What is All The Mons?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.0.0-rc.4 guide

All The Mons is the add-on that ties the pack's Pokémon side to the ATM metals. This pack ships version 0.1.4 of it. It's for you if you want to catch Pokémon with better gear than the standard Pokéballs.[1][2]

Metal Apricorns and Pokéballs

The quest book says you'll find Apricorn Trees in The Other that grow Allthemodium Apricorn and Vibranium Apricorn. They work like normal Apricorn Trees: you can pluck the Apricorns, chop the tree for wood, and replant. The last metal type, Unobtainium Apricorn, comes from trading with a Poké Mart Trader.[2]

From there you build the balls yourself. The quest chain covers halving the Apricorns, then making Apricorn Bits, plates, lids, ball bases and mechanisms, and finally the ball itself. Start with "Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest and finish at "Pokeballs!" quest.[2]

The quest text gives these catch rates. Allthemodium Ball has a 4x chance. Vibranium Ball has a 6x chance, with 50x for Legendaries. Unobtainium Ball has a 10x chance, with 100x for Legendaries.[2]

There is also the Great Ball of Fire and a set of Ancient versions, such as Ancient Unobtainium Ball. The quest says Ancient Balls need Ancient Ball Mechanisms and Apricorn Wood Lids. It also says balls you craft are identical to ones you find.[2]

The ATM Team badges

The mod also adds a quest chapter called "ATM Team". It tracks a collection of badges, starting with the ATM Badge Box and including allthemons:the_bathsalts_badge, The Microwave Badge and The Notch Badge. The chain ends with an Ancient DNA Sample quest that unlocks after the Notch badge.[3]

Unverified The sources don't say where this mod sits in the pack's overall progression, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path. Treat the timing of the Master Ball chapter as unconfirmed beyond the quest book's pointer to The Other.

How do you get started with All The Mons?

6 parts

Your first big goal in this pack is to craft your own high-tier Poké Balls. The Master Ball questline walks you through it, and each step below points to a real in-pack recipe. I'll use the Allthemodium line as the example. The Vibranium and Unobtainium lines have matching items and recipes.[4][5]

Grab your Apricorns

Apricorn Trees in The Other grow Allthemodium and Vibranium Apricorns. They work like normal Apricorn Trees: pluck the Apricorns, chop the tree for wood, and replant. You get the third type, Unobtainium, by trading with a Poké Mart Trader. The quest is "Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest.[4]

You can also farm them in a Botany Pot. The pack changed this crop recipe, so use the one below.[5]

Crop (botanypots)

Recipe id: allthemons:botanypots/crop/allthemodium_apricorn

Cut them in half, then into bits

Next, cut each Apricorn into a Half Allthemodium Apricorn. The quest suggests a Mechanical Saw, a Sawmill, a Fragment Forge or a whole Assembly Line. Then cut the halves again into Allthemodium Apricorn Bits, which you need for the lids. The quests are "Half Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest and "Allthemodium Metal Apricorn Bits" quest.[4][5]

Ball bases and mechanisms

Each ball needs a base, and you can make an Allthemodium Ball Base with the recipe below. The quest warns that you'll need 2, so plan ahead. See "Allthemodium Metal Ball Bases" quest.[4][5]

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/allthemodium_ball_base

These metal balls are special, so they need special mechanisms. That's the Allthemodium Ball Mechanism, covered by "Allthemodium Metal Mechanisms" quest.[4][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/allthemodium_ball_mechanism

The lid and the finished ball

The Allthemodium Ball Lid comes next. The quest sums it up as spending a bit, a Blank Lid and a block's worth of ingot. See "Allthemodium Metal Lids" quest.[4][5]

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/allthemodium_ball_lid

Put it all together and you get the Allthemodium Ball, the goal of "Pokeballs!" quest.[4][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/allthemodium_ball

Why these balls?

Tip: These three lines are not your only options. The Great Ball of Fire has a 2x catch rate, 50x on Fire types and 0x on Water types, so skip it for Mudkips. The pack also has Ancient versions of these balls, which need Ancient Ball Mechanisms and Apricorn Wood Lids.[4][6]

Handy extras

If you're a busy trainer on the move, craft a PC on a Stick. The quest compares it to a crafting table on a stick, and it also comes in a Healing Station variation.[7]

How does All The Mons work?

