What is Forbidden and Arcanus ?
1 part
Forbidden and Arcanus adds magic-themed content in a style that could fit right into vanilla Minecraft. If you want magic that feels like part of the base game rather than a separate system bolted on, this is a good mod to explore.[1]
Builders get something too: the mod adds many new building blocks that open up plenty of new decorating options.[1]
This pack includes version 2.5.10 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since release 1.8 or earlier.[2]
Where it fits in the pack
The questbook uses this mod in two chapters. In the first, the opening quest asks for an Arcane Crystal (a quest in "?"). Completing it unlocks two follow-up quests: one for the Smelter Prism (a quest in "?") and one for the Eternal Stella (a quest in "?").[3]
The Allthemodium chapter also has a short line for this mod. It starts with the Hephaestus Forge Tier 1 (a quest in "?") and then leads to another quest for the Eternal Stella (a quest in "?").[4]
Unverified What these quest items do and how they connect to the rest of the pack's progression could not be confirmed from the available sources.
How do you get started with Forbidden and Arcanus ?
4 parts
Forbidden and Arcanus adds magical content in a style that could fit vanilla, plus a lot of new building blocks. In this pack, the quest book gives you a clear place to start, and it all begins with one item.[1][3]
Step one: Arcane Crystal
The quest a quest in "?" asks you to get an Arcane Crystal. It has no prerequisite, and the next quests in that line unlock after it, so this is the item to chase first.[3]
You get Arcane Crystal by processing Arcane Crystal ores. The simplest option is a regular furnace, or a blast furnace if you already have one.[5]

Blasting

Recipe id: forbidden_arcanus:blasting/arcane_crystal_from_blasting
There are other ways to get crystals, including two that this pack added itself:[5]
- The mod's own Clibano Combustion recipe type also turns the ores into Arcane Crystal.[5]
- The pack adds an Ender IO alloy smelting recipe for the ores, so you can process them there too.[5]
- The pack also adds a Theurgy incubation recipe that creates Arcane Crystal from that mod's alchemy materials.[5]
- If you run bees, Productive Bees has a centrifuge recipe that gives Arcane Crystal along with wax.[5]

Arcane Crystal Dust and early crafts
You craft Arcane Crystal Dust from Arcane Crystal Dust Speck. You'll want to keep some dust around, because early items like the Aureal Bottle and Arcane Bone Meal use it.[5]

Your next quest goals
- a quest in "?" asks for a Smelter Prism. It unlocks after the Arcane Crystal quest.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for an Eternal Stella. It also unlocks after the Arcane Crystal quest.[3]
- In another quest line, a quest in "?" asks for Hephaestus Forge Tier 1, and a quest in "?" then asks for an Eternal Stella.[4]
Eternal Stella shows up in both quest lines, so it's worth knowing a bee route: in Productive Bees, the Stellarite Bee produces Eternal Stella in an advanced beehive.[3][4][5]

Unverified The available sources don't show how to make the Smelter Prism or the Hephaestus Forge, or the mod's own way to get Eternal Stella. Check your recipe viewer in game for these. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Handy early crafts
Two more items have regular crafting recipes you can make early: the Clibano Core and the Blacksmith Gavel Head.[5]

How does Forbidden and Arcanus work?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Forbidden and Arcanus adds magical content in a style that fits vanilla, plus a lot of new building blocks. This section covers the crafting chains that can be confirmed for this pack. Every recipe shown here is the mod's own recipe as it's loaded in the pack.[1][6]
Arcane Crystal processing
Arcane Crystal and its dust show up in lots of the mod's recipes, so this is the chain you'll run most often. It covers Arcane Crystal Dust Speck, Arcane Crystal Dust, Arcane Crystal and the Arcane Crystal Block, and the pack's recipes below show each step, including packing crystals into a block and unpacking them again.[6]

Deorum upgrades
The Deorum Ingot is what turns ordinary building materials into their arcane versions. Polished Darkstone has an arcane counterpart, Arcane Polished Darkstone, and the pack loads the usual shaped variants on top of it: the Arcane Polished Darkstone Pillar, Arcane Polished Darkstone Slab, Arcane Polished Darkstone Stairs and Arcane Polished Darkstone Wall.[6]

Wood works the same way. Arcane Edelwood Planks is the arcane counterpart of Edelwood Planks, and those planks have their own Arcane Edelwood Door and Arcane Edelwood Trapdoor.[6]

Smithing templates and dragon items
You craft the Smithing Template from Darkstone and a vanilla netherite upgrade smithing template. That means you'll need a netherite template before you can make one.[6]

Recipe id: forbidden_arcanus:apply_modifier_smithing_template
The mod also has a darkstone upgrade smithing template. Its tooltip says the base slot takes an armor piece, a weapon or a tool.[7]
If you've got a Golden Dragon Scale, you can combine it with a vanilla dragon egg to craft the Arcane Dragon Egg.[6]

