What is AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon that makes running your ME System more convenient and pushes end-game setups further. It adds pattern providers that can send each ingredient to a specific side of a machine, multiblock crafting computers that can run an unlimited number of crafts at once, and a lot of quality-of-life extras on top.[1][2]
This pack ships AdvancedAE version 1.1.16. If you already have a working ME System and want it to handle more automation with less hassle, this mod is for you.[2][3]
What it adds
- Advanced Pattern Providers: You use the Advanced Pattern Encoder to pick which face each input of a processing pattern gets pushed to. That lets you automate side-picky machines with a single block and no pipes.[1][4][5]
- Quantum Computer: This special crafting unit can run an unlimited number of crafting tasks at the same time, as long as it has enough crafting storage. All those tasks share the co-processors in the multiblock. The Quantum Core alone gives you 256M of storage and 8 co-processors. The multiblock scales up to 5x5x5 and uses a single channel.[1][6]
- Quantum Crafter: This auto crafter can perform a series of crafting operations every tick, pulling directly from your ME System's inventory. It can also do recursive crafts.[1]
- Quantum Armor: This armor set links to your ME System. With upgrade cards it gains perks like flight, night vision, a magnet and auto feeding from ME storage.[1][7]
- Extra devices: You also get the Reaction Chamber for efficient material processing, a Stock Export Bus that keeps an exact amount in a target inventory, and the ME Throughput Monitor for tracking items, fluids and energy.[1]
Where it fits in this pack
The pack's questbook asks for the full Quantum Armor set, Quantum Helmet, Quantum Chestplate, Quantum Leggings and Quantum Boots, in the quest a quest in "?" in its armor chapter.[8]
AdvancedAE also appears in the pack's Star questline. The quest a quest in "?" in the Star chapter asks you to obtain a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader.[9]
Unverified It is unconfirmed whether the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader is actually needed to craft the pack's final Star item, or only shows up as a step in that chapter.
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.12 guide
AdvancedAE is an AE2 add-on, so start with a working ME network and build on it. The mod gives you two big upgrades: pattern providers that push items into specific sides of a machine, and a multiblock crafting computer that can run an unlimited number of crafts as long as it has crafting storage left.[1][2]
Step 1: Pattern encoder and provider
Make these two first, because they cut down on pipes. The Advanced Pattern Encoder lets you choose which face of the target machine each ingredient is sent to. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is the block that delivers the items. The pack changed both recipes, so go by the ones below.[1][4][5][10]

- Encode a processing pattern as usual.[4]
- Right-click with the Advanced Pattern Encoder, put the pattern in the left slot, and pick a face for each ingredient. Leaving a row on the "A" button sends it to whatever face touches the provider.[4]
- Take the advanced pattern out and insert it into the Advanced Pattern Provider.[5]
Already have regular or Extended providers? The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts them and keeps the same number of slots, so you don't lose the materials from earlier upgrades.[11]
Step 2: A quality-of-life bus
The ME Import Export Bus is a mixture of an import bus and an export bus. The filter sets what gets exported, and anything not on the filter is a valid stack to import.[12]
Step 3: Your first Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the Quantum Computer. By itself it forms a working computer with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads. As a standalone block, it needs power through its Up or Down sides.[6]
The core recipe needs a Quantum Crafting Unit and a Shattered Singularity. The singularity is produced by a chemical reaction in the Reaction Chamber, so build that machine first. The pack changed the Quantum Crafting Unit recipe.[10][13]

Step 4: Grow the computer
Once the core works, expand it into a multiblock. Each Quantum Computer Accelerator adds 8 co-processors, and every running craft shares them. The pack changed the accelerator recipe. Use Quantum Computer Structural Glass for the outside layer.[6][10][13]

The multiblock size limit and the multiplier values are tweakable in server configs, and you can check the limits for your instance on the item tooltips.[6][13]
Later goals
- The Quantum Computer Multi-Threader has its own quest, a quest in "?", in the chapter "Chapter 3: The ATM Star", after the "Applied Energistics" quest. The pack changed its recipe so it is made in the Crystal Assembler.[10][15]
- The Quantum Crafter is an auto-crafter that needs a single channel. It keeps chosen recipes running and lets you set stock levels and output limits.[16]
- The Quantum Armor can be linked to your ME system and has defenses comparable to Netherite by default. Its quest is a quest in "?" in the "Basic Armor" chapter. The pack changed each piece's recipe, shown below for the helmet.[7][10][17]

