What is AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 that's all about convenience. It makes handling your ME System smoother and pushes what your end-game setup can do, with upgraded pattern providers, multiblock crafting computers and plenty of quality of life extras.[1][2]
This pack ships AdvancedAE version 1.6.2 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[3]
What you get
- Advanced Pattern Providers let you choose which face each input in a pattern gets pushed to. You can automate machines that need specific sides for specific inputs with a single block and no pipes. There's also an extended version that holds up to 36 patterns.[1][4]
- The Quantum Computer is a crafting multiblock that runs an unlimited number of crafting tasks as long as it has crafting storage left, and all of those tasks share its co-processors. It scales up to 5x5x5 and uses a single channel.[1]
- The Quantum Crafter is an auto crafter that runs a series of crafts every tick while pulling straight from your ME inventory. It can also handle recursive crafts like smithing templates.[1]
- The Quantum Armor Set links to your ME System for perks like flight, night vision, a magnet and auto feeding from storage.[1][5]
- You also get extra devices: the Reaction Chamber, the Stock Export Bus, the ME Throughput Monitor, the Advanced IO Bus and the Import Export Bus.[1][6][7]
Where it fits in this pack
AdvancedAE is part of the ATM Star path. In Chapter 3: The ATM Star, the quest "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest unlocks after the Applied Energistics quest and asks you for a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. The quest warns that the Hammers and Pliers on the Crafting Table can't make the parts for Quantum computers. You'll need a Crystal Assembler and a whole bunch of Singularities, so plan for a serious investment.[8]
The armor shows up in the Basic Armor chapter. The quest "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest asks for all four pieces: Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots. By default the set has stats similar to Netherite Armor and can use energy as a shield, and you can boost it further with upgrades.[5][9]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
5 parts
AdvancedAE is an add-on for your ME system, so this guide starts with the cheap quality-of-life pieces and works up to the quantum gear. Each step below shows the in-pack recipe.[1][2]
Advanced Pattern Encoder
Start with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it in hand to open its GUI, drop in an encoded Processing Pattern, and pick which block face each ingredient goes into. That lets one block feed a picky machine without a mess of pipes. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version, so use the one below.[1][10][11]

Advanced Extended Pattern Provider
Advanced patterns only do the per-face trick in an advanced provider. In any other provider they behave like normal patterns. The extended version holds up to 36 patterns. The pack changed this recipe too, and it is built around an ExtendedAE pattern provider.[4][10][11]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaeadvpatpro
If you already have providers, the Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade upgrades regular or Extended ones and keeps their slot count, so you don't lose the materials you spent on them.[12]
Quantum Computer
Next comes the quantum computer, a crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left. The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of it, with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads by itself. It is the only block that forms a working quantum computer on its own, and a standalone core needs power through its Up or Down sides.[13][14]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcore
The core recipe uses the Quantum Crafting Unit, and the pack changed that recipe. The core also needs Shattered Singularity, which is produced by a chemical reaction in the Reaction Chamber.[11][14]
Growing the computer
To scale up, add Quantum Computer Accelerator blocks for more co-processors, which every running craft shares. Add 128M Quantum Computer Storage or 256M Quantum Computer Storage blocks for more crafting storage. The pack changed the accelerator recipe.[11][13]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaequantumaccel
The Quantum Computer Multi-Threader is the next step up. The pack changed its recipe so it is made in the Crystal Assembler. The quest "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest covers it in the chapter The ATM Star, after the Applied Energistics quest.[8][11]
Quantum Armor
Last comes the quantum armor, covered by the quest "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest in the Basic Armor chapter. By default its defenses are comparable to Netherite, and it can use energy as a shield. Link each piece to your network, and stay in range of the connected access point so the linked features work. Once it is equipped, press N by default to open the upgrade menu. The pack changed the armor recipes, so check the helmet below.[5][9][11]

