What is Apothic Enchanting?
1 part
Apothic Enchanting is part of All the Mods 10 4.5, which ships version 1.4.4 (built for Minecraft 1.21.1). It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[1]
The mod has its own quest chapter, and you can use it as a roadmap. That chapter covers many special bookshelves, such as the Hellshelf, Seashelf and Deepshelf. It also covers a set of tomes plus the Enchantment Library and the Library of Alexandria.[2]
Unverified Apothic Enchanting is commonly described as an overhaul of the enchanting table, where the shelves around the table change what you can enchant. The pack files used here don't describe those mechanics, what each shelf does or what the libraries do, so check them in-game.
Where it fits in progression
The shelf line splits into two early branches. On the Hellshelf side, a quest in "?" asks for 5 Infused Hellshelf. That quest then opens up the Blazing Hellshelf, the Glowing Hellshelf and the Hellshelf of Sight shelves. On the Seashelf side, the Infused Seashelf leads to the Crystalline Seashelf, the Heart-Forged Seashelf and the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration.[2]
The two branches meet at the Deepshelf quest. From there, you work through the echoing and soul-touched deepshelves and sculkshelves to reach Infused Dragon's Breath. That unlocks the Endshelf and its Draconic and Pearlescent upgrades. The chapter ends with a quest in "?", which asks for 4 soul-touched sculkshelves, 4 echoing sculkshelves, a Draconic Endshelf, a Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability and a Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures.[2]
Alongside the shelves, a separate branch covers the tomes. It runs from the Tome of Scrapping up to the Tome of Superior Scrapping and the Tome of Extraction.[2]
How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?
5 parts
Apothic Enchanting completely reworks the enchanting table. Tables can now go beyond 30 levels, and some enchantments only show up past level 30. To get there, you'll replace plain bookshelves with the mod's special shelves.[5]
The table's power comes from three stats. Eterna sets the max enchanting level. Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases the number of enchantments you get. Quanta increases the underlying randomness. Every shelf you add changes these stats, so upgrading your shelves is how you progress.[5]
Step 1: Grab an enchanting table
The mod's very first advancement simply asks you to obtain an enchanting table and "begin to unveil the mystery". Get one down before anything else, because everything below builds on it.[5]
Step 2: Your first Hellshelf and Seashelf
The pack's Apothic Enchanting quest chapter opens with two shelf lines. One starts with the Hellshelf (a quest in "?") and the other with the Seashelf (a quest in "?"). They are your first real upgrade over vanilla bookshelves, and both unlock the next quests in the chapter.[2]

The same early tier also has a quest for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability (a quest in "?"). You'll need it much later, in the chapter's final shelf quest, so it's worth knowing about now.[2]
Step 3: Infuse your shelves
Next, turn those shelves into an Infused Hellshelf and an Infused Seashelf through Infusion Enchanting. The Infused Hellshelf quest (a quest in "?") asks for 5 of them, so plan on making several Hellshelves first.[2][5]

Pack-added alternative for the Infused Hellshelf
Unverified The exact table stats needed for a successful infusion are not covered by the available sources.
Step 4: Where the infused shelves lead
- The Infused Hellshelf upgrades into the Blazing Hellshelf, the Glowing Hellshelf and the Hellshelf of Sight.[2][6]
- The Infused Seashelf upgrades into the Crystalline Seashelf, the Heart-Forged Seashelf and the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration.[2][6]
- The pack changes the recipe for the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight, so check the in-game recipe rather than a mod-default guide.[6]
- The Glowing Hellshelf and Crystalline Seashelf quests together unlock the Deepshelf quest (a quest in "?"), which opens the next tier.[2]
Side branch: Tomes and the Library
Alongside the shelves, the chapter has quests for tomes. For example, the Tome of Boots accepts boot enchantments and the Tome of the Archers accepts bow enchantments. You'll also find a quest for the Tome of Scrapping (a quest in "?"), which can later be infused into the Tome of Superior Scrapping.[2][5][6]
The Enchantment Library has its own quest (a quest in "?") and is later infused into the Library of Alexandria.[2][6]

How does Apothic Enchanting work?
7 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.0 guide
Apothic Enchanting is built around the enchanting table, not around machines. The mod's tooltips describe a stat system, a set of bookshelf blocks that feed it, and a few storage and extraction tools. Here is how those pieces work.[7]
Raising the level cap
Enchanting tables can now exceed 30 levels, and some enchantments only show up past level 30. The mod has advancements for enchanting at levels 30, 60, 80 and 100, so the high end is meant to be reachable.[7]
The three stats
The enchanting screen shows three stats, and the bookshelves around the table push them up.[7]
- Eterna sets the max enchanting level. The screen shows your current value against the maximum.[7]
- Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases the number of enchantments you get.[7]
- Quanta increases the underlying randomness. The screen also says it lessens the negative effects.[7]
Some shelves are tagged as providing Quantic Stability. There are advancements for enchanting at 0%, 50% and 100% Quanta, and for hitting max Eterna and Arcana with 0% Quanta.[7]
Shelves
The shelves form upgrade chains. The basic ones are the Hellshelf, the Beeshelf and the Melonshelf, and the higher tiers are built from the tier below. Here is the Beeshelf recipe as an example.[8]

- Nether line: the Infused Hellshelf comes from Infusion Enchanting, and it then upgrades into the Blazing Hellshelf or the Glowing Hellshelf.[7][8]
- Sea line: the Infused Seashelf also comes from Infusion Enchanting. It upgrades into the Crystalline Seashelf, the Heart-Forged Seashelf or the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration.[7][8]
- End line: you need Infused Dragon's Breath to make the Endshelf. The Endshelf then upgrades into the Draconic Endshelf or the Pearlescent Endshelf.[7][8]
- Deep line: the Dormant Deepshelf has to be activated, and it becomes the Deepshelf. That upgrades into the Echoing Deepshelf, which in turn goes into the Echoing Sculkshelf using a Warden Tendril.[7][8]

Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration
You insert enchanted books into the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration to stop those enchantments from appearing in the table. It also gains Eterna and Arcana based on how many books you put in. That makes it a good way to cut out enchantments you don't want.[7][8]

Enchantment Library
The Enchantment Library stores enchantments. Insert an enchanted book to deposit it. Left-click a stored enchantment to take out one level, or shift-click to take the max level available.[7][8]
Tooltips on the library show how many enchantments it stores, the points stored against its capacity, and the max level available. They also warn you when the next level is unavailable.[7]

Tomes
The type tomes each accept one category of enchantments. These are the Tome of Helmets, Tome of Chestplates, Tome of Legplates, Tome of Boots, Tome of the Miners, Tome of the Fishers, Tome of the Archers and Tome of the Others. The Other tome covers miscellaneous enchantments.[7][8]
The Tome of Scrapping extracts half of the enchantments from an item and destroys the item in the process.[7][8]
The mod's text also describes an improved scrap tome that extracts all enchantments and destroys the item. It describes an extraction tome that extracts all enchantments without destroying the item. You can also build an Altar of the Seas, which turns unwanted enchanted items into a new book.[7]
Utility items
The Prismatic Cobweb can be used to remove curses.[7][8]
Ender leads capture and move entities. The Flimsy Ender Lead only handles animals. The full Ender Lead handles most entities, and the Occult Ender Lead can also bind them to Mob Spawners. The pack changed the Flimsy Ender Lead recipe from the mod's version, so use the one below.[7][8]

How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?
5 parts
Apothic Enchanting has its own quest chapter in this pack, and it's the best roadmap you can follow. It splits into a few branches: bookshelves that climb through Nether, ocean, deep, sculk and End tiers; a set of enchanting tomes; and the Enchantment Library. Here's how each branch unfolds and what unlocks what.[2]
First shelves: Hellshelves and Seashelves
The shelf path opens with two quests for the Hellshelf (a quest in "?" and a quest in "?") and two for the Seashelf (a quest in "?" and a quest in "?"). The Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability quest (a quest in "?") unlocks at the same point. Keep that Geode shelf in mind, because it comes back twice later on.[2]

Infused tier
Next you infuse your basic shelves. The mod's infusion recipes turn a Hellshelf into an Infused Hellshelf and a Seashelf into an Infused Seashelf. Heads up: the Infused Hellshelf quest (a quest in "?") wants 5 of them, while the Infused Seashelf quest (a quest in "?") needs just one.[2][6]

You make Infused Dragon's Breath by infusion, or with the pack's Runic Enchanter recipe. It's worth making a few, because it's also a task in two other quest chapters (a quest in "?" and a quest in "?").[2][3][4][6]

Tomes, library and extras
A separate branch covers the tomes. There's the Tome of Scrapping (a quest in "?"), and a quest for any armor tome (a quest in "?"). The others are the Tome of the Miners or Tome of the Fishers (a quest in "?"), the Tome of Weaponry or Tome of the Archers (a quest in "?"), and the Tome of the Others (a quest in "?").[2]
The Tome of Scrapping upgrades by infusion into the Tome of Superior Scrapping (a quest in "?"). That one infuses again into the Tome of Extraction (a quest in "?"), and both steps also have pack-added Runic Enchanter recipes.[2][6]

How does Apothic Enchanting work with other mods?
3 parts
Apothic Enchanting ties into several other mods in this pack, and the pack itself adds the recipes that connect them. Two links stand out. Some of the shelf and tome upgrades run through a Modern Industrialization machine, and a few Apothic items are needed for endgame All The Tweaks crafts like the portal miniatures and the Dragon Soul.[6]
Upgrading with the Runic Enchanter
The pack adds recipes for the Runic Enchanter that upgrade Apothic items. Each one takes Liquefied Source (starbunclemania:source_fluid) plus experience fluid, and outputs the next tier of the item.[6]
- A Hellshelf becomes an Infused Hellshelf.[6]
- A Dormant Deepshelf becomes a Deepshelf.[6]
- A Tome of Scrapping becomes a Tome of Superior Scrapping, which in turn becomes a Tome of Extraction.[6]
- Vanilla dragon's breath becomes Infused Dragon's Breath.[6]

Unverified What these Modular Machinery Reborn recipes produce, and how they relate to the Modern Industrialization versions, can't be confirmed from the recipe data.
All The Tweaks and the endgame
Apothic shelves are part of the pack's portal miniatures. The Miniature End Portal uses Endshelves and a Draconic Endshelf. The Miniature Exit Portal uses Infused Dragon's Breath and a Soul-Touched Sculkshelf. The Miniature Nether Portal uses a Hellshelf of Masterful Sight.[6]

What changed in Apothic Enchanting between versions?
Apothic Enchanting has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 4.5 ships version 1.4.4 of it. Here is how the version moved through the pack releases that changelogged it.[1]
- All the Mods 10 2.47: updated from 1.3.2 to 1.4.0.[9]
- All the Mods 10 3.0: updated from 1.4.0 to 1.4.1.[10]
- All the Mods 10 3.2: updated from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2.[11]
- All the Mods 10 4.0: updated from 1.4.2 to 1.4.3.[12]
- All the Mods 10 4.3: updated from 1.4.3 to 1.4.4, which is the version you have in 4.5.[1][13]
Unverified The pack changelogs only record version bumps, and there are no stored changelogs for the shipped jars. What actually changed in each Apothic Enchanting update (new enchantments, balance tweaks, fixes) is unverified, so check the mod's own release notes before relying on any particular change.
