What is Cobblemon: Mega Showdown?
2 parts
Cobblemon: Mega Showdown brings the big battle gimmicks to Cobblemon: Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Teralization, Dynamax and Gigantamax, Ultra Burst and fusions. It includes all 90+ Megas. This pack ships version 1.9.9+1.7.3+1.21.1 of it.[1][2]
The gimmick items can be worn in their own Gimmick slots, so you don't have to choose between the accessories mods you have installed. The mod is also a datapack platform, so addon creators can add their own Megas, forms and battle scripts.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack gives the mod its own quest chapter, "Mega Showdown". Each gimmick gets its own quest line, so here is how they break down.[3]
- Terastallization: you wear a Tera Orb to get permission to Terastallize ("Tera Orb" quest). Stellar Tera Shard has a 1% chance to drop when any Pokemon is defeated, and using 50 of them on a Pokemon makes it Stellar type ("Stellar Tera Shards" quest).[3]
- Mega Evolution: mining the Mega Crystal with a Diamond Pickaxe or better gives you a Mega Stone, which you then use to craft the specific stone for one Pokemon ("Mega Stone" quest). The Keystone is found in the center of the Megaroid.[3]
- Dynamax: you need a Wishing Star ("Wishing Star" quest) and a Dynamax Band ("Dynamax Band" quest). A Power Spot has to be within 20 blocks of the battle, and the quest says it takes a Wishing Star and a Max Mushroom, which grows in Lush Caves.[3]
- Z-Moves: the Blank-Z starts out blank, and you craft it with other items to make a specific Z-Move.[3]
- Shortcut: the Omni Ring ("Omni Ring" quest) worn in any of those 4 slots gives you the Z-Ring, Dynamax Band, Mega Bracelet and Tera Orb functions in one item. In the quest book it comes after the Tera Orb, Keystone, Wishing Star and Sparkling Stone quests.[3]
The mod also appears in the Legendaries chapter. The Hoopa quest asks you to carry a Prison Bottle, and the Giratina quest asks you to carry a Griseous Orb.[4]
The ATM Star path
Yes, the ATM Star path uses it. The "The ATM Star" chapter has a Zygarde Cube quest ("Zygarde Cube" quest), listed as coming after Mega Showdown. The quest says the pack's intended route is an Assembler from Oritech, rather than however the mod itself wants you to get it.[5]
How do you get started with Cobblemon: Mega Showdown?
5 parts
Mega Showdown adds Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Terastallization and Dynamax to Cobblemon, and each gimmick item can be worn in its own slot. Here's the order I'd tackle things in this pack.[1]
Craft the Tera Orb
Start with the Tera Orb. You need to wear it before you can Terastallize anything, and the quest "Tera Orb" quest says it's made from vanilla items only. Right-click with it to equip it, or put it on through the Accessory screen. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so use this one.[3][6]

Make a Tera Pouch
Terastallizing takes a lot of Tera Shards, so make a Tera Pouch early. A pouch holds one stack of each shard type. It also comes in many dye colors, which are separate recipes.[3][6]

Stellar Tera Shard is the odd one. It has a 1% chance to drop whenever any Pokémon is defeated, and using 50 of them on a Pokémon Terastallizes it into the Stellar type. That's the only way to get Stellar, so keep battling.[3]
Set up Dynamax
The Max Mushroom grows in Lush Caves. You'll need it for the Power Spot, and it also makes Pokémon food: Dynamax Candy, Max Honey and Max Soup, which Gigantamaxes a Pokémon. The quest for the Wishing Star comes after the Wishing Weald quest in the quest book, and it's what lets you Dynamax your Pokémon.[3]
With a Wishing Star in hand, craft the Dynamax Band and wear it. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.[3][6]

Then make a Power Spot, which uses a Wishing Star and a Max Mushroom. This recipe is pack-changed as well.[3][6]

Gather Mega materials
Mining the Mega Crystal with a Diamond Pickaxe or better gives you a Mega Stone. It does nothing on its own: you craft it into the specific stone for one Pokémon. Each Mega Pokémon needs its own stone, so you'll need multiple Mega Sites for multiple Megas. Alakazite is one example, and the pack changed that recipe.[3][6]

The Keystone sits in the center of a Megaroid and also needs a Diamond Pickaxe or better to mine. Each one gives a single Keystone, and you only need one.[3]
Finish with the Omni Ring
Wearing every gimmick item separately takes 4 slots. The Omni Ring replaces them: worn in any of those slots, it gives you the Z-Ring, Dynamax Band, Mega Bracelet and Tera Orb functions in one item. Its quest "Omni Ring" quest comes after the Tera Orb, the Keystone, the Wishing Star and the sparkling stones. The pack changed this recipe.[3][6]

