What is L_Ender's Cataclysm?

1 part

Cataclysm adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. You beat the bosses to prove yourself and earn the gear. This pack includes version 3.33 of the mod.[1][2]

The mod is built around bosses. For now, the pack's Cataclysm quest chapter has Eye items that each lead you to a boss's structure. These are the ones the sources confirm:[3]

  • For now, Eye of Flame takes you to the Burning Arena to fight the Ignis.[3]
  • For now, Eye of Abyss takes you to the Sunken City to fight the Leviathan.[3]
  • For now, Eye of Storm takes you to the Acropolis to fight Scylla.[3]
  • For now, Eye of Void takes you to the Ruined Citadel to fight the Ender Guardian.[3]
  • For now, Eye of Mech takes you to the Ancient Factory to fight The Harbinger.[3]
  • For now, Eye of Monstrous takes you to the Soul BlackSmith to fight the Netherite Monstrosity.[3]
  • For now, Eye of Desert takes you to the Cursed Pyramid to fight the Ancient Remnant.[3]
  • For now, Eye of Curse leads you to the Frosted Prison to fight the Maledictus.[3]

There are also smaller, slightly less dangerous structures, currently only ones related to the Cursed Pyramid and Frosted Prison. They hold accessories that spawn only there. Some need you to wear the Belt of Beginner before you can equip them. See the quest "New Accessories" quest.[3]

Where it fits on the ATM Star path

Cataclysm is part of the ATM Star path. The Star chapter has four Cataclysm quests, all unlocked after the Cataclysm chapter: "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest, "Meat Shredder" quest, "Gauntlet of Maelstrom" quest and "Void Forge" quest.[4]

Tip: The Harbinger sits powered down in the Ancient Factory underground in the Overworld. You have to feed it a Nether Star to power it up before the fight. Its Witherite crafts the Mechanical Fusion Anvil, which you need for both the Gauntlet of Maelstrom and the Void Forge, so it's the first boss to plan for.[4]

How do you get started with L_Ender's Cataclysm?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

L_Ender's Cataclysm adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. Your early game is about gearing up, finding the bosses' structures and beating them for their gear.[1]

Step 1: Craft a Belt of Beginner

Start with a Belt of Beginner. Cataclysm now has smaller, slightly less dangerous structures related to the Cursed Pyramid and the Frosted Prison, and they hold accessories that only spawn there. Some of those accessories go in normal accessory slots, but others need you to wear this Belt before you can equip them. The pack changed the Belt's recipe, so use the version below. The Belt is also the task for the "New Accessories" quest quest.[5][6]

Step 2: Craft an Eye to find a boss

Each boss has its own structure, and the Eyes take you there. Craft the Eye for the boss you want to fight and it will lead you to that boss's home. Here's where each one goes:[5]

Watch out: The pack changed the recipes for the Eye of Mech, Eye of Curse, Eye of Desert and Eye of Storm, so recipes you remember from other packs won't work for these. Use the in-pack versions below.[6]

Step 3: Prepare the summoning item

Reaching the arena isn't always enough. Several bosses need a specific item or step before the fight starts, so sort these out before you head over.[5]

  • Ignis: first fight the Ignited Revenant to get Burning Ashes, then use them on the Altar of Fire to summon the Ignis.[5]
  • Ancient Remnant: bring a Brush. The giant shaft down to the Remnant has 3 side rooms, and 2 of them contain Suspicious Sand that can give you the Necklace of the desert. Right-click the Remnant with the Necklace to resurrect it.[5]
  • Leviathan: you need an Abyssal Sacrifice. It has two recipe versions, and the pack changed both.[5][6]
  • Maledictus: the Door of Seal blocks the way, and you need a Strange Key to open it. The Aptrgangr in the Frosted Prison carry the key.[5]

Early gear worth picking up

The Unbreakable Skull is very helpful against bosses. Some hits stun you, so you can't move or fight back, and the Skull protects you from that once per cooldown. In the quest book it comes after the Occupied Village, Desert Temple and Desert Site.[5]

Koboletons drop the Khopesh. It does the same damage as an Iron Sword, but you can't enchant or repair it, so treat it as a stopgap.[5]

Bone Reptile Armor gives very good stats for cheap armor, though it doesn't appear to do anything special. It's made from Koboleton Bones and Ancient Metal, and the Helmet also needs a Kobolediator Skull.[5]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work?

