What is KubeJS?

1 part

KubeJS is part of the pack as the NeoForge build of the mod. The sources here don't describe what the mod does in general, so this page sticks to what you can see from it: a set of custom items under the kubejs namespace that the quest book uses.[1]

Where the quest book places it

In the Mystical Agriculture chapter, the Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium seed quests each have a task for Magical Soil. Each quest says its seeds need Magical Soil placed below them in order to grow. All three are Magical tier and come after Insanium Farmland and the Infusion Altar. See a quest in "Mystical Agriculture", a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture".[2]

In the Extended & Advanced AE chapter, "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest is described as "The Sink but in cell form". It accepts any one of a long list of infinity cells, including KubeJS ones like Lava Cell, Dirt Cell, Sand Cell, End Stone Cell and Sky Stone Cell. There are also the colour cells White Cell and Black Cell. The ExtendedAE water and cobblestone infinity cells count too. The quest text says these cells give a limitless supply of one resource, and the quest comes after another quest in the same chapter.[3]

In the Hostile Neural Networks chapter, a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" has Generalized Starlight Prediction as its task. It is described as making various Starlight Materials, and it comes after the Simulating Deaths quest.[4]

Unverified Whether KubeJS is on the ATM Star quest path is not shown by the sources here. Check the quest chapters in the pack's quest book to see which quests use it.

How do you get started with KubeJS?

4 parts

KubeJS isn't a mod you play with directly. This pack uses it to add its own custom items and recipes, and those are what you'll run into. The sources here don't lay out a full start-to-finish order for the pack, so this section covers the custom items they do confirm and which ones depend on each other.[5]

Infinity Cells for bulk resources

The quest "More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest describes these as the Sink but in cell form. ExtendedAE has its own Infinity Cells that give a limitless supply of one resource, and the pack adds many more through KubeJS, such as Lava Cell, Dirt Cell and Moss Cell. Any one of them counts for the quest.[3][5]

These cell recipes are added by the pack, so go by the recipe blocks here and not by what you remember from other packs. Two of them build on each other: Gravel Cell is made from an ExtendedAE Infinity Cobblestone Cell, and Sand Cell is then made from the Gravel Cell. Make them in this order:[5]

This one takes an Infinity Cobblestone Cell, so it comes first.

This one takes the Gravel Cell from the previous recipe.

For a look at one of the other cells, here is the Dirt Cell.[5]

Magical Soil for the top-tier seeds

Magical Soil is a pack-added item. Three Mystical Agriculture quests tell you that Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium seeds need it placed below them in order to grow. They are a quest in "Mystical Agriculture", a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture", and all three come after Insanium Farmland and the Infusion Altar, so plan around those two first.[2]

Starlight materials

Generalized Starlight Prediction is the item for the Hostile Neural Networks quest a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks", which makes various Starlight Materials. That quest comes after "Simulating Deaths", so finish that one first.[4]

Mekanism build help

The pack also adds Ponder scenes for several Mekanism multiblocks: the Fission Reactor, Fusion Reactor, Induction Matrix, SPS and Industrial Turbine. They cover details such as casing rules and port placement, so check them before you build one.[6]

How does KubeJS work?

7 parts

KubeJS doesn't add machines of its own in this pack. What it does is carry the pack's Ponder scenes, which are in-game walkthroughs for the big Mekanism multiblocks. It also adds a set of custom Mekanism processing recipes. This section covers both, as far as the sources explain them.[5][6]

Fission reactor

The edges of a Mekanism fission reactor must be casings. The walls can be either casings or glass. Inside, you stack Fission Fuel Assembly blocks to make fuel rods, then put a Control Rod Assembly on top of each rod. Control Rod Assembly blocks sit 1 block from the ceiling.[6]

  • Fuel rods cannot touch each other. If you build several, a checkerboard pattern works best.[6]
  • A reactor needs at least 4 ports. You can change a port's mode with a Configurator, for example to output heated coolant.[6]
  • Logic Adapters give you redstone control. Right-click one to open its settings.[6]

With two Logic Adapters you can build a fail-safe. Set one to Activation and the other to Damage Critical. When the reactor reaches critical damage it gives off a redstone signal. The scene uses that signal to power a piston carrying gravel or sand, which triggers an Observer and turns the reactor off.[6]

Fusion reactor

The fusion reactor can generate millions of RF per tick. You build it using a set pattern for each face, and the controller goes in the middle of the top face. You need a port for exporting power and two ports for inputting deuterium. Ports can be changed with a Configurator.[6]

To start it up you need three things:[6]

  • A Hohlraum filled with D-T fuel in the controller.[6]
  • 400MRF shot into the Laser Matrix with lasers. The Laser Amplifier must have its red face pointing towards the Matrix.[6]
  • Fuel for the reactor itself. It mixes D-T fuel at a set rate when the two are pumped in separately.[6]

