What is Ender IO?
2 parts
Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod. It adds machines, conduits, inventory management, armor, tools, weapons and mobs, so it covers a lot of ground. If you like building a tidy, automated base, this is the mod for moving items, fluids and power around.[1]
This pack ships Ender IO 8.2.11-beta. The mod is being rewritten from the ground up for modern Minecraft, so some older features may not have been ported yet. If you remember Ender IO from an older version, don't assume everything is still there.[1][2]
What you get
- Machines, plus decorative blocks and enchantments.[1]
- Conduits for items, fluids, energy and redstone.[1]
- Conduits that connect to other mods' networks: Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemicals.[1]
- Armor, tools and weapons.[1]
Where you'll meet it in the quests
Ender IO shows up in the quest book mainly as a helper for other mods. In the Apothic Spawners chapter, quest a quest in "Apothic Spawners" introduces the Powered Spawner. You craft it from a Broken Spawner, using a filled Soul Vial to change what it spawns. Then you place it, give it a Capacitor and power it. It can also fill Soul Vials directly, with no Clicker needed.[3]
In the Industrial Foregoing chapter, quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" lists wrenches that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, and the Yeta Wrench is one of the accepted options. The quest author tested them mainly on the Laser Drill, so some wrenches may not work with other machines.[4]
Unverified Where Ender IO sits in the pack's overall progression is not confirmed by the available sources, so treat the quests above as examples of how it's used, not as a fixed progression order.
How do you get started with Ender IO?
5 parts
Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits, tools and more. The order below follows what the in-pack recipes actually ask for: get power sorted first, then build your first machines.[1]
Start with a Basic Capacitor
Make the Basic Capacitor first. Ender IO machines need a capacitor to work: without one they tell you to insert any capacitor, so this is the item you will want in every early machine.[5][6]

This is the in-pack recipe for the Basic Capacitor.
Build a Basic Capacitor Bank
Next comes the Basic Capacitor Bank. Its recipe uses the Basic Capacitor you just made, and the mod has an advancement for building a Capacitor Bank, so it is a nice early milestone.[5][6]
Crafting Shaped

Your first machines
The Alloy Smelter is a good first machine to aim for. The recipe block below shows exactly what the pack wants for it.[5]
Crafting Shaped
| any iron gear | any iron gear | |

Grab a Yeta Wrench
The Yeta Wrench is worth having early. A quest in the pack's Industrial Foregoing chapter lists it among the wrenches that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, which most wrenches cannot do. See a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" for the full list.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any copper ingot | Empty slot | any copper ingot |

A goal for later: the Powered Spawner
Once you are comfortable, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" in the Apothic Spawners chapter walks you through the Powered Spawner. The quest says to pick a Broken Spawner you like and craft the Powered Spawner with it. After placing it, you give it a capacitor and power it. The quest also says this spawner can fill Soul Vial items directly. The recipe is below.[3]

How does Ender IO work?
6 parts
Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits and inventory management. The sources for this pack explain the basics of how these systems fit together, but not every number or every machine. This section covers what can be confirmed and is upfront about the rest.[1]
Machines need a capacitor
Ender IO machines won't run until you install a capacitor in them. The machine GUI tells you to insert any capacitor, and the status tooltip says the same thing. Capacitor tooltips can show four modifiers: energy capacity, energy use, burning energy generation and fuel efficiency.[6]
The simplest one to start with is the Basic Capacitor. Here is its in-pack recipe:[5]

Reading a machine's status
When a machine isn't working, its status tooltip tells you why. These are the states the mod defines:[6]
- Active: the machine is running.[6]
- No capacitor: install one to use the machine.[6]
- No energy: there isn't enough power to use the machine.[6]
- Energy full: the energy storage is full.[6]
- Input empty: there is no item in the input.[6]
- Output full: there isn't enough room for the output.[6]
- Blocked by redstone: a redstone signal is stopping the machine.[6]
- The Drain needs a source block under it to work.[6]
If an automated setup stalls, check this list first. Output full and input empty are the two you'll hit most often when you hook up item automation.[6]
Power
Ender IO's energy tooltip describes its unit of energy as equivalent to FE, so it works with other FE-based mods. For generation, the photovoltaic cell produces power during daylight hours and needs a clear line of sight to the sky.[6]
For storage, you build a capacitor bank. There is even an advancement for building your first one. The Basic Capacitor Bank and Advanced Capacitor Bank each have their own recipe, and there is a separate recipe that upgrades a basic bank to an advanced one.[5][6]