The sparkling stones come from brushing Suspicious Sand in Archeological Sites. Light Sparkling Stone and Dark Sparkling Stone only change how the ring looks, not what it does.[3]
How does Cobblemon: Mega Showdown work?
6 parts
Mega Showdown adds Pokémon battle gimmicks to Cobblemon: Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Teralization, Dynamax and Gigantamax, Ultra Burst and Fusions. The mechanics you will actually use are items, crafting, the slots you wear them in and the advancements that guide you.[1]
Unverified Whether this pack changes any Mega Showdown settings would be set in the mod's config files. The sources here include no config files for this mod and no in-jar guidebook, so none of that is shown.
Gimmick items and where you wear them
All the gimmick items can be worn in their own Gimmick slots through the mod's Accessories integration. You don't have to choose between the accessories mods you have installed.[1]
The mod is also built to be datapacked. Custom Megas, Gmax forms, Fusions, form changes, held items, status effects, weathers and battle scripts can all be added by datapack. The mod lists riding support as well.[1]
Mega Evolution
The mod includes 90+ Megas. In this pack, the recipes for Abomasite, Absolite, Aerodactylite, Aggronite and Alakazite are marked as changed by the pack. They build on the base Mega Stone. The recipe list I was given is cut off, so I can't say whether other stones were changed too.[1][6]

The advancements show the Mega route. You can find a Raw Mega Stone, craft any Mega Stone, get a Mega Bracelet, and Mega Evolve any Pokémon. A separate advancement asks you to find a Megaroid or Mega Site structure.[7]
Z-Moves
There are advancements for collecting all types of Z-Crystals and for powering up any Pokémon with a Z-Move. The mod also has Z versions of status moves, each with its own effect. For example, Z-Celebrate raises Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def and Speed by 1 stage, and Z-Aromatherapy fully restores the user's HP. Some Z status moves just reset the user's lowered stats.[7]
For Z-Crystal hunting, there is an advancement for finding an Observatory or an Archaeological Site. Aloraichium-Z is crafted from Electrium-Z.[6][7]

Terastallization
Terastallizing any Pokémon has its own advancement, and so does changing a Pokémon's Tera Type. There is a further one for changing it to the Stellar Tera Type. Tera Shards exist for each type, for example Fire Tera Shard. In this pack, each shard can be crafted from the matching Tera Block, using recipes under the legendarymonuments namespace.[6][7]

Every other Tera type shown in the recipe list has a matching recipe from its own Tera Block.
Dynamax, Gigantamax and other form changes
There is an advancement for crafting a Dynamax Band and another for getting a Pokémon to Dynamax Level 10. Gigantamaxing has its own advancement. Other advancements cover the Rotom appliances (using one on Rotom changes its form), Ash Greninja's Battle Bond and an Ash Pikachu challenge. These show the modded form changes you can try.[7]
Special held items in this pack
Some Mega Showdown items are crafted from plain crafting recipes. Adamant Orb and Adrenaline Orb use the mod's own recipes. Rusted Sword and Rusted Shield come from recipes under the legendarymonuments namespace.[6]

How do you progress through Cobblemon: Mega Showdown?
5 parts
Progression in the pack is quest-driven. The Mega Showdown chapter branches into Terastallizing, Dynamaxing, Mega Evolution and Z-Moves, and it all funnels into one wearable that combines them. A few late-game quests then branch off into legendary Pokémon.[3][4]
Tier 1: Terastallizing
Start with the "Tera Orb" quest quest. You need a Tera Orb to Terastallize, and the quest says it's made from vanilla items. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default. Right-click it to equip it, or use your Accessory Screen.[3][6]
Crafting Shaped

