What is Modern Industrialization?
2 parts
Modern Industrialization is a standalone tech mod about total automation: the idea is that any resource can, and should, end up automated. The pack ships version 2.5.6. It is inspired by GregTech but drops the tedious parts. You get a pipe system that lets you automate very early, and a quarry early on that can remove your need to mine by hand.[1][2][3]
It also skips a huge ladder of machine tiers. Instead, an overclock system lets machines and multiblocks reach 1 craft per tick, as long as you have enough upgrades and energy.[1]
Two stages of progression
The Steam Age comes first. You build your first factories to produce the resources for the second stage, and the challenge is resource management and processing time. Most of these setups become obsolete once you leave the Steam Age, so don't over-invest in them.[3]
Then comes the Electric Age, where you are encouraged to automate every processing line. These setups are meant to be permanent because you can keep upgrading them. Regular electric machines overclock up to 32 EU/t, and electric multiblocks up to 128 EU/t, before you add upgrades.[3][4]
Where it fits in this pack
The pack has a dedicated Modern Industrialization quest chapter that walks you through this progression. It starts at "The Start of Modern Industrialization" quest with the Forge Hammer, then moves on to the Steam Mining Drill in "A Superior Tool" quest.[5]
Later quests cover the steam-to-electric jump, starting with the LV Steam Turbine in "LV Steam Turbine" quest. After that come the Electric Blast Furnace in "Electric Blast Furnace" quest and Industrial Aluminum Ingot in "Industrial Aluminum Ingot" quest. Some circuit quests also accept a Mekanism control circuit as an alternative to the matching Modern Industrialization circuit.[5]
How do you get started with Modern Industrialization?
4 parts
Welcome to the start of the Modern Industrialization journey! The mod splits progression into the Steam Age and the Electric Age. You begin in the Steam Age, where you build the first factories that produce what the Electric Age needs. Most of those early setups become obsolete later, so don't sink too much effort into making them perfect.[3]
Step 1: The Forge Hammer
Everything starts with the Forge Hammer. Craft it before you make bronze. It handles the basic processing steps: put iron, copper or tin ore in it and you get 2 raw ores per ore, and every raw ore can then be smelted into an ingot. This is the first quest of the chapter, "The Start of Modern Industrialization" quest, and the next quests in the chapter build on it.[5][6][7]
Step 2: The Steam Mining Drill
Next, make a Steam Mining Drill. It mines 3x3 blocks at a time and has Silk Touch, so you get ores directly without needing a Silk Touch pickaxe. Silk Touch also combines well with the Forge Hammer. The quests ask for some parts first: "Forge Ahead" quest wants rods, a bolt, plates and a curved plate, and then "A Superior Tool" quest is the drill itself.[5][6]
This pack uses its own recipe for the drill, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod:[8]
Shaped (kubejs)

Recipe id: ftb:steam_mining_drill
This recipe is added by the pack.
Step 3: Bronze and the Bronze Boiler
Hammer copper and tin ingots into dusts in the Forge Hammer, then combine the copper and tin dusts into bronze dust. A Mixer does this more efficiently. Smelt the bronze dust to get a bronze ingot. Remember that 9 tiny dusts make one dust.[9]
With bronze you can build the Bronze Boiler ("Bronze Boiler" quest). Finishing that quest opens up several branches in the chapter:[5]
- The Bronze Mixer, for better dust ratios.[5][9]
- The Bronze Macerator and Bronze Furnace.[5]
- The Bronze Compressor.[5]
- The Coke Oven quest ("Coke Oven" quest) and the Steam Blast Furnace quest ("Steam Blast Furnace" quest), which lead to steel.[5]
Step 4: Steel
The Coke Oven starts steel production. Macerate coke into Coke Dust and combine it with iron to get Uncooked Steel Dust. Again, the Mixer gives you a better ratio. You then turn that dust into steel in the Steam Blast Furnace.[7][10]
The Steam Blast Furnace needs its controller, 29 Fire Clay Bricks and the same hatches as the Coke Oven. Its structure is the Coke Oven's with Fire Clay Bricks in place of Bricks, plus one extra hollow layer on top. This pack adds a stonecutting recipe for Fire Clay Bricks:[5][8][10]
Stonecutting
Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/modern_industrialization_fire_clay_bricks
This stonecutting recipe is added by the pack.
