What is AdvancedAE?
2 parts
AdvancedAE is an Applied Energistics 2 addon focused on convenience and quality of life when you're running an ME system, plus a big push into end-game automation. If you already have a working AE2 network and you're tired of pipes, crafting CPU juggling and micromanaging stock levels, this is the addon that cleans all of that up.[1][2]
This pack ships AdvancedAE 0.6.1 for Minecraft 1.21.1, so everything described here matches that build.[3]
What you get
- ME Advanced Pattern Providers, which let you choose exactly which face of a machine each ingredient is pushed into, so side-picky machines can be automated with one block and no pipes. You encode that face information with the Advanced Pattern Encoder.[1][4][5]
- The Quantum Computer, a multiblock crafting computer that runs an unlimited number of crafting jobs as long as it has crafting storage left, with every job sharing all co-processors in the structure.[1][6]
- The Quantum Crafter, a very fast auto-crafter that reaches into your ME inventory directly, handles recursive crafts, and can be told to keep ingredients in stock or cap the end product.[1][7]
- The Reaction Chamber, a power-hungry processing machine used to make the items you need to progress through AdvancedAE, and which also offers efficient recipes for other mods.[1][8]
- The Quantum Armor set, which links to your ME system for flight with no inertia, night vision, a magnet, auto feeding from ME storage and damage immunities.[1]
- Stock Export Buses that keep an exact amount in a target inventory and accept a crafting card, plus ME Throughput Monitors that track how fast items, fluids or energy are moving.[1]
Where it fits
Treat AdvancedAE as a late-game AE2 upgrade rather than a starting point. You need an existing network first, since the Quantum Crafter has to be cabled in and uses a channel, and the Advanced Pattern Provider is an upgrade to providers you already have.[5][7]
The pack does include a quest, a quest in "?", that asks you for a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader, so a Quantum Computer build is on your to-do list at some point.[9]
How do you get started with AdvancedAE?
5 parts
This mod is an Applied Energistics 2 addon, so everything here assumes you already have a working ME system with power and channels. Its focus is quality of life for your network: pattern providers that can push each ingredient to a specific machine face, better monitors and export buses, and a late-game Quantum Computer that can run an unlimited number of crafting jobs as long as it has crafting storage left.[1][2]
Step 1: an Advanced Pattern Provider
The single best reason to install this mod first shows up here. An Advanced Pattern Provider does everything a normal pattern provider does, plus it lets you choose which face of the target machine each item in a pattern goes to. That means no pipes and no extra blocks for machines that care about input sides.[1][5]

The small (9 slot) version to get you started.
If you already have providers full of patterns and upgrades, don't rebuild them. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade converts a normal or extended pattern provider to the advanced version while keeping the same number of slots, so nothing is lost and no patterns need to be moved.[10]

Step 2: the Advanced Pattern Encoder
A provider on its own isn't enough. You need the Advanced Pattern Encoder to turn an encoded processing pattern into an advanced one. Right-click it in hand to open the GUI, drop your pattern in the left slot, and pick a face for each ingredient; leaving a row on the "A" button just sends that item to whatever face the provider is touching.[4][5]

Step 3: cheap network upgrades
Two parts are worth making early because they're inexpensive and immediately useful. The ME Throughput Monitor works like a storage monitor but also tracks how much of one item or fluid your system gains or loses per second, and it doesn't use a channel.[11]
The ME Stock Export Bus keeps an exact amount of a filtered item in the target inventory instead of endlessly stuffing it. Drop an item in the filter slot and middle-click to set the amount you want kept in stock.[12][13]

Step 4: the Reaction Chamber
Everything past this point runs through the Reaction Chamber. It uses a catalyst fluid and a lot of power to force reactions, and it's the machine that produces the Shattered Singularity you'll need all over the quantum recipes.[8][13]

