Bibliocraft Legacy is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.6.5. Bibliocraft Legacy is a port of the original BiblioCraft Minecraft mod by Nuchaz. It adds various pieces of decorative and functional furniture into the game. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Bibliocraft Legacy?

2 parts

The Bibliocraft Legacy project page describes the mod as a port and remake of the original BiblioCraft mod by Nuchaz. It adds decorative and functional furniture to the game.[1]

This pack ships Bibliocraft Legacy 1.6.5, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. The project page says the mod currently supports NeoForge for 1.21.1 and upwards. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[1][2]

What you get

  • The project page's current feature list includes furniture with its own use, such as bookcases, shelves, tables, tool racks, display cases, potion shelves, disc racks and sword pedestals.[1]
  • The same list names clocks, lighting and small decor: fancy clocks, grandfather clocks, fancy lamps and lanterns, cookie jars, desk bells and dinner plates.[1]
  • It also lists fancy armor stands, fancy crafters, fancy signs, labels and seats with several types of seat backs.[1]
  • For organization, the current list names big books, clipboards, stockroom catalogs and tape measures.[1]
  • The page says wooden blocks come in all vanilla wood types (11 as of 1.21.1) and use vanilla textures only, so the mod is compatible with most resource packs.[1]

Good to know

The project page says the mod uses vanilla-friendly JSON models instead of the old OBJ 3D models, and it describes the mod as performance and modpack friendly.[1]

The project page's planned features section says not every feature of the original mod is in yet, and the author plans to add pretty much everything. The notable missing features it lists are mapping (Map Frames, Atlases, Drafting Compasses) and painting (Painting Frames, Painting Presses, Painting Canvases), so don't count on those for now.[1]

Unverified The sources show no quests for this mod and no place for it on the ATM Star path, and no in-jar guidebook was found. It looks like a decoration and organization mod rather than a progression step, but that isn't confirmed.

How do you get started with Bibliocraft Legacy?

2 parts

Bibliocraft Legacy is a port of the original BiblioCraft mod. It adds decorative and functional furniture such as bookcases, shelves, tables, clocks, display cases and seats. It runs on NeoForge for 1.21.1 and upwards.[1]

The recipes I can confirm for this pack are the Black Aspen seating and display case set. They come from the Bibliobiomes addon, which adds extra wood types. The recipe dump shows the same set for Baobab, Blue Enchanted, Cika, Cypress and Ebony, and it marks the ones shown as changed by the pack. So the recipe blocks below are the in-pack versions, not mod defaults.[1][3]

What to make first, in order

  1. Start with the Black Aspen Seat. It is the base of the seating line, and the seat backs are separate items you add to it.[1][3]
  2. Make the Black Aspen Flat Seat Back next. The fancy and tall seat backs both use it as an input, so it is the one to craft before them.[3]
  3. If you want a simpler look, the Black Aspen Small Seat Back has a recipe that does not need the flat seat back.[3]
  4. Once you have a flat seat back, upgrade it to the Black Aspen Fancy Seat Back or the Black Aspen Tall Seat Back. The Black Aspen Raised Seat Back has its own separate recipe.[3]
  5. Finish with the Black Aspen Display Case, one of the display pieces the mod adds.[1][3]

Finding your recipes in JEI

The mod has JEI compatibility options that choose whether JEI shows blocks for every wood type and every color, or only the default oak and white. If a variant looks missing in JEI, those options are the first place to look. JEI also tells you when a block can be crafted in all colors and wood types, and when a recipe needs some experience as well.[4]

Tip: Wooden blocks come in all vanilla wood types, and the Bibliowoods and Bibliobiomes addons add support for over 100 wood types from over 20 mods. Pick the wood you already have plenty of, and look up that wood's version of the recipe in JEI.[1][4]

How does Bibliocraft Legacy work?

4 parts

Bibliocraft Legacy is a furniture mod, so it works differently from a tech mod. The sources describe decorative and functional pieces that each have their own use, such as bookcases, fancy crafters, display cases, seats, shelves, tool racks and disc racks. They also list organization items like big books, clipboards, stockroom catalogs and tape measures.[1]

Wood types and colors

Wooden blocks come in all vanilla wood types, 11 as of 1.21.1. Two addon mods, Bibliowoods Legacy and Bibliobiomes Legacy, add support for over 100 wood types from over 20 other mods. All wooden blocks use vanilla textures only.[1]

Many blocks can be crafted in every color, every wood type, or both. The recipe viewer tells you which applies to a block. The items you see here, like Black Aspen Seat, are one wood and color combination of a much bigger family.[1][3][4]

Seats and display cases

Seats come with several seat back styles: small, flat, raised, tall and fancy. A display case is a separate block. The pack changed the recipes for these Aspen versions, along with the matching Baobab and Blue Enchanted ones, so don't assume mod defaults. The black Aspen seat is a good example.[1][3]

Some Bibliocraft recipes also need experience. When the recipe viewer says so, it shows a note that the recipe also requires some experience.[4]

Pack configuration

The pack only sets client-side options. They change what you see in the recipe viewer and in cosmetics, not how blocks behave.[5]

Tip: Because wood types are hidden in JEI here, you will mostly see the oak versions of blocks. Other wood variants still exist. If you can't find one, check whether the wood's mod is supported through the addon mods.[1][5]

What's not in yet

Not every feature of the original BiblioCraft has been ported. The notable gaps are everything related to mapping, such as Map Frames, Atlases and Drafting Compasses, and everything related to painting, such as Painting Frames, Painting Presses and Painting Canvases.[1]

How do you progress through Bibliocraft Legacy?