Next you'll want shards, and lots of them. The pouch quest points you to the Tera Pouch, which holds a stack of each type of Tera Shard. It comes in 16 colors, and the plain Tera Pouch is the base one.[3][6]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: mega_showdown:tera_pouch_brown
For shards, the pack changed a Productive Bees advanced beehive recipe so a bee can produce every Tera Shard type, Stellar included. Legendary Monuments Tera Blocks also turn back into their matching shards in the crafting grid.[6]
Stellar Tera Shard is the special case. The quest says it has a 1% chance to drop whenever any Pokémon is defeated, and using 50 of them on a Pokémon Terastallizes it into Stellar Type. That is the only way to get that type. Stellar boosts all attacks but is weak to other Stellar Types.[3]
Tier 2: Dynamaxing
The "Wishing Star" quest quest unlocks Dynamaxing. The Wishing Star is the key item. Dynamaxing makes your Pokémon grow bigger, gain more health and use Max versions of its moves.[3]
Unverified The sources don't say how to obtain a Wishing Star beyond its quest following Wishing Weald, so check that quest in-game.
The Dynamax Band is what you wear to Dynamax. The pack changed its recipe, and it uses a Wishing Star.[3][6]

Max Mushroom grows in Lush Caves. You need it for the Power Spot, and it can also make Pokémon food items like Dynamax Candy, Max Honey and Max Soup. Dynamaxing requires a Power Spot at most 20 blocks from the battle. The pack changed that recipe too.[3][6]

Tier 3: Mega Evolution and Z-Moves
Mega progression starts at a Mega Site. Mine the Mega Crystal with a Diamond Pickaxe or better to get a Mega Stone. On its own it does nothing. You craft it into a Mega Stone for one specific Pokémon, so each Mega Pokémon you want needs its own stone and its own Mega Site.[3]
The pack changed the recipes for the Mega Stones I could see in the sources, such as Alakazite.[6]

You also need a Keystone. It sits in the center of the Megaroid, and you need a Diamond Pickaxe or better to mine it. Each one gives a single Keystone, and you only need one. A Block of Keystone can also be crafted back into a Keystone.[3][6]
Z-Moves start at the Observatory with the Blank-Z. It's blank on purpose: you craft it together with other items into a specific Z-Move crystal, such as Buginium-Z.[3][6]
The capstone: Omni Ring
The "Omni Ring" quest quest comes after the Tera Orb, Keystone, Wishing Star and Sparkling Stone quests. Wearing the Omni Ring in any of the four slots gives you the Z-Ring, Dynamax Band, Mega Bracelet and Tera Orb functions in one item.[3]
The Sparkling Stones, Light Sparkling Stone and Dark Sparkling Stone, are rare finds. You brush Suspicious Sand in Archeological Sites to uncover them. The two only differ in the appearance of the ring they craft. The pack changed the Omni Ring recipe.[3][6]

Late game: Zygarde and legendaries
The "Zygarde Cube" quest quest wants you to make the Zygarde Cube in an Oritech Assembler. The quest describes the inputs as 2 Spirited Crystals from Powah and 2 Time Crystals from Just Dire Things. The pack changed this recipe.[5][6]
In the "Zygarde" quest quest you reassemble Zygarde with a Reassembly Unit, which also has a pack-changed recipe. The Cores and Cells you put in the Cube decide the form and how long it takes.[4][6]
- 9 Cells and 1 Core give the 10% Forme, taking 2 minutes.[4]
- 49 Cells and 1 Core give the 50% Forme, taking 5 minutes.[4]
- All 95 Cells and all 5 Cores give the Complete Forme, taking 10 minutes. It gets Power Construct instead of Aura Break.[4]
Two other legendary quests use items from this mod. For "Giratina" quest you carry a Griseous Orb to Giratina Island. For "Hoopa" quest you need the final Temple Key plus a Prison Bottle, which is found in the Pyramid or bought from the Battle Tower.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: mega_showdown:griseous_orb
The Pika Star chapter asks for a Red Orb and a Blue Orb in "Red 'n Blue Orbs" quest. You can buy each for 20 Battle Points at the Holo Battle Tower. Cataclysm bosses can also drop them at about a 25% chance each.[8]
How does Cobblemon: Mega Showdown work with other mods?
4 parts
Mega Showdown doesn't live on its own in this pack. Its Tera Shards, Zygarde Cube and gimmick items show up in recipes from a bunch of other mods, and a few of those recipes were added or changed by the pack. Here's where the connections are.[6]
Cobblemon items in Mega Showdown recipes
Each specific Mega Stone is crafted from a plain Mega Stone plus a Cobblemon held item tied to that Pokémon. Most of these recipes, like Aerodactylite below, are flagged as changed by the pack, so don't assume the mod's default recipe applies. The Mega Stone itself comes from mining the Mega Crystal with a Diamond Pickaxe or better. See "Mega Stone" quest.[3][6]