Once you have a steel ingot and a Steel Machine Casing ("The Gears of Industry" quest), more quests open up. These include the Steam Quarry, the Steel Upgrade and the Steel Wiremill. You'll need the wiremill later for cables, which are made from wires and rubber sheets.[5][11]
How does Modern Industrialization work?
6 parts
Modern Industrialization is all about automation, and the whole mod hangs on a few ideas: machines that scale with energy, multiblocks built around controllers and hatches, and pipes that move fluids, items and power. Here's how those systems work in this pack.[3]
Steam machines and tiers
The boiler sends steam to adjacent machines automatically, up to 8 millibuckets per tick. Bronze machines handle recipes up to 2 EU/t, and 1 mb of steam equals 1 EU, so one boiler at max temperature can power 4 machines at once.[12]
Steam machines accept inputs from any side. You can lock a slot with the lock button so it only takes one type of item or fluid. Every machine has an output side, and you can switch on auto-eject in the interface. Hoppers, pipes and other automation can still pull outputs from any side.[12]
With a wrench you can rotate a machine by right-clicking, and rotate the output side by sneaking while you shift-click. Breaking a machine with the wrench won't drop it, so use a pickaxe for that.[12]
Steel machines process recipes up to 4 EU/t and run twice as fast as long as energy use stays within that limit. A multiblock with at least one steel hatch is upgraded to steel tier too. Steel tanks hold up to 16 buckets.[13]
Multiblocks, controllers and hatches
Every multiblock is managed by a controller, but you usually can't interact with the controller directly. All input and output goes through hatches. If a required hatch is missing, the multiblock won't start.[14]
Hold a wrench to see missing blocks and errors, or hold a hatch to see where it can go. The pack leaves the hatch overlay on with rendering.hatchPlacementOverlay, and the highlight shows within 32 blocks, set by rendering.maxMultiblockHighlightOverlayRange. Once the controller reports Shape Valid, you're good to go.[14][15]
Some structures have a size you can pick. The Distillation Tower gives one output per layer: a size 2 tower gives only the first output of the recipe, size 3 gives the first two, and so on. This pack caps its height at 9 with maxDistillationTowerHeight, which is also the mod default.[16][17]
Electric machines and overclocking
Electric machines work like steam machines, but they run on electricity and progressively overclock recipes up to 32 EU/t. Electric multiblocks cap at 128 EU/t. Adding upgrades in the machine or multiblock menu raises that maximum, and REI shows the exact amounts.[4]
You can also overclock manually. Right-click an electric machine with a lubricant container, and each 25 mb of lubricant adds 1 efficiency tick. Lubricant comes from mixing creosote and redstone.[4]
A Redstone Control Module lets redstone signals control a machine or multiblock. Configure it in your hand, then insert it into the controller. An Overdrive Module stops efficiency from dropping when a machine stops processing, but the machine keeps drawing the same EU/t while doing no work. A machine can also be switched to MV tier by right-clicking it with an Advanced Machine Hull, after which it only accepts MV cable connections.[4][18]
Power and cables
The Steam Turbine turns every mb of steam into 1 EU, up to 32 mb per tick. It sends power straight into cables on its output side. Every cable has a tier: copper, silver and tin are LV, while cupronickel and electrum are MV. The tier decides which machines it connects to, and single-block electric machines only connect to LV cables.[19]
Networks pull at most 256 EU/t on LV cables, 1024 EU/t on MV and 8192 EU/t on HV. There is no output limit and cables have a small internal storage, so an LV network can briefly deliver more than 256 EU/t. Transformers bridge tiers: stepping up has 5 inputs and 1 output, and stepping down has 1 input and 5 outputs.[19]
For generation, a Diesel Generator makes up to 256 EU/t and only connects to MV cables. An HV Diesel Generator makes up to 1024 EU/t. A Large Steam Boiler running on liquid fuel produces roughly twice the energy of a Diesel Generator from the same fuel when fully heated.[20][21]
