What is Extended Industrialization?
2 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds new machines, power sources, tools and resources on top of what you already build with that mod, so it's aimed at you if you're already working with Modern Industrialization and want more to play with.[1][2]
Its goal is to cover more ground while staying true to Modern Industrialization's design. The batching multiblocks are the example the in-game guide gives: they let you scale factories further, with fewer machines to configure and less performance cost.[2]
The pack ships version 1.16.2-1.21.1 of the mod.[3]
What you get
- Machines: Alloy Smelter, Bending Machine, Brewery, Canning Machine, Composter, Farmer, Honey Extractor, Large Furnace, Large Macerator, Machine Chainer, Processing Array, Universal Transformer, Waste Collector and Wireless Charging Station.[1]
- Generators: the Solar Boiler and the Solar Panel.[1]
- Tools and equipment: Canned Food, Machine Config Card, Steam Chainsaw, Electric Drill and Chainsaw, Ultimate Laser Drill and Nano Suit.[1]
- Resources: Mulch, Manure, Composted Manure, NPK Fertilizer, Honey (fluid) and Crystallized Honey.[1]
Highlights
- Batching multiblocks: the Large Furnace, Large Macerator and Processing Array can run several inputs at once, and the EU/t they use scales with the number of batches currently running.[4]
- Machine Chainer: links machines, barrels and other inventories in a straight line up to 64 blocks into one shared inventory, and it handles items, fluids and energy.[5]
- Farmer: tills, hydrates, plants, fertilizes and harvests for you. The steam version needs 32 EU/t and the electric version needs 64 EU/t.[6]
- Solar power: Solar Boilers burn no fuel but need direct sunlight and produce half the energy of a standard boiler of their type.[7]
- Electric Beacon: consumes potions and gives the effect to nearby players at 256 EU/t per effect.[8]
- Tesla: coils, towers and receivers move EU wirelessly, at a cost.[9]
Unverified Where this mod fits in the pack's progression can't be confirmed from the available sources, so plan your Extended Industrialization builds around your own Modern Industrialization progress.
How do you get started with Extended Industrialization?
4 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds extra machines, power sources, tools and resources, and it stays true to Modern Industrialization's design. So the machines below sit on top of the base mod's progression.[1][2]
Step 1: bronze-tier machines
The recipes for Bronze Bending Machine and Bronze Composter have been changed by this pack. Don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults, and check the recipes below instead.[10]

Step 2: bricks and the Large Steam Furnace
Steel Plated Bricks are another recipe the pack changed. They are worth making early, because they are also used in the Large Electric Macerator recipe later on.[10]

Step 3: automate your crops
The farmer isn't a normal recipe machine. It tills and hydrates soil, plants, fertilizes and harvests crops, plants and trees. You don't have to use every task, and for trees you would avoid tilling and hydrating. Start with the Steam Farmer. The recipe blocks below go in order: the Steel Combine component first, then the farmer.[6][10]

The steam farmer needs 32 EU/t of steam to run, and the electric farmer needs 64 EU/t. Only the Electric Farmer can fertilize, using a fluid fertilizer in an input hatch.[6]

Step 4: go electric and scale up
Once you have electricity, the Large Furnace and Large Macerator are the first machines to look at. They are batching multiblocks. They work like a normal machine of their type, but can process several inputs at once, and their EU/t use scales with the number of batches running.[4]

