What is AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 that focuses on convenience and quality of life when you're handling an ME system. Instead of adding a whole new tech tree, it takes the AE2 blocks you already use and gives them sharper tools: pattern providers that know which face to push to, crafting hardware that scales into the absurd, and machines that keep your stock topped up without babysitting. This pack ships version 0.5.4 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2]
It's aimed squarely at players who already have an AE2 network running and are starting to feel its limits, especially around late-game autocrafting and multi-input machines. The mod's own description calls out expanding the possibilities of end-game systems, so treat it as the layer you add on top of AE2 rather than a replacement for learning AE2 first.[1][3]
What you get
- Advanced Pattern Providers, which let you choose the exact face each ingredient in a processing pattern gets pushed to, so side-sensitive machines can be automated with one block and no pipes. You encode that face data with the Advanced Pattern Encoder.[1][4][5]
- Upgrade items so you can convert existing providers in place: one upgrade keeps the slot count you already had, and a capacity upgrade takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[6]
- The Quantum Computer, a crafting unit multiblock that runs an unlimited number of crafting tasks as long as it has crafting storage, with every task sharing all the co-processors in the structure, all on a single channel.[1][7]
- The Quantum Crafter, a fast auto-crafter that reads your ME inventory directly, handles recursive crafts, and can be told to keep ingredients stocked or cap how much of the output it makes.[1][8]
- The Reaction Chamber, a power-hungry processing machine used to make items needed for AdvancedAE progression, plus a Quantum Armor set, a Stock Export Bus and an ME Throughput Monitor for watching your resource rates.[1]
Where it fits
Progression inside the mod runs through the Reaction Chamber, which produces the materials the rest of the AdvancedAE lineup needs, so that machine is your practical entry point after your AE2 network is stable. From there the Quantum Computer and Quantum Crafter are the end-game payoff: a standalone Quantum Computer Core already gives 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and building it out into a multiblock up to 5x5x5 scales that enormously.[1][7]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
5 parts
Advanced AE is an AE2 addon aimed at quality of life and end-game automation. The two headline features are pattern providers that can push each ingredient to a specific face of a machine, and the Quantum Computer, a multiblock crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafting jobs as long as it has crafting storage left.[1][3]
Everything here sits on top of a working ME system, so get AE2 running first. After that, the order below takes you from your first directional provider all the way to the quantum tier.[3][5]
Start with an Advanced Pattern Provider
Your first craft should be an Advanced Pattern Provider. It behaves like a normal pattern provider, but you can configure which face of the target machine each individual item in a pattern gets pushed to, which means machines with side-specific inputs can be automated with one block and no pipes.[5]

If you have already moved on to ExtendedAE's larger providers, there is a big version with the same directional feature: the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider.[5][9]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaeadvpatpro
Already have providers full of patterns? The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts a normal or extended provider into the advanced version in place, keeping the same number of slots, so you never have to pull patterns out and re-insert them.[6][10]

There is also a Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade, which takes a regular pattern provider straight to an advanced one with 36 pattern slots. Note that in this pack it is made in ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler rather than on a crafting grid.[6][9]

Then the Advanced Pattern Encoder
A directional provider is useless without directional patterns, so the Advanced Pattern Encoder is your next craft. Right-click it in hand to open the GUI, drop an encoded processing pattern into the left slot, and every ingredient is listed with a row of face buttons. Leave a row on the any button to use whatever face the provider touches, or pick a specific face to force it.[4][10]

Stock Export Bus, optional but handy
The ME Stock Export Bus is a cheap early win. Drag an item into the filter slot and middle-click to set an amount, and it keeps exactly that many in the target inventory instead of endlessly stuffing it. It does not pull items back out, so it won't fix an inventory that is already over the limit.[10][11]

Reaction Chamber and Shattered Singularies
The Reaction Chamber is the gateway to everything else. It uses a catalyst fluid and a lot of power to force chemical reactions, and it is what produces the Shattered Singularity that the quantum blocks need.[10][12]