Watch the Large Steam Boiler's efficiency. It makes 256 mb/t of steam when fully heated, but 80% of unconsumed heat is lost, so energy per fuel drops when it isn't running at maximum output. The advanced version reaches 1024 mb/t.[22][23]
For outside energy, this pack sets forgeEnergyPerEu to 10, so 1 EU is worth 10 Forge Energy. It also enables compat.bidirectionalEnergyCompat, even though the mod's own description recommends leaving it off unless the other mods are balanced for it.[17][24]
Fluid handling
Fluid pipes hold only one fluid type and won't connect to empty pipes or blocks by default. You can force a connection by right-clicking the center of the pipe with a wrench. Each tick they try to extract evenly from connected blocks and then insert evenly.[25]
Each pipe has an internal buffer of exactly 1000 mb, and directly connected pipes share it. A rate is bounded by the network's total capacity, so 25 linked pipes can move up to 25000 mb/t. Adding one steel tank with an I/O connection raises that to 41000 mb/t. Tanks and machines on the network can still limit the rate.[26]
The Large Tank stores 64 buckets per block in the structure, sides included. Only pipes can access it, either through the controller or a Large Tank Hatch. Don't break the controller or you lose all stored fluid.[27]
Item handling and automation
Item pipes don't connect to inventories by default, but you can force a connection. They insert into higher priorities first, and motors can upgrade them. Right-click a connection without a wrench to open its filter. It starts in whitelist mode, so nothing moves until you add items or switch to blacklist. Configure both sides of the pipe or items won't move.[25]
The base transfer is 16 items every 3 seconds, set by baseItemPipeTransfer with the mod default of 16 and a range of 1 to 1,024. A configuration card copies Item Pipe settings. Hold it in your offhand and it applies automatically to any Item Pipe you place.[24][25][28]
For storage, the Configurable Chest has 27 configurable slots with auto-eject, and you can craft it once you have Analog Circuits. The Configurable Tank has 9 slots of 16 buckets each, also with auto-eject. Bronze barrels hold 32 stacks of one item and keep their contents when broken. The Assembler can automate almost any recipe, up to 3 per Assembler with slot locking.[4][29][30]
How do you progress through Modern Industrialization?
5 parts
The pack's Modern Industrialization quest chapter walks you through the mod in a fairly strict order, and each step unlocks the machines for the next one. Follow it and you go from a hammer and a few copper parts all the way to quantum gear. Machine hulls mark the electric tiers, so they are a handy way to tell where you are.[5]
Steam age: bronze and steel
The chapter starts with the Forge Hammer ("The Start of Modern Industrialization" quest). It then moves on to a set of copper and iron parts ("Forge Ahead" quest) and your first Steam Mining Drill ("A Superior Tool" quest). The pack adds its own recipe for that drill, so use this one rather than any default you remember.[5][8]

The Bronze Boiler ("Bronze Boiler" quest) is the gate for the whole bronze tier. After it you can pick up the Coke Oven, Bronze Mixer, Bronze Macerator, Bronze Furnace and Bronze Compressor. The Steam Blast Furnace ("Steam Blast Furnace" quest) comes from the same boiler quest, and it leads to steel.[5]
The Steam Blast Furnace needs Fire Clay Bricks. The pack adds a stonecutting recipe that makes them from Black Fire Bricks from Productive Metalworks.[5][8]

Steel and the Steel Machine Casing ("The Gears of Industry" quest) unlock the Steam Quarry ("Your First Quarry!" quest), the Steel Upgrade and the Steel Wiremill.[5]
Electric age: LV
Next is cable making. Synthetic oil leads to the Rubber Sheet ("Rubber Sheet" quest), and the Wiremill gives you the Tin Cable. The quest after the tin cable asks for the Motor, Robot Arm, Piston and Conveyor. The Basic Machine Hull quest ("The LV Age" quest) comes after both the tin cable quest and the Analog Circuit quest.[5][11]
Assembler (modern_industrialization)
Recipe id: modern_industrialization:assembler_generated/electric_age/component/craft/conveyor
The Conveyor is made in the Assembler.
