What is Forbidden and Arcanus ?

Forbidden and Arcanus adds magical themed content in a style that could fit right into vanilla Minecraft. It also adds a large set of new building blocks. If you want magic that feels like part of the base game, or you're a builder looking for fresh block palettes, this mod is worth a look.[1]
All the Mods 10 4.5 ships version 2.5.17 of the mod. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]
Where it fits in the pack
The pack has its own Forbidden and Arcanus quest chapter to guide you. The early quests have you collect core materials like Darkstone, Rune, Stellarite Piece, Arcane Crystal, Mundabitur Dust and an Aureal Bottle.[3]
- Next come the darkstone builds. One quest asks for polished darkstone, polished darkstone bricks, a Clibano Core and Mundabitur Dust. A larger one adds gilded chiseled polished darkstone, Darkstone Pedestal blocks and a smithing table.[3]
- Metals and souls follow: Deorum Ingot, Obsidiansteel Ingot, the Soul Extractor, Edelwood Log and Dark Matter.[3]

How do you get started with Forbidden and Arcanus ?

Forbidden and Arcanus adds magical content and a lot of new building blocks. In this pack it has its own quest chapter, and following that chapter is the easiest way to learn what to make first. The quests have no titles, so this guide walks through them in order.[1][3]
Step 1: Gather the basic materials
The first set of quests asks for four raw materials: Darkstone in a quest in "?", Rune in a quest in "?", Stellarite Piece in a quest in "?" and Arcane Crystal in a quest in "?". The rest of the early chain is built on these, so collect some of each first.[3]
You get Arcane Crystal by smelting arcane crystal ores. You get Rune by smelting runic stones. Both also work in a blast furnace.[5]

Step 2: Arcane Crystal Dust and Mundabitur Dust
After the Arcane Crystal quest comes a quest in "?", which asks for Arcane Crystal Dust. You can smelt Arcane Crystal into dust, or craft the dust from Arcane Crystal Dust Speck.[3][5]

Step 3: Deorum Ingot
Once you have both dusts, a quest in "?" unlocks and asks for a Deorum Ingot. Deorum is a key material. For example, you need it to craft Arcane Polished Darkstone.[3][5]

Step 4: Darkstone blocks and the Clibano Core
After the Darkstone quest, a quest in "?" asks for 8 Polished Darkstone, 17 Polished Darkstone Bricks, a Clibano Core and a Mundabitur Dust. Once it's done, together with the Artisan Relic quest, you can move on to Obsidiansteel Ingot.[3]

Once you have Darkstone and Deorum, a quest in "?" asks for a big build kit: 48 Polished Darkstone, 9 Gilded Chiseled Polished Darkstone, a Chiseled Arcane Polished Darkstone, 8 Darkstone Pedestal, a smithing table and a Mundabitur Dust. Start stockpiling Polished Darkstone early.[3]

Deorum upgrades
The Deorum Ingot is what turns ordinary building materials into their arcane versions. Polished Darkstone has an arcane counterpart, Arcane Polished Darkstone, and the pack loads the usual shaped variants on top of it: the Arcane Polished Darkstone Pillar, Arcane Polished Darkstone Slab, Arcane Polished Darkstone Stairs and Arcane Polished Darkstone Wall.[5]

Wood works the same way. Arcane Edelwood Planks is the arcane counterpart of Edelwood Planks, and those planks have their own Arcane Edelwood Door and Arcane Edelwood Trapdoor.[5]

You craft the Smithing Template from Darkstone and a vanilla netherite upgrade smithing template. That means you'll need a netherite template before you can make one.[5]

How do you progress through Forbidden and Arcanus ?

Forbidden and Arcanus has its own quest chapter in this pack, and it's your best map through the mod. None of its quests have titles, so this section goes through them by what each one asks you to bring in, along with the in-pack recipes for each step.[3]
Starting out: raw materials
The chapter opens with four quests that all unlock from the same point: a quest in "?" for Darkstone, a quest in "?" for Rune, a quest in "?" for Stellarite Piece and a quest in "?" for Arcane Crystal. Two more quests, a quest in "?" and a quest in "?", ask for Mundabitur Dust and an Aureal Bottle.[3]