Power it properly before you start. A full block pattern provider connects the chamber straight to your AE2 grid and lets it pull stored energy, so back that grid up with a few energy cells; if the grid's stored power is below the per-tick requirement, the chamber simply makes no progress. External power also works, but the chamber still needs a grid connection, at minimum a directly connected cable.[12]
Your first quantum blocks
The Quantum Crafting Unit is the base component of every quantum block, and the Quantum Computer Accelerator is the first thing you build from it.[9]

From here you can go two ways. The Quantum Crafter is the quicker payoff: it is a fast auto-crafter that reads your ME system directly, takes a single channel, handles recursive and fluid-substitution recipes, and lets you set stock limits per ingredient and a cap on the output so you don't over-craft.[8]

The other path is the Quantum Computer Core, which needs a 256M Quantum Computer Storage first. On its own the core is already a formed quantum computer with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads; used standalone, feed it power through the Up or Down sides where the connectors are.[7][9]

How does AdvancedAE work?
6 parts
Advanced AE is an AE2 addon built around two ideas: making pattern providers smart enough to feed machines without pipes, and giving you an end-game crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of jobs at once. Everything here plugs straight into your existing ME network.[1][3]
Directional pattern providers
The ME Advanced Pattern Provider is a new type of pattern provider that upgrades a standard or Extended Pattern Provider with the ability to configure which face of the target machine each individual item in a pattern is pushed to. That means you can automate machines that demand specific sides for specific inputs with a single block and no pipes at all.[1][5]
To use that feature you need an advanced pattern, which you make by inserting an encoded processing pattern into the Advanced Pattern Encoder and taking out the advanced version. Right-click the encoder in hand to open its GUI.[4][5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:advpartenc
Drop an encoded processing pattern into the left slot and the encoder decodes it, listing every raw ingredient. Each row has a set of buttons for all possible block faces. Leaving a row on the "A" button sends that ingredient to whatever face is directly adjacent to the pattern provider, while picking a specific face forces insertion there.[4][10]
The provider comes in both block and cable-part forms, and in a small and an extended variant, and you can convert freely between block and part.[5][9]
Upgrading providers you already placed
- The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular AE Pattern Providers and on Extended Pattern Providers, turning them into the advanced version while keeping the same number of slots, so you don't lose the materials spent upgrading a regular provider to an extended one.[6][10]
- The Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade upgrades a Pattern Provider directly to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots, the maximum amount.[6][10]
The Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer is a special kind of crafting computer: it can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left, and every concurrent task shares all the co-processors in the multiblock. The whole thing consumes a single channel.[1][7]
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the system. It provides 256M of crafting storage and is the only block that can form a working quantum computer on its own, giving you all the benefits of a quantum computer in one block. Used standalone, power must be provided through the Up or Down sides, where the connectors are.[7]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcore
- 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage expand the core's crafting storage with 128M and 256M of capacity respectively, which directly raises how many concurrent tasks the computer can run.[7]
- The Quantum Computer Accelerator adds co-processors to the multiblock. In this pack each accelerator provides 12 co-processing threads, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] rather than the mod's usual value. Since all patterns share every co-processor, these are well worth stacking.[7][10][13]
- The Quantum Data Entangler lets storage blocks store data across several dimensions, multiplying the multiblock's total storage. This pack sets that multiplier to 6 with [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]], and allows 1 entangler per multiblock via [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]].[7][10][13]
- The Quantum Computer Multi-Threader does the same for accelerators, letting them run extra threads in separate dimensions. In this pack the co-processor multiplier is 6 from [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]], with 1 multi-threader allowed per multiblock via [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]].[7][10][13]
- Quantum Computer Structural Glass blocks are the framing that connects everything together, and are used for the outside layer of the multiblock.[7][10]
When you build the multiblock, the rules are simple: exactly one Quantum Core, at most one Data Entangler, at most one Multi-Threader, all blocks on the outside layer must be Quantum Computer Structure, and no empty spaces can be left inside. Gaps can be filled in for no additional benefit.[7]
Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is a configurable auto-crafter that reads the ME system's inventory directly. Place it in your network and connect it with a cable; it needs a single channel to operate. It handles fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts that take an input back as an output, such as smithing templates and non-consumed ingredients.[1][8]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcrafter
Encode the recipes you want run indefinitely as crafting patterns and slot them into the crafter. Each pattern has a square button to enable or disable it, and a cog button that opens the Pattern Configuration UI.[8]
In that UI you set how much of each ingredient to keep in the ME system at all times and a maximum amount of the end product, so you don't over-craft expensive items. The number fields accept mathematical expressions and need Enter to apply, with an indicator on the right confirming the value stuck. Setting the output limit to 0 removes the limit entirely and crafting continues until inputs run out.[8][10]
Outputs default to being pushed straight into the ME system. Left-clicking the cell button on the left toolbar switches to pushing into adjacent inventories instead, and a second button then lets you choose exactly which sides are enabled for auto-export.[8][10]
Upgrade cards unlock the rest of its potential: one type greatly accelerates crafting speed, up to 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and another adds redstone control.[8]
Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber accelerates chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a great deal of power, forcing reactions that occur naturally to happen inside the chamber, usually with more efficient results thanks to the controlled environment. It's how you make progression items for Advanced AE, including the Shattered Singularity used throughout quantum computing, and it offers efficient recipes for other mods too.[1][9][10][12]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:reactionchamber
Speeding the chamber up increases the power drawn per tick, so powering it properly matters. A full-block pattern provider connects it directly to the AE2 grid and lets it pull stored grid energy; if the grid's stored power is lower than the required power per tick, no progress is made and no power is consumed, so keep a few energy cells on the network.[12]
External power also works, but the chamber still needs a grid connection, so you need at least a directly connected cable, or a cable-part pattern provider to supply the grid connection without powering it.[12]
Stock Export Bus
The ME Stock Export Bus exports an exact amount of the filtered stacks and keeps track of the amount currently present in the target inventory, so it doesn't insert above that number. Open its GUI, drag the item into the filter slot and middle-click to set the amount to keep in stock. It accepts a crafting card so it can craft the items it needs.[1][10][11]