The quest for the analog circuit also accepts Mekanism's Elite Control Circuit. The pack adds a recipe that converts that circuit into an Analog Circuit, and it changes the Analog Circuit's own recipe too.[5][8]
The LV Steam Turbine ("LV Steam Turbine" quest) opens up the electric machines: Polarizer, Electric Packer, LV Storage Unit, Electric Mixer and the Assembler. The in-game guide strongly suggests setting up Assemblers early to automate crafting your electric machines.[4][5]
The Electric Blast Furnace ("Electric Blast Furnace" quest) is the next big milestone. It needs Cupronickel Coil and Heatproof Machine Casing blocks, and it leads to the Industrial Aluminum Ingot ("Industrial Aluminum Ingot" quest). The pack adds several extra routes to that ingot, using the Arc Furnace, a blast furnace and the Oritech Foundry.[5][8][31]
MV: advanced hull and oil
The quest chain goes from the Electronic Circuit Board to the Electronic Circuit and then to the Advanced Machine Hull ("Advanced Machine Hull" quest). The pack changes the circuit board recipe, shown below.[5][8]
Assembler (modern_industrialization)
Analog Circuit Board

- 3× any industrial aluminum plate
Recipe id: modern_industrialization:assembler_generated/electric_age/circuit/craft/electronic_circuit_board
This hull opens a wide branch. It gives you the Large Pump, Large Motor and Oil Drilling Rig. It also gives you the Centrifuge, Distillery, Vacuum Freezer, Chemical Reactor and Electrolyzer. Further along you get the MV Steam Turbine, Electric Quarry and Advanced Large Steam Boiler, which makes up to 1024 mb/t of steam.[5][23]
The pack also changes the Frostproof Machine Casing and Large Motor recipes, so look them up in-game before you craft them.[8]
HV and EV: turbo and highly advanced
Oil products and the Digital Circuit (Digital Circuit Board, then Digital Circuit) lead to the Turbo Machine Hull ("Turbo Machine Hull" quest). Then come the Advanced Motor and Advanced Pump, and the Distillation Tower ("Distillation Tower" quest), which needs an HV Energy Input Hatch. The Stainless Steel Drill also unlocks here.[5]
Titanium-tier content follows. It includes the Implosion Compressor ("Implosion Compressor" quest), the High Pressure Large Steam Boiler and the Large Steam Turbine.[5]
The Processing Unit quest ("Processing Unit" quest) follows the silicon wafer, processing unit board and RAM quests, and the Highly Advanced Machine Hull ("Highly Advanced Machines" quest) comes after it. That hull opens the nuclear branch: Nuclear Alloy Plate, then the Nuclear Reactor ("Nuclear Reactor" quest), then Uranium Fuel Rod and the HE fuel rods. The pack adds its own Assembler recipe for the Nuclear Alloy Casing, shown below.[5][8]
Assembler (modern_industrialization)

Added by the pack.
The hull tiers line up with the Tesla Receiver Hatch recipes. The Basic hull is LV, Advanced is MV, Turbo is HV, Highly Advanced is EV and Quantum is SV.[8]
Quantum endgame
The Quantum Circuit ("Quantum Circuit" quest) leads to the Quantum Machine Hull, the Singularity and the Fusion Reactor ("The Fusion Reactor" quest). Fusion brings Helium Plasma Bucket and the Plasma Turbine. The singularity brings UU Matter Bucket and the Quantum Upgrade.[5]
The final quest ("Quantum Gear" quest) asks for the full Quantum armor set and the Quantum Sword. The in-game guide says the full set grants creative flight, and each piece adds 25% to the chance of nullifying damage.[5][32]
There is also a side goal, the Gravichestplate ("Gravichestplate" quest), which needs a Highly Advanced Upgrade and superconductor parts.[5][8]
How does Modern Industrialization work with other mods?
