What is Mystical Agriculture?
2 parts
Mystical Agriculture is all about growing your resources instead of digging for them. You plant crops that produce essences, and those essences get crafted into materials, mob drops, tools, armor and more. The mod adds more than 130 resource crops covering vanilla materials, modded materials and mob drops.[1]
If you like the idea of a big farm that pumps out the stuff you'd normally have to mine or hunt, this mod is for you. As the pack's own quest puts it, you can farm pretty much anything, from Honey to Steel to Wither Skeletons.[1][2]
How the progression works
- Go mining for Prosperity Ore to get Prosperity Shard, a core crafting ingredient in the mod ("Prosperity Shards" quest).[3]
- Collect Inferium Essence, the base tier of all essences. You get it from mining, killing mobs, or growing seeds ("Inferium" quest).[3]
- Make Prosperity Seed Base, which you need to create resource crops. Seeds are crafted using an Infusion Altar and Infusion Pedestal blocks, and you right-click the altar with a Wand to start the infusion.[1][3]
- Use an Infusion Crystal to tier up your essence and unlock bigger and better essences ("Infusion Crystal" quest).[3]
- Put those essences into gear: tools and armor go from Inferium up to Supremium, and you can upgrade them with Augments.[1]
Where it fits on the ATM Star path
Mystical Agriculture has its own spot in the pack's ATM Star chapter, starting with "Mystical Agriculture" quest, which asks for Inferium Essence. The quest is upfront about it: you'll need to do a lot of farming with this mod to make the ATM Star. From there, the chapter points you to three items.[2]
- "Master Infusion Crystal" quest: the Master Infusion Crystal does everything the normal Infusion Crystal does, but it has infinite uses and can upgrade 4 blocks of essence to the next tier in block form. It takes Supremium to make.[2]
- "Awakened Supremium Ingot Block" quest: Awakening lets you make Awakened Essence through the Awakening Ritual, and that leads to the Awakened Supremium Ingot Block.[2]
- "Witherproof Bricks" quest: Witherproof Bricks are the nicer-looking version of Witherproof Blocks, handy for keeping the Wither from breaking and blowing up your build.[2]
How do you get started with Mystical Agriculture?
4 parts
Everything in this mod starts underground. Your first job is to go mining for Prosperity ore and Inferium ore: Prosperity Shard is a core crafting ingredient for almost everything, and Inferium Essence is the base tier of all the essences. You can also pick up Inferium Essence by killing mobs while you're down there.[1][3]
The pack adds machine recipes for both ores, so if you already have some early automation running you can process them instead of smelting by hand.[4]

Seeds and the Infusion Altar
Once shards are flowing, make Prosperity Seed Base, you need these to create any resource crop. Seeds themselves are made in the Infusion Altar with Infusion Pedestal around it. Place the altar down first and it shows you exactly where the pedestals go.[1][3]
Your first seeds should be Inferium Seeds, so you have a renewable source of essence instead of mining forever. Plant them on Inferium Farmland: essence farmland isn't required, but it increases growth speed, and Inferium Seeds benefit the most. Later on, some seeds will require a specific farmland tier to be planted at all.[3]
If you're running Immersive Engineering, the pack also has a cloche recipe for Inferium, which is a nice hands-off way to farm it early.[4]