4 parts

The sources don't describe any big multiblocks or a power system added by All The Mons. Its core mechanics are a handful of crafted items: upgraded capture balls, a Pokémon egg incubator, portable utility items and tokens. The balls and the incubator are made in an assembler, and the recipe dump lists that machine as the Oritech assembler.[5]

The assembler crafting chain

The Unobtainium, Vibranium and Allthemodium balls are each made in two assembler recipes. First you make a ball mechanism, then you combine it with the matching lid to get the finished ball. Here are the in-pack recipes for the Unobtainium line.[5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/unobtainium_ball_mechanism

First the mechanism, made in the assembler.

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/unobtainium_ball

Then the finished ball, also made in the assembler.

Each of these lines also has an Ancient version with its own mechanism and lid. The Great Ball of Fire and its Ancient version are assembled too, but they take their mechanisms from another mod.[5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/ancient_unobtainium_ball

The Ancient Unobtainium Ball uses its own Ancient mechanism and lid.

What the balls do

The tooltips give catch-rate multipliers for two of the lines. The Unobtainium Ball and the Ancient Unobtainium Ball both give 10x catch rate, and 30x for legendary Pokémon.[6]

The Great Ball of Fire and the Ancient Great Ball of Fire both give 2x catch rate, and 50x for fire types. Against water types the multiplier is 0x, so don't throw them at water Pokémon.[6]

Pokemon Egg Incubator

The Pokemon Egg Incubator is also made in the assembler. Its tooltip says eggs hatch faster in it. If you put a ball on top, the hatched mon goes straight to your party.[5][6]

Portable utilities and tokens

Two items put Cobblemon machines in your pocket. PC on a Stick and Healing Station on a Stick are crafted from the matching Cobblemon block plus a wooden rod.[5]

How do you progress through All The Mons?

7 parts

The core progression in this pack is a three-tier Pokeball chain, laid out in the Master Ball quest chapter. You work from Apricorns to halves, bits, plates, bases, mechanisms and lids, and then assemble the finished Ball. The tiers are Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium, and each one catches better than the last.[4]

Step 1: Get your Apricorns

In The Other you'll find Apricorn Trees that grow metal Apricorns instead of the normal kind. They drop Allthemodium Apricorn and Vibranium Apricorn. They behave like normal Apricorn Trees: pluck the Apricorns, chop the tree for Wood, and replant. The Unobtainium Apricorn comes from trading with a Poké Mart Trader once you have the other two.[4]

You can also farm them in Botany Pots. The pack changes the crop recipes for the Allthemodium Apricorn Seed, Vibranium Apricorn Seed and Unobtainium Apricorn Seed. Each one returns its Apricorn plus the seed when planted in dirt-type soil.[5]

Step 2: Halves and bits

Next you cut each Apricorn in half. The quest suggests a Mechanical Saw, a Sawmill, a Fragment Forge, or a whole Assembly Line. The pack has matching recipes for Create cutting, Oritech, Mekanism sawing and PneumaticCraft assembly. After that, you cut the halves again into Apricorn Bits, such as Allthemodium Apricorn Bits.[4][5]

Cutting (create)

Recipe id: allthemons:cutting/half_allthemodium_apricorn

The Vibranium and Unobtainium Apricorns have cutting recipes with the same pattern.

Cutting (create)

Recipe id: allthemons:cutting/allthemodium_apricorn_bits

Step 3: Plates and ball bases

The plates quest accepts a stamped plate lid such as Allthemodium Stamped Plate Lid, or just a plain metal plate. Stamping is optional, so some plates can stay as they are. The ball bases come next, for example Vibranium Ball Base.[4]

Deploying (create)

Recipe id: allthemons:deploying/allthemodium_stamped_plate_lid

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/allthemodium_ball_base

There are also Mekanism lathe and PneumaticCraft assembly drill routes for bases.

Tip: The ball base quest warns that you'll need 2 bases, however you get them. Plan for that before you start stamping.[4]

Step 4: Mechanisms and lids

These three Balls are special, so they need their own mechanisms. For example, the Allthemodium Ball Mechanism can be made in the Oritech assembler or the PneumaticCraft pressure chamber.[4][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/allthemodium_ball_mechanism

The lids use the Apricorn Bits. The Unobtainium lid is a step up from the Vibranium one, so it builds on it.[4][5]

This one builds on the Vibranium lid.