5 parts
In this pack, Modern Industrialization connects to other mods in two main ways: Extended Industrialization machines are built from Modern Industrialization parts, and a few quests accept items from other mods as alternatives. Here's how each one works.[5][8]
Extended Industrialization machines
Extended Industrialization adds extra machines, and the recipes below are crafted from Modern Industrialization parts. Most of the machine recipes below exist both as a crafting grid recipe and as an Assembler recipe.[8]
The electric versions of the Electric Alloy Smelter, Electric Bending Machine, Electric Brewery, Electric Canning Machine, Electric Composter and Electric Honey Extractor all start from a Basic Machine Hull and an Analog Circuit.[8]
The steel-tier Steel Alloy Smelter, Steel Brewery, Steel Canning Machine and Steel Honey Extractor are built around a Steel Machine Casing and a Bronze Rotor.[8]
The brewery also needs a vanilla Blaze Rod, in both its electric and steel versions.[8]
Steel upgrades
The steel bending machine and steel composter aren't crafted from scratch. You upgrade the bronze version with a Steel Upgrade. You can do that in the crafting grid or with a packer, and an unpacker reverses it.[8]
- Bronze Bending Machine + Steel Upgrade gives the Steel Bending Machine.[8]
- Bronze Composter + Steel Upgrade gives the Steel Composter.[8]
Recipes the pack changed
Some of these recipes are marked as changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's defaults for them. Check the recipes below instead.[8]

Farmers, modules and power
The farmers follow a chain. The Steel Combine goes into the Steam Farmer, and the steam farmer goes into the Electric Farmer. The steam farmer uses a Motor and Bronze Plated Bricks. The electric farmer adds a Large Motor, a Large Pump and a Robot Arm.[8]
The Looting Module and Silk Touch Module each need a Modern Industrialization Robot Arm and Polyethylene. The looting module also takes a Netherite Rotary Blade, and the silk touch module takes an Invar Rotary Blade.[8]
Higher-tier machines lean on bigger parts. Look for the Nether Star, Advanced Machine Casing and Pump in the Electric Beacon, the Tesla Receiver and Highly Advanced Machine Hull in the EV Tesla Receiver Hatch, and the Turbo Machine Hull, Digital Circuit and Advanced Motor in the HV Solar Panel. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack recipes.[8]

Quest links to other mods
Some quests in the Modern Industrialization chapter accept an item from another mod. Quest "We Cannot Resist This" quest takes either an Analog Circuit or a Elite Control Circuit. Quest "We Are Resisting This" quest takes either an Electronic Circuit or a Ultimate Control Circuit.[5]
The early quests also mix in materials from other mods. Quest "Forge Ahead" quest asks for Copper Rod, Iron Plate and Copper Plate alongside Modern Industrialization's Copper Bolt and Copper Curved Plate. Quest "The Gears of Industry" quest asks for an Steel Ingot together with a Steel Machine Casing.[5]
Vanilla items show up too. The coke oven quest "Coke Oven" quest asks for Bricks, and the oil drilling rig quest "Oil Drilling Rig" quest asks for Chain.[5]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Modern Industrialization?
4 parts
Most of this mod's quests live in one long chapter called modern_industrialization, with a few more scattered through other chapters. The quests have no titles in this pack, so I describe each one by the item it asks for. Each quest unlocks after the ones it lists, so the order below follows those dependencies.[5]
Main chapter: steam age
The chapter starts with "The Start of Modern Industrialization" quest, which asks for a Forge Hammer. "Forge Ahead" quest follows and asks for several plates and rods, plus a Copper Bolt and a Copper Curved Plate. After that comes "A Superior Tool" quest, the Steam Mining Drill.[5]
The bronze machine quests all unlock after the Bronze Boiler quest, "Bronze Boiler" quest:[5]
- "Coke Oven" quest: a Coke Oven with bricks and bronze item hatches.[5]
- "Bronze Mixer" quest: a Bronze Mixer. "Bronze Cutting Machine" quest then asks for a Bronze Cutting Machine.[5]
- "Crushing & Cutting" quest: a Bronze Macerator and a Bronze Furnace.[5]
- "Bronze Compressor" quest: a Bronze Compressor.[5]