Tiering up
To reach the bigger essences you need an Infusion Crystal. Combining 4 Inferium Essence with the crystal gives 1 Prudentium Essence (tier 2), and 4 Prudentium the same way gives Tertium Essence (tier 3). Later you can craft an Infusion Crystal that doesn't break.[3]
Quality of life worth making early
- Watering Can: fill it by right-clicking a water source, then hold right-click on your crops to water everything in its area. Essence watering cans can auto-water: shift-right-click in the air to toggle it, and the can looks enchanted while it's on.[3]
- Inferium Growth Accelerator: placed directly underneath farmland to slightly speed up growth. Every tier gives the same growth rate; higher tiers just reach further, so you can stack more under one plant.[3]
- Mystical Fertilizer: works like bone meal but better, instantly growing whatever you use it on to full maturity.[3]
- Seed Reprocessor: turns spare essence seeds back into essence, so nothing goes to waste.[3]
Your first gear
Starting from Inferium Essence you can make ingots and then essence tools and armour. Work through "Inferium Tools" quest and "Inferium Armor" quest first; both sets upgrade to higher tiers alongside your essences, and both can be augmented later using the Tinkering Table and Unattuned Augment.[3]
How does Mystical Agriculture work?
7 parts
The whole mod is built on one idea: instead of mining or grinding for a resource, you grow it. There are more than 130 resource crops covering vanilla materials, mob drops and a long list of modded metals and gems, plus six sets of tools and armor that you upgrade with augments. Everything below is the plumbing that makes that loop work.[1]
Seeds and the Infusion Altar
Seeds are not made at a crafting table. You build an Infusion Altar and its Infusion Pedestals, and when you place the altar in the world it shows you exactly where the pedestals need to go. A normal resource seed wants some of its own resource plus the tier essence of that seed; mob seeds instead want Soul Jars of the matching mob.[1]
That altar route is the only route here, because this pack leaves General.seedCraftingRecipes off, so the optional vanilla crafting recipes for seeds are never generated.[5]
Moving essence up a tier needs an Infusion Crystal. Keep an eye on its durability: this pack sets General.infusionCrystalUses to 500 uses instead of the mod default of 1,000, so the basic crystal runs out twice as fast as you might be used to.[1][5]
Farmland, growth and harvesting
Essence Farmland is the upgrade to plain farmland and gets you more essence per harvest from Inferium Seeds. You can craft it, or make it in-world by right-clicking vanilla farmland with an essence, which stays enabled here through General.essenceFarmlandConversion.[1][5]
You are never forced onto a specific farmland type, though. General.requiresEffectiveFarmland is off in this pack, so resource crops will still grow even when they are not on their effective farmland.[5]
For speed you have two tools. Growth Accelerators sit under a crop and grow the plant above them faster, with General.growthAcceleratorCooldown set to 10 seconds between growth ticks. Watering Cans and Mystical Fertilizer cover the rest, and the fertilizer instantly grows a crop or sapling.[1][5][6]
For harvesting, Scythes and Sickles clear fields by hand, and the Harvester block does it automatically. Each harvest of a resource crop also has a chance to drop a Fertilized Essence, controlled by General.fertilizedEssenceChance, which this pack leaves at the mod default of 0.1. Extra seeds from a second drop are not a factor here, since General.secondarySeedDrops is turned off.[1][5]
Where essence actually comes from
Start underground: Inferium Ore, Prosperity Ore and Soulstone all generate in this pack, and each Soulstone cluster has a chance to spawn Soulium Ore instead, set by World.souliumOreChance at 0.05.[5]
Mob souls
Mob-drop crops run on souls. Keep Soul Jars in your inventory and kill the matching mobs with a Soulium Dagger; the souls collect into the jars, which then feed the mob seed recipe at the altar.[1]
- Different dagger variants tilt the yield: one grants additional souls from hostile creatures, another grants additional souls from peaceful creatures, and the creative dagger grants infinite souls from all creatures.[6]
- The Soul Siphoner enchantment increases souls collected by killing mobs by 10 percent per level.[6]
- Spare mob essence isn't wasted: the Soulium Spawner lets you spend it to spawn mobs.[1]
Machines and upgrades
Beyond the Harvester, the machine line-up covers upgradable Essence Furnaces for faster processing, the Seed Reprocessor to get value out of spare seeds, and the Enchanter, which spends leftover resource essence to enchant tools, armor or books.[1]