The Hephaestus Forge
The mod adds a JEI category called Hephaestus Forge Upgrading. It also has an item called the Reinforced Deorum Blacksmith Gavel. Open that JEI category in-game to see how the forge's upgrades work in this pack.[7]
How do you progress through Forbidden and Arcanus ?
5 parts
This pack doesn't have a big dedicated questline for this mod. Instead, a handful of quests in two chapters point you at the key milestones: Arcane Crystal first, then the Smelter Prism, the Hephaestus Forge and Eternal Stella. This section follows that path and shows the in-pack recipes for each step.[3][4]
What the quests ask for
- In the chapter the quest files call chapter_2_the_star, the entry point is a quest in "?", which asks for Arcane Crystal.[3]
- Completing that quest unlocks two follow-ups in the same chapter: a quest in "?" wants a Smelter Prism, and a quest in "?" wants Eternal Stella.[3]
- In the allthemodium chapter, a quest in "?" asks for Hephaestus Forge Tier 1, and a quest in "?" follows it with another request for Eternal Stella.[4]
Step one: Arcane Crystal
Everything starts with Arcane Crystal. You get it by processing arcane crystal ores, and you have plenty of options: a regular furnace, a blast furnace, or the mod's own Clibano combustion all turn the ore into crystal.[5]
Smelting
- any arcane crystal ore
Recipe id: forbidden_arcanus:smelting/arcane_crystal_from_smelting
The pack adds two extra routes on top of the mod's own. You can run the ore through an Ender IO alloy smelter, or make the crystal through Theurgy incubation. If you're into bees, the Productive Bees centrifuge can also give you Arcane Crystal from honeycomb.[5]
Added by the pack
Once you have crystals, you can pack them into an Arcane Crystal Block for storage and turn the block back into crystal whenever you need it. Arcane Crystal Dust is crafted from Arcane Crystal Dust Speck.[5]
Step two: Deorum
Deorum Ingot is the mod's golden metal, and Arcane Crystal Dust is one of its inputs. Heads up: the pack has changed the Deorum Ingot recipe, so an older video or the mod's default recipe may not match what you see in game. Use the recipe below.[5]

Changed by the pack
Deorum unlocks the fancier building blocks. It goes into Arcane Edelwood Planks and Arcane Polished Darkstone. Arcane Polished Darkstone pillars and slabs then lead to the Darkstone Pedestal.[5]

The Clibano
The Clibano Core is a regular crafting recipe. Clibano combustion is a separate processing method in this mod, and in this pack it is one of the ways to smelt arcane crystal ore.[5]

Recipe id: forbidden_arcanus:clibano_core
Unverified How the Clibano is assembled around its core, and what advantages it has over a normal furnace, is not covered by the available sources.
Hephaestus Forge and Eternal Stella
The Hephaestus Forge Tier 1 is the forge milestone the quests track. Once you have it, the next quest in that chapter asks for Eternal Stella.[4]

Eternal Stella from the Stellarite Bee
Unverified How to obtain or build the Hephaestus Forge, how its higher tiers are unlocked, what the Smelter Prism does, and the mod's own Eternal Stella recipe are not shown in the available sources. Check the recipe viewer in game. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Forbidden and Arcanus work with other mods?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.8 guide
Forbidden and Arcanus isn't just a standalone magic mod in this pack. Two of its signature items feed into the pack's big endgame crafts, the quest book points you toward it more than once, and its woods plug into sawing machines and furniture from other mods. Here's how it all connects.[8][9][10]
Endgame crafting ingredients
The pack adds a recipe for the Oblivion Shard that needs an Eternal Stella. It sits next to items from several other mods, including the Hydra Trophy, Snow Queen Trophy and Ur-Ghast Trophy, and the Piercing Vengeance Focus. If you're heading for the endgame, your Eternal Stella is a must-have.[8]

The Smelter Prism matters too. The pack's Philosopher's Fuel recipe needs one, along with high-end fuel and power items like the Ender Generator, Rainbow Coal and Uranium Quad Fuel Rod.[8]

Quests that use this mod
In the "chapter_2_the_star" quest chapter, you start by getting an Arcane Crystal in a quest in "?". That opens two follow-ups: a quest in "?" asks for a Smelter Prism and a quest in "?" asks for an Eternal Stella. Those are the same two items the endgame recipes above need.[9]
That chapter also has a quest in "?", which asks for a Modular Machinery Reborn controller plus a big pile of darkstone blocks, including Rune Block, Darkstone Pedestal, Arcane Crystal Obelisk, a Quantum Injector and a Magnetized Darkstone Pedestal. Check the quest itself for the exact amounts.[9]
The "allthemodium" chapter covers this mod too. a quest in "?" asks for a Hephaestus Forge Tier 1, and after it a quest in "?" asks for an Eternal Stella.[10]
Sawing the magic woods
The pack adds Mekanism sawing recipes for all three of this mod's woods. Mysterywood logs give Aurum Planks, Edelwood logs give Edelwood Planks and Fungyss stems give Fungyss Planks, each with a side output of Sawdust.[8]
The pack also adds matching Productive Trees sawmill recipes that turn the same logs and stems into Aurum, Edelwood and Fungyss Planks. If you already run a sawmill setup, your Forbidden and Arcanus wood can go straight in.[8]