- "Steam Blast Furnace" quest: a Steam Blast Furnace with hatches and Fire Clay Bricks.[5]
Steel comes next. "The Gears of Industry" quest asks for a steel ingot and Steel Machine Casing, and it needs the hammer and steam blast furnace quests done first. It opens "Your First Quarry!" quest (the Steam Quarry), "Steel Upgrade" quest (the Steel Upgrade) and "Steel Wiremill" quest (the Steel Wiremill).[5]
Main chapter: electric age
"Synthetic Oil or Rubber Bucket" quest asks for synthetic oil, and "Rubber Sheet" quest follows with a Rubber Sheet. "MI Cables" quest asks for a Tin Cable and needs both the wiremill and rubber quests. Then "Components and You" quest wants a motor, robot arm, piston and conveyor. "We Cannot Resist This" quest takes an Analog Circuit or a Mekanism circuit instead. The cable quest and the circuit quest together unlock "The LV Age" quest, the Basic Machine Hull.[5]
From the hull, "Heatproof Machine Casing" quest asks for a Heatproof Machine Casing, and "Full Steam Ahead!" quest builds a Large Steam Boiler. "LV Steam Turbine" quest, the LV Steam Turbine, unlocks a group of LV machines: the Polarizer, Electric Packer, LV Storage Unit, Electric Mixer and Assembler. "Electric Blast Furnace" quest is the Electric Blast Furnace, and "Industrial Aluminum Ingot" quest (aluminum) follows it.[5]
The circuit line runs from "Electronic Circuit Board" quest (electronic circuit board) to "We Are Resisting This" quest (electronic circuit) to "Advanced Machine Hull" quest (the Advanced Machine Hull). The hull unlocks "Large Pump" quest (large pump) and "Large Motor" quest (large motor). The pump opens the oil and chemistry machines: "Oil Drilling Rig" quest (oil drilling rig), "Centrifuge" quest (centrifuge), "Distillery" quest (distillery), "Vacuum Freezer" quest (vacuum freezer), "Chemical Reactor" quest (chemical reactor) and "Electrolyzer" quest (electrolyzer). The large motor opens "MV Steam Turbine" quest (MV steam turbine) and "Electric Quarry" quest (electric quarry). "Advanced Large Steam Boiler" quest (advanced large steam boiler) needs both the pump and the motor quests.[5]
Main chapter: chemistry, nuclear and beyond
A long run of fluid quests asks for a bucket of a chemical each. It starts with chlorine ("Chlorine" quest, after the electrolyzer) and ethylene ("Ethylene" quest), then polyethylene ("Polyethylene" quest). The digital circuit line follows: "Digital Circuit Board" quest (digital circuit board), "Digital Circuit" quest (digital circuit) and "Turbo Machine Hull" quest (turbo machine hull). Then come "Annealed Copper Ingot" quest (annealed copper) and "Advanced Components" quest (advanced motor and pump).[5]
After the advanced motor and pump you reach the Distillation Tower ("Distillation Tower" quest) and the Stainless Steel Drill ("Stainless Steel Drill" quest). Shale oil ("Shale Oil Processing" quest) needs both. It leads into sulfuric naphtha ("Sulfuric Naphtha Processing" quest) and steam-cracked naphtha ("Steam-Cracked Naphtha Processing" quest), which branches into propene, acetylene, toluene, ethylbenzene and butadiene. That chain ends at styrene-butadiene rubber ("Styrene-Butadiene Rubber" quest).[5]
Further along are the Implosion Compressor ("Implosion Compressor" quest), the High Pressure Large Steam Boiler ("High Pressure Large Steam Boiler" quest), the Large Steam Turbine ("Large Steam Turbine" quest) and the Heat Exchanger ("Heat Exchanger" quest). The processing unit ("Processing Unit" quest) leads to the Highly Advanced Machine Hull ("Highly Advanced Machines" quest).[5]
The nuclear branch starts with "Nuclear Alloy Plate" quest (nuclear alloy plate) and "Nuclear Reactor" quest (the Nuclear Reactor with its hatches and casings). It continues with "Uranium Fuel Rod" quest (uranium fuel rod), "Deuterium" quest (deuterium) and "Tritium" quest (tritium). The endgame is quantum tech: "Quantum Circuit" quest (quantum circuit), "Quantum Machine Hull" quest (quantum machine hull), "The Fusion Reactor" quest (fusion reactor) and "Singularities" quest (singularity). It finishes with "Quantum Upgrade" quest (quantum upgrade), "Plasma Turbine" quest (plasma turbine) and "Quantum Gear" quest, which asks for the full quantum armor set and the Quantum Sword. "Gravichestplate" quest asks for the Gravichestplate.[5]

Which Modern Industrialization config options matter?