The Z-crystal recipes pair a Cobblemon gem with a Blank-Z or another Z-crystal, and they are unchanged mod recipes. Buginium-Z is one example. Blank-Z is covered in a quest in "Mega Showdown".[3][6]
The Dynamax Band recipe is changed by the pack. Dynamax Candy is an unchanged mod recipe, and the quest "Max Mushroom" quest explains that the Max Mushroom can be turned into it.[3][6]

The pack also adds a Summoning Rituals altar recipe that combines the Deoxys Meteorite with Cobblemon's Power held items for a Deoxys ritual.[6]
Tera Shards across other mods
Legendary Monuments has recipes that compress a Tera Shard into a matching Tera Block and break the block back into a shard. The recipes shown cover every type except Stellar. Fire is the example below.[6]

Shards also feed a few other recipes. The Terabeegos altar recipe takes every Tera Shard type plus a Productive Bees configurable bee, and it gives back the bee and a spawn egg. The Terapagos Crystal is made in an ExtendedAE crystal assembler from the Normal and Stellar shards, and that recipe is changed by the pack. Pika Star is a Create mechanical crafting recipe that mixes Mega Showdown orbs, nectars and shards with items from several other mods.[6]

The quest "Zygarde Cube" quest says the pack wants you to get the Cube from an Oritech Assembler, combining 2 Spirited Crystals and 2 Time Crystals. The Spirited Crystal comes from Powah: put an Emerald in an Energizing Orb and shoot energy at it with Energizing Rods. The quest text is cut off here, so check the quest in-game for the rest.[5]
Legendary quests and accessories
The Legendaries quests tie Mega Showdown items to Legendary Monuments. "Hoopa" quest (Hoopa) needs a Temple Key plus the Prison Bottle, which you can find in the Pyramid or buy from the Battle Tower. "Giratina" quest (Giratina) needs the Griseous Orb. "Zygarde" quest (Zygarde) uses the Cube, Cells, Cores and the Reassembly Unit.[4]
Mega Showdown also supports accessories mods. Its gimmick items can be worn in their own gimmick slots, so you don't have to choose between the accessories mods you installed. The "Tera Orb" quest quest confirms you can equip the Tera Orb through the Accessory Screen.[1][3]
Which All the Mons quests use Cobblemon: Mega Showdown?
4 parts
Mega Showdown shows up in four quest chapters in this pack: Mega Showdown, Legendaries, The ATM Star and The Pika Star. Most of the work is in the first one, so we'll start there.[3][4][5][8]
Mega Showdown chapter
This chapter is a set of branches that all feed into the Omni Ring. The first two quests, "Tera Orb" quest and "Max Mushroom" quest, unlock after the chapter's opening quest.[3]
- "Tera Orb" quest: you need permission to Terastallize, and that means wearing a Tera Orb. The quest says it's crafted from just vanilla items, and you can right-click it to equip it or use the Accessory Screen.[3]
- "Max Mushroom" quest: the Max Mushroom grows in Lush Caves. You need it for the Power Spot, and it also makes Dynamax Candy, Max Honey and Max Soup for your Pokémon.[3]
- "Stellar Tera Shards" quest: Stellar Tera Shard has a 1% chance to drop whenever any Pokémon is defeated. Using 50 of them on a Pokémon Terastallizes it into the Stellar type, and the quest calls this the only way to get that type.[3]
- a quest in "Mega Showdown": a Tera Pouch, such as Tera Pouch White, holds a stack of each type of Tera Shard. Any of the 16 colors completes the quest. It unlocks after the Tera Shards quest, like the Stellar one.[3]
- "Wishing Star" quest: the Wishing Star lets you Dynamax your Pokémon. It unlocks after the Wishing Weald quest.[3]
- "Dynamax Band" quest: you wear a Dynamax Band to Dynamax. It comes after the Wishing Star.[3]
- "Power Spot" quest: Dynamaxing needs a Power Spot at most 20 blocks from the battle. You make one with a Wishing Star and a Max Mushroom, so it comes after both quests.[3]
- "Mega Stone" quest: mine the Mega Crystal with a Diamond Pickaxe or better to get a Mega Stone. It unlocks after the Mega Site quest. The stone does nothing alone: you craft a specific Mega Stone for each Pokémon from it, so more Mega Pokémon means more Mega Sites.[3]
- a quest in "Mega Showdown": the Keystone sits in the center of the Megaroid and needs a Diamond Pickaxe or better. Each Megaroid gives just one, and the quest says you don't need more than that. It unlocks after the Megaroid quest.[3]