5 parts

Cataclysm is built around dungeons, boss fights and powerful gear. What the sources show about its systems is a handful of special crafting types, some stone processing, and many pack changes to boss and weapon ability values.[1][7][8]

Weapon fusion

The recipe for Brontes uses the mod's own weapon fusion recipe type instead of normal crafting. It combines Astrape and Infernal Forge into the new weapon.[7]

Smithing and blessing

Cursium Boots are a smithing transform upgrade. You start from a pair of netherite boots, and the smithing template comes from a recipe the pack changed.[7]

Amethyst Crab Meat can be turned into Blessed Amethyst Crab Meat through the mod's amethyst blessing recipe type. This recipe has just the one input.[7]

Recipe id: cataclysm:amethyst_bless/blessed_amethyst_crab_meat

Stone processing

The mod's building blocks lean heavily on the stonecutter. The recipe dump counts 40 stonecutting recipes that take Cataclysm items and make Cataclysm items. Two examples are Azure Seastone Brick Slab, which gives 2 slabs per craft, and Polished Obsidian Slab, which also gives 2.[7]

The pack also adds Create compatibility. Create cutting turns Chorus Planks into Chorus Fence, and sandpaper polishing turns Azure Seastone into Polished Azure Seastone.[7]

Ability cooldowns

The pack cuts many weapon ability cooldowns well below the mod defaults. For example, tools_and_abilities.infernal_forge.infernal_forge_cooldown is 20 here (mod default 80), and tools_and_abilities.gauntlet_of_maelstrom.maelstrom_cooldown is 45 (mod default 180).[8]

Other cooldown changes follow the same pattern. tools_and_abilities.sandstorm.sandstorm_cooldown is 75 (default 300), and tools_and_abilities.void_forge.void_forge_cooldown is 30 (default 100). tools_and_abilities.astrape.astrape_cooldown was left at its default of 60.[8]

Watch out: The pack raised blocks.cursed_tombstone.cursed_tombstone_cooldown to 15, up from a mod default of 1.[8]

Boss behaviour settings

Every boss has a damage cap, a DPS cap and a range cap, all set in the Cataclysm common config. The pack raised most of them. mobs.leviathan.cap_config.damage_cap is 80 (default 20), and mobs.netherite_monstrosity.cap_config.damage_cap is 180 (default 25). The DPS limit time is 20 for each boss that lists it.[8]

Several bosses, including the Ender Guardian, Harbinger, Scylla and Netherite Monstrosity, have their respawner option set to true. Health and attack multipliers are scaled up per mob as well, for example mobs.scylla.combat_config.health_multiplier at 22.2.[8]

How do you progress through L_Ender's Cataclysm?

7 parts

The pack's Cataclysm quest chapter is your roadmap. The quest book has an Eye for each boss structure, and many key items come from boss drops that unlock further quests. The path below follows those quest dependencies and the in-pack recipes.[3]

Before you start, grab the Belt of Beginner from "New Accessories" quest. The quest says the newer, smaller Cataclysm structures (for now only ones related to the Cursed Pyramid and Frosted Prison) have accessories that only spawn there. Some of those accessories need you to wear this belt to equip them. The pack changed the belt's recipe.[3][7]

Step 1: Craft the Eyes

Each Eye quest comes after the quest named "Eye see you!". Here is where each Eye leads, according to its quest:[3]

The pack changed the recipes for the Eye of Desert, Eye of Curse, Eye of Mech and Eye of Storm. The Eyes of Abyss, Flame, Void and Monstrous are listed as unchanged mod recipes.[7]

Cursed Pyramid: Ancient Metal

The quest says Ancient Metal drops from pretty much everything in the Cursed Pyramid, and "Ancient Metal" quest opens up the early gear. It crafts to and from nuggets and blocks. It feeds the Ancient Spear, which the quest says outdamages a Netherite Sword, and the Bone Reptile armor, which the quest describes as cheap with good stats but no special effects.[3][7]