How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
5 parts
AdvancedAE is an end-game extension for your ME system: it upgrades pattern providers so they can push individual items to specific faces of a machine, and it adds multiblock quantum computers that can run an unlimited number of crafting jobs while they still have crafting storage left. In this pack there's no quest line pointing the way, so progression is driven purely by the recipes, and they stack up into four clear tiers.[3]
Tier 1: Directional pattern providers
Your first stop is the Advanced Pattern Provider. It behaves like a normal pattern provider but lets you configure which face of the target block each item in a pattern gets pushed to, which means single-block automation of machines with picky input sides and no pipes at all.[5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:smalladvpatpro
The directional data lives in the pattern itself, so you also need the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it to open its GUI, drop an encoded processing pattern in the left slot, and each ingredient gets a row of buttons for every block face. Leave a row on "A" to use whatever face the provider touches, or pick a specific face to force it.[4][5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:advpartenc
If you already have a larger provider, the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is the bigger version of the same block, and both come as cable parts as well: the block and part forms convert back and forth in the crafting grid.[5][9]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaeadvpatpro
Upgrade items save you from pulling patterns out of a working provider. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts a regular or extended pattern provider in place, keeping the slot count it already had, and the Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade takes a regular pattern provider straight to an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[6]

Tier 2: Reaction Chamber and singularities
Everything past the pattern providers runs on Shattered Singularity, and those are made in the mod's own machine, the Reaction Chamber. Build the chamber first: it gates the entire rest of the mod.[9][12]