How does AdvancedAE work?
7 parts
AdvancedAE pushes your ME system in two big directions. Pattern providers can send each ingredient to a specific face of a machine, and quantum computers can run an unlimited number of crafts at once, all sharing their co-processors, as long as there's crafting storage left. On top of that you get a non-stop auto-crafter, a power-hungry reaction machine and several handy network parts.[1][2]
Directional pattern providers
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is an upgraded pattern provider that lets you pick which face of the target machine each individual item in a pattern goes into. Machines that need specific inputs on specific sides can be automated with a single block and no pipes. Mekanism players, this one's for you.[5]
For this to work, the provider needs an advanced pattern. You make one by putting an encoded processing pattern into the Advanced Pattern Encoder and taking out the advanced version. Right-click with the encoder in hand to open its GUI. Once you insert a pattern, it lists every raw ingredient, and each row has a button for every block face.[4][5]
- Leaving a row on the "A" button sends that ingredient to whatever face is directly connected to the pattern provider.[4][18]
- Picking a specific face (Up, Down, North, South, East or West) forces that ingredient into that face of the machine.[4][18]
- If even one item can't be inserted into its chosen face, nothing is inserted directionally and the provider falls back to normal pattern provider behaviour.[4]
- Advanced patterns only decode properly in the advanced provider. In other pattern providers they behave like normal patterns.[4][5]

The provider comes as a full block and as a cable part, Advanced Extended Pattern Provider. You can switch between the two forms in a crafting grid.[5][19]
You don't have to rebuild existing setups. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade turns a regular AE2 pattern provider or an ExtendedAE Extended Pattern Provider into the advanced version in place. You keep your patterns and upgrades, and the provider keeps the same number of slots.[11][18]
The Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade goes further: it gives you an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots, the maximum.[11][18]
The Quantum Computer
The quantum computer is a special crafting computer. It can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has enough crafting storage, and every running pattern shares all of its co-processors. The whole multiblock uses a single channel.[1][6]
The Quantum Core is the heart of the computer. The guide lists it at 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads on its own. It's the only block that can form a working quantum computer by itself. Used alone, it takes power through its Up or Down sides, where the connectors are.[6]
Unverified The core's tooltip uses a variable for its thread count, so the pack's change to accelerator threads might also change the core's own threads. Check the core's tooltip in-game.
You get far more power by building the core into a multiblock. These are the parts, with this pack's values:[6]
- Quantum Structure blocks form the frame and connect everything together. They go on the outside layer.[6][18]
- Quantum Storage blocks come in 128M and 256M versions. They add crafting storage, which means more tasks can run at the same time.[6]
- Each Quantum Computer Accelerator adds 12 co-processor threads in this pack, up from the mod's default of 8.[6][18][20]
- The Quantum Data Entangler multiplies the storage of every storage block in the multiblock. This pack sets the multiplier to 6 instead of the default 4, and you can place only 1 per computer.[6][20]
- The Quantum Multi-Threader multiplies the co-processing power of your accelerators. This pack sets it to 6 instead of the default 4, and you can place only 1 per computer.[6][20]
Multiblock rules
- The maximum size is 7x7x7, measured on the outside. This pack keeps the default of 7.[6][20]
- Build the multiblock around one Quantum Core.[1]
- There can be no empty spaces inside. Filler blocks are allowed but give no extra benefit.[6]
- Every block on the outside layer must be a Quantum Structure.[6][18]
- You can use at most one Data Entangler and one Multi-Threader.[6][20]

Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is a fast, configurable auto-crafter that pulls directly from your ME system's inventory to craft non-stop. It also handles fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts, where an input also comes back as an output. Examples are smithing templates and recipes with a non-consumed ingredient.[1][16]
- Place the crafter and connect it with a cable. It needs a single channel.[16]
- Encode the recipes you want to run forever as crafting patterns and insert them into the crafter's pattern slots.[16]
- Use the square button under each pattern to enable or disable it, and the cog button to open its Pattern Configuration screen.[16]
- In that screen, set how much of each ingredient to always keep in the ME system and a maximum amount of the product. Math expressions work, and you press Enter to apply each value. An output limit of 0 means no limit, so crafting continues until the inputs run out.[16][18]
By default, finished items go straight into the ME system. The cell button on the left toolbar switches output to adjacent inventories instead, and an extra button then lets you choose which sides are allowed to export.[16][18]
The crafter accepts two kinds of upgrade cards. One boosts speed up to 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and the other adds redstone control.[16]
Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber uses a catalyst fluid and a lot of power to force chemical reactions, often with more efficient results than the normal methods. It makes several items you need to progress in AdvancedAE, including the Shattered Singularity used in quantum computing.[1][14][18]
Acceleration Cards make the chamber burn through its power cost faster, so it needs more power per tick. If it draws from the ME grid and can't get a full tick's worth, your network's power can flicker on and off. Fix this by adding energy buffers to the grid or removing some cards. The chamber can also pull power directly from Applied Flux energy cells in your drives.[14]
- Full block pattern provider: connects the chamber directly to the grid so it can draw power. If the grid's stored power is below the per-tick requirement, progress slows down and a warning appears.[14]
- External power: any source that can push energy will fill the chamber's buffer. A warning appears if the power arrives too slowly.[14]
- Induction Cards (needs Applied Flux): placed in cable part or directional pattern providers, they export power from Energy Cells. They ramp up over time, so crafting starts slow and speeds up.[14]
Stock Export Bus and Throughput Monitor
The Stock Export Bus keeps an exact amount of each filtered stack in the target inventory and never inserts above that number. Drag an item into a filter slot and middle-click it to set the amount. It won't pull out extra items or fluids that go over the amount. It also accepts a crafting card, so it can craft what it needs.[1][18][21]
The ME Throughput Monitor tracks one item or fluid, and with Applied Flux also energy in FE cells, and shows how fast the amount changes. It doesn't need a channel. The Throughput Monitor Configurator cycles the display between per tick, per second and per minute. Readings can take a moment to settle after you switch modes.[1][22]
Quantum Armor and the grid
Each quantum armor piece can be linked to your ME system on its own. Grid features such as auto-feeding, auto-stocking and wireless recharging only work while you're in range of the connected access point. With the armor equipped, press the configuration hotkey (N by default) to add, toggle and configure upgrade cards. This pack keeps the mod's default armor values, for example a magnet range of 12 and an HP buffer of 20.[7][20]
How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
3 parts
AdvancedAE has two main branches. You start with smarter pattern providers you can use early in your ME setup. Later you build toward a huge quantum crafting computer, and alongside it the Quantum Armor that wears your ME system.[2][5][6][7]
Tier 1: Advanced Pattern Providers
Your first step is the directional pattern provider. It lets you choose which face of a machine each ingredient is pushed into, so side-picky machines can be automated from a single block with no pipes. There are two versions: Advanced Pattern Provider, which upgrades a regular ME Pattern Provider, and Advanced Extended Pattern Provider, which upgrades ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Provider.[5][19]
This pack changed the recipes for both providers, so check the in-pack versions below rather than an older mod recipe you may remember. Each provider also has a cable-part form, and you can swap freely between the block and the part in a crafting grid.[19]

Advanced Extended Pattern Provider (changed by the pack)
Already have a wall of providers full of patterns? Use Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade on a regular Pattern Provider or an Extended Pattern Provider. It converts the provider to the advanced version and keeps the same number of slots, so you don't waste the materials you spent upgrading to extended. The pack changed this recipe too.[11][19]

The mod's guide also describes a capacity upgrade, Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade. It takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots.[11]
Unverified The recipe list available for this section does not show a recipe for the capacity upgrade, so check in-game whether you can craft it in this pack. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
To use the directional feature, you need the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click with it, put an encoded processing pattern in the left slot, then pick a face for each ingredient. Advanced patterns only work directionally in advanced providers. In any other provider they behave like normal patterns. The pack changed the encoder's recipe as well.[4][5][19]