3 parts
Modern Industrialization splits its settings across a client, a server and a startup file. Here are the options you're most likely to care about and how this pack sets them. In the files I was given, none of the options that list a mod default differ from that default, so the pack leaves those at the mod's values.[15][17][24]
Values that affect gameplay
- baseItemPipeTransfer is 16, the mod default. That's the base number of items an item pipe moves every 3 seconds.[24]
- forgeEnergyPerEu is 10, the mod default. One MI EU is worth 10 Forge Energy units.[24]
- maxDistillationTowerHeight is 9, the mod default. It caps how tall the distillation tower multiblock can be, and the allowed range goes up to 32.[17]
- compat.bidirectionalEnergyCompat is true. The option's own description recommends leaving it false unless the other mods have been balanced accordingly, so the pack has it switched on.[17]
- recipes.stonecutterToCuttingMachine and recipes.compostableToPlantOil are both true. That means cutting machine recipes are generated for all stonecutter recipes, and the centrifuge gets plant oil recipes for all compostable items.[24]
- defaultIndustrialistTrades is true, so the Industrialist villager keeps the trades MI gives it.[17]
Integrations and safety switches
The Applied Energistics 2, FTB Quests and Almost Unified integrations are all enabled (each only applies if that mod is present): compat.ae2Integration, compat.ftbQuestsIntegration and compat.almostUnifiedIntegration.[17]
The risky options are off. debugCommands is false (those commands are described as unsupported and dangerous), and so are datagen.datagenOnStartup, datagen.loadRuntimeGeneratedResources and transactionCallerName. The last one costs performance and is only meant for debugging.[17]
Guidebook, tooltips and visuals
- spawnWithGuideBook and respawnWithGuideBook are both false, so you don't get the MI guidebook on first join or after respawning.[24]
- tooltips.fuelTooltips is true, so fuel items show their total EU value. tooltips.itemTagTooltips is false, so item tags aren't added to tooltips.[15]
- tooltips.defaultOreGenTooltips is true. Its description says to set it to false if you change the ore features in a datapack.[15]
- rendering.hatchPlacementOverlay is true, and rendering.maxMultiblockHighlightOverlayRange is 32 blocks, the mod default. Holding a hatch or wrench within that range shows valid multiblock positions.[15]
- rendering.barrelContentRendering is true, so barrels show their item icon, amount and name.[15]
- rendering.interMachineConnectedTextures is false. Turning it on needs a suitable resource pack.[15]
- messages.newVersionMessage is false, while messages.missingRecipeViewerMessage is true. You'll get a login message if EMI, JEI and REI are all missing.[15]
Unverified The pack also contains an older-style file, baseItemPipeTransfer, which lists 32 for item pipe transfer, and it enables inter-machine connected textures and runtime-generated resources, unlike the newer client and startup files. Which file wins in-game isn't confirmed, so check the pipe transfer value in your own world before relying on either number.
What changed in Modern Industrialization between versions?
3 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Modern Industrialization 2.5.6, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]
2.5.6 (the version in this pack)
- Diesel tool recipes are now gated by aluminum rather than electronic circuits.[39]
- Creative barrels can be extracted from again.[39]
- Steel upgrades are no longer wrongly consumed on machines whose id does not include bronze_.[39]
- Transformer recipes now work in practice the way EMI shows them.[39]
- MI pipes can no longer replace Mekanism's bounding blocks, which used to make Mekanism large machines delete themselves.[39]
- Some machine blocks that could not take a redstone control module by clicking it onto them now can, instead of only through the GUI.[39]
- There is a new config value for the multiblock highlight overlay range.[39]
2.5.1 to 2.5.5
- The large tank multiblock structure now accepts any glass block.[40]
- You can create ME wire connections by clicking the connector part with the wire.[40]
- The Pressurizer and Implosion Compressor now use the correct machine casing for their hatches.[40]
- Inserting items into machines got a performance improvement.[40]
- Barrel contents no longer get out of sync.[41]
- Overlapping recipes with different, non-overlapping conditions no longer count as multiple matches.[41]
Earlier 2.x releases
- 2.4.3: custom recipes can be added to the MI furnace, and placing an MI pipe out of world bounds no longer throws an error in the server log.[42]
- 2.4.2: pipe stats now track insertion and extraction values separately.[43]
- 2.4.1: turbines are rotatable again.[44]
- 2.3.16: the steam quarry got its own distinct texture, and the mod updated to KubeJS 7.2.[45]
- 2.3.15: the mod switched to NeoForge's own implementation of transactions (1.21.10), and ore data generation now supports arbitrary strata.[46]
- 2.3.9: energy output hatches gained auto-output.[47]
- 2.3.8: Almost Unified integration was added.[48]