Step 5: your first quantum blocks
The Quantum Crafting Unit is the base component for nearly every quantum block, so make a stack of them before anything else.[14]
A good first payoff is the Quantum Crafter, an auto-crafter that reads your ME inventory directly, handles recursive recipes, and lets you set how much of each ingredient to keep and how much of the output to stop at.[7][14]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcrafter
After that, work toward the Quantum Computer Core. On its own it already forms a working quantum computer with 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, powered from its up or down connectors; building it into a multiblock with structure blocks, storages and accelerators is where it really scales.[6]

How does AdvancedAE work?
5 parts
Advanced AE is an AE2 addon built around two big ideas: making your ME system nicer to live with, and pushing end-game automation further. On the quality-of-life side it lets you upgrade pattern providers so they can push each ingredient to a specific face of the target machine. On the end-game side it adds multiblock crafting computers that can run an unlimited number of crafting jobs at once, all sharing the same pool of co-processors, for as long as they have crafting storage left.[1][2]
Directional pattern providers
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is a pattern provider that knows which face of the machine in front of it each individual item in a pattern belongs to. That means side-sensitive machines can be automated with a single block and no pipes at all. It comes in the usual two shapes, a full block and a cable part, and there is also a smaller Advanced Pattern Provider version.[1][5]
The targeting information lives in the pattern, not the provider, so you need the Advanced Pattern Encoder to write it. Right-click with it in hand to open its GUI, drop an encoded processing pattern into the left slot, and it decodes the pattern into a list of raw ingredients. Each row gets a set of buttons for every block face: leaving a row on the "A" button sends that ingredient to whatever face is directly connected to the provider, while picking a specific face forces insertion there.[4][13]
You do not have to rebuild an existing setup to get there. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular AE pattern providers and on ExtendedAE's extended providers, turning them into the advanced version while keeping the same number of pattern slots, so nothing you spent on the extended upgrade is wasted. The Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade goes straight from a regular pattern provider to an advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[10][13]
The Quantum Computer
The Quantum Computer is a special kind of crafting computer: instead of being limited by parallel CPUs, it will run an unlimited number of crafting requests as long as it has enough crafting storage, and every concurrent task is able to share all co-processors present in the multiblock. The whole thing consumes a single channel.[1][6]
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of it. It carries 256M of crafting storage and is the only block that can form a working quantum computer on its own. Used standalone, power has to be supplied through its Up or Down sides, where the connectors are. Building a multiblock around it is where the real gains come from.[6]
- 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage add 128M and 256M of crafting storage respectively, which directly raises how many concurrent tasks the computer can run.[6]
- Quantum Computer Accelerator blocks add co-processors. This pack sets [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] to 12 threads per accelerator, above the mod's documented 8, and because every job shares them it pays to stuff the multiblock with these.[6][13][15]
- The Quantum Data Entangler affects every storage block in the multiblock, letting them store data across extra dimensions. The pack sets [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] to 6, so total storage is multiplied by 6 rather than the mod's documented 4, and [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] allows 1 per multiblock.[6][13][15]
- The quantum multi-threader does the same trick for accelerators, multiplying the multiblock's co-processing power. Here too the pack raises the factor to 6 via [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]], with [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] set to 1 per multiblock.[6][13][15]
- Quantum Computer Structural Glass blocks are the framing that holds everything together and connects it.[6]
Assembling the multiblock follows a short set of rules.[6]
- The maximum size in this pack is 7x7x7, since [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] is raised to 7 from the mod's documented 5.[6][13][15]
- No empty spaces inside the multiblock; you can fill gaps with quantum structure blocks for no extra benefit.[6]
- Exactly one quantum core, at most one data entangler and at most one multi-threader.[6]
- Every block on the outside layer must be a quantum structure block, and no block on the inside may be one.[6]
Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter is a standalone auto-crafter that reads the ME system's inventory directly. Place it in your network and connect it with a cable; it needs a single channel. It handles fluid substitution crafts and recursive crafts where an input is also an output, which covers things like smithing templates and non-consumed ingredients.[1][7]
You drop crafting patterns into its pattern slots, and each pattern gets two buttons. The square button enables or disables it, and the cog opens a per-pattern configuration screen listing all ingredients plus the primary output. There you set how much of each ingredient to keep in the ME system at all times and a maximum amount of the end product so you never over-craft expensive items. The number fields accept mathematical expressions and need Enter to apply, with an indicator on the right confirming it; setting the output limit to 0 removes the limit and crafting continues until inputs run out.[7][13]
Outputs are just as configurable. By default finished items are pushed straight into the ME system, but left-clicking the cell button on the left toolbar switches it to pushing into adjacent inventories, and a second button then lets you choose exactly which sides are enabled for auto-export.[7][13]
Upgrade cards unlock the rest of its potential: acceleration greatly increases crafting speed, up to 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and a redstone card adds redstone control.[7]
Reaction Chamber
The Reaction Chamber accelerates chemical reactions using a catalyst fluid and a lot of power, forcing reactions that occur naturally to happen inside the controlled environment, usually with more efficient results. It is where AdvancedAE progression materials such as the Shattered Singularity come from, and it also offers efficient recipes for other mods.[1][8][13][14]
Power is the tricky part, because speeding the chamber up raises its power draw per tick. You have a few options.[8]
- A full block pattern provider connects the chamber straight to the AE2 grid and lets it pull stored grid energy. If the grid's stored power is below the required amount per tick, no progress is made and no power is consumed, so back the grid with a few energy cells.[8]
- External power works, but the chamber still needs a grid connection, so run at least a directly connected cable. A cable-part pattern provider also provides the grid connection without powering it.[8]
- With Applied Flux installed, Induction Cards in cable-part or directional pattern providers export power from energy cells into the chamber's energy storage. These have a ramp-up timer, so crafting starts slow and speeds up as stored power builds.[8]
Export and monitoring parts
The ME Stock Export Bus exports an exact amount of the filtered stacks instead of spamming the target full. It keeps track of how much is currently in the target inventory and does not insert above your configured number: open the GUI, drag the item into the filter slot and middle-click to set the amount. It accepts a crafting card so it can craft what it needs. Note that it only regulates insertion, so it will not pull extra items or fluids back out if the target goes over the configured amount.[1][12][13]
The ME Throughput Monitor is a storage monitor with a throughput meter bolted on. It tracks a single item or fluid type, watches changes in its quantity and displays the rate to you, and it does not require a channel. With Applied Flux it can also track energy in FE cells, and a dedicated configurator item cycles the display scale between per tick, per second and per minute.[1][11]
How do you progress through AdvancedAE?
6 parts
AdvancedAE is an add-on that sits on top of your existing ME system, so its progression follows your AE2 progression rather than replacing it. The early tier is all about quality of life for pattern providers, the middle tier upgrades providers you already placed, and the late tier is the Quantum Computer multiblock, which can run an unlimited number of crafting jobs as long as it has crafting storage left.[2][6]
Tier 1: pattern encoding and utility parts
Your first stop is the Advanced Pattern Encoder. Right-click it to open its GUI, drop an encoded processing pattern in the left slot, and every raw ingredient gets listed with a row of buttons for each block face it can be pushed to. Leaving a row on the "A" button keeps the default behaviour of sending to whatever face is connected, while picking a face forces the insert there.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:advpartenc
Those advanced patterns only work properly inside an Advanced Pattern Provider or its extended sibling; in any other pattern provider they behave like a normal pattern. That one feature lets you automate machines that demand specific input sides with a single block and no pipes. Note that if even one item can't go into the face you chose, nothing is inserted directionally and the provider falls back to standard behaviour.[4][5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:smalladvpatpro
Two more parts belong to this early tier: the ME Stock Export Bus and the ME Throughput Monitor. Both are plain crafting table recipes built from AE2 components, so you can add them the moment your network is running.[14]

