What is AdvancedAE?
3 parts
AdvancedAE is an Applied Energistics 2 addon all about convenience and making your ME System nicer to work with. It upgrades pattern providers so they can push items to specific sides of a machine, and it adds multiblock crafting computers that run as many crafts as they have storage for. On top of that you get a pile of quality-of-life extras. This pack ships version 1.4.6-1.21.1.[1][2][3]
What you get
- Advanced Pattern Providers let you choose which face each input of a processing pattern goes to. That means you can automate side-picky machines with a single block and no pipes, which is great news for Mekanism setups.[1][4]
- The Quantum Computer is a multiblock crafting computer. It runs unlimited crafting tasks while it has crafting storage left, and those tasks share all of its co-processors. It scales up to 5x5x5 and uses a single channel. Special blocks like the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader boost it even further.[1][5]
- The Quantum Crafter is a powerful auto crafter. It can perform a series of crafting operations every tick while pulling straight from your ME System's inventory.[1]
- The Quantum Armor set links to your ME System and takes upgrade cards for perks like flight, night vision, a magnet and auto feeding from ME Storage.[1][6]
- The mod also adds the Reaction Chamber for power-hungry but efficient material processing, a Stock Export Bus that keeps an exact amount of items in a target inventory, and an ME Throughput Monitor for tracking items, fluids and energy.[1]
Who it's for
If you already run an AE2 network and want cleaner automation or a beefier end-game crafting setup, this mod is for you.[2]
Where it fits in this pack
The "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest quest in the Basic Armor chapter asks you for all four pieces: Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots. The quest describes the set as having default stats similar to Netherite Armor, plus a MekaSuit-style energy shield.[7]
AdvancedAE is also part of the ATM Star path. In Chapter 3: The ATM Star, the "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest quest comes after the Applied Energistics quest and asks for a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. The quest text warns that the hammers and pliers on the crafting table won't cut it for Quantum Computer parts. You'll need a Crystal Assembler and a whole bunch of Singularities.[8]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
5 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 add-on, so start with a working ME network and build on it. The mod gives you two big upgrades: pattern providers that push items into specific sides of a machine, and a multiblock crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafts as long as it has crafting storage left.[1][2]
Step 1: Pattern encoder and provider
Make these two first, because they cut down on pipes. The Advanced Pattern Encoder lets you choose which face of the target machine each ingredient is sent to. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is the block that delivers the items. The pack changed both recipes, so go by the ones below.[1][4][9][10]

- Encode a processing pattern as usual.[9]
- Right-click with the Advanced Pattern Encoder, put the pattern in the left slot, and pick a face for each ingredient. Leaving a row on the "A" button sends it to whatever face touches the provider.[9]
- Take the advanced pattern out and insert it into the Advanced Pattern Provider.[4]
Already have regular or Extended providers? The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts them and keeps the same number of slots, so you don't lose the materials from earlier upgrades.[11]
Step 2: A quality-of-life bus
The ME Import Export Bus is a mixture of an import bus and an export bus. The filter sets what gets exported, and anything not on the filter is a valid stack to import.[12]

Step 3: Your first Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the Quantum Computer. By itself it forms a working computer with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads. As a standalone block, it needs power through its Up or Down sides.[5]
The core recipe needs a Quantum Crafting Unit and a Shattered Singularity. The singularity is produced by a chemical reaction in the Reaction Chamber, so build that machine first. The pack changed the Quantum Crafting Unit recipe.[10][13]

Step 4: Grow the computer
Once the core works, expand it into a multiblock. Each Quantum Computer Accelerator adds 8 co-processors, and every running craft shares them. The pack changed the accelerator recipe. Use Quantum Computer Structural Glass for the outside layer.[5][10][13]

The multiblock size limit and the multiplier values are tweakable in server configs, and you can check the limits for your instance on the item tooltips.[5][13]
Later goals
- The Quantum Computer Multi-Threader has its own quest, "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest, in the chapter "Chapter 3: The ATM Star", after the "Applied Energistics" quest. The pack changed its recipe so it is made in the Crystal Assembler.[8][10]
- The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter that needs a single channel. It keeps chosen recipes running and lets you set stock levels and output limits.[15]
- The Quantum Armor can be linked to your ME system and has defenses comparable to Netherite by default. Its quest is "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest in the "Basic Armor" chapter. The pack changed each piece's recipe, shown below for the helmet.[6][7][10]

