What is AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE is an Applied Energistics 2 addon built around convenience and quality of life for your ME system. Instead of adding a new storage network from scratch, it bolts extra utilities onto the one you already run, with a strong focus on late-game automation and crafting throughput.[1][2]
This pack ships AdvancedAE 0.4.5 for Minecraft 1.21.1, and the mod has been part of the pack since at least the 0.46 release.[3]
What you get
- The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, which lets you pick exactly which face of a machine each ingredient in a pattern is pushed to, so side-sensitive machines can be automated with one block and no pipes. You encode that face data with the Advanced Pattern Encoder.[1][4][5]
- The Quantum Computer, a crafting computer multiblock that runs an unlimited number of crafting jobs as long as crafting storage holds out, with every job sharing all the co-processors in the structure.[1][6]
- The Quantum Crafter, an autocrafter that performs crafting operations every tick straight out of your ME inventory, including recursive crafts and crafts with non-consumed ingredients.[1]
- The Quantum Armor Set, which links to your ME system for flight without inertia, night vision, a magnet, auto feeding from ME storage and damage immunities, on top of being strong defensively.[1]
- The Reaction Chamber, a power-hungry machine that forces chemical reactions with a catalyst fluid and gives more efficient processing recipes, including ones for other mods.[1][7]
- Network conveniences like the Stock Export Bus, which keeps an exact amount stocked in a target inventory and accepts a crafting card, and the ME Throughput Monitor for watching item, fluid and FE Cell energy rates.[1]
Where it fits
Treat AdvancedAE as an after-AE2 mod. You need a working ME system with pattern providers and processing patterns before any of it matters, and the Reaction Chamber is the gateway machine: its outputs feed the rest of the AdvancedAE progression while also giving you efficient recipes for materials from other mods.[1][4][5][7]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
5 parts
Advanced AE is an AE2 addon focused on quality of life for your ME system. The two things you'll care about first are advanced pattern providers, which can push each ingredient of a pattern to a specific face of the target machine, and the Quantum Computer, a crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has crafting storage left.[1][2]
Step 1: the Advanced Pattern Encoder
Start here. The encoder is the device that teaches a pattern where to send its items. Right-click with it in hand to open the GUI, drop an encoded processing pattern into the left slot, and every raw ingredient shows up in a list with a row of buttons for each block face. Leave a row on the "A" button to send that ingredient to whatever face is directly connected to the provider, or pick a specific face to force it.[4][9]

Craft this before any provider: the providers are useless without advanced patterns.
Step 2: an Advanced Pattern Provider
Advanced patterns are only decoded properly by an advanced provider; in any other pattern provider they just behave like a normal pattern. There are two sizes: one built from an AE2 ME Pattern Provider, and a larger one built from ExtendedAE's ME Extended Pattern Provider.[4][5][10]

Step 3: the Reaction Chamber
Once providers are sorted, the Reaction Chamber is your gateway to the rest of the mod. It uses a catalyst fluid and a great deal of power to force chemical reactions that would happen naturally, usually with more efficient results thanks to the controlled environment.[7]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:reactionchamber
The reason you need it is the Shattered Singulary, a reaction-chamber-only product that feeds into nearly every quantum computing component.[9][10]
Processed in the Reaction Chamber.
Step 4: your first Quantum Computer
The Quantum Crafting Unit is the base component for everything quantum, so make a stack of them alongside your singularities.[10]
From there you work up to the Quantum Computer Core, which needs an accelerator and a 256M storage block of its own. The core is the heart of the system and is the only block that can form a working quantum computer on its own, giving you 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads. Running it standalone, feed power through the Up or Down sides where the connectors are.[6][9][10]

Step 5: scale it into a multiblock
A standalone core is fine to start, but the real payoff is the multiblock, which scales up to 5x5x5 and still only consumes a single channel. Quantum Computer Structure blocks form the frame, and you'll want plenty of them.[1][6]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumstructure
- The maximum size is 5x5x5, and no empty spaces can be left inside, fill gaps with structure blocks for no additional benefit.[6]
- Exactly one Quantum Computer Core, at most one Quantum Data Entangler and at most one Quantum Computer Multi-Threader per multiblock.[6]
- Every block on the outside layer must be a Quantum Computer Structure, and no structure blocks are allowed on the inside.[6]
- All crafting patterns running on the quantum computer share every co-processor in the multiblock, so it pays to pack in a lot of accelerators.[1][6]
Unverified Power requirements and throughput figures for the Reaction Chamber and the Quantum Computer in this pack aren't covered by the available sources. Check the machine GUIs in-game.
How does AdvancedAE work?
5 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon built around two big ideas: making pattern providers smart enough to talk to fussy machines, and giving you a crafting computer that never runs out of parallel crafting jobs. Everything else it adds hangs off those two systems.[1][2]
Directional pattern providers
A normal pattern provider just shoves ingredients at whatever inventory is next to it. The ME Advanced Pattern Provider upgrades a standard or Extended Pattern Provider with the ability to pick which face of the target machine each individual item in a pattern gets pushed to. That means machines with side-specific inputs can be automated with a single block and no pipes at all.[1][5]
The routing information lives in the pattern, not the provider, so you need the Advanced Pattern Encoder to write it. Right-click with it in hand to open its GUI, drop an encoded processing pattern into the left slot, and it decodes the pattern and lists every raw ingredient.[4]
- Each ingredient row has a button for every possible block face, so you can send that one input to the exact side the machine wants.[4]
- Leaving a row on the "A" button targets whatever face is directly connected to the pattern provider, which is the normal AE2 behaviour.[4][9]
- The individual face buttons target the UP, DOWN, NORTH, SOUTH, EAST or WEST face of the machine.[9]

