What is Extended AE?
1 part
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting workflows. If you already run an ME network and want it bigger, faster and less cluttered, this is the mod for you. The pack ships version 2.2.35 for NeoForge 1.21.[1][2]
Most of what it adds is upgraded versions of AE2 devices. The ME Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots, 4 times as many as an ordinary Pattern Provider. The ME Extended Import Bus and ME Extended Export Bus work about 8x faster than the regular buses and support more upgrades.[3]
Where it fits in the pack
The pack gives Extended AE its own quest chapter, "Extended & Advanced AE". It starts with "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest, because Entro Crystal is the main crafting ingredient for most of the mod's items and machines. To get it, you right-click a Fluix Block with an Entro Seed. That creates Budding Entroized Fluix, which grows Entro Buds like Budding Certus Quartz does. Unlike Certus, its decay is inevitable.[3][4]
Next comes "Complex Crafter: The Crystal Assembler" quest. The Crystal Assembler is needed to craft most of the extended devices, since they are too complex for a crafting table. Its screen face can't connect to the network.[3][5]
After the Crystal Assembler, the quest chapter opens up these branches:[3]
- "Actively Placing From The Network: The Active Formation Plane" quest: the ME Active Formation Plane places blocks or drops items straight from the network, with no subnet needed.[3][6]
- "Can this Liquid: The ME Canner" quest: the ME Canner fills or empties containers.[3][7]
- "Get-Yer-Crystals-Fixed: The Crystal Fixer" quest: the Crystal Fixer repairs decaying budding crystals.[3][8]
- "Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest: the faster and bigger versions of the AE2 devices.[3]
- "Blocks to Circuits: The Circuit Slicer" quest: the Circuit Slicer slices material blocks straight into processor prints, up to nine times faster than an Inscriber.[3][9]
The "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest quest is a pack-specific take on the mod's Infinity Cells. Besides Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell, it accepts a long list of cells from the pack's own scripts, such as lava and dirt cells.[3]
For big automation, the Assembler Matrix is a multiblock crafter that runs many crafting jobs at once and saves channels. It is a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7, and it needs at least one Pattern Core and one Craft Core. Each Pattern Core provides 36 pattern slots, and each Craft Core can run 8 crafting jobs at the same time.[10]
One last pack detail: Entro Cluster also shows up as a task item in the Terapagos legendary quest, so you'll want an Entro setup going anyway.[11]
How do you get started with Extended AE?
4 parts
Extended AE is built around one resource: the Entro Crystal. It is the main crafting ingredient for most of the mod's items and machines, so your first job is to get a steady supply of it. After that you unlock the machine that crafts everything else.[4]
Step 1: Craft an Entro Seed
The Entro Seed is where it all starts. This is the recipe in this pack:[12]

- any ender pearl dust
- any ender pearl dust

Sky Stone Dust
Recipe id: extendedae:entro_seed
Right-click a Fluix Block with the seed and the block turns into Budding Entroized Fluix. The pack's quest "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest walks you through exactly this.[3][13][14]
Step 2: Harvest your crystals
Budding Entroized Fluix grows Entro Buds the same way Budding Certus Quartz does, and you harvest the Entro Cluster to get Entro Crystals. There is one big difference from Certus: the budding block's decay is unavoidable, and it eventually turns into something else.[3][4][15]
Breaking the budding block always drops one Entro Dust, whatever state it is in. Breaking a bud that isn't fully grown gives you Entro Shard instead. Keep both. Eight shards can be crafted back into a crystal.[3][12][15][16]
The dust is useful too. A Fluix Crystal can be transformed with Entro Dust into an Entro Crystal. The pack also adds a recipe that turns Entro Essence from Mystical Agriculture into an Entro Crystal.[12]
Step 3: Build the Crystal Assembler
Most Extended AE devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you need the Crystal Assembler next. It is the quest "Complex Crafter: The Crystal Assembler" quest, and it opens up everything else. The face with the screen cannot connect to your ME network, so keep that in mind when you place it.[3][5]