Tier 2: The Quantum Computer
This is the endgame crafting CPU. A Quantum Computer can run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has enough crafting storage. The Quantum Computer Core is its heart, with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads on its own. The core is also the only block that can form a working quantum computer by itself.[6]
The basic building block is Quantum Crafting Unit, and almost every other part needs it. The casing, Quantum Computer Structural Glass, is the cheap part of the build.[19]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumstructure
From there you work up through Quantum Computer Accelerator, 128M Quantum Computer Storage and then 256M Quantum Computer Storage, which is crafted from the 128M block. The core itself needs an accelerator and a 256M storage block, so plan to build those first. Several of these parts also need Shattered Singularity, so a steady singularity supply helps a lot.[19]

The top piece is Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. It is crafted in ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler, not a crafting table, and it needs a Quantum Computer Core, so it comes last. A quest in the pack, a quest in "?", asks you to obtain one.[9][19]

Tier 3: Quantum Armor and upgrade cards
The Quantum Armor is an energy-powered suit with defences comparable to Netherite. It can use its energy buffer as a damage-absorbing shield, and its real power comes from upgrade cards. This pack changed all four armor recipes: each piece is now built on the matching Unobtainium armor piece, which puts the set firmly in the late game. The pack's quest a quest in "?" asks for all four pieces.[7][8][19]

The chestplate, leggings and boots follow the same pattern (all changed by the pack)
Every upgrade card starts from Quantum Upgrade Base Card. It does nothing on its own. Once you have a few base cards, you can branch into movement, utility and combat cards such as Flight Card, ME Recharging Card and Strength Card. The pack changed the Strength Card recipe.[7][19]

