball Lid. Run it through this sequence, then repeat the whole thing once more:[3]

  1. Deploy Netherite Scraps onto it.[3]
  2. Spout Lava into it.[3]
  3. Press it.[3]
  4. Spout Tumblestone into it.[3]
  5. Spout Light Tumblestone into it.[3]
  6. Spout Dense Tumblestone into it.[3]

How does Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul work with other mods?

4 parts

This mod is an addon built around two other mods, Create and Cobblemon. It reworks how Cobblemon balls are made so they fit Create-style machinery. In this pack it also links up with Oritech and with the pack's own Allthemodium-tier balls.[1][4]

Create

The quest book walks you through the Create side. You use a Deployer to press Rubber Stamps onto nuggets, and the Sturdy Sheet comes from spouting Lava over Obsidian Dust and pressing it twice. See "Stamped Nuggets" quest for the stamped nuggets and a quest in "Master Ball" for the stamp itself.[3]

Apricorn processing is Create-driven too. The "Ball Lids" quest quest explains that the colour of a Half Apricorn decides which lid you get. Smelting a lid gives you a Blank Ball Lid, which can then be dyed into other colours. "Apricorn Bits" quest covers using Deployers to combine Apricorn Bits and dyes with lids.[3]

The Ancient Origin Ball Lid is a long Create chain. Per its quest, you start from a Red Ball Lid and deploy Netherite Scraps onto it. Then you spout Lava, press it, and spout Tumblestone, Light Tumblestone and Dense Tumblestone in turn, and repeat the whole process. See "Ancient Origin Ball Lid" quest.[3]

Cobblemon

Every ball this mod builds is a Cobblemon ball, from the Poké Ball up to the Beast Ball and the Ancient variants like the Ancient Poké Ball. The mechanism tier decides which balls you can make. Per the quest book, copper covers the default Poké Balls plus the Safari and Heal Balls. Iron covers Great Balls and others such as the Net and Dive Balls. Brass covers Ultra, Love and Luxury Balls and a few more. The Sturdy mechanism covers Dream and Beast Balls. See "Mechanisms" quest.[3][4]

Oritech

This pack adds an Oritech route that skips most of the manual Create work. Oritech Assembler recipes build the mechanisms from this mod's ball bases and Create parts. The same machine then combines lids, a mechanism and an iron rod into the finished ball. The iron rod can be any iron rod.[4]

This one pulls in Create's Polished Rose Quartz.

The Beast Ball and Luxury Ball recipes accept any gold nugget instead of an iron rod. The Sturdy Ancient mechanism accepts any rose quartz gem.[4]

Allthemodium and the pack's own balls

The pack adds its own balls on top of this mod's parts. These are the Allthemodium Ball, Vibranium Ball and Great Ball of Fire, plus Ancient versions. They are made in the Assembler, using Blank Ball Lids or Apricorn Wood Ball Lids from this mod alongside the pack's own lids and mechanisms. The Ancient Great Ball of Fire uses a Sturdy Ancient mechanism from this mod.[4]

The Allthemodium lid is made in the Oritech Atomic Forge from a Block of Allthemodium, Allthemodium Apricorn Bits and a Blank Ball Lid. The Ancient version adds Tumblestone Dust.[4]

Which All the Mons quests use Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul?

4 parts

Everything for this mod sits in a single chapter, "Master Ball". It walks you through the Create-style processing chain behind Poké Ball parts: lids, bases and mechanisms.[3]

Stamps and nuggets

  1. a quest in "Master Ball" asks for the Rubber Stamp (Lid) and comes after the "Creating Pokeballs" quest. The quest text says you don't need Create to craft the stamp, only to use it.[3]
  2. "Stamped Nuggets" quest comes next and asks for any one of the stamped nuggets or the Stamped Sturdy Sheet (Lid). You make them by using a Deployer to push the stamp onto nuggets, and you need them for the mechanisms.[3]

Lids and apricorns

  • "Half Apricorns" quest asks for any colour of half apricorn, such as Half Red Apricorn. It comes after another quest (44F63C35341C3198) whose details aren't in the sources. The quest itself says half apricorns are mainly used to make lids.[3]
  • "Ball Lids" quest unlocks after "Bulk Washing". It asks for a coloured lid, a Blank Ball Lid and an Apricorn Wood Ball Lid. The quest says the half apricorn's colour decides which lid you get, and that smelting a lid gives a blank one that can be dyed.[3]
  • "Apricorn Bits" quest unlocks after "Sawing (again)" and asks for any colour of apricorn bits, such as Red Apricorn Bits. According to the quest, they can't be eaten or given to Pokémon. You only use them with Deployers, together with dyes, to turn lids into other lids.[3]
  • a quest in "Master Ball" follows Apricorn Bits and asks for the Great Ball Lid. It builds on a blue lid from the earlier quests.[3]

Bases and mechanisms

  • "Ball Bases" quest comes after "Pressing" and asks for a copper, iron, brass or sturdy ball base, for example Iron Ball Base. The quest text says you need 2 bases per mechanism, and that zinc is what makes the iron base.[3]
  • "Mechanisms" quest comes after "Deploying" and asks for any of the eight mechanisms, regular or ancient, in copper, iron, brass or sturdy. For example, Copper Ball Mechanism is the first tier.[3]

The quest text explains what each mechanism tier makes. Copper covers the default Poké Balls plus the Safari and Heal Ball. Iron covers Great Balls and a few others like the Net and Dive Balls. Brass covers Ultra Balls, Love and Luxury Balls and a bit more. The sturdy mechanism makes Dream and Beast Balls.[3]

The end goal

"Ancient Origin Ball Lid" quest asks for the Ancient Origin Ball Lid, and no prerequisite is listed for it in the sources. You start from a red Poké Ball lid and run it through a long multi-step Create process, then repeat that process once more to get the finished lid.[3]

Unverified The quests named as prerequisites (Creating Pokeballs, Bulk Washing, Pressing, Sawing (again), Deploying and 44F63C35341C3198) aren't described in the sources, so the full order of the chapter can't be confirmed from them.

What changed in Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul between versions?

1 part

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Create: Cobblemon Balls Overhaul 0.0.4. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so you've likely had it from the start.[2]

0.0.4

  • Updated to Cobblemon 1.7.1. The mod's changelog says to keep version 0.0.3 if you're on Cobblemon 1.6.1.[6]
  • Fixed a missing texture.[6]
  • Removed the Apricorn Punch recipes. The changelog calls the item obsolete and says it will be removed.[6]

I don't have any pack changelog entries that mention this mod, so the list above comes only from the mod's own 0.0.4 changelog.[6]