Machine speed is shown directly in tooltips: a machine lists its operation speed in ticks, and machine upgrades such as the Supremium Machine Upgrade and the Awakened Machine Supremium Upgrade list a speed multiplier. Slot the upgrade in and the operation time comes down.[6]
Unverified The sources here don't cover the energy, fluid or item-pipe behaviour of these machines (whether they need power, and which sides accept automation) so test a single machine before you build a wall of them.
The Awakening Altar
The endgame multiblock is the Awakening Altar with its Awakening Pedestals. It produces Awakened Supremium Essence, the high-level crafting material behind upgraded versions of your Supremium gear, usually by infusing Cognizant Dust with a Supremium Block.[6]

Cognizant Dust comes from the two boss fights: the Ender Dragon and the Wither drop it when killed with an Essence Weapon enchanted with Mystical Enlightenment. Both General.dragonDropsCognizant and General.witherDropsCognizant are enabled in this pack, but the separate essence drops from those bosses are not.[5][6]
From there, awakened essence feeds the usual chain of blocks, ingots, gemstones and the Awakened Supremium Growth Accelerator. Note that the pack has adjusted the ingot and gemstone recipes, so check them in-game rather than assuming the mod defaults.[4]

Tinkering and augments
Essence tools and armor are upgraded through the tinkering system by slotting in Augments, which cover things like Wither Resistance, Absorption, Speed and Jump Boost, along with AOE mining, attack, tilling and pathing patterns.[1][6]
- A full set of Awakened Supremium armor grants the Plant Growth AOE set bonus, which is enabled via General.awakenedSupremiumSetBonus.[5]
- Supremium and Awakened Supremium tools and armor can be enchanted in an Enchanting Table here, since both General.enchantableSupremiumTools and General.enchantableSupremiumArmor are on.[5]
- That armor is not indestructible: General.unbreakableSupremiumArmor is off, so it still takes durability damage.[5]
How do you progress through Mystical Agriculture?
6 parts
Mystical Agriculture in this pack is a straight ladder: you start with Inferium Essence and keep infusing it upward through Prudentium, Tertium, Imperium and Supremium, then finish with Awakened Supremium at the very top. The quest chapter walks that same path, and each essence tier unlocks better seeds, better farmland, better growth accelerators and better gear.[3]
Getting started
- Grab your first Inferium Essence. It is the base tier of all essences, and you can get it from mining, killing mobs, or growing seeds, as "Inferium" quest explains.[3]
- Go mining for Prosperity Ore to get Prosperity Shard, the core crafting ingredient of the mod, then turn those into Prosperity Seed Base so you can make resource crops.[3]
- Build the Infusion Altar and its Infusion Pedestals. Place the altar first and it shows you where the pedestals go, and the altar needs a redstone signal to start infusing.[3]
- Craft a Wand so you can right-click the altar to kick off the infusion process instead of wiring redstone every time.[3]
- Make an Infusion Crystal. This is what lets you tier up essences and seeds.[3]
The essence ladder
- Tier 1, Inferium Essence: the starting point for everything.[3]
- Tier 2, Prudentium Essence: made by combining 4 Inferium with an Infusion Crystal.[3]
- Tier 3, Tertium Essence: made by combining 4 Prudentium with an Infusion Crystal.[3]
- Tier 4, Imperium Essence: made by combining 4 Tertium with an Infusion Crystal.[3]
- Tier 5, Supremium Essence: made by combining 4 Imperium with an Infusion Crystal.[3]
Seeds follow the same tiers
Seed quests are gated behind the matching essence tier and farmland. Tier 1 seeds like Stone Seeds, Dirt Seeds and the elemental Fire Seeds open up once you have Inferium Farmland and the altar; Tier 2 seeds such as Coal Seeds want Prudentium Farmland, Tier 3 seeds like Copper Seeds want Tertium Farmland, and Tier 4 seeds like Blaze Seeds come after Imperium.[3]
Mob seeds are their own branch. "Creating Mob Seeds" quest sits after Prudentium and asks for a Soulium Dagger, a Soul Jar and a Soul Extractor: kill mobs with the dagger to collect souls, or feed mob drops like rotten flesh into the extractor to fill jars, then infuse them into the matching seed.[3]
Essence Farmland is not required to grow these seeds, but it speeds them up (especially Inferium Seeds), and some seeds require a specific farmland tier to be planted at all.[3]
Growth accelerators
Growth Accelerators go directly under the farmland and slightly speed up growth. Every tier provides the same rate of growth ticks; what changes is range, so a higher tier lets you stack more accelerators below one plant. The quest subtitles list 9 blocks for Inferium Growth Accelerator, 18 for Prudentium, 27 for Tertium and 36 for Imperium.[3]
Gear tiers
Essence gear starts at Inferium: "Inferium Armor" quest and "Inferium Tools" quest have you make the first armor and tools from Inferium ingots, and both can be upgraded tier by tier and augmented in the Tinkering Table once you have an Unattuned Augment.[3]
Upgrading keeps your old piece in the recipe, so you are never throwing gear away. Here is the Imperium pickaxe as an example of the pattern every tier uses.[4]