There are two sizes of advanced provider: the Advanced Pattern Provider based on the regular ME Pattern Provider, and the Advanced Extended Pattern Provider based on ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Provider. Both have a cable part form (Advanced Pattern Provider and Advanced Extended Pattern Provider) and you can convert freely between block and part on the crafting grid.[5][10]
Upgrading providers in place
You don't have to tear out a working provider and re-encode everything. AdvancedAE ships upgrade items that convert providers where they stand, keeping your patterns and upgrades.[8]
- Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular AE2 Pattern Providers and ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Providers, turning them into the advanced version with the same number of slots, so the materials you spent going from regular to extended aren't wasted.[8][9]
- Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with the maximum 36 pattern slots.[8][9]
The Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber accelerates chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a large amount of power. Reactions that would happen naturally are forced to occur inside the controlled environment of the chamber, usually with more efficient results, and it's the gateway machine for progressing through AdvancedAE as well as offering efficient recipes for other mods.[1][7]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:reactionchamber
Its headline output is the Shattered Singularity, produced by chemical reaction in the chamber and used all over quantum computing.[9]
A Reaction Chamber recipe, not a crafting table one.
The Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer is a special kind of crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafting requests, as long as it still has crafting storage left. On top of that, every concurrent task shares all of the co-processors in the multiblock, and the whole thing only consumes a single channel.[1][6]
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the system. On its own it provides 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and it's the only block that can form a working quantum computer by itself. Used standalone, power has to be provided through the Up or Down sides where the connectors are.[6][9]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcore
Building it out into a multiblock is where it gets silly. Each block type does one job:[6]
- 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage expand crafting storage by 128M and 256M respectively, which effectively raises how many concurrent tasks the computer can run.[6]
- Quantum Computer Accelerator adds co-processors. The in-game guide describes 8 threads per block, but this pack sets [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] to 12, so each accelerator is worth 12 threads here. Since every pattern in the computer shares all co-processors, stacking these pays off.[6][9][11]
- Quantum Data Entangler lets every storage block in the multiblock store data across extra dimensions, multiplying their storage. The guide describes a 4x multiplier, but this pack sets [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] to 6.[6][11]
- Quantum Computer Multi-Threader does the same trick for accelerators, running extra threads in separate dimensions. Again the guide says 4x, while this pack sets [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] to 6.[6][11]
- Quantum Computer Structural Glass is the framing that ties everything together and fills in gaps with no additional benefit.[6]
The multiblock has a few rules you have to respect or it won't form. The in-game guide describes a maximum of 5x5x5, but this pack raises [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] to 7, so you can build bigger here.[6][11]
- No empty spaces inside the multiblock; fill any gaps with Quantum Computer Structural Glass.[6]
- Exactly one Quantum Computer Core.[6]
- At most one Quantum Data Entangler, and this pack leaves [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] at 1.[6][11]
- At most one Quantum Computer Multi-Threader, with [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] also set to 1 in this pack.[6][11]
Unverified The in-game guide also lists rules about which blocks must make up the outer layer and which blocks aren't allowed on the inside, but the exact wording of those two rules isn't readable in the sources available here. Build a test structure and watch whether it forms before committing a huge amount of materials.
Every quantum block is built up from the Quantum Crafting Unit, so that's the part you'll want a bulk autocraft for first.[10]
Other systems
AdvancedAE bundles several more tools aimed at automation and quality of life. The Quantum Crafter is an autocrafter that performs a series of crafting operations every tick while reading the ME system's inventory directly, handles recursive crafting such as smithing templates and recipes with a non-consumed ingredient, and can be told to keep stacks of ingredients or cap the end product to keep a set amount in stock.[1]
- The Stock Export Bus reads the target inventory and keeps an exact amount in it at all times, as long as the ME system can supply it; with a crafting card installed it will craft what's missing.[1]
- The ME Throughput Monitor tracks how fast items, fluids or energy in FE Cells are moving. Right-click it twice with a container to set it to a fluid or energy, and right-click with the Throughput Monitor Configurator to cycle between per tick, per second and per minute.[1]
- The Quantum Armor Set connects to your ME system for things like flight with no inertia, night vision, a magnet effect, auto feeding straight from ME storage and immunity to various damage sources.[1]
How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
4 parts
AdvancedAE sits on top of your existing ME system and pushes it in two directions: smarter pattern providers that make automation cleaner, and a multiblock quantum computer for end-game crafting. That also happens to be the natural progression order, since the provider side is cheap AE2-tier gear while the quantum side is a whole extra production chain.[2]
Tier 1: Advanced pattern providers
Your first upgrade is the Advanced Pattern Provider. It works like a normal pattern provider, but it can choose which face of the target machine each individual item in a pattern gets pushed to, so you can automate side-sensitive machines with one block and no pipes.[5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:smalladvpatpro
On its own the provider still behaves normally. To actually use the directional feature you need advanced patterns, which you get by putting an encoded processing pattern into the Advanced Pattern Encoder and picking the target face for each ingredient. Anything left on the "A" button goes to whichever face is directly connected, and if a single item can't be inserted into its chosen face, the provider falls back to standard behaviour for that push.[4][5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:advpartenc
If you already have providers full of patterns, don't rebuild them. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts a regular AE2 provider or an ExtendedAE extended provider in place, keeping the slot count it already had, and the Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade takes a regular provider straight to an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[8]

