What is Ender IO?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod that covers a lot of ground in one package: machines, conduits, armor, weapons, tools, enchantments and decorative blocks. If you enjoy tech mods, this one gives you plenty to dig into, from processing machines to the conduits you'll use to move things around your base.[1]

Conduits

Conduits are one of the mod's headline features. These are the types the mod lists:[1]

Ender IO in this pack

All the Mods 10 5.5 ships Ender IO 8.1.1-beta. The mod has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]

Watch out: The version in this pack is a beta, and Ender IO is being rewritten from the ground up for newer Minecraft versions. That means some features from older versions haven't been ported yet. If you remember something from an older pack and can't find it, it may simply not be in this version.[1][2]
Tip: Don't count on the in-game guidebook for help with this mod. In this version it only contains test entries and untranslated placeholder text, so recipe viewers and guides like this one are your better bet.[3][4][5]

Unverified The available sources don't cover where Ender IO fits into this pack's progression.

How do you get started with Ender IO?

2 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with armor, tools, weapons, machines, conduits and inventory management. The recipe dump marks the Ender IO recipes below as added by this pack, so follow these versions rather than what you remember from other setups.[1][6]

Your first crafts, in order

  1. Make a Basic Capacitor first. It is the base of the power parts: the basic capacitor bank and the double layer capacitor both use it.[6]
  2. Turn it into a Basic Capacitor Bank. Later you can move up to the Advanced Capacitor Bank, and the pack has an upgrade recipe that starts from the basic bank and a Double-Layer Capacitor.[6]
  3. Build the Alloy Smelter. In this pack it is a chassis-based machine that needs a dark steel ingot, so it is an early gate to the rest of the mod.[6]
  4. Next, the Crafter. It also starts from a chassis, like the smelter.[6]
  5. Once you have dark steel and a diamond, you can make the Enchanter.[6]

Tip: Dark steel and copper alloy show up in many recipes: the drain, the cold fire igniter, the coordinate selector, and the dark steel tools and building pieces. Keep both in mind when you plan your early alloy production.[6]

Storing your alloys

Alloy ingots can be packed into blocks and unpacked again. For example, Dark Steel Ingot and Dark Steel Block convert both ways with the pack's recipes. The pack also changes its compressed-block recipes so they unpack into the normal Ender IO blocks.[6]

How does Ender IO work?

5 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits, inventory management, armor, tools and weapons. The sources for this pack only cover it at overview level, so this section sticks to what can be confirmed: the conduit types, plus the pack's own recipes for power storage, machines, filters and glass.[1][6]

Conduits

Conduits are how Ender IO moves things around. The project page lists these conduit types: Item, Fluid, Energy, Redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism Chemicals. The page also says Ender IO is being rewritten and that some features have not yet been ported, so treat that list as the mod's own overview rather than a guarantee that every type is available.[1]

The pack adds its own recipes that turn AE2 covered cable, covered dense cable and glass cable into Conduit Bundle, each using a Conduit Binder. Here is the glass cable version. The other two AE2 cable variants have their own recipes with the same output.[6]

Tip: The pack changes the recipes that turn compressed alloy blocks back into normal ones. This covers the conductive, copper, dark steel, end steel, energetic, pulsating, redstone, vibrant and soularium blocks, for example Dark Steel Block. If you store alloys as compressed blocks, you can decompress them with these recipes.[6]

How do you progress through Ender IO?

5 parts

Unverified No quests in this pack are known to involve Ender IO, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path. There is no quest order to follow, so the tiers below are ordered by what the in-pack recipes depend on.

Good news: the Ender IO recipes you'll see here are added by the pack, so check the recipe blocks below instead of relying on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The pattern is a ladder of alloys, and each rung unlocks better machines, conduits and storage.[6]

Tier 1: Capacitors and power storage

Power storage is the clearest ladder. The Basic Capacitor comes first and feeds the Basic Capacitor Bank. Past that, the Double-Layer Capacitor is built from the basic capacitor and an energetic alloy ingot, and it leads to the Advanced Capacitor Bank.[6]

Tier 2: The alloy ladder

Ender IO's progression runs on its alloys. The pack has recipes for storage blocks of each one, and each also has an ingot, nugget and grinding ball recipe. You'll meet these alloys as you go:[6]