Conduits
Conduits move things between machines. The mod has item, fluid, energy and redstone conduits, plus conduits for Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemicals.[1]
Conduit tooltips show a raw rate per network tick and an effective rate. For fluids the effective rate is in mB/t, and for items it is in items per second. They also show how many network ticks happen per second. A conduit probe can hold copied conduit data. Facades can be hardened, which resists breaking and explosions, or transparent, which hides conduits when painted with a translucent block.[6]
The pack adds its own recipes for the Applied Energistics 2 side. Each one combines a Conduit Binder with an AE2 cable (covered, covered dense or glass) to make an Ender IO conduit.[5]

Filters
Ender IO has several filters for sorting what moves through your setup. They include the Basic Item Filter, Basic Fluid Filter, Basic Soul Filter and Advanced Item Filter. Bigger versions exist too: the Big Item Filter and Big Advanced Item Filter. An unconfigured filter tells you to use it while crouching to configure it.[5][6]
The Redstone AND Filter can be made from a Redstone NAND Filter with a redstone torch.[5]
What isn't confirmed
The SAG Mill's output chance is modified by its grinding ball, as the tooltip says. The pack's own copy of the Ender IO in-game guide only has placeholder entries, so it doesn't explain the mechanics further.[6][7][8][9]
Unverified Exact capacitor values, machine power use, conduit throughput numbers, multiblock layouts and how the obelisks work are not confirmed by the available sources, and no Ender IO config files were provided for this pack.
How do you progress through Ender IO?
5 parts
The quest sources here touch Ender IO in only two places, so the progression below follows what the in-pack recipes show. You move up through capacitors, alloys and chassis-based machines.[3][4][5]
Power tier: capacitors and banks
Your first energy step is the Basic Capacitor. The next tier up is the Double-Layer Capacitor, and the recipe for it takes a Basic Capacitor as its starting point.[5]
Capacitor banks follow the same two steps. The Basic Capacitor Bank is built around a Basic Capacitor, and the Advanced Capacitor Bank is built around a Double-Layer Capacitor. There is also an upgrade recipe that turns a Basic Capacitor Bank into an Advanced one, so you don't have to start over.[5]

Alloy and machine tiers
- Machine basics: the Alloy Smelter, Crafter and Drain are all built on a Void Chassis. That makes the chassis your first real gate for machines.[5]
- Conductive alloy: the Conductive Alloy Ingot shows up in utility gear such as the Conduit Probe and Coordinate Selector. It is also part of the Electromagnet recipe.[5]
- Dark steel: the Dark Steel Ingot is used for the Enchanter and Cold Fire Igniter. It is also used for dark steel building pieces such as Dark Steel Bars and for The Ender, which is named The Ender.[5]
- Vibrant alloy: the Ender energy conduit recipes and the Ender fluid conduit recipe all use vibrant alloy ingots. The Electromagnet needs a vibrant crystal.[5]
- Soul-based machines: the Attractor Obelisk and Aversion Obelisk both use an Ensouled Chassis, soularium and energetic alloy.[5]
- End steel: it has its own ingot, nugget, block, bars and grinding ball recipes, such as End Steel Ingot.[5]
Spawner milestone
The one Ender IO quest with a real goal is a quest in "Apothic Spawners", in the Apothic Spawners chapter. It asks you to make the Powered Spawner. You need a filled Soul Vial and a Broken Spawner. Once you've crafted and placed it, give it a Capacitor and power it. The quest also says this spawner can fill Soul Vials directly, with no Clicker needed.[3]

The recipe list also has a recipe that clears a Powered Spawner back to a blank one, and a soul binding recipe for it.[5]
Pack-specific changes
The pack adds its own recipes for Ender IO conduits that carry AE2 cables. They combine a Conduit Binder with a glass, covered or dense covered cable.[5]

Added by the pack.
The pack also changes the decompress recipes that turn compressed blocks back into Ender IO blocks. This covers the conductive, dark steel, end steel, energetic, pulsating, redstone, soularium and vibrant alloy blocks.[5]
Wrench side quest
Quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" sits in the Industrial Foregoing chapter. It lists wrenches that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, and the Yeta Wrench is one of the accepted ones. The quest notes the tests were done mainly on the Laser Drill, so some wrenches might not work on other machines.[4]