To wake the Ancient Remnant, use the Necklace of the desert. The quest says you find it by brushing Suspicious Sand in the side rooms of the big shaft. The Remnant drops the Remnant's Skull, which gives you a pet, and the Sandstorm in a Bottle quest follows the Ancient Remnant too.[3]

Sunken City: the Leviathan

"Abyssal Sacrifice" quest covers the Abyssal Sacrifice, which the quest says you need to fight the Leviathan. The pack changed this recipe and there are two variants, one with Crystallized Coral and one with Coral Chunk. Both are shown below. The Leviathan drops Tidal Claws and the Abyssal Egg.[3][7]

Burning Arena: Ignitium

You summon the Ignis with Burning Ashes on the Altar of Fire. The quest says you must beat the Ignited Revenant first to get the ashes. It also says the Ignis drops only 1 Ignitium Ingot, so spend it wisely. Ignitium unlocks the The Incinerator, the Bulwark of the Flame and Blazing Grips, plus armor upgraded from Netherite armor.[3][7]

The other Ignitium armor pieces use the same smithing setup with their Netherite counterparts.

The Ignitium Elytra Chestplate is made by fusing the Ignitium Chestplate with an Elytra, which uses the Mechanical Fusion Anvil covered below.[7]

Frosted Prison: Cursium and Black Steel

The quest says the Door of Seal guarding the Maledictus needs a Strange Key, and only the Aptrgangr carry one ("Strange Key" quest). The Cursium Ingot quest comes after the Maledictus, and it in turn unlocks "The Annihilator" quest and "Soul Render" quest. Cursium armor is also a smithing upgrade from Netherite armor.[3][7]

Ancient Factory: Witherite and the Fusion Anvil

The quest says The Harbinger always drops 1 Witherite block, which makes 9 ingots ("Wither plus Netherite = ...?" quest). Witherite gets you three weapons: the Meat Shredder, the Laser Gatling and the Wither Assault Shoulder Weapon. It also gets you the Mechanical Fusion Anvil. Remaining bosses

According to the quests, the Ender Guardian drops the Gauntlet of Guard. The Ender Golem drops the Void Core, which can be used in other Cataclysm crafts. Scylla leads to Astrape and Ceraunus. The Netherite Monstrosity drops the Infernal Forge, which is a pickaxe, and leads to the Monstrous Helm.[3][7]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work with other mods?

3 parts

Cataclysm connects to the rest of the pack mainly through the pack's own crafting for two top-tier items. Both recipes were added by the pack and mix Cataclysm items with items from other mods. The quests also tie one Cataclysm tool to Allthemodium mining.[3][7]

Dragon Soul

The Dragon Soul recipe is a shaped recipe added by the pack, and the Abyssal Sacrifice is its link to Cataclysm. Other mods show up here through Block of Piglich Hearts, Infused Dragon's Breath, Chain of Souls, Soul Gem, Dragon Familiar Spawn Egg and Socotra Dragon Sapling. The recipe below shows the exact layout.[7]

The Cataclysm quest chapter describes the Abyssal Sacrifice as the item you need to fight The Leviathan, and it has its own quest there, so that is the place to look for how to get it.[3]

Oblivion Shard

The Oblivion Shard recipe is also a shaped recipe added by the pack. Cataclysm's side of it is Gauntlet of Maelstrom, Meat Shredder and Void Forge. Other mods show up through Eternal Stella, Zygarde Cube and Module Galgadorian Drill. The recipe below shows the exact layout.[7]

The Gauntlet of Maelstrom also has its own quest in The ATM Star chapter, so you will run into it there as well.[4]

Mining Allthemodium

The Infernal Forge drops from the Netherite Monstrosity. The quest describes it as technically a pickaxe that can mine up to Netherite tier, so it can mine Allthemodium Ore. Right-clicking makes it attack in an area, and it can take both sword and pickaxe enchantments.[3]

Tip: If you are heading for Dragon Soul or Oblivion Shard, remember that both pack recipes consume Cataclysm items, so it pays to check the Cataclysm quest chapter early for how to get them.[3][7]

Which All the Mons quests use L_Ender's Cataclysm?