Several perks only work when the armor pieces are linked to your ME system through their slots in an access point and you stay in range of that access point. You install cards with the pieces equipped, through the Quantum Armor Configuration Menu (hotkey N by default).[7]
Unverified How Quantum Alloy, Quantum Alloy Plates and Quantum Processors are made in this pack isn't shown in the available recipe list. These parts feed the armor and every upgrade card, so look them up in your recipe viewer before starting this tier. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
4 parts
AdvancedAE is an addon for Applied Energistics 2, so almost every recipe you'll make for it uses AE2 parts like processors, cards and wireless access points. The more interesting part is how this pack ties it into the other mods around it. Some of those links come from the mod itself, and the pack added or changed others.[1][19]
ExtendedAE
ExtendedAE is the biggest partner here. The Concurrent Processor goes into the Quantum Crafting Unit, the Quantum Computer Accelerator and the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. That makes it a must-have for the whole Quantum Computer line. The Multi-Threader and the Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade are crafted in ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler. The Assembler also has an alternative recipe for the Quantum Processor alongside the normal Inscriber one.[19]
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is built from ExtendedAE's ME Extended Pattern Provider, and this pack changed that recipe. If you've already placed providers, you don't need to rebuild them. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on both regular AE2 Pattern Providers and ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Providers, and each keeps the slot count it already had. The Capacity Upgrade takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots.[11][19]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE shows up in two quest chapters in this pack, and each one asks for a single quest's worth of items. Here's what each quest wants from you.[8][9]
Armor chapter: the full Quantum set
In the "basic_armor" chapter, quest a quest in "?" has four item tasks, one for each piece of the Quantum armor set.[8]
Chapter 2: the Multi-Threader
The "chapter_2_the_star" chapter has quest a quest in "?", which asks for a single Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. This quest isn't open from the start: it unlocks only after you finish another quest earlier in that chapter, so work through the chapter before it.[9]
Unverified The quest files don't say whether you should do the armor quest or the Multi-Threader quest first, since they're in separate chapters with no link between them. They also don't show what rewards either quest gives, or the title of the quest that unlocks the Multi-Threader quest.
Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.6.0-beta guide
All of AdvancedAE's settings that this pack sets live in one file, config/advanced_ae-common.toml, and they all control the Quantum Computer multiblock. If you're planning a big crafting setup, these are the numbers to know.[23]
Values this pack sets
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] is 7 in this pack, and the allowed range is 5 to 12. This is the maximum dimensions of the multiblock.[23]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the data entanglers.[23]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the multi threaders.[23]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of Data Entanglers per multiblock.[23]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of multi threaders per multiblock.[23]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] is 12 (range 4 to 16).[23]
How this differs from the mod's description
The mod's project page describes the Quantum Computer multiblock as scaling up to 5x5x5, with the Quantum Data Entangler and Quantum Multi-Threader multiplying storage and co-processors by 4. This pack's config is different: the maximum size is set to 7 and both multiplication factors are set to 6. So a multiblock here can be bigger and gets a stronger boost from those two special blocks than the project page describes.[1][23]
For the standalone Quantum Core, the project page lists 256M storage and 8 co-processors. This pack's config doesn't show a change to those figures.[1][23]
Unverified The config file's comment for the accelerator threads option is a copy of the multi threader limit comment, so it's unclear exactly what that option controls. Its value of 12 is confirmed, but its effect in-game isn't.
What changed in AdvancedAE between versions?
3 parts
All the Mods 10 2.12 ships AdvancedAE 1.1.16-1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since version 0.46 or earlier. I had no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, and only for the releases that had one available.[3]
Newer releases
- 1.1.16 (the version in 2.12): fixed the progress bar going over 100% on the quantum computer menu.[3][24]
- 1.1.15: ported an AE2 fix for a crash (NPE) that happened when reallocating channels to multiblock structures.[25]
- 1.1.12: a potential fix to the maximum in energy generation when pulling energy from FE cells.[26]
- 1.1.11: updated to AE2 19.0.26+ and fixed a crash when upgrading a pattern provider to an advanced pattern provider without extended ae installed.[27]
- 1.1.10: fixed the Crafting Status Menu not showing recipe progress in CurseForge instances.[28]
- 1.1.8: fixed some quantum upgrades not applying immediately.[29]
- 1.1.6: fixed a crash when opening the quantum crafter job config screen, made a potential fix for a server/client desync when adding certain upgrades to the quantum armor, and stopped filtered item slots in the quantum armor configuration accepting multiple of the same item.[30]
- 1.1.3: fixed the Quantum Crafter crashing the game when it couldn't push fluids back to AE2.[31]
- 1.1.1: fixed the reaction chamber using the wrong amount of power during partial progress, the Auto Feed upgrade consuming permanent items (such as Eternal Steak), the Magnet Card never picking up items the player dropped, and the Auto Stock Card not stocking later items when an earlier one was missing from the system.[32]
1.1.4: the big fix-up
This was the largest release in the changelogs I have. A lot of it touched the quantum armor, the quantum crafter and the reaction chamber.[33]
- Quantum armor: charged versions were added to the creative tab, the armor toughness was updated, and the Stable Footing enchant was blocked for it. A bug where Stable Footing with the Quantum Chestplate made mining faster when flying than on the ground was also fixed, and the equip sound no longer plays when opening your inventory in creative mode.[33]
- Quantum crafter: an extra measure was added to stop it voiding unused inputs.[33]
- Reaction chamber: buckets can now be used on it, and it no longer ignores fluid amounts when checking for valid recipes, which could previously make it use less fluid than intended.[33]
- Other fixes: the memory card now works on advanced pattern providers to copy patterns, the Pick Craft Card tooltip was fixed, the Throughput Monitor Configurator got the wrench tag, and the press tag was removed from the quantum press to take it out of meteor chests. A safety check on break speed now prevents overflows.[33]
Older releases
- 1.0.13: Auto Feed slots now only accept food items, and amounts can be set on the Stock Exported and Quantum Armor filter slots. A bunch of missing tags were added.[34]
- 1.0.13 also improved the quantum armor: the set gives knockback immunity (25% per piece), the boots and chest got tooltips about Fall Damage and Flying Mining Penalty negation, and it gained energy-based damage absorption of at most 30% of incoming damage, which is configurable in the mod's configs.[34]
- 1.0.9: fixed part items (like pattern providers) not rendering in the output selection screen, and fixed the Reaction Chamber being unable to export to part pattern providers. Toggling upgrades now sends player messages, the chestplate recharging upgrade now recharges the offhand item, and flight speed now affects ascend and descent speed. A Chinese translation was added.[35]
- 1.0.9 also removed the Flight Upgrade Card requirement for Stable Footing when a quantum chestplate is equipped.[35]
- 1.0.7: fixed a bug that could lead to fluid duping.[36]
- 1.0.6: added a crafting recipe to the Throughput Monitor Configurator.[37]
- 0.6.1: fixed a crash when using the mod on a server.[38]