The Awakening
The top of the ladder is Awakened Supremium, made through the Awakening Ritual on the Awakening Altar with Awakening Pedestals. Awakened recipes take your Supremium item plus Awakened Supremium Ingot, an Awakened Supremium Gemstone and the four elemental essences, which is why those Tier 1 elemental seeds are worth setting up early.[2][3][4]

How does Mystical Agriculture work with other mods?
5 parts
This pack wires Mystical Agriculture into a lot of other mods, mostly by turning essences into other mods' materials and by using Mystical Agriculture items as gates for big crafts. Everything below comes from recipes the pack adds or changes, so it may differ from what you remember from the standalone mod.[4]
Essences into other mods' materials
The pack adds crafting recipes that turn a single essence into a material from another mod. Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium essences give you the matching nuggets, for example Vibranium Nugget. Azure Silver and Crimson Iron essences give Azure Silver Ingot and Crimson Iron Ingot. Black Quartz essence gives Black Quartz, and Darkstone essence gives Darkstone. Entro essence gives Entro Crystal, and Sky Steel essence gives Sky Steel Ingot.[4]

Two mob and resource essences also feed other mods. Enderman essence makes an Enderman Head, and Rubber essence makes Dry Rubber.[4]

Dyenamics dyes and concrete
Dye Essence is the pack's route to Dyenamics colors. Lavender Dye comes from an added recipe, and the other Dyenamics dyes, such as Amber Dye and Wine Dye, use recipes the pack changed. Dyenamics concrete uses changed recipes too, and they run on Water Essence.[4]

Immersive Engineering Cloche
The pack adds Cloche recipes that grow essence from seeds. Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium seeds need Magical Soil. Awakened Draconium, Dragon Egg, Nether Star and Nitro Crystal seeds each need their own crux item, such as Nether Star Crux.[4]
Shaped (kubejs)
Recipe id: allthemods:kjs/magical_soil
Magical Soil is a pack-made item, and its recipe pulls in several Mystical Agriculture and mysticalagradditions parts.
Machine and fluid recipes
The pack changed a set of planting recipes in the mekmm namespace. Each takes nutrient solution and a seed and gives the matching essence. The dump shows them for seeds from Air through Deepslate, and the list may be cut off.[4]
Create Enchantment Industry also has a changed emptying recipe, so an Experience Droplet can be turned into Liquid Experience.[4]
Progression crafts that use Mystical Agriculture items
Several pack-added crafts treat Mystical Agriculture and mysticalagradditions items as key ingredients next to items from many other mods. Creative Essence needs the Master Infusion Crystal. Philosopher's Fuel needs the Awakened Supremium Ingot Block and Insanium Coal Block. Wither's Compass needs Witherproof Bricks and the Nether Star Crux.[4]