Tier 3: Quantum Crafting Units and the Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafting Unit is the shared building block for every quantum component, so set up a steady supply before you start on the computer.[7][9]
A good side-step at this tier is the Quantum Crafter, a standalone auto-crafter that sits on your network on a single channel. You insert crafting patterns, set per-ingredient stock levels and an output cap for each one, and it keeps those items topped up forever; it also handles fluid substitution and recursive crafts. Speed cards push it to 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and redstone cards give you redstone control.[8]

Tier 4: The Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer Core is the end goal. On its own it already forms a working quantum computer with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, powered through its up or down faces where the connectors are. Its real advantage is that it can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left, and every pattern it runs shares all of the co-processors.[7]

From there you scale up by turning the core into a multiblock. Quantum Computer Accelerator blocks add 8 co-processors each, 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage add crafting storage and therefore more concurrent jobs, and Quantum Computer Structural Glass frames the whole thing and ties it together.[7]

The two multipliers are the last step. A Quantum Data Entangler lets every storage block in the multiblock store data across dimensions, multiplying their capacity by 4, and a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader does the same for accelerators, multiplying co-processing power by 4. You can only have one of each in a computer.[7]

- No empty spaces inside: fill gaps with structure blocks for no extra benefit.[7]
- Exactly one core, at most one data entangler and at most one multi-threader.[7]
- The entire outside layer must be structure blocks, and no structure blocks may sit on the inside.[7]
How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
5 parts
AdvancedAE is an addon for Applied Energistics, so nearly everything it adds plugs into parts from that mod. In this pack its recipes also pull in ExtendedAE and MEGA Cells, and one recipe added by the pack reaches into several other mods. Here is where those links are.[1][9]
Pattern providers: base AE and ExtendedAE
The Advanced Pattern Provider is crafted from the base ME Pattern Provider. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is the ExtendedAE route, crafted from the ME Extended Pattern Provider.[9]

You can also upgrade providers in place. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular Pattern Providers and on ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Providers, and keeps the slot count they already had. The Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade upgrades a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots.[6]
The capacity upgrade is an ExtendedAE crystal assembler recipe and uses the Concurrent Processor.[9]

Quantum computer parts
The quantum computer is where the other AE addons show up most. These are the cross-mod links in its recipes:[9]
- Quantum Crafting Unit starts from the base Crafting Unit and also needs the ExtendedAE Concurrent Processor.[9]
- Quantum Computer Accelerator and Quantum Computer Multi-Threader both use the ExtendedAE Concurrent Processor. The multi-threader is made with an ExtendedAE crystal assembler recipe.[9]
- 128M Quantum Computer Storage uses the MEGA Cells MEGA Bulk Storage Component.[9]
- Quantum Crafter uses the base 64k ME Storage Component.[9]
- Quantum Computer Structural Glass is made from Quartz Glass and Sky Stone.[9]

Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.6.0-beta guide
All of AdvancedAE's settings that this pack sets live in one file, config/advanced_ae-common.toml, and they all control the Quantum Computer multiblock. If you're planning a big crafting setup, these are the numbers to know.[14]
Values this pack sets
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] is 7 in this pack, and the allowed range is 5 to 12. This is the maximum dimensions of the multiblock.[14]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the data entanglers.[14]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the multi threaders.[14]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of Data Entanglers per multiblock.[14]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of multi threaders per multiblock.[14]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] is 12 (range 4 to 16).[14]
How this differs from the mod's description
The mod's project page describes the Quantum Computer multiblock as scaling up to 5x5x5, with the Quantum Data Entangler and Quantum Multi-Threader multiplying storage and co-processors by 4. This pack's config is different: the maximum size is set to 7 and both multiplication factors are set to 6. So a multiblock here can be bigger and gets a stronger boost from those two special blocks than the project page describes.[1][14]
For the standalone Quantum Core, the project page lists 256M storage and 8 co-processors. This pack's config doesn't show a change to those figures.[1][14]
Unverified The config file's comment for the accelerator threads option is a copy of the multi threader limit comment, so it's unclear exactly what that option controls. Its value of 12 is confirmed, but its effect in-game isn't.