Bibliocraft furniture
Want to decorate your magic base? Bibliocraft furniture comes in Aurum, Edelwood and Fungyss versions, made with this mod's Aurum Slab, Edelwood Slab and Fungyss Slab. You can make display cases, seats and several kinds of seat back, and the wool you use sets the color, for example black, blue or brown.[8]
- Display cases like the Black Edelwood Display Case use a wood slab, wool and glass.[8]
- Seats like the Blue Fungyss Seat, and flat or raised seat backs, use a wood slab, wool and wooden rods.[8]
- Fancy and tall seat backs are upgrades: you make them from a flat seat back plus another slab of the same wood, as with the Brown Aurum Fancy Seat Back.[8]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Forbidden and Arcanus ?
2 parts
This mod shows up in two quest chapters in the pack: "chapter_2_the_star" and "allthemodium". None of these quests have titles, so each one is identified by the item it asks you to hand in. Here's what each chapter wants and in what order.[3][4]
Chapter: chapter_2_the_star
This chapter has three quests for the mod. a quest in "?" comes first, and the other two unlock only after you finish it.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for an Arcane Crystal.[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Smelter Prism and unlocks after a quest in "?".[3]
- a quest in "?" asks for an Eternal Stella and also unlocks after a quest in "?".[3]
Chapter: allthemodium
This chapter has two quests for the mod, and you do them one after the other.[4]
- a quest in "?" asks for a Hephaestus Forge Tier 1.[4]
- a quest in "?" asks for an Eternal Stella and unlocks after a quest in "?".[4]
Unverified The quest data doesn't say whether handing in an item uses it up, or whether one Eternal Stella can complete both quests. Check in-game before you rely on a single copy.
Which Forbidden and Arcanus config options matter?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Unverified We couldn't confirm any config options or values for Forbidden and Arcanus in All the Mods 10 8.1. The pack's config files for this mod weren't available, so we can't tell you which settings exist, what they're set to, or whether the pack changed anything from the mod's defaults.
If you're trying to change how the mod behaves or you run into a problem, the mod's project page points you to its Discord server for news, feature suggestions and support.[1]
What changed in Forbidden and Arcanus between versions?
4 parts
All the Mods 10 1.27 ships Forbidden and Arcanus 2.5.10. The mod was already in the pack by version 0.56 or earlier. These notes come from the mod's own changelogs. No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so nothing here is a pack-specific change.[2]
2.5.10 (the version in this pack)
- The chance to find an Artisan Relic in village loot chests went up from 18% to 28%.[11]
- Changes to the Hephaestus Forge data cache, which the author says might fix the Hephaestus Forge server issues.[11]
- Unused config options were removed, and the Polished Darkstone Wall now has its pickaxe mineable tag.[11]
2.5.9
- The Aureal Meter overlay now shows when you hold an Aureal Bottle or a Quantum Catcher, and the Spectral Eye Amulet was fixed so it works.[12]
- Removed content: the Lens of Veritatis item, the Sanity Meter item, and the Nipa block and Nipa structure.[12]
- Tags were changed to use the "c" namespace, many missing block and item tags were added, and Aurum Leaves got its missing preferred tool.[12]
2.5.8-beta
- The three Lost Soul variants became separate entities: forbidden_arcanus:lost_soul, forbidden_arcanus:corrupt_lost_soul and forbidden_arcanus:enchanted_lost_soul.[13]
- Lost Souls now always drop a Soul item, however they were killed.[13]
- Fixed a crash when using a Corrupt Arcane Crystal Obelisk in a Hephaestus Forge setup, and fixed higher forge tiers missing the pickaxe mineable tag.[13]
- Fixed the Edelwood Oil to Black Dye recipe overwriting the vanilla Ink Sac to Black Dye recipe.[13]
- The Soulbound item modifier is now limited to armor and tool items, and the Reinforced Deorum Blacksmith Gavel is hidden from the creative tab.[13]
- The forbidden_arcanus:upgrade_tier ritual result type now requires a result_tier field, which matters if you write custom rituals.[13]
2.5.4-beta to 2.5.6-beta
- 2.5.6-beta fixed loot modifiers not working, added the test_tube_blacklisted.json entity tag, and changed Clibano recipes to accept an item stack as the result.[14]
- 2.5.5-beta removed the random chance of a Lost Soul spawning when you kill an entity. The new Soul Looting enchantment grants a 5% chance per level instead.[15]
- 2.5.5-beta also let normal swords damage Lost Souls, fixed the inverted Edelwood Log smelting recipe, added the missing Netherite Blacksmith Gavel recipe, and removed the Dark Nether Star Block.[15]
- 2.5.5-beta limited the Hephaestus Forge main slot to a stack size of 1.[15]
- 2.5.4-beta added back some missing recipes and fixed the untranslated Hephaestus Forge tier tooltip.[16]
