What is Extended AE?
2 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting workflows. It's for you once you already have an ME network running and want more capacity, more speed and less clutter. This pack ships Extended AE 1.21-2.2.35 for NeoForge.[1][2]
What you get
- Extended versions of AE2 devices, like the ME Extended Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots (4 times an ordinary Pattern Provider) and Import/Export Buses that work about 8x faster and support more upgrades.[3]
- The Assembler Matrix Frame multiblock, a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7 that runs many crafting jobs at once and saves channels.[4]
- The Circuit Slicer, which slices material blocks into processor prints and is up to nine times faster than an Inscriber.[5]
- The ME Canner, which fills or empties containers, and the ME Active Formation Plane, which places blocks or drops items straight from the network with no subnet.[3][6][7]
- Infinity Cells such as the Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell. The pack's Infinity Cells quest also accepts extra cells made by KubeJS, such as lava, dirt and sand.[1][3]
Where it fits in the pack
Everything starts with the Entro Crystal, the main crafting ingredient for most of the mod's items and machines. The quest "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest walks you through it: right-click a Fluix Block with an Entro Seed to make Budding Entroized Fluix, then harvest the buds. Unlike Budding Certus Quartz, it always decays.[3][8]
Next comes "Complex Crafter: The Crystal Assembler" quest. Most of the extended devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you need the Crystal Assembler to build them. That quest unlocks the rest of the chapter, including "Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest.[3][9]
How do you get started with Extended AE?
4 parts
Extended AE adds a lot of upgraded AE2 machines, and most of them depend on one resource: the Entro Crystal. So the first goal is simple. Grow Entro Crystals, then build the Crystal Assembler, which crafts most of the other devices.[3][8][9]
Step 1: Craft an Entro Seed
Start with the Entro Seed. Right-click a Fluix Block in the world with it and the block becomes Budding Entroized Fluix, which grows Entro Buds the way Budding Certus Quartz does. The quest "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest walks you through this.[3][10][11]

This is a shapeless crafting table recipe, unchanged from the mod.
Step 2: Harvest Entro Crystals
Harvest the Entro Cluster to get Entro Crystals. Breaking a bud that isn't fully grown gives you an Entro Shard instead, and eight shards can be crafted back into a crystal. Every time you break the Budding Entroized Fluix itself, it drops one Entro Dust, whatever state it is in.[3][8][13]
Turns Entro Shards back into an Entro Crystal.
The pack also gives you other routes to Entro Crystals. It changes the reaction recipe that turns Fluix into a crystal, adds a Mystical Agriculture essence recipe, and changes a Productive Bees centrifuge recipe.[12]

Step 3: Build the Crystal Assembler
Most ExtendedAE devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you need the Crystal Assembler. The Crystal Assembler itself is made in a normal crafting table. It can also do some in-world transformations, such as fluix transformation. The face with the screen can't connect to your ME network. In the quest book, "Complex Crafter: The Crystal Assembler" quest comes right after the Entro Crystals quest.[3][9][12]

Step 4: Pick your first devices
After the Crystal Assembler, the quests open up several branches. The Circuit Slicer is a good early pick if the normal Inscriber is too slow. It slices blocks directly into processor prints, and the quest says it makes up to 9 circuits at a time. The pack adds a second recipe for it that uses a universal press.[3][5][12]

The quest "Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest covers the faster and bigger versions of AE2 devices. The ME Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots, which is 4 times as many as an ordinary Pattern Provider. The Extended Import and Export Buses work about 8 times faster than regular ones and take more upgrades.[3]

How does Extended AE work?
8 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting. Here is how its main systems fit together in this pack: the Entro crystal chain, the crafting machines, storage and item handling, filtering buses and the wireless links.[1][15]
The Entro crystal chain
Entro Crystal is the main crafting ingredient for most Extended AE items and machines. You grow it like Certus Quartz, using Budding Entroized Fluix.[8][11]
To get a budding block, craft an Entro Seed and right-click a Fluix Block in the world with it. The block turns into Budding Entroized Fluix. The guide also mentions injecting the seed automatically, but that gives lower-grade budding blocks than the manual method.[10][11]