How does Ender IO work with other mods?
7 parts
Ender IO ties into a lot of other mods in this pack, mostly through recipes the pack adds or changes. Here is where its items show up outside the mod itself, plus two quests worth knowing about.[3][4][5]
Mekanism
The pack adds recipes that make Ender IO conduits out of Mekanism parts: the Basic Pressurized Tube, the Advanced Pressurized Tube, the Elite Pressurized Tube and the Advanced Thermodynamic Conductor. There are also upgrade recipes that turn Infused Alloy or Reinforced Alloy into a conduit.[5]

Mystical Agriculture
You can farm Ender IO materials with Mystical Agriculture. The pack changed the essence recipes for the Ender IO alloy ingots, including the ones for Dark Steel Essence, End Steel Essence and Soularium Essence. The conductive, energetic, pulsating, redstone, vibrant and copper alloys are covered too, and so is Grains of Infinity. One example is shown below.[5]

Productive Bees
Productive Bees centrifuge recipes, changed by the pack, give you Ender IO nuggets plus Wax. They cover conductive alloy, dark steel, end steel, energetic alloy, pulsating alloy, redstone alloy, soularium and vibrant alloy. The infinity recipe gives Grains of Infinity and wax instead.[5]
All the Compressed
Ender IO's alloy blocks can be compressed into 1x blocks and decompressed again. Examples are Dark Steel Block 1x, End Steel Block 1x and Soularium Block 1x. The conductive, energetic, pulsating, redstone and vibrant alloy blocks and the copper alloy block get the same treatment. The pack changed these compress and decompress recipes.[5]

Modern Industrialization runic machines
Several recipes the pack adds for the Modern Industrialization runic machines involve Ender IO items, mainly the Z-Logic Controller and the Sentient Ender. The affected outputs include the Runic Star Altar, the Automatic Hephaestus Forge, the Runic Crucible and the Runic Enchanter. The recipe for Runic Attuned Arcane Crystal is one example, shown below.[5]

Added by the pack, made in the Automatic Hephaestus Forge.
The End Steel Ingot is used in three Modularium recipes, one each with an Allthemodium, Unobtainium or Vibranium ingot.[5]
The Runic Enchanter also makes enchanted books from the Dark Steel Ingot, using the inferium, prudentium, tertium and imperium enchanting bases. The Grains of Infinity and the Experience Rod are used with the supremium base. Two more Runic Enchanter recipes take an Broken Spawner and an Soul Vial as inputs and give the same item back as output.[5]
Quests that mention Ender IO
In the Apothic Spawners chapter, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" introduces the Powered Spawner, Ender IO's version of the mob spawner. You need a filled Soul Vial and a Broken Spawner. The quest says that once the spawner is placed, you give it a Capacitor and power it. It can also fill Soul Vials directly, without a Clicker.[3]
In the Industrial Foregoing chapter, a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" lists wrenches that can rotate Industrial Foregoing machines, and the Yeta Wrench is one of them. The author tested mainly on the Laser Drill, so some wrenches may not work on other machines.[4]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Ender IO?
2 parts
Ender IO appears in the Apothic Spawners and Industrial Foregoing chapters in this pack. In the quests the sources show, it is not a full questline. It is a side item in each chapter.[3][4]
Apothic Spawners: EnderIO's Spawner
Quest a quest in "Apothic Spawners" asks you to obtain the Powered Spawner. It unlocks after an earlier quest, so you won't reach it first in the chapter.[3]
The quest text describes the Powered Spawner as the Mob Spawner made using Ender IO. You need a filled Soul Vial and a Broken Spawner. Strictly, the quest says only the Soul Vial is needed to change the spawner's mob.[3]
- Get a filled Soul Vial and a Broken Spawner you like.[3]
- Craft the Powered Spawner using the Broken Spawner.[3]
- Place it down, give it a Capacitor, and power it. Then it starts spawning mobs.[3]
Industrial Foregoing: the wrench quest
Quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing" sits in the Industrial Foregoing chapter and comes after the quest listed as Industrial Foregoing. Its task accepts any of several wrenches, and the Yeta Wrench is among them. The others come from different mods.[4]
The quest author wrote it because most wrenches can't rotate Industrial Foregoing machines. The list covers the wrenches they found that can. They tested mainly on the Laser Drill, so a wrench that works there may not work on other machines.[4]
What changed in Ender IO between versions?