Step 4: Make your first extended devices
With the Crystal Assembler running, the pack's quest "Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest shows what to build first. The ME Extended Pattern Provider is a good place to start. It has 36 pattern slots, 4 times as many as an ordinary Pattern Provider. The extended import and export buses work about 8x faster than the regular ones and take more upgrades.[3]

Other early picks from the same quest line:[3]
- Crystal Fixer ("Get-Yer-Crystals-Fixed: The Crystal Fixer" quest) repairs decaying budding blocks, so you can keep your crystal farm going. Entroized Fluix is fixed with Ender Dust.[3][8]
- Circuit Slicer ("Blocks to Circuits: The Circuit Slicer" quest) slices blocks straight into processor prints, up to nine times faster than an Inscriber.[3][9]
- ME Extended Pattern Access Terminal ("Better Pattern Access: The Extended Pattern Access Terminal" quest) lets you search patterns by their ingredient names and highlights the matching Pattern Provider in the world.[3][17]

How does Extended AE work?
11 parts
Extended AE is an Applied Energistics 2 add-on, and almost everything in it is an upgrade or a new tool for an ME network. Here is how its main systems work, from the machines that craft it to the multiblock, the buses and the wireless links.[1][18]
Crafting the machines
Most Extended AE devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you build them in the Crystal Assembler. It also handles some in-world transformation recipes, such as fluix transformation. The face with the screen can't connect to your network.[5]
Crafting Shaped

Most block-form machines in the mod also need an Extended Machine Frame, which is the foundation of the whole mod.[19]
The Concurrent Processor is the part used in multithreaded machines, so they can handle several tasks at once. The pack changed its Crystal Assembler recipe, so check the one below rather than any default you remember.[12][20]
Crystal Assembler (extendedae)
4× Printed Silicon
4× Printed Concurrent Circuit
- 4× any redstone dust
Recipe id: extendedae:assembler/concurrent_processor
The pack also adds an Inscriber recipe that presses an Entro Crystal into a Printed Concurrent Circuit using the pack's Inscriber Universal Press.[21]
Circuit Slicer
The Circuit Slicer slices material blocks directly into processor prints, and it is up to nine times faster than an Inscriber. Glass faces without a port can't connect to the network.[9]
This pack adds two recipes for it. One is a Circuit Slicer recipe that turns an iron block into a Inscriber Universal Press, so you can replace presses you have used up. The other is an extra Crystal Assembler recipe for the slicer itself.[21]
Assembler Matrix multiblock
The Assembler Matrix is a multiblock that runs many crafting jobs at once and saves channels. It is a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. It must be completely filled, never hollow.[10]
- Edges are made of Assembler Matrix Frame.[10]
- Faces are made of Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass.[10]
- The interior is made of Pattern, Craft and Speed Cores.[10]
- A valid matrix needs at least one Pattern Core and one Craft Core.[10]
When the matrix is formed and powered, the lines on the frame turn blue. Right-click it to open the GUI, where you can add or search patterns and see how many jobs are running.[10]
- Pattern Core: the matrix only takes patterns from its Pattern Cores, and each one provides 36 pattern slots.[10]
- Assembler Matrix Craft Core: crafting jobs are assigned to Craft Cores, and each one runs 8 jobs at the same time.[10]
- Speed Core: 5 speed cores give full speed.[10]