How does AdvancedAE work?
8 parts
Advanced AE is an addon for your ME system. It adds pattern providers that push items to specific sides of a machine, multiblock crafting computers whose crafts all share the same co-processors, and a pile of quality-of-life buses and tools. Here is how each system works in this pack.[2]
Quantum Computer
The quantum computer is a special crafting computer. It can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left, and every pattern it runs shares all of its co-processors. The whole multiblock uses a single channel.[1][13]
The Quantum Core is the heart of it. The mod's guide lists it at 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads on its own, and it is the only block that can form a quantum computer by itself. If you run it standalone, power has to come in through the Up or Down sides, where the connectors are.[13]
To grow it, you add storage blocks (128M or 256M each), Quantum Computer Accelerators for co-processors, and the two special multiplier blocks: the Data Entangler, which multiplies the storage of every storage block in the multiblock, and the Multi-Threader, which multiplies the accelerators' co-processing power. The Quantum Structure blocks form the frame and hold everything together.[13]
Pack values you should know
The mod's guide text quotes its own numbers, but this pack sets several of them through the common config. These are the values you will actually get:[13][15]
- Maximum multiblock size is 7 per side ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] = 7, allowed range 5 to 12).[13][15]
- Each Quantum Computer Accelerator provides 12 co-processing threads ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] = 12, range 4 to 16). The guide says 8.[13][14][15]
- The Multi-Threader multiplies co-processors by 6 ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] = 6). The guide says 4. You can have 1 per multiblock ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] = 1, range 1 to 2).[13][15]
- The Data Entangler multiplies storage by 6 ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] = 6). The guide says 4. You can have 1 per multiblock ([[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] = 1, range 1 to 2).[13][15]
Building the multiblock
- The external dimensions can't exceed the maximum size, which is 7x7x7 in this pack.[13][15]
- No empty spaces are allowed inside. You can fill gaps, but the filler gives no extra benefit.[13]
- Every block on the outside layer must be a Quantum Structure block.[13][14]
- You can use at most one Data Entangler and at most one Multi-Threader.[13][15]
The pack changed the recipes for both the Quantum Crafting Unit and the Quantum Computer Accelerator. The Shattered Singularity used in the accelerator comes from a chemical reaction in the Reaction Chamber.[11][14]

Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter that works straight from the ME system's inventory. It needs one channel and a cable connection. It can also run fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts, where an input is also an output.[16]
- Encode the recipes you want run indefinitely as crafting patterns and put them in the crafter's pattern slots.[16]
- Use the square button under each pattern to enable or disable it. Disabled patterns are never crafted.[16]
- Click the cog to open the Pattern Configuration UI. There you set how much of each ingredient to keep inside the ME system at all times, and a maximum amount of the end product so you avoid over-crafting expensive items.[16]
- Type the number and press Enter to apply it. Math expressions work, and an indicator on the right shows whether the value was applied. An output limit of 0 removes the limit, so crafting continues until the inputs run out.[14][16]
By default, crafted items are pushed from the output slots into the ME system. Left-clicking the cell button on the left toolbar switches output to adjacent inventories instead, and a second button lets you choose which sides are allowed for auto-export.[14][16]
The crafter takes two kinds of upgrade cards. One kind greatly accelerates crafting, reaching 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and the other gives you redstone control. The Quantum Crafter Terminal, and its wireless version, lets you manage all your crafters from one place.[16][17]
Directional pattern providers
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider lets you choose which face of the target machine each individual ingredient in a pattern is pushed into. That means machines that need specific inputs on specific sides can be automated with one block and no pipes. The extended version holds up to 36 patterns.[4]
You set the faces with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it to open the GUI, then put an encoded Processing Pattern in the left slot. Each raw ingredient is listed with a button for every possible face. Leaving it on "A" sends the item to whatever face is directly connected to the provider, while picking a face forces insertion there.[10][14]
Upgrade items convert providers without moving patterns. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular pattern providers and ExtendedAE extended providers and keeps their current slot count. The Capacity Upgrade turns a regular provider directly into an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[12][14]
The pack changed the recipes for the encoder and for the advanced extended provider. You can also switch the provider between its block and cable-part forms with a shapeless recipe.[11]