How does AdvancedAE work?
8 parts
AdvancedAE adds machines that plug into your ME network. This page covers how they behave: directional pattern providers, the Quantum Computer multiblock, the Quantum Crafter, the Reaction Chamber and the smaller buses and monitors. Where this pack changes a value or recipe, I say so.[1][2]
Directional pattern providers
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is an upgraded pattern provider. It lets you choose which face of the target machine each individual ingredient in a pattern is pushed into. That means machines that need specific inputs on specific sides can be automated with one block and no pipes.[1][4]
The side information is stored in the pattern itself. You encode a normal processing pattern, then put it in the Advanced Pattern Encoder by right-clicking with it in hand to open its GUI. Insert the encoded pattern in the left slot and every raw ingredient shows up in a list. Each row has buttons for every block face that ingredient can be sent to. Leaving it on the "A" button sends it to whatever face is directly connected to the provider.[9][13]

You don't have to rebuild your providers. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular AE Pattern Providers and ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Providers, and keeps the same number of pattern slots. The Capacity Upgrade turns a regular provider straight into an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[11][13]
If you craft the provider instead, this pack uses its own version of the recipe below. The block and the cable-part form convert into each other with simple shapeless recipes.[10]

The Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer is a special crafting computer. It can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left, and all of those jobs share every co-processor in the multiblock. The whole thing uses a single channel.[1][5]
The Quantum Computer Core works on its own. It gives 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and it is the only block that can form a quantum computer by itself. Used alone, it needs power through its Up or Down sides, where the connectors are. Build a multiblock around it for a much stronger computer.[1][5]
- 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage add 128M and 256M of crafting storage, which raises how many tasks can run at once.[5]
- Quantum Computer Accelerator adds co-processor threads to the multiblock. Since every pattern shares them, it is worth building plenty.[5][13]
- Quantum Data Entangler multiplies the storage of all storage blocks in the multiblock.[5][13]
- Quantum Computer Multi-Threader multiplies the co-processing power of the accelerators.[5][13]
- Quantum Computer Structural Glass is the framing block. It makes up the outside layer and connects everything together.[5][13]
Multiblock rules
- The maximum external size is 7x7x7 in this pack.[5][16]
- No empty spaces are allowed inside. Gaps can be filled, but the filler gives no extra benefit.[5]
- Every block on the outside layer must be a Quantum Structure block.[5][13]
- You can have at most one Data Entangler and at most one Quantum Multi-Threader per multiblock.[5]
What this pack changes
The guide text quotes 8 threads per accelerator and a 4x multiplier for both special blocks. This pack's config uses different numbers, so plan around these.[5][16]
- Threads per Quantum Accelerator: 12, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] (allowed range 4 to 16).[16]
- Multi-Threader multiplication: 6, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]]. The maximum count is 1, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]].[16]
- Data Entangler multiplication: 6, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]]. The maximum count is 1, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]].[16]
- Maximum multiblock size: 7, set by [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] (allowed range 5 to 12).[16]
Item tooltips show the limits for your instance, so use them if you ever doubt a number.[5]
The pack also changed the recipes for the Quantum Crafting Unit and the Quantum Computer Accelerator. The Shattered Singularity is produced by a chemical reaction in the Reaction Chamber.[10][13]

Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter that works directly from your ME system's inventory. It needs one channel and a cable connection. It can also do fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts, where an input is also an output.[15]
You encode the recipes you want run indefinitely as crafting patterns and insert them into the crafter. Each pattern has a square button to enable or disable it, and a cog button that opens the pattern configuration. There you set how much of each ingredient to keep inside the ME system at all times, and a maximum amount of the end product so you don't over-craft expensive items. Setting the output limit to 0 removes the limit, and crafting continues until inputs run out. The number fields accept mathematical expressions, and you press enter to apply a value.[13][15]
By default, outputs are pushed from the output slots into the ME system. Left-click the cell button on the left toolbar to push them into adjacent inventories instead. A second button then lets you choose which sides are enabled for auto-export. Upgrade cards unlock its full speed, up to 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and redstone control.[13][15]
Reaction Chamber power
The Reaction Chamber speeds up chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a lot of power. Acceleration Cards raise the power needed per tick. If you draw power straight from the ME system, the chamber tries to pull a full tick of power at once. When that fails you get flickering as the chamber toggles on and off. The fix is to give your network energy buffers, or to use fewer acceleration cards.[14]
- Full block pattern provider: it connects the chamber directly to the AE2 grid so power can be drawn when needed. If stored grid power is lower than the power required per tick, progress slows down and a warning is shown.[14]
- External power: any source that can push energy can fill the chamber's buffers. A warning appears on its screen if power arrives too slowly.[14]
- Induction Cards (requires Applied Flux): they go in cable-part or directional pattern providers and export power from Energy Cells. They ramp up slowly, so crafting speed starts low.[14]
Buses and monitors
The ME Import Export Bus combines an import bus and an export bus. The filter sets what gets exported, and anything not on the filter is a valid stack to import.[12]