Parallel machines
- Extended Molecular Assembler: runs eight crafting jobs at once and works twice as fast as the normal one. You can't put a pattern in it directly.[22]
- Extended Inscriber: runs 4 inscribing jobs at once. A button changes its inventory stack size, and the GUI offers Stack to 1, Stack to 4 and Stack to 64.[14][23]
- Extended Charger: charges 4 items at the same time.[24]
- ME Extended IO Port: works eight times faster than the normal one and has more upgrade slots.[25]
Storage and interfaces
- ME Extended Drive holds 20 storage cells.[26]
- ME Extended Interface has a larger configuration inventory, and the ME Extended Pattern Provider has a larger pattern inventory.[27][28]
- ME Oversize Interface has the same number of slots as a normal interface but holds 16 times as many items per slot by default, which is 1024 (64 x 16). The multiplier is configurable and some other-mod items can have their own. This pack has no config file for the mod, so its exact setting is unverified.[29]
- ME Ingredient Buffer holds 36 types of contents, from items to fluids.[30]
To upgrade existing AE2 devices, use the upgrade items such as Import/Export Bus Upgrade. Sneak and right-click the normal device to turn it into its extended version. All settings and inventories are kept.[31]

Buses and filters
ME Extended Import Bus and ME Extended Export Bus have more upgrade slots than the normal buses. The guide gives a default speed multiplier of 8 and says it is configurable. The pack's own value is unverified.[32]
Crystal Assembler (extendedae)
Recipe id: extendedae:assembler/ex_export_bus
- ME Precise Export Bus exports exact quantities, and only if the target container can fully accept the whole output. In the guide's example it exports 3 cobblestones per operation and stops when the network holds fewer than 3.[33]
- ME Precise Storage Bus has a numerical limit and inserts items only up to that limit.[34]
- ME Threshold Export Bus works when the stored amount is above or below its threshold. In the guide's example, a copper threshold of 128 in the above mode exports copper once the network holds more than 128.[35]
- ME Tag Export Bus and ME Tag Storage Bus filter by item or fluid tags. The storage bus accepts simple logic, for example c:ingots/* | c:gems/* accepts all ingots and gems.[36][37]
- ME Mod Export Bus and ME Mod Storage Bus filter by mod name or ID. Separate several mod IDs with commas.[38][39]

The ME Threshold Level Emitter works like a latch with a lower and an upper threshold. With the thresholds at 100 and 150, it turns on once the item count passes 150. It stays on while the count falls, and turns off only when the count drops below 100.[14][40]

Placing and breaking blocks
ME Active Formation Plane actively places blocks or drops items, and ME Smart Annihilation Plane breaks blocks or absorbs items according to its configuration inventory. Neither needs a subnet. They work like an export bus and an import bus, but place or break blocks instead of using a chest.[6][41]

ME Canner
The ME Canner fills containers. The first slot holds the filling material and the second holds the item to fill. Each operation costs 80 AE. By default it fills only fluids, and the guide lists Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics and Applied Botanics Addon as the addons that add other materials.[7]
Only the top and bottom sides accept energy and connect to the network. For autocrafting, the pattern must contain only the filling material and the container. The Canner ejects the filled item automatically. In Empty mode it drains containers instead, and you switch the inputs and outputs in the pattern.[7]
Wireless links
ME Wireless Connector links two networks one-to-one. It has limited range and can't cross dimensions. You link two connectors by clicking each with the ME Wireless Setup Kit, and sneak and click clears the kit. Connectors can be colored and only connect to the same color.[42]
Power use grows with distance on a curve that isn't linear, so very far links get expensive. Each saving card cuts the cost by 10%.[42]
ME Wireless Hub has 8 ports and connects up to 8 hubs or connectors. It picks a free port automatically. When all are used, remove a connection by clicking the 'X' button before adding a new one.[43]
Bulk tools
- Config Modifier edits configuration inventories, such as an interface's, in bulk. Its modes are add, subtract, multiply, divide, maximize, minimize, set and clear.[14][44]
- Pattern Modifier edits patterns in bulk with Multiply, Replace, Property and Clone modes. Division only works when the amount divides evenly, and multiplication is capped at 999,999.[45]
- ME Packing Tape packs a supported device into a package item with its settings and inventory kept. Sneak and right-click the device to pack it. The list of supported devices is configurable.[46]