How does Extended Industrialization work?
7 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It aims to extend that mod's content while staying true to its design. Below is how the systems that go beyond the basics work, with the values this pack uses.[1][2]
Batching multiblocks
Batching multiblocks work like a normal machine of their type, but they can process several sets of inputs at once. A multiblock that can run batches of Y can consume anywhere from 1x to Yx as many inputs at once, and it produces results to match. The EU/t it draws is multiplied by the number of batches currently running. Like other machines, it still runs only one recipe at a time. For exact batch sizes, check the tooltip on the machine's item.[4]
The Large Electric Furnace gets its batch size from the coils you build it with, much like the Electric Blast Furnace. The coil's tooltip tells you the batch size it provides. The Processing Array can run batches of any non-multiblock electric crafting machine you put into its interface. Its batch size is limited by its size and by how many machines you place in it.[4]
The pack uses the mod's default values for all of these settings:[11]
- Large Electric Macerator: maximum batch size of 16 and an EU cost multiplier of 0.75, set by batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_size and batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_eu.[11]
- Large Steam Macerator: maximum batch size of 8 and an EU multiplier of 0.75, set by batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_size and batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_eu.[11]
- Large Steam Furnace: maximum batch size of 8 and an EU multiplier of 0.75, set by batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_size and batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_eu.[11]
- Processing Array: an EU multiplier of 1 (batching_machines.processing_array_eu) and a maximum size tier of 4 (processing_array_max_size). The tiers 1 to 4 correspond to 8, 16, 32 and 64.[11]
- Upgrades are allowed inside the Processing Array, per allow_upgrades_in_processing_array.[11]
Brewery, canning and composting
The Brewery works like a normal machine but performs brewing stand recipes. It takes Blazing Essence instead of blaze powder and uses exactly 1mb each time it brews a set of potions. It also brews exactly 4 potions at a time, where a brewing stand does 1 to 3. You can craft the Steel Brewery and the Electric Brewery.[10][12]
Canning machine and composter recipes are generated automatically at runtime in this pack, controlled by runtime_generated_recipes.canning_machine and runtime_generated_recipes.composter. Both are set to true.[11]
The pack changed the recipes for the Bronze Bending Machine and the Bronze Composter compared with the mod's own versions. Here is what you actually craft in this pack:[10]

Electric Beacon
The Electric Beacon consumes potions and gives the effect to all nearby players for 256 EU/t per effect. The duration is set by the potion's shortest effect, halved. An 8 minute speed potion gives 4 minutes of the effect. A 40 second turtle master potion has two effects, so it lasts 20 seconds and costs 512 EU/t. Because potions are consumed, the guide suggests an automation loop with a Brewery to keep the beacon running.[8]
Range depends on the number of layers beneath the beacon, not counting the steel casing:[8]
Farmer
The farmer doesn't run recipes. It tills and hydrates soil, plants, fertilizes and harvests, and you can skip tasks you don't want. With trees, for example, you wouldn't want it tilling or hydrating. It won't work without enough energy: the steam farmer needs 32 EU/t of steam and the electric farmer needs 64 EU/t. The dirt in the multiblock can be swapped for any block tagged farmer_dirt.[6]
- Tilling: when enabled in the multiblock shape settings, the multiblock's dirt becomes farmland, as if you'd used a hoe.[6]
- Hydrating: with water in an input hatch, it keeps all farmland hydrated without nearby water.[6]
- Planting: plantable items in an input hatch are planted on suitable blocks in its area. Only items with the farmer_plantable tag work.[6]
- Fertilizing: electric farmer only. An acceptable fluid fertilizer in an input hatch gives a bonemeal-like effect, even on plants like cactus and sugar cane. In this pack, a single use of fertilizer can do at most 80 random ticks on a crop block (farmer_fertilizer_max_random_ticks).[6][11]
- Harvesting: fully grown plants are broken and stored if the output hatch has space. Items tagged farmer_voidable have low storage priority and are discarded if there's no room.[6]
Machine Chainer
The Machine Chainer links machines, barrels or any inventory block tagged machine_chainer/linkable in a straight line, up to 64 blocks. The linked inventories are combined into one shared inventory, and the chainer can face any direction, including up and down. It handles items, fluids and energy. Energy transfer is limited to 3x the rate of a single cable of its tier, and it can't touch the energy of linked machines that don't match its voltage.[5]
This pack keeps the defaults: machine_chainer_max_connections is 64 and machine_chainer_max_transfer_multiplier is 3. Setting the multiplier to 0 would give infinite transfer. Chainers can connect to other chainers, but one must not link back to itself.[11][13]
The Machine Chainer Relay can be linked by the chainer but has no inventory. Use it as filler so you don't need a machine in every gap.[5]
Solar power
Solar Boilers work like normal bronze and steel boilers but burn no fuel. They need direct sunlight above them and still need water, and they produce half as much energy as a standard boiler of their type. Over time they calcify and lose up to 33% efficiency. Using an axe resets it, and Distilled Water instead of normal water avoids it completely.[7]
Solar Panels produce energy in direct sunlight when given a photovoltaic cell of their tier. The cell erodes and eventually breaks, so you need a passive supply of new ones. Providing Distilled Water doubles the cell's lifetime.[7]
Tesla networks
Tesla coils and receivers transfer EU wirelessly, at a cost. A network is limited to one transmitter (a Tesla Coil or Tesla Tower) and has no intrinsic limit on Tesla Receivers. Each transmitter has its own range and passive drain. A transmitter can only send to a receiver of the exact same voltage.[9]
To link them, use a Tesla Calibrator: press the calibrator's save keybind on the transmitter, then use it on each receiver. If you hold the calibrator in your off-hand when placing receivers, they link automatically.[9][13]
- Tesla Coil: the hull inside sets the voltage and the passive EU/t drain, and higher voltages drain more. In this pack the range is 32 blocks (tesla_coil_range).[9][11][13]
- Tesla Tower: the energy input hatches set the voltage, and all hatches must be the same tier. The windings set the passive drain, transfer limit and range.[9][13]
- Tesla Receiver: stores the energy it receives and ejects it from its output face. Cables can also extract from it.[9]
- Tesla Receiver Hatch: receives like a receiver but works directly as an energy input hatch for a multiblock.[9]
The lethal tesla coil damages entities within 2 blocks while powered in this pack (lethal_tesla_coil.range). The config also sets lethal_tesla_coil.damage.superconductor to 2,147,483,647, but the file gives no description of that value.[11][13]
The Tesla Particle Generator only makes arcs for looks. If the animations cost you frames, the client config has render_tesla_animations, which is true in this pack, and tesla_animations_render_distance, where the default 0 means always render.[10][13][14]