Step 5: Finish the Balls

The final quest in the chain covers all three Balls. These are the catch rates it gives:[4]

  • Allthemodium Ball: 4x chance on any Pokemon. The quest notes that 4x is about the highest most Pokeballs go, apart from the Quick, Love and Beast Ball.[4]
  • Vibranium Ball: 6x chance, and 50x on Legendaries.[4]
  • Unobtainium Ball: 10x chance, and 100x on Legendaries. The quest says the only better Pokeballs are the Origin Ball and one more that the quest text cuts off.[4]

Ancient Balls and the Great Ball of Fire

The Pokeballs! quest lets you craft just about any Ball yourself, though some cost more than others. Ancient versions need Ancient Ball Mechanisms and Apricorn Wood Lids, such as the Ancient Allthemodium Ball. The quest says these Balls are identical to the ones you find, just made by you.[4]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:assembler/ancient_allthemodium_ball

The Great Ball of Fire has its own lid quest and ball quest in the Master Ball chapter. It has a 2x chance on almost every type, 50x on Fire types and 0x on Water types, so it's not for catching Mudkips.[4]

Other quest lines

The Getting Started chapter has two useful side quests. One is the PC on a Stick, a portable PC that works like a crafting table on a stick and also comes in a Healing Station variation. The other is Pokemon Breeding, where the baby comes from a Pokemon Egg and has the same species as the mother.[7]

The ATM Team chapter has a badge chain. From the Artist badge onward, each quest comes after the previous one:[8]

  1. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Artist Badge.[8]
  2. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Ralph Badge.[8]
  3. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Kitty Badge.[8]
  4. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Unknown Badge.[8]
  5. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Vortex Badge.[8]
  6. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Drunk Badge.[8]
  7. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Notch Badge.[8]
  8. a quest in "ATM Team" finishes the chain with the Ancient DNA Sample.[8]

The Pika Star chapter is marked WIP and has a single quest for the Pika Star.[9]

How does All The Mons work with other mods?

5 parts

Most of what this mod adds is built from other mods' parts. The special Poké Balls, their lids, mechanisms and bases, plus the egg incubator and the "on a Stick" items, all use recipes that take items and machines from other mods in the pack. Here's how the connections look.[4][5][7]

Allthemodium metals build the special balls

The Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium balls are made from the metals of the Allthemodium mod. Their plates become ball bases, their ingots and nuggets go into mechanisms, and their blocks go into lids. Allthemodium Plate is the starting point for an Allthemodium ball base, and the Vibranium and Unobtainium plates work the same way for their own bases.[5]

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: allthemons:atomicforge/allthemodium_ball_base

The Oritech Atomic Forge route for a ball base.

The mechanisms also need a Shaft from Create. The Allthemodium and Vibranium lids start from a Blank Ball Lid, while the Unobtainium lid starts from a Vibranium Ball Lid. The Master Ball quest chapter walks you through this chain, from apricorns to bits, lids, bases and mechanisms, and ends in the finished balls.[4][5]

One recipe, several machines

The pack gives you more than one machine for many of these steps, so you can pick whichever tech mod you've already set up. The Great Ball of Fire quest says you can combine the parts "through whichever process you choose".[4][5]

  • Oritech: the Assembler builds the finished balls and mechanisms, and the Atomic Forge makes ball bases and lids.[5]
  • PneumaticCraft: the Pressure Chamber can craft most balls, lids and mechanisms, and its assembly drill turns plates into ball bases.[5]
  • Create: Deploying with a Rubber Stamp (Lid) turns plates into stamped plate lids, and Filling handles the Soul Lava lids.[5]
  • Mekanism: a stamper recipe makes the same stamped plate lids as Create does.[5]

Deploying (create)

Recipe id: allthemons:deploying/vibranium_stamped_plate_lid

The Create route for a stamped plate lid.

Tip: Stamping isn't required. The Metal Plates quest says some plates can just stay as normal plates.[4]

Soul Lava and the Great Ball of Fire

The Great Ball of Fire lids use Soul Lava from the Allthemodium mod. With Create it's applied by Filling onto a Great Ball Lid, and the Pressure Chamber version uses Soul Lava Bucket instead. The finished ball also needs a Sturdy Ball Mechanism, a Blank Ball Lid and an iron rod.[4][5]

Tumblestone and Mekanism

Mekanism processes Cobblemon's tumblestones, and the tumblestone dusts, into light, standard and dense tumblestone variants. Both oxidizing and chemical conversion recipes exist for this. The standard variant is then used in Mekanism's metallurgic infusing to coat colored ball lids.[5]

Which All the Mons quests use All The Mons?