Which All the Mons quests use Mystical Agriculture?
5 parts
Mystical Agriculture has its own quest chapter in the pack, called "Mystical Agriculture", and it also shows up in the "The ATM Star" chapter. The main chapter follows the essence tiers, and every tier opens up its own gear and seeds. The quest list I was given was cut off partway through the Tier 4 seeds, so everything past that point is unconfirmed.[2][3]
Opening quests
Several quests unlock straight after the chapter's opening quest. Each one just asks you to obtain a single item, and each one explains it.[3]
- "Inferium" quest asks for Inferium Essence, the base tier of all essences. Most of the early tree hangs off this quest.[3]
- "Prosperity Shards" quest asks for Prosperity Shard, a core crafting ingredient. The quest says you find Prosperity Ore by mining.[3]
- a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" asks for the Watering Can. Right-click a water source to fill it, then hold right-click on crops. Essence watering cans can auto-water, which you toggle with shift-right-click in the air.[3]
- a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" (the Soulium Spawner), a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" (the Soul Extractor) and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" (the Seed Reprocessor, which turns seeds back into essence) are all unlocked here.[3]
- "Enchanter" quest asks for the Enchanter, and "Mystical Fertilizer" quest asks for Mystical Fertilizer, which instantly grows a crop to full maturity.[3]
Seeds and the Infusion Altar
"Prosperity Seed Base" quest comes after Prosperity Shards, and you need that base to make resource crops. "Infusion Altar" quest follows it and asks for the Infusion Altar and Infusion Pedestal. The altar needs a Redstone signal to start infusing.[3]
"Inferium Farmland" quest comes after Inferium and asks for Inferium Farmland and Inferium Seeds. Once you have that farmland and the altar, the Tier 1 seed quests open, such as a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" (fire seeds), a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" (stone seeds), a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" (water seeds) and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" (air seeds). The earth, wood, dirt, deepslate and ice seeds have their own quests too.[3]
The Inferium branch
These quests all come after Inferium: "Infusion Crystal" quest, "Wand" quest (the Wand, which activates the altar), "Inferium Armor" quest, "Inferium Tools" quest and "Inferium Growth Accelerator" quest. The armor quest asks for all four pieces, and the tools quest accepts any one of the listed tools.[3]
"Unattuned Augment" quest unlocks after both Inferium Tools and Inferium Armor, and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" follows it. ""Furnace"" quest comes after Prosperity Shards. a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" needs both Prosperity Shards and Inferium and accepts any machine upgrade from Inferium through Awakened Supremium. a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" asks for the Harvester.[3]
Climbing the essence tiers
- "Prudentium" quest (Tier 2) comes after the Infusion Crystal quest. Its tools, armor, farmland and growth accelerator quests follow.[3]
- "Creating Mob Seeds" quest also comes after Prudentium. It asks for the Soulium Dagger, Soul Jar and Soul Extractor. It unlocks the Tier 2 mob seeds, such as slime, turtle, fish, cow, pig, sheep and chicken. The other Tier 2 seeds, such as saltpeter, silicon and aluminum, open after Prudentium Farmland.[3]
- "Tertium" quest (Tier 3) follows Prudentium. Tertium Tools, Armor, Farmland and the growth accelerator come next. The Tier 3 mob seeds (zombie, skeleton, rabbit, spider, creeper) open after Tertium. The metal and gem seeds, such as iron, copper, tin and redstone, open after Tertium Farmland.[3]
- "Imperium" quest (Tier 4) follows Tertium. Blaze, enderman, breeze and ghast seeds, plus experience seeds with the Experience Capsule, open after Imperium. Seeds like gold, sapphire, osmium and end seeds open after "Imperium Farmland" quest.[3]
- "Supremium" quest follows Imperium. After it come "Cognizant Dust" quest, "Master Infusion Crystal" quest (an unbreakable version of the Infusion Crystal) and "Supremium Tools" quest.[3]
The growth accelerator quests list ranges as Prudentium 18 blocks, Tertium 27 blocks and Imperium 36 blocks. The quest text also says all tiers give the same growth rate, and higher tiers just reach further.[3]