Buses
The ME Import Export Bus combines an import bus and an export bus. The filter sets the stacks to export, and anything not on the filter is valid to import.[7]
The ME Stock Export Bus exports an exact amount of each filtered stack. It tracks how much is already in the target inventory and doesn't insert above that number. Drag an item into the filter slot and middle-click to set the amount. It will not pull out extras if the count goes over. According to the mod's project page, it also accepts a crafting card so it can craft what it needs.[1][14][18]
The ME Advanced IO Bus inherits the functions of both of its parent buses. It takes some time to ramp up to speed, then runs very fast when fully upgraded. It exports according to its filter up to a fixed amount. Import and export operations are counted separately, so the bus will not get stuck doing one or the other. With the regulate option on, it prioritizes importing anything over the set amount, then imports whatever isn't filtered.[6][14]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:advanced_io_bus
Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber speeds up chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a lot of power. Acceleration cards increase the power it needs per tick. If it draws power through the ME system and can't get a full tick's worth, you may see flickering, so give the grid energy buffers. A warning shows on screen when power is insufficient.[14][19]
- Full block pattern provider: it connects the chamber directly to the grid so it can draw power as needed. Part-form providers and interfaces don't provide a grid connection, so you would need a fluix cable attached directly to the chamber.[19]
- External power: any source that can push energy can fill its buffers.[19]
- Induction Cards (needs Applied Flux): they go in cable-part or directional pattern providers and export power from Energy Cells. They start slow and ramp up, so speed won't be maxed at first.[19]
Quantum armor and monitors
Quantum armor pieces link to your ME system individually, and the extra perks only work while you are in range of the connected access point. Equip the pieces and press N (the default hotkey) to open the configuration menu, where you add, remove and toggle upgrade cards. The Auto Feeding Card and Auto Stock Card both rely on that link to pull items from the system.[5][14]
The ME Throughput Monitor works like a normal monitor with an added throughput meter for one item or fluid, and it needs no channel. Right-click with an item, or double-right-click with a fluid container, to set it. Right-click with an empty hand to clear it, and shift-right-click with an empty hand to lock it. The configurator cycles it between items per tick, per second and per minute, and readings take a moment to stabilise after you change modes.[20]
How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
4 parts
AdvancedAE falls into stages in this pack: smarter pattern tools, the Quantum Computer, and the Quantum Armor. The mod is about improving how you handle your ME system and expanding end-game setups, and many of its recipes build on parts from Applied Energistics and ExtendedAE.[2][11]
First: directional pattern tools
The Advanced Pattern Provider lets you choose which face of the target machine each item in a pattern is pushed into. That means machines that need specific inputs on specific sides can be automated with one block and no pipes. There is also an extended version, the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, which holds up to 36 patterns.[4]
You don't have to rebuild your setup to get there. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts a regular AE Pattern Provider or an ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Provider into the advanced version and keeps the slot count it had before.[12]
To set the faces, you need the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Advanced patterns only work directionally in advanced providers. In any other provider they behave like normal patterns. If one item can't be inserted into its chosen face, nothing is inserted directionally and the normal provider behaviour takes over.[10]
The pack changed the recipes for the Advanced Pattern Provider, the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, the upgrade item and the encoder, so don't rely on the mod's defaults. These are the in-pack versions:[11]

The bus upgrades fit in at this stage too. The ME Import Export Bus mixes an import bus and an export bus: the filter sets what gets exported, and anything not on the filter can be imported. The ME Advanced IO Bus is the fused-together, more powerful follow-up and inherits the functions of both parents. Both use the mod's standard recipes in this pack.[6][7][11]

Second: the Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer is a multiblock that can run an unlimited number of crafts and shares co-processors, as long as it has crafting storage left.[2]
The pack changed the recipes that gate this stage: the Quantum Crafting Unit, the Quantum Computer Accelerator and the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. Check each one below.[11]

Third: Quantum Armor
The quest "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest in the Basic Armor chapter asks for the full set: the Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots. By default the armor has stats similar to Netherite and uses energy as a shield. It can be linked to your storage system, and upgrades like Flight, Night Vision and recharging make it even stronger.[9]
The boots negate fall damage, and the chestplate removes the mining penalty while flying.[5]
The armor recipes are changed by the pack, so follow these rather than the mod's defaults:[11]