Buds grow like Certus Quartz buds, but the degradation of Budding Entroized Fluix is unavoidable. If you break a bud before it is fully grown, you get an Entro Shard. Eight shards can be crafted back into a crystal.[13][14]
Entro Block is the storage block for crystals, and you can unpack it again. The pack also changed the allthecompressed decompress recipes that produce the Entro Block and the Block of Silicon, so check those recipes in-game if you use compressed blocks.[12][16]

The Assembler Matrix multiblock
The Assembler Matrix is a multiblock that can run many crafting jobs at once, as long as your ME network has enough of the required crafting items. It also saves you channels.[4]
- Shape: a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. It must be completely filled, not hollow.[4]
- Edges use Assembler Matrix Frame. Faces use Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass. The interior holds Pattern, Craft and Speed Cores.[4]
- A valid matrix needs at least one Pattern Core and one Craft Core.[4]
- Pattern Core: the matrix only takes patterns from its Pattern Cores, and each one provides 36 pattern slots.[4]
- Craft Core: the matrix hands crafting jobs to its Craft Cores, and each one runs 8 jobs at the same time.[4]
- Speed Core: 5 speed cores give full speed, and more than 5 add nothing.[4]
When the matrix is formed and powered, the lines on the frame turn blue. Right-click a formed, online matrix to open its GUI, where you can add or search patterns and see how many jobs it is running.[4]
The pack changed the Assembler Matrix Frame recipe, so don't rely on the mod default. The wall and glass recipes are unchanged mod recipes.[12]

Parallel machines
- Extended Molecular Assembler: runs eight crafting jobs at once and works twice as fast as the normal one. You can't put a pattern in it directly.[18]
- Extended Inscriber: runs 4 inscribing jobs at once. It has a button to change its maximum stack size, like the normal Inscriber.[19]
- Extended Charger: charges 4 items at the same time.[20]
- Circuit Slicer: slices material blocks straight into processor prints, up to nine times faster than an Inscriber. Glass faces without a port can't connect to the network.[5]
- ME Canner: fills containers with fluids, and with other materials if you install the matching addon (Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon). The first slot holds the filling material and the second holds the item to fill. Each operation costs 80 AE, and only the top and bottom sides connect to the network.[7]
For automated canning, a pattern must contain only the filling material and the container. To empty a container, switch the inputs and outputs in the pattern and use Empty mode.[7]
Storage and item handling
- ME Extended Drive holds 20 storage cells.[21]
- ME Extended Pattern Provider and ME Extended Interface have a larger pattern inventory and configuration inventory. The mod page lists them as 36-slot versions.[1][22][23]
- ME Ingredient Buffer stores 36 types of contents, from items to fluids.[24]
- ME Oversize Interface has the same number of slots as the normal interface but holds 16 times as many items per slot (configurable), so 1024 items per slot.[25]
- ME Extended IO Port works eight times faster than the normal one and has more upgrade slots.[26]
- ME Extended Import Bus and ME Extended Export Bus have a default speed multiplier of 8 (configurable) and more upgrade slots than the normal buses.[27]
- Infinity Cobblestone Cell and the water version hold 2.1 billion items or fluids. You can extract or insert unlimited cobblestone or water.[28]
Unverified The pack has no Extended AE config files in the sources, so whether it changed the bus speed multiplier, the Oversize Interface multiplier or the Packing Tape device list is unconfirmed. The numbers above are the mod's documented defaults.
Filtering and export logic
- ME Mod Export Bus and the ME Mod Storage Bus filter by mod name or mod ID. Separate several mod IDs with commas.[29][30]
- The ME Tag Export Bus and ME Tag Storage Bus filter by item or fluid tags. The Tag Storage Bus also supports basic logical operators, for example c:ingots/* | c:gems/*.[31][32]
- ME Precise Export Bus exports exact quantities, and only if the target container can fully accept the whole output. It also stops when the network holds less than that quantity.[33]
- ME Precise Storage Bus inserts items only up to a numerical limit you configure.[34]
- ME Threshold Export Bus exports when the stored amount is above or below a threshold, depending on its mode.[35]
- ME Threshold Level Emitter acts like a latch. With a lower threshold of 100 and an upper threshold of 150, it switches on once the stored amount passes 150, stays on while the amount falls toward 100, and switches off when it drops below 100.[36]
- ME Smart Annihilation Plane breaks blocks or absorbs items according to its configuration inventory. ME Active Formation Plane places blocks or drops items. Neither needs a subnet.[6][37]