Induction matrix

The Induction Matrix stores a lot of power. Its edges must be casings, and its faces can be casings or structural glass. Ports transfer power and can be changed with a Configurator.[6]

Induction Cells increase storage and Induction Providers increase the transfer rate. The matrix must have at least one cell and one provider.[6]

Supercritical Phase Shifter (SPS)

The SPS converts polonium into antimatter gas, and it uses a large amount of power to do it. You build it with a set pattern for each face. On one side you put a port in the middle to input power, and on the inside you place a Supercharged Coil on that port. For maximum power usage you can use two Supercharged Coils.[6]

You also need one port for inputting polonium and another for exporting antimatter gas. As with the other multiblocks, ports can be changed with a Configurator.[6]

Industrial turbine

The Industrial Turbine turns heated coolant into power. The edges must be Turbine Casings. The faces can be Turbine Casings, structural glass, valves or vents. Turbine Valves pump in steam or export power.[6]

  1. Place the Turbine Rotors in the middle. Each Rotor uses 2 Turbine Blades.[6]
  2. Put a Rotational Complex on top of the Turbine Rotor.[6]
  3. Fill the layer around the Rotational Complex with Pressure Dispersers.[6]
  4. From that layer up, you can use Turbine Vents on the outer faces. They also export water from the turbine.[6]
  5. Place Electromagnetic Coils on top of the Rotational Complex.[6]

Saturating Condensers convert steam back into water. They're optional, but they must be placed on or above the Coil layer. If you need to, the top face can be replaced with Turbine Vents.[6]

Custom ore processing chains

The pack adds its own Mekanism processing chains for two materials, Azure Silver and Crimson Iron. They follow the usual Mekanism ore-processing steps, but the recipes are the pack's own, so check them in-game rather than assuming Mekanism defaults.[5]

A purifying recipe turns ores, raw materials, raw blocks or shards into a Azure Silver Clump. A crushing recipe then turns clumps into Dirty Azure Silver Dust. Here is the clump recipe starting from a raw ore:[5]

Crushing (mekanism)

Azure Silver also has a slurry route. Dissolution recipes turn ore, raw material or raw blocks into dirty slurry, and a washing recipe cleans it. A crystallizing recipe then makes an Azure Silver Crystal. Finally, an injecting recipe turns the crystal into an Azure Silver Shard. Injecting recipes can also make a shard directly from ore, raw material or raw blocks.[5]

Unverified The recipe list available for this guide is cut off, so the Crimson Iron slurry (dissolution and washing) recipes could not be confirmed. Check them in-game or in a recipe viewer. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

A KubeJS-only crafting recipe

The pack also adds a shaped recipe for Magical Soil through KubeJS. It's a pack recipe with very high-end ingredients, so here is the exact in-pack version.[5]

Unverified No guidebook, documentation or config files were available for KubeJS in this pack, so how the pack's scripts are written or edited isn't covered here.

How do you progress through KubeJS?

4 parts

This mod doesn't have a tier ladder of its own in the pack. What it does have is a set of pack-added items that show up in other chapters of the quest book. Here's where each one fits.[2][3][4]

Magical Soil and the Magical tier

Magical Soil is the item behind a group of quests in the Mystical Agriculture chapter, each labelled Tier: Magical: a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" for Allthemodium Seeds, a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" for Vibranium Seeds and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" for Unobtainium Seeds. Each of those seeds needs Magical Soil placed below it in order to grow.[2]

These quests come after Insanium Farmland and the Infusion Altar, so those are the steps to finish first.[2]

The pack gives you two ways to get Magical Soil: a shaped crafting recipe and an infusion recipe. Both are added by the pack.[5]

Infinity Cells for AE

"More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest (More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells) sits in the Extended & Advanced AE chapter and comes after quest 1E535784A9D3DE89. ExtendedAE brings in Infinity Cells, which give you a limitless supply of one resource. The quest accepts any one of the ExtendedAE infinity water or cobblestone cells, or any of the pack's own cells from this mod.[3]

The pack's own cells cover a wide range: Lava Cell, Dirt Cell, Moss Cell, stone variants like Andesite Cell, Diorite Cell, Granite Cell and Tuff Cell, plus sand, nether and end blocks, Sky Stone Cell, Ancient Stone Cell, and the concrete-colour cells White Cell, Light Gray Cell, Gray Cell and Black Cell.[3][5]

Gravel and sand form a short chain worth building in order: the Sand Cell recipe uses the Gravel Cell, and the Gravel Cell recipe uses an ExtendedAE infinity cobblestone cell.[5]

Step two, which takes the Gravel Cell.

An example of how the other cells are crafted, also added by the pack.