Linking and upgrade cards
Each armor piece links to your system when you insert it into the appropriate slot. The extra perks only work while you are within range of the connected access point. To install upgrades, wear the pieces and open the Quantum Armor Configuration Menu with the hotkey, which is N by default. There you can add or remove upgrades, toggle them and adjust their settings.[5]
Every upgrade card is crafted from the Quantum Upgrade Base Card, which does nothing on its own.[5]

- Convenience: the Auto Feeding Card feeds you from the system when you are hungry, and the Auto Stock Card keeps chosen stacks in your inventory. Both need the armor linked and in range.[5]
- Movement: the Sprint Speed Card and Swim Speed Card have configurable speeds, and they can also slow you down for more control. The Jump Height Card and Step Assist Card change vertical movement.[5]
- Utility: the Flight Card, Night Vision Card, ME Recharging Card, Portable Workbench Card and Pick Craft Card all have in-pack recipes.[11]
Most of the cards shown in the recipe data use the mod's standard recipes. One that the pack changed is the Strength Card.[11]

How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
7 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so almost everything it adds plugs straight into AE2 parts like processors, wireless access points and speed cards. In this pack it also reaches into several other mods. The pack changes some of those recipes and adds a few of its own, so the links below follow the pack's recipes rather than the mod's defaults.[1][11]
ExtendedAE
ExtendedAE is the closest partner. The pack changed the recipes for the Quantum Crafting Unit, the Quantum Computer Accelerator and the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader, all three shown below. The multi-threader is made in ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler, which matches the hint in the "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest quest.[8][11]
The ExtendedAE link in all three recipes is the Concurrent Processor.

The ExtendedAE part in this recipe is the ME Extended Pattern Provider.
ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler also has its own recipe for the Quantum Processor, alongside the Inscriber one.[11]
Allthemodium and the Quantum Armor
The pack changed the recipes for all four Quantum Armor pieces (Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots) so each one ties into Allthemodium gear. The boots recipe below shows the pattern. The pack also changed the Strength Card recipe, which has an Allthemodium link too, shown after it.[11]

The "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest quest pitches the armor next to the MekaSuit and Modern Industrialization gear. It says the armor has default stats similar to Netherite and can use energy as a shield. It can also be linked to your storage system to pull energy and items from it.[9]
AE2 Wireless Terminal Library
The pack adds a recipe for AdvancedAE's Magnet Card that is built around the Magnet Card from the wireless terminal library.[11]

Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/advanced_ae_magnet_card
The Wireless Quantum Crafter Terminal can also be combined with the wireless crafting terminal, the wireless pattern access terminal and the wireless pattern encoding terminal. That gives you one device that does several jobs.[11]
EnderDrives
The pack changed every EnderDrives storage component and ender disk recipe, from 1k up to 256k, so they now draw on AdvancedAE parts. In this pack, Ender storage means going through AdvancedAE first. The 1k component recipe below is the first step, followed by the 1k disk.[11]

Modern Industrialization and the pack's custom recipes
The pack adds a Modern Industrialization Assembler recipe for the Quantum Processor. It also adds an Inscriber recipe for the Printed Quantum Circuit with a pack-made universal press. Both are shown below.[11]

Nexium Emitter
The Nexium Emitter is a recipe added by the pack, and it needs the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. The rest of the recipe pulls in items from Create, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Modern Industrialization, Powah and AE Infinity Booster. This one is a real crossover, so plan ahead for it.[11]