How do you progress through Extended Industrialization?
5 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so its machines slot into the same tier ladder you already know: bronze and steel steam machines first, then electric machines, then the big multiblocks and wireless power. Here is how that ladder looks with this pack's in-game recipes.[2][10]
Unverified No pack quest line for this mod could be confirmed from the sources, so treat the order below as a recipe-based path rather than a quest-guided one.
Bronze tier: steam basics
Your first machines here are the Bronze Bending Machine, the Bronze Composter and the Bronze Solar Boiler. The pack changed the Bronze Bending Machine and Bronze Composter recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[10]

The Large Steam Furnace and Large Steam Macerator also have steam-era recipes, so you can scale up ore processing before you have any electricity.[10]
Solar boilers burn no fuel, but they need open sky above them and still need water. They produce half as much energy as a standard boiler of their type. Over time they calcify and lose up to 33% efficiency. Using an axe resets this, and Distilled Water avoids it completely.[7]

Steel tier: upgrades and new steam machines
The Steel Bending Machine and Steel Composter are made by upgrading their bronze versions with a Steel Upgrade, so keep your bronze machines around.[10]

Electric tier: single-block machines and solar
Once you have power, the electric versions arrive: Electric Alloy Smelter, Electric Bending Machine, Electric Brewery, Electric Canning Machine, Electric Composter and Electric Honey Extractor. The brewery works like a brewing stand, but it brews exactly 4 potions at a time and uses 1mb of Blazing Essence per batch.[10][12]
The Electric Farmer needs 64 EU/t and is the only farmer that can fertilize crops.[6]
Solar panels come in LV Solar Panel, MV Solar Panel and HV Solar Panel tiers. Panels need direct sunlight and a photovoltaic cell of their tier. The cells erode and break over time, so you'll want to produce them passively. Distilled Water doubles their lifetime. The MV panel's in-pack recipe is below.[7][10]