The ATM Star path
The "The ATM Star" chapter has its own "Mystical Agriculture" quest, which also asks for Inferium Essence. It says you will do a lot of farming with this mod to make the ATM Star. Three quests hang off it.[2]
- "Witherproof Bricks" quest asks for Witherproof Bricks, which stop the Wither from breaking blocks.[2]
- "Master Infusion Crystal" quest asks for the Master Infusion Crystal. It has infinite uses and needs Supremium to make.[2]
- "Awakened Supremium Ingot Block" quest asks for the Awakened Supremium Ingot Block, which comes from the Awakening Ritual.[2]
Unverified The quest list I had was cut off in the middle of the Tier 4 seeds, so I can't confirm the Supremium farmland and growth accelerator quests, the Tier 5 seeds, or the full Awakened Supremium quests. The Inferium Growth Accelerator quest also contradicts itself: its subtitle says a range of 9 blocks, but its text says 12.
Which Mystical Agriculture config options matter?
5 parts
Most of Mystical Agriculture's config is left alone in this pack, but two values were changed from the mod default. Here's what to know before you start farming. Everything below lives in the common config file.[5]
Changed from the mod default
- General.inferiumDropChance is 0 in this pack. The mod default is 0.2, so mobs no longer drop Inferium Essence when killed. You'll get your essence from crops instead.[5]
- General.infusionCrystalUses is 500 in this pack, half of the mod default of 1,000. The basic Infusion Crystal wears out twice as fast, so plan to make more of them.[5]
Farming settings
- General.requiresEffectiveFarmland is false, so resource crops don't need to be planted on their effective Farmland to grow.[5]
- General.essenceFarmlandConversion is true, so right-clicking Farmland with an Essence creates Essence Farmland.[5]
- General.secondarySeedDrops is false, so crops have no chance of dropping a second seed when harvested.[5]
- General.seedCraftingRecipes is false, so vanilla crafting recipes for seeds are not generated.[5]
- General.fertilizedEssenceChance is 0.1, the same as the mod default. That's the chance a harvested Resource Crop drops a Fertilized Essence.[5]
- General.growthAcceleratorCooldown is 10 seconds between Growth Accelerator growth ticks, which is also the mod default.[5]
- General.fakePlayerWatering is false, so fake players can't use watering cans.[5]
Bosses
- General.dragonDropsEssence and General.witherDropsEssence are both false, so neither the Ender Dragon nor the Wither drops essence when killed with an essence weapon.[5]
- General.dragonDropsCognizant and General.witherDropsCognizant are both true. Both bosses can drop Cognizant Dust when killed with a Mystical Enlightenment enchanted essence weapon.[5]
Armor and tools
- General.enchantableSupremiumArmor and General.enchantableSupremiumTools are both true, so Supremium and Awakened Supremium gear can be enchanted in an Enchanting Table.[5]
- General.unbreakableSupremiumArmor is false, so that armor can still break.[5]
- General.awakenedSupremiumSetBonus is true, so a full Awakened Supremium set grants the Plant Growth AOE set bonus.[5]
World generation
World.generateInferiumOre, World.generateProsperityOre and World.generateSoulstone are all true, so all three generate in the world. World.souliumOreChance is 0.05, the mod default. That's the chance a Soulium Ore spawns in a Soulstone cluster.[5]
What changed in Mystical Agriculture between versions?
1 part
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Mystical Agriculture 8.0.28 for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[7]
The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. They cover the releases I have notes for, so some version numbers in between are missing.[8][9][10][11][12][13]
Recent releases
- 8.0.28 (the version in the pack): added an "enchantableSupremiumArmor" config option and fixed the "enchantableSupremiumTools" config option. It also fixed the Infusion Altar and Awakening Altar potentially loading neighboring chunks.[7][8]
- 8.0.27: fixed the enchantment level always being 1 when the input ingredients are flipped in the Enchanter.[9]
- 8.0.26: fixed machine blocks not being properly Clearable.[10]
- 8.0.24: updated the ja_jp translations.[11]
- 8.0.23: updated the pt_br translations.[12]
- 8.0.22: updated the pt_br translations and created default "incorrect_for_*_tool" tag JSON files for all tool tiers.[13]
There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I can't say whether the pack changed any of its values between releases.[7]