Upgrading, moving and bulk editing
Upgrade items replace normal ME devices with extended versions without breaking them. Sneak and right-click the device, and its settings and inventories are kept. The pack has upgrades for pattern providers, interfaces, import/export buses, the pattern access terminal and the drive.[12][38]
- Pattern Provider Upgrade[38]
- Interface Upgrade[38]
- Import/Export Bus Upgrade[38]
- Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade[38]
- Drive Upgrade[38]
ME Packing Tape packs a placed ME device into a package item when you sneak and right-click it. All settings and inventory are retained. Right-click with the package to unpack it. It only works on devices from a configurable list.[39]
Config Modifier bulk-edits configuration inventories, such as an interface's. Its modes are add, subtract, multiply, divide, maximize, minimize, set and clear. The Pattern Modifier does bulk pattern edits in multiply, replace, property and clone modes. Its multiply button caps any ingredient at 999999, and its divide button only works when the amount divides evenly.[40][41]

Wireless links
ME Wireless Connector links two networks one-to-one. It has limited range and can't cross dimensions. Link a pair with the ME Wireless Setup Kit. Connectors can be colored and only connect to cables or connectors of the same color.[42]
Power cost grows with distance on a non-linear curve, so it can become very high when connectors are far apart. Each card reduces the cost by 10%. The ME Wireless Hub works the same way but has 8 ports, so it can connect up to 8 hubs or connectors. When all ports are taken, disconnect one manually with the X button.[42][43]
How do you progress through Extended AE?
5 parts
In this pack, ExtendedAE has its own quest chapter, "Extended & Advanced AE". The path is simple: get Entro Crystals, build the Crystal Assembler, then branch out into extended devices, wireless links and the Assembler Matrix.[3]
Tier 1: Entro Crystals
Everything starts with "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest. You make an Entro Seed, then right-click a Fluix Block with it. That creates Budding Entroized Fluix, which grows Entro Buds the way Budding Certus Quartz does. Unlike Certus, its decay is inevitable. It always drops one Entro Dust when broken, and Entro Buds drop Entro Shard while they aren't fully grown.[3]

Tier 2: The Crystal Assembler
Next is "Complex Crafter: The Crystal Assembler" quest. The quest explains that a Crafting Table isn't enough for ExtendedAE devices. The Crystal Assembler assembles them and can also handle in-world reactions, though not as well as the Reaction Chamber. It can assemble processors too, 4 at a time. The face with the screen can't connect to an ME Network.[3]
You craft the Crystal Assembler itself in a normal crafting table. Its recipe uses an Extended Machine Frame, and that frame turns up in several later recipes too.[12]

Tier 3: Tools and extended devices
Several quests list the Crystal Assembler quest as their prerequisite, so they open up together once you have it.[3]
- "Get-Yer-Crystals-Fixed: The Crystal Fixer" quest: the Crystal Fixer repairs Budding Certus Crystals with Charged Certus Quartz and Entroized Fluix with Ender Dust. It also has a small chance to make Flawless Budding Certus Quartz.[3]
- "Blocks to Circuits: The Circuit Slicer" quest: the Circuit Slicer slices blocks into circuits, up to 9 at a time (4 for certus or entro).[3]
- "Can this Liquid: The ME Canner" quest: the ME Canner fills or empties containers such as buckets.[3]
- "Actively Placing From The Network: The Active Formation Plane" quest: the ME Active Formation Plane works like an export bus that treats the world as its medium, so you don't need a subnet.[3]
- "Better Pattern Access: The Extended Pattern Access Terminal" quest: the ME Extended Pattern Access Terminal adds pattern search by ingredient name, pattern highlighting and in-world highlighting of Pattern Providers.[3]
The pack gives the Circuit Slicer a second recipe on top of the mod's own, one that uses a Universal Press.[12]

"Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest covers the extended devices. These are AE2 devices that are faster, bigger, or both. The ME Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots, 4 times as many as a normal Pattern Provider. The extended import and export buses work about 8x faster and support more upgrades. There is one quest for the whole group, so you won't find separate quests for each device.[3]

You don't have to rebuild existing setups. The upgrade items let you sneak and right-click a normal device to turn it into its extended version, keeping its settings and inventories.[38]
Tier 4: Wireless and the Assembler Matrix
"Connections across long distances: The Wireless Connector" quest gives you the ME Wireless Connector. It links two points of an ME Network wirelessly, like a Quantum Bridge, but only up to about 1000 blocks and not across dimensions. You link two connectors with the ME Wireless Setup Kit. After that, "Branches of Connections: The Wireless Hub" quest covers the ME Wireless Hub, which connects to 8 different connectors or hubs but transfers only 32 channels in total.[3]

The last stretch of the chapter is "Many Assemblers In One: The Assembler Matrix" quest, which comes after the extended devices quest and unlocks the Assembler Matrix. This multiblock holds many Molecular Assemblers and Pattern Providers on a single channel. It must be a filled cuboid between 3x3x3 and 7x7x7. The edges are Assembler Matrix Frame, the faces are Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass, and the interior holds the cores. The quest's 7x7x7 example needs 43 frames and 125 walls, and it gives you 25 of each as a reward.[3][4]
The pack changed the frame recipe, while the wall recipe is the mod's own.[12]

Side quests: cells
"Matter Condenser in a Cell: The Void Cell" quest and "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest follow a different earlier quest, not the Crystal Assembler chain. The ME Void Cell must be partitioned in a Cell Workbench before use. It deletes matching items entering the system, or condenses them into Matter Balls or Singularities. The Infinity Cells give a limitless supply of one resource, such as Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell. The quest also accepts many other infinity cells from the kubejs namespace, such as lava, dirt and sand.[3]

How does Extended AE work with other mods?
7 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2, so most of what you craft with it is built from AE2 parts. The pack also wires it into several other mods through its own recipes. Here is where the connections show up.[1][12]
Built on Applied Energistics 2
Most Extended devices are upgraded versions of AE2 machines. The ME Extended Drive, Extended Inscriber and Extended Charger are made in the Crystal Assembler from the matching AE2 device plus a Concurrent Processor. The quest chapter says the Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots, 4 times as many as an ordinary Pattern Provider, and that the Extended Export and Import Buses work about 8x faster than the regular ones.[3][12]
The Crystal Assembler itself is crafted from AE2 parts, and it is the machine you need for most other Extended devices.[9][12]

Concurrent Processors and other mods
The Concurrent Processor is the key part for many devices. Its Crystal Assembler recipe is marked as changed by the pack. The pack also added two routes of its own, shown below: an Inscriber recipe for the Printed Concurrent Circuit, and a Modern Industrialization assembler recipe for the processor that runs on Molten Redstone.[12][44]

Entro Crystals
The quests have you grow Entro Crystal by right-clicking a Fluix Block with an Entro Seed. The pack adds two shortcuts, shown below: one starts from Entro Essence from Mystical Agriculture, and the other is an Advanced AE reaction recipe that the pack changed.[3][12]

Advanced AE and ExpandedAE
Several add-ons build on Extended AE parts. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is built on the ME Extended Pattern Provider, while the Quantum Crafting Unit, the Quantum Computer Accelerator and the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader all use Extended AE items too. The pack changed all of these recipes.[12]

Wireless terminals
The Wireless Extended Pattern Access Terminal can be combined with other wireless terminals through combine recipes that the pack changed, such as the Wireless Crafting Terminal, the Wireless Pattern Access Terminal, the Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal and the Wireless Expanded Pattern Encoding Terminal.[12]
Compressed blocks, Mekanism and infinity cells
- The pack lets you compress the Block of Silicon and Entro Block into Block of Silicon 1x and Entro Block 1x, and decompress them back.[12]
- Quartz Blend can be turned into Silicon in a Mekanism enriching recipe that the pack changed, as well as by smelting or blasting.[12]
- The pack added a Gravel Cell. It needs an Infinity Cobblestone Cell, a Mekanism Crusher, Gravel 6x and three Allthemodium alloy ingots. It is one of the many pack-made infinity cells listed in the Infinity Cells quest.[3][12]