Multiblocks and logistics
The Large Electric Furnace, Large Electric Macerator and Processing Array are batching multiblocks. They work like a normal machine of their type but process several inputs at once, and EU/t scales with the number of batches running. Check the item tooltip for the exact batch size. The Large Electric Furnace's batches depend on its coils, and the Processing Array's depend on its size and how many machines you put inside.[4][10]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/processing_array/craft
For tidy factories, the Machine Chainer links machines and inventories in a straight line up to 64 blocks into one shared inventory. The Machine Chainer Relay fills gaps in that line. The Large Configurable Chest is also available for storage.[5][10]
Late game: Tesla and the Electric Beacon
Tesla networks move EU wirelessly, at a cost. A network has one transmitter, and a transmitter can only reach receivers of the exact same voltage. Receiver hatches come as LV Tesla Receiver Hatch, MV Tesla Receiver Hatch, HV Tesla Receiver Hatch and EV Tesla Receiver Hatch. The Lethal Tesla Coil and Tesla Particle Generator also have recipes in the pack.[9][10]
The Electric Beacon costs 256 EU/t per effect and consumes potions. Its range is 30, 50, 70 or 90 for 1 to 4 layers beneath it. Pair it with a brewery loop to keep it running.[8][10]

How does Extended Industrialization work with other mods?
4 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so nearly every connection to another mod in this pack runs through Modern Industrialization. The recipes below show how the mods share parts.[1][2][10]
Most machine recipes here come as a normal crafting-grid recipe and as a Modern Industrialization assembler recipe. Each pair uses the same inputs, so you can pick whichever fits where you are in the pack.[10]
Machine tiers built from Modern Industrialization parts
- The Bronze Bending Machine and Bronze Composter become the Steel Bending Machine and Steel Composter with Modern Industrialization's Steel Upgrade. A packer does the same job, and an unpacker reverses it.[10]
- The electric alloy smelter, bending machine, brewery, canning machine, composter and honey extractor are all built around a Basic Machine Hull and an Analog Circuit.[10]
- The Steel Alloy Smelter, Steel Brewery, Steel Canning Machine and Steel Honey Extractor are built around Modern Industrialization's Steel Machine Casing.[10]
- Farming: the Steam Farmer comes first and the Electric Farmer is its upgrade. Modern Industrialization's Motor, Large Motor and Large Pump appear along that chain (recipes below).[10]
- Components: the Steel Combine and Tin Can tie into Modern Industrialization's Steel Curved Plate and Tin Curved Plate (recipes below).[10]
- Tesla: the EV Tesla Receiver Hatch links the Tesla Receiver with a Highly Advanced Machine Hull, and an unpacker reverses it. The Tesla Particle Generator brings in an Electronic Circuit.[10]
- The HV Solar Panel is an assembler recipe at the high end, alongside the Turbo Machine Hull and Digital Circuit.[10]