Entro crystals
Entro Crystal is the main ingredient for most Extended AE items and machines. You grow it like Certus Quartz: right-click a Fluix Block with an Entro Seed to make Budding Entroized Fluix, then harvest the Entro Cluster. Budding Entroized Fluix always degrades eventually.[4][13][15]
The ME Crystal Fixer repairs and upgrades budding blocks and needs power. In the pack, it turns Budding Half Entroized Fluix into Budding Mostly Entroized Fluix as shown below.[8][12]

How do you progress through Extended AE?
7 parts
Extended AE progression in this pack follows the "Extended & Advanced AE" quest chapter. You start with Entro Crystals, move on to the Crystal Assembler, and then branch into the extended devices, wireless links and the Assembler Matrix. Here is the path in order.[3]
Tier 1: Entro Crystals
The first quest, "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest, asks for an Entro Seed and an Entro Crystal. Right-click a Fluix Block with the seed to make Budding Entroized Fluix, which grows Entro Buds around it. Unlike Budding Certus Quartz, its decay is inevitable. It always drops one Entro Dust when broken, and Entro Buds drop Entro Shard when they aren't fully grown.[3]

Tier 3: What follows the Crystal Assembler
Once you have the Crystal Assembler, these quests all follow it in the chapter.[3]
- "Actively Placing From The Network: The Active Formation Plane" quest: the ME Active Formation Plane works like an ME Export Bus, but it treats the world as its medium. You don't need a subnet for it.[3][6]
- "Can this Liquid: The ME Canner" quest: the ME Canner fills or empties containers that can hold fluids, chemicals or energy. It automatically outputs to pattern providers if a pattern is used to fill them.[3]
- "Get-Yer-Crystals-Fixed: The Crystal Fixer" quest: the Crystal Fixer repairs decaying Budding Certus Crystals with Charged Certus Quartz and Entroized Fluix with Ender Dust. It also has a small chance to make Flawless Budding Certus Quartz.[3]
- "Blocks to Circuits: The Circuit Slicer" quest: the Circuit Slicer slices blocks into circuits, up to 9 at a time, or 4 in the case of certus or entro.[3]
- "Better Pattern Access: The Extended Pattern Access Terminal" quest: the ME Extended Pattern Access Terminal adds pattern search by input and output ingredient names, pattern highlighting in the GUI, and in-world highlighting of Pattern Providers.[3]
The pack adds a second way to craft the Circuit Slicer, using a Universal Press instead of the individual presses.[12]

Extended devices and upgrades
"Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest covers the extended versions of AE2 devices: buses, charger, inscriber, molecular assembler, drive, IO port, interface and pattern provider. They have a higher capacity, are faster, or both. The ME Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots, 4 times as many as an ordinary Pattern Provider. The extended import and export buses work about 8x faster than regular ones and support more upgrades.[3]
You don't have to rebuild your network to switch over. Sneak and right-click a normal device with the matching upgrade item and it becomes the extended version, keeping all its settings and inventories. The upgrades are Pattern Provider Upgrade, Interface Upgrade, Import/Export Bus Upgrade, Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade and Drive Upgrade.[31]
Wireless: Connector, then Hub
"Connections across long distances: The Wireless Connector" quest asks for the ME Wireless Connector and the ME Wireless Setup Kit. A Connector links two points of an ME Network, like a Quantum Bridge. It only reaches other Connectors up to about 1000 blocks away and can't cross dimensions. Use the Setup Kit on the two Connectors you want to link. Coloring a Connector with the Color Applicator stops it connecting to cables or Connectors of a different color.[3]
"Branches of Connections: The Wireless Hub" quest follows. The ME Wireless Hub can connect to 8 different Wireless Connectors or Hubs, but it can only transfer 32 channels in total.[3]
The Assembler Matrix
"Many Assemblers In One: The Assembler Matrix" quest unlocks after the extended devices quest. The Assembler Matrix is a multiblock that holds the equivalent of many Molecular Assemblers and Pattern Providers on a single channel. It must be a completely filled cuboid, at least 3x3x3 and up to 7x7x7. The edges are Assembler Matrix Frame, the faces are Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass, and the interior is made of cores. It needs at least one pattern core and one craft core. When it is formed and powered, the lines on the frame turn blue.[3][10]
The quest's example is a 7x7x7 matrix, which needs a total of 68 frames and 150 walls. The quest rewards 25 of each to help you get started.[3]
The pack changed the Assembler Matrix Frame recipe, so don't rely on the mod's defaults for it.[12]