4 parts

The mod's items show up in four quest chapters in this pack: Getting Started, Master Ball, ATM Team and The Pika Star (WIP). The Master Ball chapter is where most of the real work happens.[4][7][8][9]

Getting Started

  • a quest in "Getting Started" comes after the PC quest and asks for a PC on a Stick. It works on the road like a crafting table on a stick, and there's a Healing Station variation too.[7]
  • "Pokemon Breeding" quest comes after the Pasture Block quest and asks for a Pokemon Egg. Two Pokemon in a Pasture can breed if they are male and female and share an Egg Group. The baby is the same species as the mother, and the female lays an egg every once in a while.[7]

Master Ball

This chapter walks you through building the metal Pokeballs. You start by collecting Apricorns and finish with the finished balls.[4]

  1. "Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest follows a quest titled "The best Pokeballs start in". Hand in an Allthemodium Apricorn, Vibranium Apricorn or Unobtainium Apricorn. The quest text says the Allthemodium and Vibranium Apricorn Trees grow in The Other. You can then trade with a Poké Mart Trader for Unobtainium.[4]
  2. "Half Allthemodium Metal Apricorns" quest asks for a half apricorn, such as Half Allthemodium Apricorn, Half Vibranium Apricorn or Half Unobtainium Apricorn. The quest text suggests the Mechanical Saw, a Sawmill, a Fragment Forge, an Assembly Line or magic for the cutting.[4]
  3. "Allthemodium Metal Apricorn Bits" quest asks for apricorn bits, for example Allthemodium Apricorn Bits. The quest text says they are used to craft the metal lids.[4]
  4. "Allthemodium Metal Plates" quest accepts a stamped plate lid such as Allthemodium Stamped Plate Lid. It also accepts a plain plate from the Allthemodium mod, so stamping is optional.[4]
  5. "Allthemodium Metal Lids" quest asks for a ball lid: Allthemodium Ball Lid, Vibranium Ball Lid or Unobtainium Ball Lid.[4]
  6. "Allthemodium Metal Ball Bases" quest asks for a ball base, such as Allthemodium Ball Base. The quest text says you'll need 2 of them.[4]
  7. "Allthemodium Metal Mechanisms" quest asks for a ball mechanism, such as Allthemodium Ball Mechanism. These three balls need their own special mechanisms.[4]
  8. "Allthemodium Vibranium and Unobtainium Balls" quest comes after the mechanism and lid quests and a quest titled "Finishing our Pokeballs". It wants the finished Allthemodium Ball, Vibranium Ball and Unobtainium Ball.[4]
  9. "Pokeballs!" quest accepts any of the Allthemodium, Vibranium, Unobtainium or Great Ball of Fire balls, or their Ancient versions, such as Ancient Allthemodium Ball. The quest text says Ancient Balls need Ancient Ball Mechanisms and Apricorn Wood Lids. It also says the balls you craft are identical to the ones you find.[4]

The quest text for the three metal balls gives their catch rates. The Allthemodium Pokeball has a 4x chance on any Pokemon. The Vibranium Pokeball has a 6x chance, with 50x for Legendaries. The Unobtainium Pokeball has a 10x chance, with 100x for Legendaries.[4]

The chapter also has a fire-themed side branch. "Great Ball of Fire Lid" quest asks for the Great Ball of Fire Lid. It follows a quest titled "Burning our Great Ball Lid". After that, "Great Ball of Fire" quest asks for the finished Great Ball of Fire. Per the quest text, it has a 2x chance on almost every type. Fire types get 50x and Water types get 0x.[4]

ATM Team

This chapter is a collection of badge quests. Each one asks you to hand in a single item, and none of them has a title. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for the ATM Badge Box. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for allthemons:the_bathsalts_badge. Neither lists a prerequisite.[8]

Four more badges each unlock after a quest that isn't covered here:[8]

The rest form one long chain, and the order matters:[8]

  1. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Artist Badge. It needs three earlier quests finished first.[8]
  2. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Ralph Badge.[8]
  3. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Kitty Badge.[8]
  4. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Unknown Badge.[8]
  5. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Vortex Badge.[8]
  6. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Drunk Badge.[8]
  7. a quest in "ATM Team" asks for The Notch Badge.[8]
  8. a quest in "ATM Team" finishes the chain and asks for an Ancient DNA Sample.[8]

The Pika Star (WIP)

This chapter is marked work-in-progress and has a single quest. a quest in "The Pika Star (WIP)" asks for the Pika Star.[9]