ME Canner
The ME Canner quest says it can handle containers for fluids, chemicals and energy. The mod's own guide says it fills only fluids by default and lists Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics and Applied Botanics Addon as the addons that add other materials.[3][7]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Extended AE?
4 parts
The quests for this mod sit in one chapter, "Extended & Advanced AE". The tree is easy to follow: you start with Entro Crystals, unlock the Crystal Assembler, and most of the rest branches off from that.[3]
The starting point
- "The Crystals of Space and Time: Entro Crystals" quest is the first quest of this mod in the chapter, and it comes after a quest named "ExtendedAE". You hand in an Entro Seed, then an Entro Crystal. The quest explains that you right click a Fluix Block with the seed to make Budding Entroized Fluix, which grows Entro Buds.[3]
- "Complex Crafter: The Crystal Assembler" quest comes next and asks for the Crystal Assembler. The quest says you need it to make the ExtendedAE devices, and it can also assemble processors, 4 at a time.[3]
Quests that unlock after the Crystal Assembler
Once the Crystal Assembler quest is done, all of these open up and you can take them in any order.[3]
- "Actively Placing From The Network: The Active Formation Plane" quest asks for the ME Active Formation Plane, which the quest describes as working like an export bus that treats the world as its medium.[3]
- "Can this Liquid: The ME Canner" quest asks for the ME Canner, which fills or empties containers such as buckets.[3]
- "Get-Yer-Crystals-Fixed: The Crystal Fixer" quest asks for the Crystal Fixer, which fixes decaying budding crystals.[3]
- "Faster and Bigger: Extended Devices" quest accepts any one of the extended devices, such as the ME Extended Pattern Provider, ME Extended Drive or ME Extended IO Port. The quest says the Extended Pattern Provider has 36 pattern slots, 4 times as many as an ordinary one.[3]
- "Blocks to Circuits: The Circuit Slicer" quest asks for the Circuit Slicer (the Circuit Slicer), which can make up to 9 circuits at a time from a block.[3]
- "Connections across long distances: The Wireless Connector" quest asks for both the ME Wireless Connector and the ME Wireless Setup Kit. The quest gives a range of about 1000 blocks and says it can't cross dimensions.[3]
- "Better Pattern Access: The Extended Pattern Access Terminal" quest asks for the ME Extended Pattern Access Terminal, which adds pattern search by ingredient name and in-world highlighting of Pattern Providers.[3]
Follow-up quests
- "Branches of Connections: The Wireless Hub" quest unlocks after the Wireless Connector quest and asks for the ME Wireless Hub. The quest says a hub connects to 8 different connectors or hubs and transfers 32 channels in total.[3]
- "Many Assemblers In One: The Assembler Matrix" quest unlocks after the Extended Devices quest. It asks for an Assembler Matrix Frame plus either Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass. The quest walks you through a 7x7x7 build, and says the matrix must be at least 3x3x3.[3]
- "Assembler Matrix Cores" quest follows the Assembler Matrix quest and asks for the Assembler Matrix Pattern Core, Assembler Matrix Craft Core and Assembler Matrix Speed Core. Per the quest, each Craft Core adds 8 parallel crafting jobs and each Pattern Core adds 36 pattern slots.[3]
Cell quests
Two quests in the chapter are about storage cells, and both unlock after the same earlier quest. "Matter Condenser in a Cell: The Void Cell" quest asks for the ME Void Cell, which needs partitioning in a Cell Workbench before use. "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest is about Infinity Cells. Its task accepts any one item from a long list that includes the Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell, along with many other cells.[3]
What changed in Extended AE between versions?
All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Extended AE 1.21-2.2.35-neoforge. The mod was already in the pack by version 2.25 or earlier, and 2.2.35 is the build the pack moved to in 7.3.[2][45]
The pack changelogs only record which build each release moved to. Here is the full trail, starting from the earliest bump on record.[45][46]
- 2.26: 2.1.9 to 2.1.10.[46]