- Assembler Matrix Pattern Core: adds 36 pattern slots to the multiblock.[3][10]
- Assembler Matrix Craft Core: adds 8 maximum parallel crafting jobs.[3][10]
- Assembler Matrix Speed Core: works like an Acceleration Card. Installing more than 5 has no extra effect on the speed of each crafting job.[3][10]

Storage cells
Two more quests in the chapter are about cells. Both follow a quest outside this chapter's extended-device line. The ME Void Cell in "Matter Condenser in a Cell: The Void Cell" quest must be partitioned in a Cell Workbench before use. It then deletes matching items entering the ME system, or condenses them into Matter Balls or Singularities. Right-click it to open its configuration GUI.[3]
"More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest is about Infinity Cells, which provide a limitless supply of one resource. They include Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell.[3]

How does Extended AE work with other mods?
5 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2, so almost everything it adds plugs into AE2 gear. Most of its devices are built in the Crystal Assembler instead of a crafting table, and the recipes lean on AE2 cards, processors and buses. Other mods in this pack then build on top of Extended AE's parts.[1][5][12]
Built on AE2 parts
Extended devices are upgraded versions of AE2 devices. The ME Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots, 4 times as many as an ordinary Pattern Provider. The Extended Export and Import Buses work about 8x faster than the regular ones.[3]

Advanced AE and ExpandedAE
The quest chapter is called "Extended & Advanced AE", and the recipes show why. The pack changed several Advanced AE recipes, including the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, so they build on Extended AE parts. The Advanced AE Quantum Computer parts are among them, and the Concurrent Processor feeds into those recipes.[3][12]

The wireless side is linked too. The pack changed the combine recipes that tie the Wireless Extended Pattern Access Terminal to the Wireless Pattern Access Terminal and the Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal, and ExpandedAE has its own combine recipe for the Wireless Expanded Pattern Encoding Terminal. The one for the Wireless Crafting Terminal is shown below.[12]

Entro Crystals across mods
The Entro Crystal is the resource that reaches furthest into other mods. Its in-world transform recipe uses Fluix Crystals and entro dust. The pack also changed an Advanced AE reaction recipe for it, and added a Mystical Agriculture route that crafts it from Entro Essence.[3][12]
Shaped (kubejs)
8 × Entro Essence
Recipe id: kubejs:mysticalagriculture/entro_essence_crafting
Entro Crystals also reach into the Pokémon content. The pack changed the Crystal Assembler recipe for the Terapagos Crystal so that it takes an Entro Crystal, along with Tera Shards from another mod. The Terapagos quest is "Terapagos" quest.[11][12]
Crystal Assembler (extendedae)

Compressing, silicon and cells
All the Compressed has pack-changed recipes that pack and unpack Entro Block into Entro Block 1x, and Block of Silicon into Block of Silicon 1x.[12]
Quartz Blend becomes Silicon by smelting, by blasting, or through a Mekanism enriching recipe that the pack changed.[12]
The pack also added a Gravel Cell, an infinity-style cell that is built from Extended AE's Infinity Cobblestone Cell. Its recipe pulls in Allthemodium alloys, All the Compressed gravel and a Mekanism Crusher. It sits in the Infinity Cells quest, "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest.[3][12]