- a quest in "Mega Showdown": brush Suspicious Sand in Archeological Sites to find the rare Light Sparkling Stone or Dark Sparkling Stone. The two only change the look of the rings they craft, not the effect.[3]
- a quest in "Mega Showdown": the Blank-Z unlocks after the Observatory quest. It's blank on purpose: you craft a specific Z-Move from it with other items.[3]
The finale is "Omni Ring" quest. It unlocks after the Tera Orb, Keystone, Wishing Star and Sparkling Stone quests. The Omni Ring covers all 4 slots for Z-Moves, Dynamaxing, Mega Evolution and Terastallizing, so you wear one item instead of the Z-Ring, Dynamax Band, Mega Bracelet and Tera Orb.[3]
Legendaries chapter
Hoopa, Giratina and Zygarde are the legendary quests that involve the mod. Hoopa and Giratina each have a structure task and a custom task, and both unlock after the Legendary Monuments quest.[4]
- "Hoopa" quest: Hoopa's power is bound inside the Hoopa Pyramid. You solve its trials and collect Temple Keys to open the doors. Then you carry the final Temple Key and a Prison Bottle to confront it. The bottle is either found in the Pyramid or bought from the Battle Tower.[4]
- "Giratina" quest: find Giratina Island and carry a Griseous Orb to open the way. You then face Giratina in its own reflected realm.[4]
- "Zygarde" quest: you reassemble Zygarde with a Reassembly Unit and a Zygarde Cube, then place Zygarde Core and Zygarde Cell items into the Cube by right-clicking. It unlocks after the Non-Altar Summoning quest.[4]
The Cores and Cells you load decide Zygarde's form and how long reassembly takes. Once it finishes, use any Poké Ball on the Reassembly Unit to capture it. You can also reverse the process to get your Cores and Cells back.[4]
- 9 Cells and 1 Core give the 10% Forme, and reassembly takes 2 minutes.[4]
- 49 Cells and 1 Core give the 50% Forme, and reassembly takes 5 minutes.[4]
- All 95 Cells and all 5 Cores give the Complete Forme, which has Power Construct instead of Aura Break. It takes 10 minutes.[4]
The ATM Star chapter
"Zygarde Cube" quest unlocks after the Mega Showdown quest and asks for a Zygarde Cube. The quest admits it doesn't know how the mod intends you to get one. The pack has you make it in an Assembler from Oritech, using crystals from Powah and Just Dire Things. The quest text walks through those steps, including how Time Crystals grow, and points you to the Just Dire Things questline for more.[5]
The Pika Star chapter
"Red 'n Blue Orbs" quest asks for a Red Orb and a Blue Orb to make the Unbound Pika Star. The quest gives two ways to get them.[8]
What changed in Cobblemon: Mega Showdown between versions?
3 parts
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Cobblemon: Mega Showdown 1.9.9+1.7.3+1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. The sources include no pack changelog entries for this mod.[2]
Newest releases
- 1.9.9: added models for the Rolycoly line, and fixed alternate forms not appearing in the opponent's team preview. The dev also raised the max mushroom spawn rate, which the changelog itself calls a joke, though the chance really was increased.[9]
- 1.9.3: config system improvements, an Audino fix, and an adjustment to Rain Dance for the Mega Sol ability. The changelog says the adjustment is because Rain Dance is half the damage, and that the code comes from base Pokemon Showdown.[10]
Showdown update changes and hotfix
- 1.8.4: Showdown files now only update once the game starts, instead of every time you open it. Max mushrooms, arch sites and the wishing weald were made less rare, and battle UI issues were fixed.[11]
- 1.8.3 hotfix: fixed tera shards and fixed NPEs.[12]
Older releases
- 1.7.4: fixed spawn presets, and fixed Burmy's form change logic to be canon. Debug mode now shows Showdown logs.[13]
- 1.7.4 also added a Gmax Pikachu remodel, plus Gmax Drednaw, Garbodor, Duraludon and Orbeetle. Orbeetle (from Pigeon's pack) and the Duraludon line (listed as missing mons) were added too.[13]
- 1.7.1 hotfix: fixed a Ho-Oh poser crash.[14]
- 1.6.12: added a rotation field to the sizer.[15]
- 1.6.8: new languages were added, and battle effects became datapackable.[16]
- 1.6.4: mixins were re-added in a cleaner way.[17]
- 1.6.3: added a debug mode config to see the form change id for a battle form, and removed unused mixins.[18]
- 1.6.1: fixed Showdown loading for new players.[19]
- 1.5.1 (beta build): fixed the sizer causing crashes.[20]