Which Extended Industrialization config options matter?
5 parts
Good news first: for Extended Industrialization, this pack doesn't override any of the values the config files report a mod default for. Everything below is the pack's actual value, and it matches the mod's own default. So if you've played the addon elsewhere, the numbers will feel familiar.[11][14]
Processing Array
The biggest one to know is processing_array_max_size, set to 4 here. The tiers map to batch sizes: 1 is 8, 2 is 16, 3 is 32 and 4 is 64, so you get the full 64 in this pack. The Processing Array's EU cost multiplier, batching_machines.processing_array_eu, is 1. Upgrades are allowed inside it, because allow_upgrades_in_processing_array is true.[11]
Large machines
- Large Electric Macerator: max batch size batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_size is 16, and the EU cost multiplier batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_eu is 0.75.[11]
- Large Steam Macerator: batch size batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_size is 8, with an EU multiplier batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_eu of 0.75.[11]
- Large Steam Furnace: batch size batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_size is 8, with an EU multiplier batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_eu of 0.75.[11]
Machine Chainer, Farmer and Tesla Coils
- machine_chainer_max_connections is 64, so a single machine chainer can have up to 64 connections.[11]
- machine_chainer_max_transfer_multiplier is 3. The base transfer rate is the max transfer rate of the chainer's cable tier (set by the hull), and this multiplier is applied on top. Setting it to 0 would mean infinite transfer, but the pack doesn't do that.[11]
- farmer_fertilizer_max_random_ticks is 80, the most random ticks the Farmer can apply to one crop block per use of fertilizer.[11]
- tesla_coil_range is 32 for energy transmission, while the lethal Tesla Coil's damage range, lethal_tesla_coil.range, is 2.[11]
Generated recipes
Both runtime_generated_recipes.canning_machine and runtime_generated_recipes.composter are true, so Canning Machine and Composter recipes are generated automatically at runtime.[11]
Client visuals
On the client side, render_tesla_animations is true, so Tesla animations show. tesla_animations_render_distance is 0, which means they always render no matter how far away you are. If the effects hurt your frame rate in a big base, this is the place to look.[14]
Unverified lethal_tesla_coil.damage.superconductor is set to 2,147,483,647 in this pack, but the config lists no mod default or description for it, so it's unconfirmed whether this differs from the mod's default or what exactly it controls.
What changed in Extended Industrialization between versions?
5 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Extended Industrialization 1.16.2-1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own release changelogs, so they show what changed in the mod itself, not pack-specific tweaks.[3]
The version you have now
The 1.16.2 release updated Tesseract API to 1.12.16, which adds config caching.[15]
New content and integrations
- 1.15.0 added the Nano Saber and the Quantum Nano Saber.[16]
- 1.14.15 added Almost Unified integration.[17]
- 1.15.2 added a tag for blocking certain machines from being used with the chainer.[18]
- 1.15.28 fixed Curios compatibility when Accessories is installed, and added Curios slots for belt and hands.[19]
- 1.15.36 added an option for the Lethal Tesla Coil to damage players other than the one who placed it.[20]
- 1.15.37 lets you swap Tesla Receiver Hatches with a right click.[21]
Gameplay changes and balance fixes
- 1.15.0 fixed electric tool 3x3 mining so it no longer uses the targeted block's break speed for every block being mined. It also fixed the block breaking animation resetting when you changed the target face without 3x3 mining.[16]
- 1.15.0 fixed the honey bottle filling recipe in the canning machine so it uses the honey tag.[16]
- 1.15.21 fixed electric tool and nano armor attributes applying even with no energy, and steam chainsaw attributes applying even with no fuel. It also made the nano sweep attack use the item's damage attribute, made nano armor energy checks check the cost, and made tools use the base attribute for attack damage.[22]
- 1.15.25 limited the energy transfer rate of the Machine Chainer.[23]
- 1.15.40 converted the brewery machines to crafting type machines.[24]
- 1.15.45 fixed the farmer harvesting blocks in the ground when they grew outside the farmer's ring.[25]
Crash fixes and dependency updates
- 1.15.8 fixed a crash with the energy capability of Tesla Receiver Hatches.[26]
- 1.15.29 fixed a crash caused by using apache commons rather than google commons.[27]
- 1.15.9 updated Tesseract API to 1.9.0, and 1.15.38 updated Tesseract to 1.12.0.[28][29]
- 1.15.43 updated the mod to MI 2.5.0, and 1.15.33 removed MI Tweaks as a soft dependency.[30][31]
Visual and text fixes
- 1.15.36 fixed armor trims not rendering on nano armor when Iris is installed, and fixed the Cycle Time translation using the wrong placeholder type.[20]
- 1.15.40 fixed the Tesla plasma texture scaling incorrectly because of block atlas size.[24]
- 1.15.25 fixed machine models not using MI's new textures for output faces, and 1.15.9 fixed machine models having more textures than intended.[23][28]
- 1.15.15 fixed the Large Configurable Chest menu title to use the correct namespace.[32]