| Empty slot | Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: advanced_ae:import_export_bus
The ME Stock Export Bus exports an exact amount of the filtered stacks. Drag an item into the filter slot and middle-click to set the amount. It tracks what is already in the target inventory and won't insert above that number. It does not pull extra items or fluids back out if the inventory goes over the amount.[13][17]
The ME Throughput Monitor is a monitor with a throughput meter for a single item or fluid type, and it does not need a channel. Right-click with an item, or double-right-click with a fluid container, to set it. An empty-hand right-click clears it, and shift-right-click with an empty hand locks it. Right-click it with a Throughput Monitor Configurator to cycle between items per tick, per second and per minute. Readings take a while to stabilize after a change.[18]
Quantum armor basics
Each armor piece is linked to your system individually. Perks that use the network, such as the Auto Stock Card, only work while you are within range of the connected access point. You install and configure upgrade cards by pressing the configuration hotkey (N by default) while wearing the pieces.[6][13]
The Quantum Upgrade Base Card does nothing special on its own, but it is needed for every upgrade card. The Flight Drift Card only works when the Flight Card is installed.[6][13]

How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
3 parts
The sources don't give Advanced AE formal tier names, so this guide splits it into stages based on what unlocks what: pattern tools, the Quantum Computer, and the Quantum Armor. The mod focuses on improving how you handle your ME system and on expanding end-game systems.[2]
Advanced pattern tools
The Advanced Pattern Provider is the advanced version of the regular ME Pattern Provider. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is the advanced version of the ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Provider. The pack changed both recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[4][10]

The Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer is a multiblock crafting computer. It can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has enough crafting storage. The build chain starts with the Quantum Crafting Unit, which the pack changed. From there you make the Quantum Computer Accelerator, which the pack also changed.[5][10]

How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
5 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so almost everything it adds plugs straight into your ME system. In this pack, the recipes below also pull in items from other mods, so you can see where your progression crosses over.[1][10]
ExtendedAE
ExtendedAE is the closest partner. The pack changed the recipes for the Quantum Crafting Unit and the Quantum Computer Accelerator so they use the Concurrent Processor. The Quantum Computer Multi-Threader needs it too, and so does the Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade.[10]
The Multi-Threader and the Capacity Upgrade are both made in the Crystal Assembler recipe type from ExtendedAE. The Multi-Threader quest says this directly: the crafting table won't cut it for quantum computers, you'll need a Crystal Assembler.[8][10]

This one is made in a Crystal Assembler, and the pack changed the recipe.
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is the advanced form of the ME Extended Pattern Provider, and the pack changed its recipe too (shown below). If you already have a provider placed, the Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular AE2 Pattern Providers and on ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Providers, and keeps the same number of slots.[4][10][11]

Allthemodium
The pack changed all four quantum armor recipes so each piece builds on the matching Unobtainium armor piece from Allthemodium, like the Quantum Boots on the Unobtainium Boots (recipe below). The pack also changed the Strength Card recipe, which builds on the Vibranium Sword (recipe after the boots).[10]

The quest "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest describes the armor as having default stats similar to Netherite, and says it can use energy as a shield like the MekaSuit. It also opens by comparing it to what Mekanism and Modern Industrialization offer.[7]
Quantum processors
The pack added two extra routes to the Quantum Processor, both shown below. One makes the Printed Quantum Circuit in an inscriber with a pack-defined universal press. The other is a Modern Industrialization assembler recipe that runs on Molten Redstone.[10]

Recipe id: modern_industrialization:kjs/18a3s65vcewz8n9952rhjqy7e
Ender Drives
The pack changed the Ender Drives recipes so they depend on AdvancedAE. The Ender Item Storage Cells from 1k Ender Item Storage Cell to 256k Ender Item Storage Cell use the Quantum Alloy Plate and the Quantum Processor. The Ender Storage Components use the Shattered Singularity and either the Quantum Processor or the Quantum Storage Component.[10]
Magnet Card and Nexium Emitter
The pack added a recipe for the AdvancedAE Magnet Card that is built from the Magnet Card, a separate item from another mod.[10]

Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/advanced_ae_magnet_card
The biggest crossover is the Nexium Emitter, which the pack added. It needs the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader plus parts from Create, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Modern Industrialization, Powah and the Infinity Range Booster. The Multi-Threader quest sits in the ATM Star chapter, after the Applied Energistics quest: "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest.[8][10]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AdvancedAE?
3 parts
AdvancedAE appears in the pack's quest book in the Basic Armor chapter and in Chapter 3: The ATM Star. Neither is a long questline. In each chapter you hand in AdvancedAE items for a quest.[7][8]
Basic Armor
The quest "Quantum Armor (AE2)" quest sits in the Basic Armor chapter. Its tasks are to submit the whole armor set: Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots.[7]
The quest text pitches the armor as the Applied Energistics answer to the Mekanism and Modern Industrialization suits. It says the default stats are similar to Netherite armor, and like the MekaSuit it can use Energy as a shield.[7]
The quest also mentions installable upgrades, with Flight, Night Vision and the ability to recharge as examples. The best part, it says, is that you can link the armor to your storage system. Then you can take Energy and any item out of it wherever you are.[7]
Chapter 3: The ATM Star
The quest "Quantum Computer Multi-Threader" quest is in Chapter 3: The ATM Star, and its task is to submit the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. In the quest book it comes after Applied Energistics, so get that step done first.[8]
The quest text says the Hammers and Pliers on the Crafting Table won't be able to craft what you need for Quantum computers. You'll need a Crystal Assembler instead, and the quest warns that it takes a whole bunch of Singularities.[8]
Suggested order
- Finish the Applied Energistics step in Chapter 3: The ATM Star, which the Multi-Threader quest comes after.[8]
- Build the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader for its quest, and start collecting Singularities early.[8]
- Hand in the Quantum Armor pieces for the Basic Armor quest once you have the Energy and the pieces ready.[7]
Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
The AdvancedAE config options worth knowing about in All the Mods 10 8.1 all sit in the quantum computer section of the common config file. They control how big and how powerful your Quantum Computer multiblock can get, so check them before you plan a build.[19]
Quick refresher: the Quantum Computer is a special crafting unit that can run an unlimited number of crafting tasks as long as it has enough crafting storage. All of those tasks share every co-processor in the multiblock. On its own, the Quantum Core works as a crafting unit with 256M storage and 8 co-processors, and building a multiblock around it extends that a lot.[1]
Multiblock size
The mod's project page says the multiblock can scale up to 5x5x5. In this pack, [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] sets the maximum dimensions of the multiblock to 7, and the option accepts values from 5 to 12. That gives you more room than the project page describes.[1][19]
Data Entanglers and Multi-Threaders
These two special blocks are where the real power comes from. The Quantum Data Entangler multiplies the storage in the multiblock, and the Quantum Multi-Threader multiplies its co-processors. The project page gives a factor of 4 for each, but this pack raises both multipliers to 6.[1][19]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] is set to 6, with an allowed range of 2 to 8.[19]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] is set to 6, with an allowed range of 2 to 8.[19]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is set to 1, so you get one Data Entangler per multiblock. The allowed range is 1 to 2.[19]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is set to 1, so you get one Multi-Threader per multiblock. The allowed range is 1 to 2.[19]
Accelerator threads
The pack sets [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] to 12, and the option accepts values from 4 to 16. Its description in the config file is the same as the one for the maximum number of Multi-Threaders, so the file doesn't explain clearly what this value does in game.[19]
Unverified Exactly how the accelerator threads value affects the Quantum Computer, and what the mod's own default values are for all of these options, can't be confirmed from the available sources.
What changed in AdvancedAE between versions?
1 part
AdvancedAE has been in All the Mods 10 for a long time: it was first included in version 2.2 or earlier, and in 4.12 you're running AdvancedAE 1.4.6-1.21.1.[3]
The pack changelogs only record which AdvancedAE version each release shipped, not what changed inside the mod. So you can see when it was updated, but not what each update did.[20][21][22][23][24]
Updates by pack release
- All the Mods 10 2.29: updated from 1.2.1-1.21.1 to 1.2.2-1.21.1.[24]
- All the Mods 10 2.32: updated from 1.2.2-1.21.1 to 1.2.3-1.21.1.[23]
- All the Mods 10 2.37: updated from 1.2.3-1.21.1 to 1.2.5-1.21.1.[22]
- All the Mods 10 4.11: a bigger jump, from 1.2.5-1.21.1 straight to 1.4.5-1.21.1.[21]
- All the Mods 10 4.12: updated from 1.4.5-1.21.1 to 1.4.6-1.21.1, the version in the current pack.[3][20]
Unverified The specific features, fixes and recipe changes in each AdvancedAE version aren't covered here, because no mod changelogs for these versions were available.