Canner addons
The ME Canner only fills fluids by default. The mod's own guide says other materials need an addon: Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon.[7]
Which All the Mons quests use Extended AE?
6 parts
Most of the Extended AE questline lives in a single chapter called Extended & Advanced AE. One more quest, in the Legendaries chapter, also asks for something from the mod. Here is how the chapter flows.[3][11]
The starting point
- "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest is the first quest here, and it follows a chapter entry quest named ExtendedAE. It asks for an Entro Seed, an observation task and an Entro Crystal. The quest text says you right-click a Fluix Block with the seed to create Budding Entroized Fluix, which grows Entro Buds.[3]
- "Complex Crafter: The Crystal Assembler" quest comes next and asks for the Crystal Assembler. The quest says you need it to build the Extended AE devices, and that it can also assemble processors 4 at a time.[3]
After the Crystal Assembler
Once you have the Crystal Assembler, the chapter branches. Several quests unlock at the same time, so you can take them in any order.[3]
- "Actively Placing From The Network: The Active Formation Plane" quest asks for the ME Active Formation Plane. The quest describes it as working like an export bus that treats the world as its medium, with no subnet needed.[3]
- "Can this Liquid: The ME Canner" quest asks for the ME Canner, which fills or empties containers that hold fluids, chemicals or energy.[3]
- "Get-Yer-Crystals-Fixed: The Crystal Fixer" quest asks for the Crystal Fixer, which repairs decaying budding Certus Quartz and Entroized Fluix.[3]
- "Blocks to Circuits: The Circuit Slicer" quest asks for the Circuit Slicer. The quest says it slices blocks into circuits, up to 9 at a time, or 4 for certus or entro.[3]
- "Better Pattern Access: The Extended Pattern Access Terminal" quest asks for the ME Extended Pattern Access Terminal. The quest highlights its ingredient-name search, in-GUI pattern highlight and in-world Pattern Provider highlight.[3]
- "Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest accepts any one of the extended devices: the import and export buses, Extended Charger, Extended Inscriber, Extended Molecular Assembler, ME Extended Drive, ME Extended IO Port, ME Extended Interface or ME Extended Pattern Provider. The quest text says the Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots and the extended buses work about 8x faster than the regular ones.[3]
Wireless chain
- "Connections across long distances: The Wireless Connector" quest asks for the ME Wireless Connector and the ME Wireless Setup Kit. Per the quest, the connector reaches other connectors up to about 1000 blocks away and can't cross dimensions.[3]
- "Branches of Connections: The Wireless Hub" quest follows and asks for the ME Wireless Hub. The quest says it connects to 8 different connectors or hubs and transfers 32 channels in total.[3]

- "Many Assemblers In One: The Assembler Matrix" quest unlocks after the extended devices quest. It asks for Assembler Matrix Frame and Assembler Matrix Wall. The quest walks you through a 7x7x7 matrix, starting with 43 frames and 125 walls, and its rewards give 25 of each. The text says a matrix can range from 3x3x3 to 7x7x7.[3]
- "Assembler Matrix Cores" quest asks for the Assembler Matrix Pattern Core, Assembler Matrix Craft Core and Assembler Matrix Speed Core. Per the quest, craft cores add 8 parallel crafting jobs, pattern cores add 36 pattern slots, and more than 5 speed cores have no extra effect.[3]
Cell quests
"Matter Condenser in a Cell: The Void Cell" quest asks for the ME Void Cell, and "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest asks for an infinity cell. Both unlock after the same earlier quest, ID 1E535784A9D3DE89, whose name isn't given in the sources, so they sit outside the Crystal Assembler branch. The Infinity Cells quest accepts Infinity Water Cell, Infinity Cobblestone Cell or any one of a long list of pack-added cells, such as lava, dirt, sand and more.[3]
Outside the chapter
The Legendaries chapter quest "Terapagos" quest lists an Entro Cluster among its many tasks. The others include a Life Orb, four colored hearts and a custom task, so this one is only a single piece of a larger ritual.[11]