Each of these blocks also has a one-step decompress recipe from the pack's compressed-block system, which the pack changed. That means you can unpack a compressed block straight back into the normal block.[6]

Tier 3: Dark steel machines

Dark steel is the gate for your first real machines. The Alloy Smelter needs dark steel, and so does the Enchanter. Dark steel also covers gear and building pieces such as the The Ender, Dark Steel Bars and Dark Steel Door. The Crafter and Drain both use the Void Chassis as their base.[6]

Soul and mob tech

The Aversion Obelisk sits further up the line, because it needs an Enderman Head and an Ensouled Chassis on top of energetic alloy and soularium. In this pack the Enderman Head has a recipe added through Mystical Agriculture essence.[6]

How does Ender IO work with other mods?

5 parts

No quests in the pack involve Ender IO, so its connections to other mods come from recipes. The recipes below were added or changed by the pack.[6]

Mekanism

The pack adds recipes that turn Mekanism transport parts into Ender IO's Conduit Bundle. They cover the basic, advanced and elite pressurized tubes and the advanced thermodynamic conductor, and there are upgrade recipes as well. The recipe blocks below show two of them exactly.[6]

Ender IO's own conduit types include one for Mekanism Chemicals.[1]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Ender IO?

4 parts

Ender IO doesn't have a quest chapter of its own in the pack. The quest book only mentions it inside quests for other mods, so there are no Ender IO items to hand in. Here are the places it comes up, roughly in the order you'll meet them.[7][8][9][10]

Chapter 1: The Beginning

Your first mention is the quest a quest in "Chapter 1: The Beginning", which comes after "Redstone" quest. It's about moving power out of your generators. The quest asks for one of Basic Universal Cable, Energy Pipe or Energy Cable (Basic). The text then adds that this pack has Ender IO, so you can use its Energy Conduits as a throwback.[7]

Chapter 2: Allthemodium

In "Piglich Boss" quest, which follows the Ancient Pyramid quest, the task is to get an Piglich Heart. The text says the heart is needed for alloys and the ATM Star. It suggests looking into ways to farm hearts, such as HNN or Ender IO.[10]

The quest text for 28 of the chapter's 54 quests isn't covered here. If you want to know whether Ender IO comes up in any of those, check the quest book.[10]

Chapter 4: Creative

The biggest Ender IO role is in a quest in "Chapter 4: Creative", which comes after "Runic Enchanter" quest. It asks for Infused Dragon's Breath and an Enchanted Book, both made with the Runic Enchanter. The quest explains that the Experience Rod for Mending Books needs two Ender IO alloys, Soularium and Energetic Alloy, and that both can be made in an Alloy Smelter.[8]

Next in line is "Infused Patrick Star" quest, which comes after that quest. It needs the Mending Books and the Infused Dragon's Breath from the Runic Enchanter.[8]

Basic Logistics

The logistics chapter starts "Laser IO" quest with the Logic Chip. The quest describes LaserIO as DireWolf's continuation of Ender IO's logistics, all about moving items with lasers. Most of the card, filter and node quests in the chapter come after this one, so it's the entry point for everything LaserIO.[9]

What changed in Ender IO between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 4.11 ships Ender IO version 7.1.8-alpha, in the file enderio-7.1.8-alpha.jar. The mod has been part of the pack for a long time: it was first included in All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier.[11]

Updates across pack releases

The pack changelogs record a steady run of small Ender IO version bumps. Here's how the version moved from release to release:[12][13][14]

  • All the Mods 10 2.31 updated Ender IO from 7.1.5-alpha to 7.1.6-alpha.[14]
  • All the Mods 10 2.40 updated Ender IO from 7.1.6-alpha to 7.1.7-alpha.[13]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42 updated Ender IO from 7.1.7-alpha to 7.1.8-alpha, the same version that is still in the pack as of 4.11.[11][12]
Tip: Every Ender IO build listed for the pack carries an alpha tag, including the 7.1.8-alpha version in 4.11. If something behaves oddly, keep in mind you're playing on a pre-release branch of the mod.[11][12][13][14]

Unverified What actually changed inside Ender IO in each of these versions (new features, bug fixes, recipe or balance changes) can't be confirmed here, because no mod changelogs for the shipped jars were available. The pack changelogs only record the version numbers.