Azure Silver processing

The pack adds a Mekanism processing line for Azure Silver. Here's how the stages connect:[5]

  1. Purify Azure Silver ore, raw ore, a raw block or a shard to get Azure Silver Clump.[5]
  2. Crush a clump into Dirty Azure Silver Dust.[5]
  3. Crystallize clean Azure Silver slurry into Azure Silver Crystal.[5]
  4. Inject a crystal to get Azure Silver Shard. Ore can also be injected straight into a shard.[5]

Starlight Prediction

a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" in the Hostile Neural Networks chapter asks for Generalized Starlight Prediction, which the quest describes as making various Starlight Materials. It comes after the Simulating Deaths quest.[4]

How does KubeJS work with other mods?

6 parts

In this pack, KubeJS mostly shows up through custom items and recipes added by the pack's scripts. Those items sit in the kubejs namespace and are wired into other mods' machines. Here are the connections that the pack's recipes and quests confirm.[5]

Applied Energistics 2 and its add-ons

The big one is the Inscriber Universal Press. The pack uses it in inscriber recipes that make printed circuits from several mods: Applied Energistics 2 (Printed Silicon, Printed Calculation Circuit, Printed Engineering Circuit, Printed Logic Circuit), Extended AE (Printed Concurrent Circuit), MEGA Cells (Printed Accumulation Circuit), Applied Flux (Printed Energy Circuit) and Advanced AE (Printed Quantum Circuit).[5]

Infinity cells

The pack also adds a family of KubeJS cells, such as the Dirt Cell, Andesite Cell and End Stone Cell. Their recipes combine items from Applied Energistics 2, MEGA Cells, All the Modium and AllTheCompressed with vanilla items. The Extended & Advanced AE questline has a quest about them, which describes the Infinity Cell as a limitless supply of one resource.[3][5]

One example from the cell family, added by the pack.

Mystical Agriculture and Immersive Engineering

Magical Soil is a pack-made item that ties several mods together. Its shaped recipe pulls from AllTheCompressed, All the Modium, Mystical Agradditions, Mystical Agriculture and Productive Trees.[5]

Mystical Agriculture quests cover it: a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" for Allthemodium, a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" for Vibranium and a quest in "Mystical Agriculture" for Unobtainium. Each says the seeds need Magical Soil placed below them to grow. The pack also adds Immersive Engineering cloche recipes for these seeds that use the soil, turning them into their essences.[2][5]

Mekanism ore processing

Azure silver and crimson iron are handled by Mekanism machines through recipes added by the pack. Purifying with Liquid Oxygen gives Azure Silver Clump or Crimson Iron Clump. Injecting with Liquid Hydrogen Chloride gives Azure Silver Shard or Crimson Iron Shard. Dissolving with Liquid Sulfuric Acid makes dirty slurries for both metals.[5]

Ars Nouveau and All the Modium

The pack adds KubeJS essence blocks for Ars Nouveau's air, earth, fire and water essences, for example Fire Essence Block. Each block has a recipe to compress the essence and another to turn it back, such as into Fire Essence. All of these blocks are then used in an Enchanting Apparatus recipe that makes the Block of Unobtainium - Allthemodium Alloy.[5]

Eternal Starlight

Generalized Starlight Prediction is used in shapeless recipes for Eternal Starlight materials, including Abyssal Fruit, Cobbled Grimstone and the blue starlight crystals. A quest in the Hostile Neural Networks chapter, a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks", describes it as making various Starlight Materials.[4][5]

Which All the Mons quests use KubeJS?

3 parts

The KubeJS items in this pack show up in three quest chapters: Mystical Agriculture, Extended & Advanced AE, and Hostile Neural Networks. The sources only tell me which quest comes before which, not the overall order you'll meet the chapters in, so I've grouped them by chapter.[2][3][4]

Mystical Agriculture

This chapter has a group of Magical-tier quests that all work the same way. Each one asks you to hold a seed and Magical Soil. The quest text explains that the seeds only grow with Magical Soil placed below them. They all unlock after the Insanium Farmland and Infusion Altar quests.[2]

Tip: Don't plant Allthemodium, Vibranium or Unobtainium seeds on plain farmland. According to the quests, they need Magical Soil placed below them to grow.[2]

Extended & Advanced AE

"More Resources than you ever need: Infinity Cells" quest is described as "The Sink but in cell form". The quest text explains that ExtendedAE adds Infinity Cells, which give a limitless supply of one resource. It comes after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[3]

The task accepts any one of a long list of cells. The KubeJS ones are Lava Cell, Dirt Cell, Moss Cell, Andesite Cell, Diorite Cell, Granite Cell, Tuff Cell, Gravel Cell, Sand Cell, Red Sand Cell, End Stone Cell, Netherrack Cell, Clay Cell, Blackstone Cell, Basalt Cell, Calcite Cell, Cobbled Deepslate Cell, Soul Sand Cell, Sky Stone Cell, Ancient Stone Cell, White Cell, Light Gray Cell, Gray Cell and Black Cell. The ExtendedAE cells Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell count too.[3]

Hostile Neural Networks

a quest in "Hostile Neural Networks" is described as making various Starlight Materials. It asks for Generalized Starlight Prediction and unlocks after the Simulating Deaths quest.[4]