3 parts

Bibliocraft Legacy has no tech tiers in this pack. Progression here means which pieces you craft first and which ones you build from earlier pieces. The recipes I can see cover the black-dyed furniture made from Biomes We've Gone woods, and the Aspen set is a good example of the pattern.[3]

Every recipe I can see for this mod is marked as changed by the pack. Don't rely on the mod's default recipes, and check the recipe shown in game or on this page before you gather materials.[3]

Tier 1: base pieces

These pieces are crafted straight from raw materials, with no earlier Bibliocraft piece needed. The Black Aspen Small Seat Back is the simplest of them.[3]

Tier 2: upgraded seat backs

The Black Aspen Fancy Seat Back and the Black Aspen Tall Seat Back are the only seat backs I can see that need an earlier piece. Both are crafted from the matching flat seat back plus a slab of the same wood. Make the flat seat back first, then upgrade it.[3]

Quests

Unverified No quests that involve this mod could be confirmed, so there is no quest-driven progression to follow. It is also unverified whether the mod appears anywhere on the main quest path.

How does Bibliocraft Legacy work with other mods?

2 parts

Bibliocraft Legacy gets its modded wood furniture through addon mods: support for over 100 different wood types from over 20 different mods comes from the Bibliowoods Legacy and Bibliobiomes Legacy addons. In this pack, the clearest connection I can confirm is with the wood types from the Biomes We've Gone mod (the biomeswevegone namespace).[1][3]

Biomeswevegone wood furniture

The pack has recipes, under the bibliobiomes namespace, that make black-colored Bibliocraft furniture in biomeswevegone woods. They cover these wood types: aspen, baobab, blue enchanted, cika, cypress, ebony, fir, florus, green enchanted and holly. For example, you can craft the Black Aspen Display Case and the Black Aspen Seat.[3]

Every one of these recipes is flagged as changed by the pack, so don't assume they match what the addon ships by default. Use the recipe cards below, which show the exact in-pack versions.[3]

Seat backs

Seats have several seat back styles for each wood. The flat, raised and small seat backs are crafted directly. The fancy and tall seat backs are upgrades of the flat seat back, so you craft the flat one first and use it to make them. Aspen again shows the pattern: Black Aspen Flat Seat Back leads to Black Aspen Fancy Seat Back and Black Aspen Tall Seat Back.[3]

Tip: The biomeswevegone slab in each recipe has to match the wood of the furniture you want. A Black Cypress Seat needs the cypress slab, for example, and a Black Ebony Seat needs the ebony slab.[3]

For holly, the recipe data I have only covers the Black Holly Display Case, made from the holly slab: Black Holly Display Case.[3]

Unverified No quests in the pack's quest book involve Bibliocraft Legacy, so the sources here show no quest-based integrations to cover.

Which Bibliocraft Legacy config options matter?

2 parts

Bibliocraft Legacy only has a handful of options that matter here, and they all live in the client config file. They cover how many furniture variants show up in JEI and whether pride-themed cosmetics are turned on.[5]

JEI display options

Because of that second setting, you won't see every wood variant listed in JEI. That doesn't mean they're missing. The option only controls what JEI displays. The mod itself offers its wooden blocks in all vanilla wood types.[1][5]

Pride cosmetics

  • cosmetic.enable_pride is set to false in this pack, so the pride-themed cosmetics are off.[5]
  • cosmetic.enable_pride_always is also false. It would extend the pride cosmetics to the whole year instead of only pride month, but it does nothing while the first option is false.[5]
Tip: If you want to see every wood type in JEI, change show_wood_types in the client config. It is a display-only option, so it won't change how the blocks work.[5]

Unverified The sources don't list the mod's own default values for these options, so it's unconfirmed which of the pack's settings differ from the defaults.

What changed in Bibliocraft Legacy between versions?

Bibliocraft Legacy has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, and the current 8.1 release ships version 1.6.5. Here's every version bump the pack changelogs record, oldest first.[2]

  • All the Mods 10 2.32: updated from 1.3.3 to 1.4.1.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 3.2: updated from 1.4.1 to 1.5.4.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 1.5.4 to 1.6.0.[8]
  • All the Mods 10 4.6: updated from 1.6.0 to 1.6.1.[9]
  • All the Mods 10 4.12: updated from 1.6.1 to 1.6.2.[10]
  • All the Mods 10 6.0: updated from 1.6.2 to 1.6.4.[11]
  • All the Mods 10 6.2: updated from 1.6.4 to 1.6.5.[12]

Since 6.2, the pack has stayed on 1.6.5, and the 8.1 mod list shows that exact version.[2][12]

Unverified The sources only record which version the pack moved to, not what changed inside each Bibliocraft Legacy release. There are no stored changelogs for the shipped jars, so new blocks, fixes or recipe changes in these versions can't be confirmed here.