Tier 2: upgrading providers you already placed
Once your base is full of pattern providers, you don't have to rip them out and move patterns around. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular AE2 Pattern Providers and on ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Providers, upgrading them to the advanced version while keeping the same number of slots, so nothing you spent on the extended upgrade is lost.[10]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:smallappupgrade
The Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade goes further and takes a regular Pattern Provider straight to an Advanced Pattern Provider with 36 pattern slots. In this pack it's a Crystal Assembler recipe rather than a crafting table one, so you'll need that machine running first.[10][14]

Tier 3: the Reaction Chamber and Shattered Singularities
The gate to the endgame is the Reaction Chamber. It's the machine that produces the Shattered Singularity, which is the recurring ingredient in almost every quantum component, so build one and get singularity production going before you start the multiblock.[8][14]

Tier 4: the Quantum Computer
Everything in the quantum tier is built up from the Quantum Crafting Unit, so set up a steady supply of those alongside your singularities.[14]
The Quantum Computer Core is the heart of the machine. On its own it has 256M of crafting storage and 8 co-processor threads, and it's the only block that can form a working quantum computer by itself. As a standalone computer, power has to be fed through the up or down sides where the connectors are.[6]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcore
From there you scale the multiblock with the following blocks.[6]
- 128M Quantum Computer Storage and 256M Quantum Computer Storage add 128M and 256M of crafting storage, which is what raises the number of concurrent jobs.[6]
- Quantum Computer Accelerator adds 8 co-processors each, and since every pattern running in the computer shares all co-processors, it's worth packing in a lot of them.[6]
- Quantum Data Entangler multiplies the storage of every storage block in the multiblock by 4. Only one is allowed per computer.[6]
- Quantum Computer Multi-Threader does the same for accelerators, multiplying their co-processing power by 4, and again only one fits per computer.[6]
- Quantum Computer Structural Glass is the framing. The outside layer must be made of it, no structure blocks are allowed inside, and it fills empty interior spaces for no extra benefit.[6]
The multiblock tops out at 5x5x5, it can't have empty spaces inside, and it needs exactly one core plus at most one entangler and one multi-threader.[6]
Crystal Assembler (extendedae)
4× Quantum Computer Accelerator
Quantum Computer Core
Quantum Crafting Unit
8× Shattered Singularity
8× Concurrent Processor
Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaequantummultithreader
Side branch: the Quantum Crafter
The Quantum Crafter isn't part of the multiblock; it's a standalone auto-crafter that connects to your network with a cable and one channel. You insert crafting patterns, set per-ingredient stock levels and an output cap, and it keeps those recipes topped up forever. With acceleration cards installed it reaches 64 crafts of each pattern per tick, and it also handles fluid substitution and recursive recipes.[7]

Recipe id: advanced_ae:quantumcrafter
Where the quests land
The pack's quest for this mod is a quest in "?", and it asks for a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader, which sits right at the top of the chain above singularities, quantum units, accelerators and a core. It unlocks after an earlier quest, so treat it as a late-game goal rather than something to rush.[9][14]
How does AdvancedAE work with other mods?
4 parts
AdvancedAE is an AE2 addon, so most of its links in the pack go through AE2 and the other ME addons. The pack also adds one recipe that pulls the Quantum Computer into a set of unrelated tech mods.[1][14]
AE2 and ExtendedAE pattern providers
The Advanced Pattern Provider is crafted from the plain ME Pattern Provider. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is crafted from ExtendedAE's ME Extended Pattern Provider. Both recipes also use the AE2 Logic Processor.[14]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaeadvpatpro
The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider is built from ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Provider.
If you already have providers placed, you don't need to rebuild them. The Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade works on regular Pattern Providers and on ExtendedAE's Extended Pattern Providers, and it keeps the slot count they already had. The Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade turns a regular Pattern Provider straight into an Advanced one with 36 pattern slots.[10]
The capacity upgrade is crafted in ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler and uses an AE2 Capacity Card together with ExtendedAE's Concurrent Processor.[14]
The point of all this is side-specific pushing. The in-game guide says it lets you automate machines that need particular inputs on particular sides with one block and no pipes, and it name-drops Mekanism as the classic example. You encode those sides with the Advanced Pattern Encoder.[4][5]
Quantum Computer: ExtendedAE and MEGA Cells parts
The Quantum Computer is built on AE2 crafting parts. The Quantum Crafting Unit starts from an AE2 Crafting Unit and an Singularity. It also needs ExtendedAE's Concurrent Processor, and that same processor shows up again in the Quantum Computer Accelerator and the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader.[14]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:eaequantumaccel
The accelerator uses a Concurrent Processor from ExtendedAE.
The 128M Quantum Computer Storage brings in MEGA Cells through the MEGA Bulk Storage Component. The Quantum Crafter uses AE2's 64k ME Storage Component.[14]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: advanced_ae:megaquantumstorage128
The Multi-Threader is crafted in ExtendedAE's Crystal Assembler instead of a crafting table.[14]
Other AE2 parts
The ME Stock Export Bus is made from AE2's ME Export Bus plus processors. The ME Throughput Monitor is made from the AE2 ME Storage Monitor and a Calculation Processor. The Quantum Computer Structural Glass, the framing block of the Quantum Computer, is made from AE2's Quartz Glass and Sky Stone.[14]
The pack's own link: Nexium Emitter
This is the one connection the pack added itself. The Nexium Emitter needs the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader together with parts from several other mods. They are the Infinity Range Booster, the Tesla Coil, Mekanism's Module Gravitational Modulating Unit, the Large Advanced Motor and the Player Transmitter (Nitro). This recipe is added by the pack and is not part of AdvancedAE itself.[14]