4 parts

Everything for this mod that the sources confirm sits in one quest chapter called "Cataclysm". Each quest there has an item task, and the order comes from each quest's prerequisites, so here is the chapter in the order it unlocks.[3]

Starting out: accessories and the Eyes

"New Accessories" quest asks for the Belt of Beginner. It explains that the newer, smaller structures are, for now, only the ones related to the Cursed Pyramid and Frosted Prison. These structures hold accessory items, and some of them only work while you wear the Belt.[3]

The boss-locating Eye quests all unlock after a quest called "Eye see you!". Each one asks for one Eye and points you to a structure and boss:[3]

Summoning items and accessories

Some quests cover the items you need to wake a boss. "Necklace of the desert" quest wants the Necklace of the desert, which you brush out of Suspicious Sand in the Cursed Pyramid shaft. "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest wants the Abyssal Sacrifice for the Leviathan. "Burning Ashes" quest wants Burning Ashes for the Ignis. "Strange Key" quest wants the Strange Key, which the quest says was given to the Aptrgangr.[3]

Two accessory groups unlock from structure quests. "Sturdy Boots" quest (Sturdy Boots), "Berserker Soul Amulet" quest (Berserker Soul Amulet) and "Ring of Grudged" quest (Ring of Grudged) come after the Abandoned Spire, Abandoned Village and Abandoned Temple quests. "Vitality Ankh" quest (Vitality Ankh) and "Unbreakable Skull" quest (Unbreakable Skull) come after the Occupied Village, Desert Temple and Desert Site quests.[3]

Boss drops and crafted gear

Fusion quests

Once you have the Mechanical Fusion Anvil from "Mechanical Fusion Anvil" quest, the fusion quests open up. They ask for "Brontes" quest, "Void Forge" quest, "Gauntlet of Bulwark" quest, "Gauntlet of Maelstorm" quest, "Wrath of the Desert" quest, "The Immolator" quest and "V.A.S.W. (Void Assault Shoulder Weapon)" quest. Each one also needs other quests done first, such as a boss weapon or drop to fuse, so the Anvil is not the only gate.[3]

Which L_Ender's Cataclysm config options matter?

4 parts

Nearly everything worth tweaking for Cataclysm lives in config/cataclysm-common.toml, and this pack has changed a lot of it. The pack makes the bosses much tougher and the boss weapons much quicker to reuse. Here are the groups you'll care about most, with the pack's value and the mod default side by side.[8]

Boss health and attack multipliers

Every boss multiplier is 1 in the mod by default. The pack raises them, so bosses hit harder and take longer to kill than you'd expect from the base mod.[8]

Damage caps and ranges

Bosses also have per-hit and damage-per-second caps, and the pack raised them well above the defaults. Here are a few of the biggest jumps.[8]

Several range caps went up too. Leviathan's mobs.leviathan.cap_config.range_cap is 72 (default 38) and Harbinger's mobs.harbinger.cap_config.range_cap is 64 (default 35).[8]

Watch out: On top of the multipliers above, Leviathan's mobs.leviathan.bite_hp_damage is 0.4 in this pack against a mod default of 0.1. Prepare properly before you take on the bigger bosses.[8]

Weapon and ability cooldowns

The pack cuts the cooldowns on a lot of the boss gear well below the mod default. The file doesn't state the unit, so compare these as raw numbers.[8]

The blocks.cursed_tombstone.cursed_tombstone_cooldown option goes the other way: it is 15 in this pack, up from a default of 1, with an allowed range of 0 to 30.[8]

Boss behavior toggles

The file sets mobs.ignis.separate_phase_music to true for Ignis, and the same option is true for Leviathan and Ender Guardian. mobs.leviathan.immune_out_of_water is true. The boss respawner options, such as mobs.scylla.respawner_config.respawner, are also true. The mob griefing option is true for most bosses, including Scylla, but false for the Clawdian, Ender Golem and Kobolediator.[8]