Tier 2: The Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber is the gateway to everything after this. It accelerates chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a lot of power, forcing reactions that would happen naturally to run in a controlled, more efficient environment.[7]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:reactionchamber
What you want it for is the Shattered Singularity, which is made in the chamber and is required by every single quantum computer component. Build the chamber, get singularity production going, and then treat that as your bottleneck for the rest of the mod.[10]
Processed in the Reaction Chamber.
Tier 3: The Quantum Computer
The quantum computer is a crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it still has crafting storage available. Everything in it is built up from the Quantum Crafting Unit, so start there and scale that recipe first.[6][10]
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the system. By itself it has 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and it's the only block that can form a working quantum computer on its own. If you run it standalone, feed power through the top or bottom side, where the connectors are.[6]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcore
To grow past that, add storage and accelerators. The 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage add 128M and 256M of crafting storage, which raises how many tasks run concurrently, and the 256M version is crafted by upgrading the 128M one. Each Quantum Computer Accelerator adds 8 co-processors, and since every pattern running in the computer shares all co-processors, these are worth spamming.[6][10]

The last tier is the two multipliers. A Quantum Data Entangler lets every storage block in the multiblock store data across dimensions, multiplying their storage by 4, and a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader does the same for accelerators, multiplying co-processing power by 4. Both are assembled in ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler and you can only place one of each per computer.[6][10]

- Maximum size is 5x5x5.[6]
- No empty spaces inside the multiblock; you can fill gaps with structure blocks for no extra benefit.[6]
- Exactly one quantum core.[6]
- At most one data entangler and at most one multi-threader.[6]
- Every block on the outside layer must be a structure block, and no block on the inside may be one.[6]
How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
4 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so most of its connections run through your ME system. In this pack, the in-pack recipes tie it to AE2, ExtendedAE and MEGA Cells, and two pack-added recipes use its parts as ingredients for allthetweaks items. No quests in this pack involve the mod, so everything below comes from recipes.[1][10]
ExtendedAE and pattern providers
Both Advanced providers are normal crafting recipes, and the recipes below show the exact in-pack ingredients. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is the ExtendedAE route (see the ME Extended Pattern Provider), while the smaller Advanced Pattern Provider is the plain AE2 route (see the ME Pattern Provider).[10]

You won't lose the materials you spent upgrading to an extended provider.[8]

The Quantum Computer leans heavily on AE2 and ExtendedAE parts. The Quantum Crafting Unit is a shapeless craft, and it is where the AE2 Crafting Unit and ExtendedAE's Concurrent Processor come in.[10]
The Quantum Computer Accelerator is a normal crafting recipe, and the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader is made in the Crystal Assembler. The Quantum Computer Structural Glass is a normal crafting recipe too.[10]

Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.6.0-beta guide
All of AdvancedAE's settings that this pack sets live in one file, config/advanced_ae-common.toml, and they all control the Quantum Computer multiblock. If you're planning a big crafting setup, these are the numbers to know.[12]
Values this pack sets
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] is 7 in this pack, and the allowed range is 5 to 12. This is the maximum dimensions of the multiblock.[12]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the data entanglers.[12]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the multi threaders.[12]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of Data Entanglers per multiblock.[12]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of multi threaders per multiblock.[12]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] is 12 (range 4 to 16).[12]
How this differs from the mod's description
The mod's project page describes the Quantum Computer multiblock as scaling up to 5x5x5, with the Quantum Data Entangler and Quantum Multi-Threader multiplying storage and co-processors by 4. This pack's config is different: the maximum size is set to 7 and both multiplication factors are set to 6. So a multiblock here can be bigger and gets a stronger boost from those two special blocks than the project page describes.[1][12]
For the standalone Quantum Core, the project page lists 256M storage and 8 co-processors. This pack's config doesn't show a change to those figures.[1][12]
Unverified The config file's comment for the accelerator threads option is a copy of the multi threader limit comment, so it's unclear exactly what that option controls. Its value of 12 is confirmed, but its effect in-game isn't.