The quest book points you at the same part. Quest a quest in "?" in the chapter "chapter_2_the_star" has the Quantum Computer Multi-Threader as its task.[9]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use AdvancedAE?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.26 guide
AdvancedAE shows up in just one quest in this pack, so this section is short. It sits in the quest chapter with the internal id chapter_2_the_star.[16]
The Quantum Computer Multi-Threader quest
Quest a quest in "?" has no title. Its only task is to get a Quantum Computer Multi-Threader. Once you have one in your inventory, the quest counts as done.[16]
This quest doesn't unlock right away. It comes after another quest in the same chapter, so finish that one first and this one will open up.[16]
Unverified The quest file doesn't show any rewards, description text or follow-up quests for this AdvancedAE quest, and it doesn't say what the earlier quest asks for. Check the in-game quest book for those details.
Which AdvancedAE config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.6.0-beta guide
All of AdvancedAE's settings that this pack sets live in one file, config/advanced_ae-common.toml, and they all control the Quantum Computer multiblock. If you're planning a big crafting setup, these are the numbers to know.[17]
Values this pack sets
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxSize]] is 7 in this pack, and the allowed range is 5 to 12. This is the maximum dimensions of the multiblock.[17]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerDataEntanglerMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the data entanglers.[17]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMultiThreaderMultiplication]] is 6 (range 2 to 8). This is the multiplication factor of the multi threaders.[17]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputermaxDataEntanglers]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of Data Entanglers per multiblock.[17]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerMaxMultiThreaders]] is 1 (range 1 to 2). This is the maximum number of multi threaders per multiblock.[17]
- [[config:config/advanced_ae-common.toml#quantum computer.quantumComputerAcceleratorThreads]] is 12 (range 4 to 16).[17]
How this differs from the mod's description
The mod's project page describes the Quantum Computer multiblock as scaling up to 5x5x5, with the Quantum Data Entangler and Quantum Multi-Threader multiplying storage and co-processors by 4. This pack's config is different: the maximum size is set to 7 and both multiplication factors are set to 6. So a multiblock here can be bigger and gets a stronger boost from those two special blocks than the project page describes.[1][17]
For the standalone Quantum Core, the project page lists 256M storage and 8 co-processors. This pack's config doesn't show a change to those figures.[1][17]
Unverified The config file's comment for the accelerator threads option is a copy of the multi threader limit comment, so it's unclear exactly what that option controls. Its value of 12 is confirmed, but its effect in-game isn't.
What changed in AdvancedAE between versions?