Machine automation and crafting
- The Advanced Pattern Provider can push each pattern input to a chosen side of the target machine. The in-game guide singles out Mekanism machines as the kind that benefit, since you can automate them with one block and no pipes.[4]
- The Quantum Crafter can handle crafts that don't consume an ingredient, like Mystical Agriculture's essence upgrading.[1]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE shows up in two quests in this pack, in two different chapters. Neither one is a long chain, so this section is short.[8][9]
Basic Armor chapter
The quest "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest asks you to hand in the full set: Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots. The quest text says the armor has default stats similar to Netherite Armor. Like the MekaSuit, it can use Energy as a shield.[9]
The text also says you can install upgrades such as Flight, Night Vision and the ability to recharge. You can link the armor to your Storage System too. That lets you pull Energy and any item out of the system wherever you are.[9]
Chapter 3: The ATM Star
The quest "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest asks you to hand in the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. It comes after the Applied Energistics quest in that chapter, so finish that one first.[8]
The quest text warns that the Hammers and Pliers on the Crafting Table won't craft what you need for quantum computer parts. You'll need a Crystal Assembler, plus a whole bunch of Singularities.[8]
Unverified The sources don't say how the Basic Armor chapter and Chapter 3: The ATM Star are ordered relative to each other, or whether the armor quest has prerequisites. Check your in-game quest book for that.
Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
The AdvancedAE config options worth knowing about in All the Mods 10 8.1 all sit in the quantum computer section of the common config file. They control how big and how powerful your Quantum Computer multiblock can get, so check them before you plan a build.[21]
Quick refresher: the Quantum Computer is a special crafting unit that can run an unlimited number of crafting tasks as long as it has enough crafting storage. All of those tasks share every co-processor in the multiblock. On its own, the Quantum Core works as a crafting unit with 256M storage and 8 co-processors, and building a multiblock around it extends that a lot.[1]
Multiblock size
The mod's project page says the multiblock can scale up to 5x5x5. In this pack, [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] sets the maximum dimensions of the multiblock to 7, and the option accepts values from 5 to 12. That gives you more room than the project page describes.[1][21]
Data Entanglers and Multi-Threaders
These two special blocks are where the real power comes from. The Quantum Data Entangler multiplies the storage in the multiblock, and the Quantum Multi-Threader multiplies its co-processors. The project page gives a factor of 4 for each, but this pack raises both multipliers to 6.[1][21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] is set to 6, with an allowed range of 2 to 8.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] is set to 6, with an allowed range of 2 to 8.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is set to 1, so you get one Data Entangler per multiblock. The allowed range is 1 to 2.[21]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is set to 1, so you get one Multi-Threader per multiblock. The allowed range is 1 to 2.[21]
Accelerator threads
The pack sets [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] to 12, and the option accepts values from 4 to 16. Its description in the config file is the same as the one for the maximum number of Multi-Threaders, so the file doesn't explain clearly what this value does in game.[21]
Unverified Exactly how the accelerator threads value affects the Quantum Computer, and what the mod's own default values are for all of these options, can't be confirmed from the available sources.
What changed in AdvancedAE between versions?
AdvancedAE has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time. It was first included in All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier, and in 4.14 the pack ships version 1.6.2-1.21.1 (the file AdvancedAE-1.6.2-1.21.1.jar).[3]
The pack changelogs record these updates to the mod, oldest first:[22][23][24][25][26][27]
- All the Mods 10 2.29 updated Advanced AE from 1.2.1-1.21.1 to 1.2.2-1.21.1.[22]
- All the Mods 10 2.32 updated it from 1.2.2-1.21.1 to 1.2.3-1.21.1.[23]
- All the Mods 10 2.37 updated it from 1.2.3-1.21.1 to 1.2.5-1.21.1.[24]
- All the Mods 10 4.11 brought a bigger jump, from 1.2.5-1.21.1 to 1.4.5-1.21.1.[25]
- All the Mods 10 4.12 updated it from 1.4.5-1.21.1 to 1.4.6-1.21.1.[26]
- All the Mods 10 4.13 updated it from 1.4.6-1.21.1 to 1.5.3-1.21.1.[27]
After the 4.13 update to 1.5.3-1.21.1, the mod you get in 4.14 is 1.6.2-1.21.1, so it has moved forward again since then.[3][27]
Unverified The available changelogs only list version numbers. They don't say what changed in each AdvancedAE update, such as new blocks, recipe changes or fixes. They also don't show which pack release moved the mod to its current version. Check the mod's own release notes if you want the details.
